A collab with @Hero

It was the beginning of the second week of April. Demetria Graves was wiping the ashes off her clothing at Mitsuwa, the one store at the MT Line Terminal whose only purpose was to allow students entrance to the station via Floo Network. Coming from a low-middle class family meant that flights to Tokyo were out of the question. On the other hand, having a Muggle father, an Auror brother and another brother attending his last year also meant that apparition was another means of transportation she couldn’t use. That is why the young woman had resorted to saying goodbye to her father, standing in the middle of her house’s fireplace before dropping the Floo powder that would ultimately take her to her destination.

Once she deemed herself presentable, Demi grabbed her luggage and owl cage (where a content Calliope was quietly looking around at her surroundings) and made her way out of the shop. She quickly looked around for any signs of her boyfriend, going as far as going up and down the ample terminal twice. However, she let out a tired sigh at failing to find him. Deciding it was time to rest, the brunette took a seat in the nearest bench, placing her luggage beside her. The fact that Kalder had yet to arrive at their appointed meeting spot meant that she’d won the bet of who would be getting to the train station first. This made her smile like an idiot. Still smiling, Demi decided to pull out her phone to kill time while her boyfriend decided to make an entrance.

Dragging his luggage along, Kalder Sigourney was still wiping his face free of his older sister’s tears. He was rather used to her dramatizing things, though this time she had gone above and beyond. It was strange, this was the second year, yet she treated it like it was the first. Luckily for him, her twin had managed to rescue him from her grip, and after bidding the two farewell, he made his way through the station. He managed to steal a glance at one of the station’s clocks, silently swearing as he realized he wasn’t as early as he wanted to be.

His owl, Ottilie, shook her feathers, rustling the cage slightly. He was genuinely surprised she hadn’t tried to get out just yet, but her movement meant she had probably seen Demi. After taking a look around while still pulling along his luggage and his owl, he saw her a good distance away. He thought he could maybe try to sneak up on her, having been relatively close without her noticing.

Of course, his plan would not come to fruition, as once he was within a few feet of her, Ottilie immediately let out a hoot, making as much noise as possible in an effort to communicate with Demi. Kalder couldn’t help but scowl at his owl; he swore she liked Demi better than she liked him. Still, the jig was up, and once he approached the bench, he let out a breath of exasperation.

Good morning, Miss Graves,” He greeted her rather cordially, trying to ignore Ottilie’s numerous hoots.

Demi, who had been deeply immersed in reading an article about her favorite band, failed to hear the excited hoots of the owl who’d frequented her Rhode Island home over the last few months. It wasn’t until a familiar voice greeted her that her attention had been caught, causing her to give a little jump at being taken by surprise. Cursing under her breath, she looked up to see who was at fault for giving her a small heart attack… And found herself staring at the face of the one person she’d missed so badly over what felt like forever.

The young woman couldn’t hold back the beaming smile that spread across her face. “Good morning to you as well, Mr. Sigourney,” Demi greeted in the same manner, although the playful twinkle in her blue eyes and wiggling eyebrows suggested she was simply playing along.

I sincerely apologize for the noise,” He joked, Ottilie’s cries relentless at this point. He took her cage and placed it next to Demi, and it immediately silenced the owl. “She seems to be rather fond of you. Not that I blame her, I’d very much like to be at the side of a beautiful girl such as yourself.

“Oh my God, that’s freaking adorable!” Demi cried out, looking down at the owl with adoring eyes. She stuck her finger through the bars of the cage to pet Ottilie’s, head, and was overcome by cuteness when the owl closed her eyes at her touch as if enjoying it. At Kalder’s compliment, she raised a joking eyebrow. “Well I certainly appreciate the compliment, especially when it comes to someone of your position, Your Highness.” she said teasingly, getting up and standing in front of him to do a mock-courtesy.

There was a part of him that wanted to continue the game, but in all honesty, he couldn’t keep it up. Taking advantage of the fact that Demi now stood before him, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. The scent of her perfume was both nostalgic and comforting, a sweet smell nothing else in the world could even come close to replicating.

I’ve missed you,” He murmured, nuzzling his face on her hair.

Once again taken by surprise, it took Demi a second to register what was happening, but when she did, her arms were immediately wrapped tightly around Kalder’s athletic figure. It felt great to finally be reunited after the time spent apart, even if it had been just a few short months. There were so many things to be said and done that bi-weekly letters couldn’t even come close to transmitting. Even though she’d enjoyed the time spent with her father and brother, Kalder had been in her mind at every second. She was excited to tell him all about her vacation.

She looked up at him, a soft smile in her face. “I’ve missed you too, KalBear.” the girl responded, using the pet name she’d given him a short while ago -a play on the pronunciation of his first name. Demi giggled as she noticed he couldn’t quite stop his stupid looking grin, though it was easy to tell he was slightly embarrassed.

Taking advantage of his silence, Demi quickly added cheerfully: “I want my prize now, by the way, seeing as I clearly won our bet today.”

Drawing up a rather proper air once more, he nodded, fishing for something in his pocket. “Ask, and ye shall receive,” Kalder announced, though he hesitated. “You’re going to have to turn around for this.

The brunette looked up at him with a confused expression, making no motion to do as she was told. “Why would I need to turn around for you to pay for some snacks?” she asked, trying to remember if they had decided on anything else other than that as the winner’s prize. She was fairly certain the snacks were the only thing.

Kalder agreed, as that was the original prize, but seeing as how he knew his family would sabotage him from the start, he knew he was going to lose. As his fingers finally clasped the prize, he put it in his fist. Reaching his arm around her, he opened his palm, a small, white gold key on a silver chain quietly dangling itself in front of her.

Because the vending machine was all out,” He said.

When her eyes fell to the beautiful, delicate piece of jewelry in Kalder’s hand, Demi was stunned. Not only was it beautiful, but it certainly didn’t look like something out of a vending machine. The way it shone was the tell-tale sign that this was no cheap gift.

“Shit, Kal,” was the only thing she blurted out, taking the pendant in her hand to take a closer look. Her eyes widened at the sparking stones that decorated the hearts in the key. “Are these diamonds?!”

Well, of course,” He was a little confused at her question. Were they considered bad in Muggle culture? She seemed more surprised than upset, so he figured maybe she just wasn’t expecting it. “Mother always said it wouldn’t be jewelry without jewels. I know it’s a little on the smaller side, but I hope you like it.

Demi’s mouth was now gaping open as she tried to digest what Kalder had just said. ’On the small side’?” she repeated in disbelief, still struggling to believe what was going on. He seemed so genuinely surprised at her response that it earned him a laugh. “Kalder, the only diamonds I’ve ever seen in my life are on my mother’s wedding ring. This is just…” she trailed off, unable to contain her tears of gratefulness and disbelief and happiness and all the warm feelings bubbling up inside her. “It’s too much, Kal. I can’t accept it.”

Klader blinked a few times, now completely confused. It was nothing compared to the jewels his mother had, and had been too ‘simple’ for one of his older sister’s tastes, but he had genuinely believed that she would like it. Maybe it wasn’t nice enough? “I can get you something better,” He offered, frowning. Maybe the garnet choker would have been the better option, damn, he should have gone with his gut.

“N-no, it’s not that I don’t like it!” Demi stammered, trying to make sense of this whole confusing situation while somehow trying to find a point of understanding. “What I meant to say is that I’m not used to seeing lavish gifts like this -much less receiving them. I… I love it, I really do. I just feel really bad accepting it knowing I can never get you something half as good as this.” she said earnestly, sadly looking down at her feet.

Her reasoning made very little sense to him. It’s not like he was expecting anything in return, so her mentioning getting him anything was boggling. He stared at her expression, trying to comprehend her hesitance, trying to empathize, but nothing came to mind. Of course, he wasn’t going to just leave things as is, either.

Well...take it for now,” He insisted. “It’s yours.

Demi raised her tear-stained face up to him, a sweet smile on her features. “Thank you, Kalder. It’s beautiful.” she told him, wrapping him up in a tight hug. “I love it.”

Crisis averted! Kalder mentally gave himself a pat on the back as Demi hugged him, trying not to think too hard on her reaction. Maybe it was just not what she was used to? Well, he would just have to help her adjust, that’s all. He almost feared an argument was on the horizon, but luckily for him, it wouldn’t quite come to that.

Let’s get going,” He told her, smiling.

“Please. I’m freaking starving!” she replied with a laugh, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before letting go of him to pick up her belongings.

With luggage and his owl back in hand, Kalder decided to lead the way, figuring they had just enough time to grab something quick before boarding the train to Mahoutokoro.
Yes give Abe some sexy nurses to hit on. 😏😏😏

’Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life.
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down.
You know, the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change.
But I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

Once Xander had left the room, Emilia decided it was her turn to depart the premises as well. Sighing, she got up from the bed, stretched and glanced around the room, trying to locate every piece of her clothing. Once every item was accounted for, Emmy began her treasure hunt, taking the opportunity to do some retrospection about her life -and what she’d failed to accomplish in it so far.

At the tender age of eighteen, right after graduating high school, young Emmy had decided to make a 10-year life plan for herself. Said plan consisted of the top five things she was dead-set on accomplishing in the next ten years: get her Pediatrics degree, land a job in one of the top medical facilities in the country, afford the car and home of her dreams, get married and have at least one child. Out of five, she’d managed to accomplish three of her goals. But for the blonde, the two goals she’d failed to reach were the ones the held the most significance to her. Not only had she not done so in the time period established, but she was also three months shy of that dreaded 30th birthday… And no sign of settling down in sight.

Dressing herself, Emilia tried to pinpoint the exact moment in which things had gone wrong. Had it been when she’d decided to part ways with Wilfred Thompson back in her senior year? They’d been such a serious, stable couple for the best part of two years- until their career choices had taken them down different paths. Maybe if they had found a way to make it work, he could possibly have been the one to grace her with the blessing of marriage and children…

Or had it been when she’d refused to take back Julius Kennedy back at the end of her sophomore year of college? Sure, he’d been a serial cheater and an overall douchebag. But what if her love was the key to him turning his life back around? What if, by neglecting to save Julius, she’d really lost her one opportunity at making her two biggest dreams a reality?

Or had it been back that last December, when she’d ended up in Dr. Alexander Ivanov’s bed after having one too many martinis and margaritas at the Christmas staff party? Had it been then, when she’d failed to hold her ground in her search for her soulmate and instead had consented to what would end up becoming a sting of meetings for casual sex?

No matter how hard she thought about it, Emmy would never know which had been the second in which she’d fallen down this pit of despair; the one that had turned her into the kind of woman to hook up in broad daylight at her own workplace.

Sighing, Emilia would take one last glance at the scene of the crime before making her ‘Walk of Shame’ to the nearest staff bathroom. She’d secretly prayed that the room would be empty on her arrival to save herself the judgemental looks. However, said prayers went unanswered, because as Emmy opened the door she found herself staring at none other than Victoire Bailey.

Emmy died a little inside at the disapproving look Vic shot her as she washed her hands. "Someone's had a good morning," the raven-haired woman had commented, drying her hands on the cheap paper towels close to her.

“You could say that…” the blonde sighed, taking up a spot on the first sink. She took a paper towel, wet it a little and began to wipe the mess that was her mouth and jaw.

"You know that means the rest of the day will probably go to hell, right?"

“Well, you know what I always say: when life gives you lemons, you just have to make some sweet, delicious lemonade.” Emmy replied in her usual bubbly fashion, rummaging in her purse for her makeup bag. She quickly touched up the bottom half of her face with some powder foundation, put on a fresh coat of lipstick and fixed up her disheveled hair before turning back to Victoire. “Actually, Vic, I was heading down to the lounge for some coffee…” she trailed off, having second thoughts about what she was going to do but deciding to take a shot anyway. “And I was wondering if you wanted to come down with me? I kind of want to talk to someone about something, and I thought that maybe you could be that someone…?”

Both women were making their way out of the bathroom when a familiar voice greeted them. Looking up, Emilia realized it was Abraham Cross: Victoire’s partner in crime and resident hotshot lawyer with which the blonde had a story with… More news at 10.

“Hey, Abe!” she happily replied to the man, shooting him the brightest of smiles. When asked about the haircut, Emmy giggled and waved a hand. “Nope, no new hair! Just same old me.”
Working on an Emmy post!
@Hushed Whispers The older Cabernet sister was the one role that immediately jumped at me.

Also, when you say it's not first come first serve, does that mean we can reserve characters? Because if it is I really want that Cabernet spot LOL.
Count me in, as always.

I even have a character in mind for this

To avoid any bickering, Dante decided to not remind Archer that they’d been friends way before Satan -Sophia, he meant Sophia- had decided to steal him. Instead, they focused on more exciting topics, like what had happened after Archie had gone to bed. At his best friend’s look and comment about the lipstick, the Mossos boy’s face lit up in an impish grin. The grin only widened as Archie seemed to be correctly guessing the identity of last night’s visitor, but the full mention of the name was cut short by the arrival of his disciple.

"What's up brother from another mother?" Cornelius spoke up to Dante from the right side window, smiling at him.

“S’up, CJ.” Dante greeted Cornelius, followed up by doing the official frat handshake.

“Ready to get this year kicked off at the bonfire?”

Dante nodded with one of his mischievous smiles. “You know it.”

“I think we should be leaving now." Cornelius said looking in through the passenger side window.

“Yes well, that’s why we’re in the car CJ.” Archer replied sarcastically, earning himself a friendly elbow on the ribs courtesy of Dante. “So are you getting in?”

“Yeah, man. You’re more than welcome to catch a ride with us.”

Just then, a loud noise in the roof of the car interrupted the conversation. It was Mike, peering at Archie and Dante from the former’s window. He greeted both young men before piping up the idea of a race to the beach, which made Dante’s eyes lit up at the mere mention of it. “Fuck, man. If I’d known we were racing I’d taken Sonic out for a spin. God only knows I’ve been dying to burn some rubber lately...” he said disappointedly, thinking of the last time his Ferrari F60 America -the humble gift he’d received from his family for his sixteenth birthday- had seen any real action. Back in Cali, him and his team were kings of the streets, racing at least once a week. But in his current town, races were once in a blue moon, and the competition was too easy to beat. It saddened him that his favorite hobby had to be put on hold just for being in this stupid state.

His whiny thoughts were interrupted by a loud, unholy screeching coming from Archie’s side of the car. Cursing loudly, Dante looked around to find none other than their frat president, holding a megaphone.

“Fucking hell, Coach! Was that really necessary?” Mossos exclaimed in annoyance, rubbing his left ear in an attempt to recover his hearing. Leave it to Dash to make an attention-grabbing scene like this.

Fortunately for Dante, Archer chose that very moment to speed off in the direction of the beach. They’d been on the road for less than a minute -jamming along to one of Archie’s favorite songs at the same time Dante smoked- when they were forced to a stop by a stoplight. The sound of a very familiar motorbike behind them reached Mossos’ ears, causing him to let out a frustrated sigh. With one quick glance at the rearview mirror, his worst suspicions as to who was behind the bike were confirmed. Of course it had to be fucking Sophia McLaughlin: the girl who never seemed to let things go. The young man closed his eyes, praying for the patience he was currently lacking, because he just knew in his bones that this bitch was bound to do something to get under his skin…

He didn’t have to wait long for it. As if reading his mind, the roaring sound of the bike moved from the back to the right side of the vehicle, right beside where he was sitting. Pointedly looking to the front, Dante purposely ignored her knuckles knocking against his window. It soon became clear she wasn’t stopping the annoying knocking until he graced her with his attention, and so he did just that. In response, the girl flipped him off, did a wheelie and promptly sped off. Mossos merely sighed, watching her go with the unamused expression he’d learned from his aunt of someone who’d just had his time wasted by meaningless petty shit.

"And that's why you don't stick your dick in crazy." Dante mentioned to Archer, motioning in the direction where Sophia had just passed them. “I’m literally just sitting here all chill with my jams and my cigarette and look at that. Then she has the audacity to go around talking crap about how I ‘trigger her’. It’s some bullshit, man, I’m telling you…” he trailed off, taking a long, angry drag of the cig before flinging it out the window. He secretly hoped that this wasn’t a premonition to how the rest of the night would go, because if it was, then he would have been better off not attending the bonfire at all.

When they reached their destination, Dante let out an annoyed scoff at seeing that Sophia had arrived just seconds before they did. The young man watched her as she took one look in their direction before promptly walking away. Meanwhile, Archie was gone in a blink, shades on and enthusiasm on high. Mossos, on the other hand, had decided to stay in the car for a few minutes. Apart from wanting to avoid a scene with Sophia, his current position was perfect for keeping an eye out until the one person he was waiting for finally made her entrance.

Tonight, he had only one mission in mind: finally make a move on her.
