Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Er, Youmu dodged the grab.

Her actions don't make sense if she was grabbed because Roukanken while very long, would not be able to hit like it did. Either she dodged the grab and cut or she wouldn't be able to cut, and my post was made with her dodging.
Konpaku Youmu

She'd missed, but only barely. Youmu had forced the demon man back, and distracted him long enough to make it possible for the others to free the man who had been trapped in a barrier of some kind. She caught a brief glimpse of his eyes turning red, and suddenly Roukanken's blade was red hot. And yet, the wrapped hilt did well to insulate her hand from the heat. If it hadn't been a youkai-forged blade, perhaps this wound have been troublesome. But Roukanken was no ordinary nodachi. The huge two-meter blade blazed with heat even as Youmu quickly stepped around the Demon Man, her form blurring from speed again. He was preoccupied, and others were attacking him, so it would be easy to find a moment to find an opening...!

Suddenly the dragon man had been flung away, and the Demon man rounded on her and lunged, one thick arm grabbing for her throat. If she couldn't handle this, she was no member of the Konpaku family...!

In a flash, Hakurouken was once again drawn from its sheath, spun, and stabbed downwards in a bid to drive it fully through his arm. If the first glancing blow had not done anything, then perhaps a more firm blow would stun him! Leaving the wakizashi buried in the demonic creature's arm if it hit, she spun with Roukanken raised and let the blade tear the air in a silvery arc downward, aiming for his shoulder as she took herself upwards and into the air. If this blow connected, it would take his arm!

@Masterkeun @Wraithblade6 @supertinyking @MacDuffy
@Wraithblade6: I understand it's only temporary, but being heated to near molten and having the hilt burst into flames would destroy any sword.

To be honest since it's Youkai-forged I don't think it's possible to destroy it anyway, but it certainly came off like that's what you were suggesting.

I think having an attack that will always hit no matter what to deprive someone of their ability to fight is a bad idea in general.
@Raineh Daze a near-molten blade is probably going to have a wicked hot grip too. The grip could possibly just burst into fire. Do we seriously need to argue this?

Uh, no that's not okay. Destroying one of her weapons, the only that can actually deal real damage to anything, is not okay.
@RolePlayerRoxas: Also that.
@Wraithblade6: I never said any of that was okay.

I just said I wanted to have her use Hakurouken again. Which I mean like... her thinking she needed to draw it to help block or something could have worked. Maybe thinking she didn't get a good enough hit with it and try to use it to stun him and follow up with Roukanken.
Yeah uh.

It's not like I expected Magnus to get cut in half or anything but he basically ignored that attack attempt effortlessly(and Youmu's sword's hilt is wrapped so that wouldn't really work) to autohit her multiple times... and autohit everyone else.
Well now I have to have her try Hakurouken again just for that.
A little bit of clarification on the nature of Roukanken and Hakurouken:

Roukanken is a phantom-slaying blade that can cut and kill even things that are totally intangible because it was forged by youkai smiths to be so ridiculously sharp. Its supernatural sharpness lets her do things like cut lasers and all kinds of crazy stuff.

Hakurouken's a bit... weirder. It doesn't kill, but it can cut things with no physical presence, like confusion, and can hurt things by "attacking" the soul. But the "attack" on the soul isn't really understood unless you see it on a purely spiritual existence. Hakurouken actually instantly causes a spirit to reach a state similar to Nirvana and vanish.

@Rin: ... In that case yeah it should probably be pretty dangerous to him. ^^;
A hundred meters is nothing for Konpaku Youmu. :D
