Hello folks and welcome back to RPGC! Our theme for this month is hot off the pressβ€”so hot, in fact, that it’s a wonder it hasn’t started a fire.

The Prompt:

It’s summertime, and summer means heat. Temperatures are rising, and things might be close to boiling over…



Beating the Heat: Achieve the ultimate chill despite the summer heatwave.

Rising Tensions: The temperature isn’t the only thing that can rise unexpectedly…

Mm' Spicy: Some good ol' romance to kindle your fires of love. (NO 18+ ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Sorry to be a killjoy but 40% of our contest staff is underage.)

The Hero in the Smoke: Heat's not always bad, sometimes it can save the day!

@Esoteric yesyesyes. You can. Contest staff can -- heck, are encouraged to -- enter the contest. Just know that you can't vote for your own entry or nominate yourself for a bonus category. But the rest of the staff can, and will, as @mdk can attest to.

The basic gist is, write anything you like (though entries that conform to the theme generally do better), and when it's complete, send it via PM to @RPGC entry. We collect everything and post it in a big thread, where everybody can read your stuff, comment on it, and cast a vote for the winner. That's it! The 'challenges' are optional bonus things you can incorporate into your story/poem/entry -- the staff picks a winner for each challenge. The rest is up to voters.

OH, one more thing. All entries are treated as Anonymous unless you give us permission to sign your name to the entry. If you do sign your entry, it makes it easier to find reviews/comments on your work -- people can tag you in their post and you'll get a site notification, so it's pretty convenient. But that's up to you.

@Ragenaut Once upon a time, there was a 3,500 word limit...

There isn't anymore. You can knock down an entire novel if you want to! XD
Just, er, don't expect us to necessarily have the time to read it if you actually write that much. Haha.

@Ragenaut We've taken entries that nearly break the character count on their own. Write us a paragraph, write us a paperback, we'll take it. And do our best to review it, though it might take us longer than the single week we typically leave for voting.

We've taken entries that nearly break the character count on their own.

Pretty sure someone arranged to have the character limit changed after that.

@Ragenaut Why not write for this month? This is the standard length of all RPGC contests and you found it virtually a day after it was posted. Also our contest prompts don't follow any specific order. It's just... whatever prompt we feel like, whenever we feel like it, pretty much.
