Current The ENT doc to me: "it's not looking so good in there". I know, doc. Please fix my nose, and maybe tell the VA to approve my claim.

@Jewel - get something you can live with for the rest of your life. What is something you’d never not be passionate about? I don’t regret my tattoo; I’m removing it for another reason.

"Well, what are the odds?" Milena smiled, turning to Helga as she adjusted her bag on her right shoulder, which was understandably growing heavier by the minute. It had been a rather long day, and Milena was ready for a nice, warm supper. "I'll see you in the room."

With a quick wave, Milena made her way towards the dormitories. She passed a few soldiers, some who like her were simply trying to get some rest. She was the first to reach their room, and she picked the bed opposite the door against the wall. Milena sat down on the bed while she dropped her gear on the floor, leaning it against the frame as she looked around for a moment to get used to her new living quarters. With each new post she was assigned, she grew a bit more saddened by the fact that she didn't have a home with a family to return to. She missed her dad, terribly, but unfortunately, he had been living in her memories for some time now, and the disheartening thought that she'd never see him again wasn't getting easier over time. "I can fight for you, father," Milena whispered to herself, hoping to find some small comfort derived from her own simple words. "I can fight for you, and mother..." She smiled as a single tear fell across her cheek. "That's what I can do for you both."

Before she ran the chance of being viewed as the weak one, Milena wiped her face dry as she took off her boots. The bed wasn't as uncomfortable as one would image, and she pushed herself against the wall, crossing her legs in front of her to make herself comfortable. Looking down at the bowl of soup, Milena hoped that it would be reminiscent of the home-cooked meals she used to enjoy just not too long ago. Much to her surprise, when she took the first spoonful, she found the taste to be quiet pleasant. Milena picked at one of the vegetables to get something solid in her stomach beside the broth. She ate the remainder of her food in silence, the shuffling feet outside an indicator that the others were slowly making their way to their rooms as well, a small reminder that she was not alone. And by that, she didn't mean alone in a conventional sense, but rather, each one of those soldiers out there had their own personal struggles too. Each one of them had their own demons to battle and accepting that was one way to get through what lay ahead of them...or so that's what she thought.

When it was time to go, Lacey placed the bookmark on the page she'd left off before she tucked the book away in her bag. She headed towards the door, but stopped by Payton's desk first for a little chat.

"Mr. Carlson, did you know that you inadvertently turned me into a teacher's pet?" She kept her voice low, not wanting to be overheard by the other students as they exited the room to head to their next class. Lacey leaned forward on the desk before she continued, "Judging by the group we've got this semester, they could easily get the wrong idea. Not that I'd mind per se were we not confined to this facility, but I'm trying to get out of here as fast I can, and I don't want to see you get in trouble either." She smiled, tapping her fingers on his desk. "By all means, call me out if you must," she continued with a shrug of her shoulder, "but maybe do so because I misbehaved? I'm only trying to fit in while simultaneously making every attempt possible to expedite my release. It's a tricky process..."

@Echoes
I'll hold off for now. We just gotta see if @SlashInfinite wants to post something.
I decided to wait, if that's okay. I don't want to overdo it with my posts.
Well, what do we have here...

A few minutes went by as Lacey daydreamed about noting in particular, her thoughts taking her wherever they desired. She did, however, notice when a guy she hadn't seen around entered the classroom. His eyes were very alluring, and she couldn't help but stare as he made his way to the back of the classroom. Lacey looked over her shoulder for no longer than a couple of seconds before she reached into her backpack and took out a book she'd been reading at her leisure, "Cell" by Stephen King. After homeroom, she would probably go over and introduce herself, but for now, she'd just quietly read until Mr. Carlson otherwise demanded her attention.
Guess I didn't miss much then!
It was a simple question, yet it resonated with Isabela. "I'm afraid so, yes," she nodded, finally placing her rifle down between the two front seats after making sure the safety was on. "I have plenty of experience, but strictly speaking I've never been in an actual war zone. But now that I think about it," she stopped, looking forward for a moment before turning to Melnikov once more, "I've never been deployed anywhere overseas." Isabela shrugged her shoulders. "I've traveled for leisure, but that's about it. Guess I'll soon find out what it's actually like, huh?"

She gave Melnikov a slight smile to keep the conversation light, but the fear of the unknown was evident in her eyes. Isabela then looked back at Serena who had remained quiet.

"Welcome aboard! Happy you could join us!"

Noticing that one of their teammates had gotten into the other vehicle, Isabela turned the car on but left it in park. She then noticed the last man also get in the other car.

"Say the word and we're good to go, boss."
Wait, what did I miss?
