Slowly -- but surely -- coming back from a long hiatus.

Better known by the name of Tsu. An "advanced" roleplayer with at least five years of experience on/off. In real life, he is a college student studying in Asia, majoring in design-related fields. Outside of this site, he's also a hopeless poet and an indie writer currently working on his first book (as and when he has the time and inspirations to write something). He is also active in the Harry Potter fandom through participating in fanfic competitions/challenges and building connections with gift fics.

INTP; a Pottermore-certified Slytherin but identifies himself as a Slytherclaw who is both witty and ambitious. Considers himself a Denpa Otaku -- a fan of animanga, visual novels and JRPGs, and he's as opinionated about what he likes and dislikes as every other fan out there.

Roleplay invitation is strictly reserved for close friends and peers only, for now. I'm too busy to join big, open groups at the moment.

First attempt at a romance-ish RP. Wish me luck -- and make be sober over how I can only have fictional girlfriends.

Just to let you know that I'm almost done with my IC - just need to proofread and it will be up tomorrow. Thanks for waiting patiently!
For CS, I'm not the type who can be 'ok' with an image dump and that's all to the character's appearance; I prefer at least a brief description, because sometimes it can reveal a little more than just the outward look of the character i.e. the choice of clothing, some little habits that give hints to the character's personality or ethic, etc. For numerical values, I'm more concerned with height than weight: for weight, generic adjectives to describe the build and statue of the character is good enough for me, while for height the value can give me a better gauge of the height difference between the characters, especially when the characters are talking to each other or certain actions where the height difference may be a prominent factor.

In IC, I agree that going into details about the character's look is not necessary, and if overdone may affect the flow - which is why I'm more inclined to do that in the CS rather than ranting about it in IC.
I get it when people whose native language is not English are poor at it, but given enough exposure to the words of the better-experienced, they should have at least improve after some time. If you think that "alot" is a legitimate word, you got a fuckton of run-ons, and/or you confuse "loose" with "lose", then use that excuse, and I see you got over hundreds of posts in hundreds of days, I'm not going to stop wearing my judging hat. (It's fine if you do it OOC because less effort is needed in mere discussion, unless it becomes unreadable.)

As someone whose native language is not English and had been through the difficult stage of learning it, I can understand those who are in the same boat as I was back then, trying to improve and be better at English. However, as someone who actually can reach to this level where I can be often mistaken as a native at this language, I'm less forgiving compared to most other RPers, especially at those who think they can get away with using this as excuse not to put in effort to minimize language errors in their IC posts.

8 gorillion Harry Potter RPs, 21 brazillion Sword Art Online RPs, 53 zimbabwillion Naruto RPs, 3895249028492839202919121002901091 unfortillion Greek God-themed/"Percy Jackson" RPs. And if most, if not all of them are just of the same damn premise. This is why I'm not keen on fandom roleplays.

While I agree to some extent that popular fandoms are so overdone that they are literally everywhere on the net, and that it's frustrating how these fandoms are so successful that almost no parts of the world is spared from the contagious fever - but that's the point, right? These authors created a universe so huge that is worth exploring beyond what's shown in the canon books with our own personal touch.

On a side note, I think that it's quite impossible to actually create a 100.1% original idea that isn't based on anything that ever existed on Earth - you probably think that it's original, but someone will simply tell you that this idea had already been done a million times before you actually thought of it; maybe not exactly the same, but similar (you can see how many different people have been using the same trope way before you were even born). I don't believe in creating an idea out of absolutely nothing - many ideas are often drawing inspirations from existing works/lore and whatnot before mixing with personal knowledge/experiences to give a more original feel to it, but never, like I said before, a completely original idea that warrant you an exclusive patent right to it.

Bump. Bump. BUMP. bump. BUMP. Reboot. Post. Dead. BUMP. BUMP. BUMP. Reboot. It's dead, god damn it! I know it feels hard on you, but put that lifeless roleplay out to pasture already. Try presenting a different one.

Bumping
I think it makes more sense to just make ONE interest check thread and edit or add more new stuffs to it rather than creating 34879756176496186732 godzillion new interest threads for each and every new idea that comes to your mind at that very moment, or if that thread got buried under other members' new threads and you're too lazy to dig out your original thread. Just my two-cents.

Rebooting
Sometimes a RP died due to various factors i.e. bad luck of getting the wrong cast of players, inexperienced GM, etc. I don't see why people can't reboot an old idea with improvements and give it another shot with the right cast; for GMs, learning from previous setbacks to become better at moderating the RP. RPing is a hobby, not a lifeline job; we're here to enjoy ourselves in the world of fantasy while also learning to improve ourselves, not here for another virtual military camp.

New Pet Peeve: when the other party may not get the references I'm trying to get across when discussing ideas/settings and stuffs, but instead of asking Google and make an effort to do their own research work, s/he simply chucks me with an "I don't know" and sits back, expecting me to do all the detailed elaboration for them.
No worries! I'm a very patient person - I think I did say this before. :P

Anyway, I can totally understand the work part being a 'living hell'. My current part-time job is customer service-related, though I deal with a wider range of customers (people from all over the world). I mostly deal with Japanese because I'm the only staff who can understand the language...

And just take your time. For me, as you can see from my status, post delay from me is in order due to worsening haze condition and I'm falling sick again before I could completely recover. x_x I can't give a definite schedule to when I'll be more active, but I'm hoping the haze issue can be over and done with asap. It's been years and this problem persists annually. It's one of the reasons why I'm moving out of my country after graduation.

...Damn. Sorry partners, your IC responses from moi will have to wait till tomorrow.
So.

This problem had probably been mentioned somewhere in the previous 55 pages worth of complains, but if my poor memory didn't completely fail me, I think it's mostly about Mary Sues and Gary Stus.

We all hate those kind of characters - we hate them in any media as much as we hate to play with someone who throw them into the RP - but when they overstepped into the region of a God Sue, it's more than just about hating them. This is most prevalent in settings that deal with demigods or superpowers. Quoting from my old status:

Why some people simply can't understand that demigods are called DEMI-gods for a reason? Why do they have to make their demigod OCs more powerful than the Big Three (a.k.a. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades) combined?

EDIT: Adding on, how the hell one puny half-god half-human can have so much power to unseat any of the Olympians? What kind of blasphemy is this?

There's nothing wrong bestowing every power ever existed in the fictional lore on your characters, but turning them into gods in a world where they shouldn't be one in the first place (and even going on rampage to beat the crap out of other players' characters just because yours are so insanely powerful that they need to find convenient punchbags to release that over-excessive power) is self-insertion at its rotten core.
<Snipped quote by tsukune>

I know what you mean with those 1x1s. I'm loving them too and can't get enough of them.

Especially one part where a character of mine aims a freaking sniper gun at zero point at anyone as a form of greeting.

I'm that insane.
Helloooooo *hearing an echo*

*hears you*

Will get a post up tomorrow or the day after. Been having too much fun with 1x1s + coming down with fever.
I do both, but pretty much on a case-by-case basis.

I may have the RP planned out weeks or even months before, but what if my partner has other ideas or new inspirations I can use/add into the mix?
I may not have the RP planned in detail - just the basic skeleton to get started - but what if my partner decides to take the backseat?

It's hard for me to stick to either one of the habit for all the RPs I do, so depending on the premise of the RP idea and the kind of partners I have for the respective RP, I'll need to be flexible so that I can work out something that both me and my partners are comfortable with and able to keep it going for a longer term.
