Slowly -- but surely -- coming back from a long hiatus.

Better known by the name of Tsu. An "advanced" roleplayer with at least five years of experience on/off. In real life, he is a college student studying in Asia, majoring in design-related fields. Outside of this site, he's also a hopeless poet and an indie writer currently working on his first book (as and when he has the time and inspirations to write something). He is also active in the Harry Potter fandom through participating in fanfic competitions/challenges and building connections with gift fics.

INTP; a Pottermore-certified Slytherin but identifies himself as a Slytherclaw who is both witty and ambitious. Considers himself a Denpa Otaku -- a fan of animanga, visual novels and JRPGs, and he's as opinionated about what he likes and dislikes as every other fan out there.

A Fate/stay night & Final Fantasy Crossover Roleplay

In the battlefield, there is no place for hope. What lies there is only cold despair and a sin called victory, built on the pain of the defeated. All those people who met there have wholeheartedly admitted the evil and foolishness of this act called war. As long as people don't repent and don't regard it as the most evil taboo, then hell will endlessly reappear in the world.

< Introduction >

The Fifth Holy Grail War concluded with yet another failure, and the omnipotent wish-granting device - the Lesser Grail - was once again destroyed near the end. Two successive magical battle royales had pretty much left Fuyuki City in a devastating state that would take another decade or two to rebuild itself...or worse, left to rot in the remnants of the curses that overflowed from the Grail and razed the earth. Sadly, the horror of Fuyuki City was nowhere enough to stop the limitless greed of human beings - especially the mages - to restart the deadly experiment...

One:
the elimination of the Three Houses - Tohsaka, Makiri and von Einzbern - only meant new bloods would take their place and rule over the magical community, noble family or not.

Two:
the Mage's Association had chosen a new workshop to revive the bloody summoning ritual known as "Heaven's Feel", in preparation for another Holy Grail War... This time, it would be set in the small city of Helsburg, situated between Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Three:
the possibility of summoning fictional Heroic Spirits as shown in the previous war by Medea of Caster Class had the mages wondering... Could this repeated cycle of failure be changed if they tried to summon heroes from a virtual world instead of the real?

"I ask of you: are you my master?"

Now, let the new Holy Grail War begin.

So, a crossover game idea between two of the most popular Japanese game franchises - Fate/stay night and Final Fantasy - what kind of blasphemy is this?

Well, obviously double the epicness...and be doubly mind-blown.

Anyway.

While this is a crossover roleplay idea using the Fate universe as the basis, you do not necessarily need to marathon through the whole anime series or even get your hands on the visual novel game - the GM will do the summarized write-ups of the terminology etc. relevant to this game in the lore section, and rest assured that references with canon will be kept at the minimum...or none at all. (If you want you can read up the canon stuff on the Type-Moon wikia in your own free time.) On the other hand, you will be required to have a good understanding of FF - reason for this will be explained below.

Character wise, you are expected to double: an original character for the Master role, and a canon character from the FF games for the Servant role. It's very much character-driven and interaction-heavy with plenty of rooms for character and relationship development, so be prepared that you may be required to do lots of collaborative writing.

Do expect instances of character deaths - if you're the wimpy type who can't stand blood and dark psychological themes, or those prideful kind who can't stand the idea of your character getting brutally killed (maybe not the Master, but at the very least the Servant has to die), you might not be suitable for this roleplay.

I know that there's a total of 7 Servant Classes according to the Fate lore, but I prefer to start small first while the remaining are filled up by NPCs - never been a GM before, so I'd need to gain some experience before I'm ready to go bigger.

Do note that this is only a PRE-Interest Check. I'm not planning to start this game anytime soon until I can truly make more free time out of my erratic schedule, but I'm putting this up just to see if there's anyone who is interested in this game idea. I will notify those who are interested when I'm ready to roll this out officially.

@Fabricant451, @Bounce & @Penultimate_Pi
Really appreciate the enthusiasm! I thought the idea of playing canon characters is generally not welcomed in RPG save for those Marvel/DC sandbox in the Advanced board. Glad to know that there are players out there who like this game idea. As stated in the OP I'll inform you guys again when I'm ready to start the game properly - that is, if your interest hasn't wane one bit after the (possibly) long wait, heh.

@AirBender
Thanks - you bet I'll go to you if I need some GM help. ;) Or I might as well have 2 Co-GMs instead - even though it's a small group, Celestia is a pretty big world, haha.

A Final Fantasy All-Stars Roleplay

You wake up in an unfamiliar world, without any memories whatsoever. Where you came from - let alone where you're headed - you have no idea, yet all you can do is set forth and walk onward. A mysterious voice calls out to you, guiding you along your path...
Introduction, "Mobius Final Fantasy"

PREMISE
< Synopsis >

You wake up to find yourself in a strange universe called Celestia - some say it's a parallel dimension in the middle of infinity, others say it's a dream within a dream. You have no idea how you got here, or who brought you here... As you try to remember, you realize that you have no recollection of your past, and you do not have the means to return to where you were from.

Guided by a mysterious entity who called itself "The Voice", you will journey through this foreign place to piece back your old memories, at the same time meeting people and creatures alike along the way, creating new memories. Even if you manage to reclaim your past, you can no longer go back to who you once were, only to keep moving forward - maybe you might find a way out of this trance-like loop, or you just want to stay in here for eternity. The choice is yours.

However, you will soon find out the purpose why you are brought to this faraway land beyond the realm of your reality, stripped of your old self, trapped in a cycle of events that would force you to question everything you know: what are you fighting for - to protect, or merely to survive? What does it mean to be a hero?

"Who are you?"

OVERVIEW
< Information >

The World
For cohesion sake, all player characters - regardless of which FF title they are from - will start their adventure in the same, roleplay-exclusive surreal place far from their home world. Partly to reduce discrepancies since the characters won't be from just one title but spanning across many more, it's also to give players the freedom to explore and build an original, standalone universe as a collective whole. We'll expand the Codex and add to the lore together, and also come up with sub-plots (or "side quests" in gaming terms) on top of the main story the GM will reveal from time to time to guide the players (and keep you all on your toes, heh). Hence, this roleplay isn't just a GM's one-man show, but more of a group effort where all players can participate and contribute their ideas.

The Characters
Before you go "What? Canon characters? Why?", the idea of this roleplay is character study: deconstructing and rebuilding the characters we think we know into someone deeper, someone more complicated...and maybe even breaking the fourth wall. To give you a better picture how this roleplay works, imagine a jigsaw puzzle - the canonical information (the character's memories or their backstory) is the pieces, which you'll have to try and put them back together. However, it's not going to be this simple; as your character regains their past, they are also adding their present to their overall memory bank - this overlapping of perceptions and emotions, from both the past and current, will shape the character beyond what we know canonically.

The Theme
The plot will involve some psychological and spiritual themes, such as self-discovery and morality; we may even delve into politics and war as the plot thickens. Players are expected to be mature and open-minded, and always keep in mind that this is a work of fiction. Do not take the darker and edgier events in this roleplay too personally - or else we'll have to ask you to leave before things get out of hand.

The Style
While this roleplay isn't a sandbox, it's not going to be strictly linear either - it will be a bit more dynamic with a mix of both styles, giving you the space to expand your own ideas while not straying too far from the main plot and losing your way. Of course, a FF game isn't complete without epic boss fights - yes, there will be action scenes! Collaborative writing is highly encouraged for smooth transitions (because I'm no fan of one-liners).

The Highlight
What sets this FF roleplay apart from the others? Other than the world-building and battle goodness, there is the mystery-thriller element: the GMs will pick a player randomly and PM you a piece of information or clue, which you'll include it somewhere in your IC. Yes, recovering your character's memories is only the half of it - you will also be trying to find out the reason why the characters are gathered here in this surreal universe, and they will have to make choices that could possibly change their fate, even this dream-like world, forever...whether it's for the better, or worse.

Hikari Mino, No.49 Nagisa, No.11 Houkatori & No.88 Yajuu.

Yajuu glanced up at the girl, vaguely amused at her serious face. "I was greeting your competition, that's all," he answered. "I thought the giant rifle was out of place." He looked back to Nagisa and Hikari, sticking his hands into his pockets. "I didn't expect them to be so close to your apartment. It'll be interesting once the game kicks off." He let out a small laugh, starting to walk past the two of them, continuing his trip to the grocery store.

Houka, for her part, was rigid, keeping her eyes on Nagisa the entire time. A spark of flame came to life in her right hand, but she quelled it quickly. "I hope you don't intend to harm my Ashikabi," she stated in a low tone. "We will have a problem if you do. One that I will resolve...quite quickly." The spark reignited, flames traveling around her hand in a show of force. An intimidation tactic. This was not the time to fight. A sharpshooter could only do so much, though. Hopefully, a display of powers would be enough to make her back off. For now, at least.

"Fire? What the hell is up with you people?" Hikari asked, eyes wide in shock and fear. Sure, Nagisa looked dangerous. She clearly knew how to use that gun. If she had the same physical capacity as that other Sekirei, she would be handy in a fight no matter the range. This other Sekirei, though...she could control fire? How the hell was that fair?

Nagisa narrowed her eyes at yet another newcomer Sekirei - this time it was a pyrokinetic. The odds were indeed against the petite girl - while she knew she was at a disadvantage with the male one moments ago due to the range, she could feel this dark-haired female emitting a dangerous aura even without her flashing those flames in her hand.

Lamenting about herself being a weak - almost useless - Sekirei was not an option; her priority right now was to get her master back to his house safely first...and then start thinking about possible countermeasures. In worst-case scenario, she probably might have to force Hikari to 'wing' her and complete their pact, to unlock her true power - she had hoped to at least build a solid, mutual trust with him first, but after seeing how her master was like, especially his reactions towards her mere presence...

She couldn't afford the time and patience to deal with his nerves - not with their life perched dangerously on the brink of death...so early at this stage.

The faint sound of sirens distracted the raven-haired girl as she stared down at Nagisa. Her fire was snuffed out almost immediately as she turned away. It seemed the gunshot had drawn attention. Maybe this would work out in her favor. "Stay away from us or you'll regret it," she stated with finality before walking away, heading back to the room where Yuki still waited.

Nagisa arched an eyebrow as the sirens were becoming louder...coming closer towards where they were. She then shielded her eyes on instinct at the sudden flash of light - from the headlamps of a black-and-white car. More vehicles skidded to a halt behind the car, and soon the narrow single-lane road was filled with armed men surrounding the Sekirei, their guns pointing at her from all directions.

One of them shouted at her, "The little lady over there! Drop your weapon on the ground, and put your hands behind your head now!"

Nagisa ignored them; Hikari was still close to her, within her reach - despite her small size, she was confident she could carry him out of here in a blink of an eye. However, she felt that she should still seek his advice first. "Hikari, please give me an order."

Hikai's eyes were wide as the cops shouted at Nagisa to put her gun down. The gunshot had drawn too much attention. It was to be expected, but what was the path he was supposed to take from here?

At her question, his mind went blank. He had no idea what orders he was supposed to give. He said the first thing he could think of in this scenario. "...Put your weapon down," he said softly. "They won't hurt either of us if you listen to them." He knew this would put them at risk. They would be defenseless against another Sekirei attack. However, the police would open fire if the sniper tried to make a move against them or to escape.

Nagisa nodded and placed the sniper rifle before her casually, still unfazed by all the handguns that were aimed at her. She tilted her head a little, then kicked the rifle towards the policemen before she placed her hands behind her head.

"Now, move away from the boy - slowly - and keep those hands behind your head!"

That made the petite girl narrow her eyes at the cop. Half of her wanted to snatch up the rifle and grab Hikari out of this troublesome situation, but her master's order was clear: she would have to listen to these armed humans if they wanted to leave unscathed. She widened the gap between herself and Hikari - very much reluctantly, obvious in her hazel eyes that had broken their usual glassy demeanor and were now throwing daggers at the policemen. They rushed in at once and pinned Nagisa to the ground, who didn't bother to resist when they snap the handcuffs around her wrists.

The cop - who had been barking at her just now - picked up the sniper gun and whistled. "I don't know where the hell you got your hands on this baby - but we're gonna have a very long chat tonight, back at the station. You and me."

"That's it? Tch, what a shame."

High up on one of the office towers, a spark of flame broke the darkness for a mere second; in that quick flash showed the head of a teenage girl - a pinkette with aquamarine eyes and a tattoo underneath the left.

She sighed as she watched the charred remains of the card were carried away by the night breeze. "Well, well, well... What a cast we have here. I'm going to put my bets on you, Hikari Mino - entertain me with everything you've got...and I might just fall for you."

The melodic giggles faded into the roar of the wind, and silence descended once more.
