Finnlay now in his street clothes after his ride around the Boston entered his small but spacious apartment. “Ahh. Home sweet home.” he said let out an exhausted breath as he entered his home putting his keys on a hook by the front door. After putting his leather jacket into his closet he hoped he could just relax and maybe watch a bit of tv before falling asleep. Moving towards the refrigerator he noticed his laptop had a message on it. “Who on God's good earth is messaging me at this hour.” popping the lid off his beer Finn opened up his email to see read the last thing he thought he would ever see. Finnlay it's Jocelyn. In a bind. Headed your way in about 4 hours. Meet me at the Parkman Bandstand. Need a favor.

Finnlay just stared at the screen in disbelief for a few moments. His mind was racing at a million miles an hour trying to figure out what he had just read. He quickly shot out of his chair in disbelief and took a minute to walk around his apartment. Finally stopping his frantic walk he leaned against a wall on the other side of the room and stared at the laptop almost hoping the message would somehow disappear. Taking a long drink of his Guinness Finn closed his eyes and took his seat at the desk. The message was sent about 3 hours ago so she would be here in about a hour give or take.

Finnlay had to fight the part of him that wanted to yell bloody murder about how she had just up and left him 2 years ago. Or how of course the only thing she wanted after all this time was money. Not a hello or an explanation. But he couldn't bring himself to it. He wasn't sure why but he just never could keep his anger against her. Starting to type he responded ‘I have some jobs that you could do for some quick cash it just depends on what your willing to do. And If you need a place to laylow and stay I can help you there to.’ after sending the message he realized that he didn't have a whole lot of time until he had to meet her. “Why do I have the feeling this is all going to end poorly for me. I don't think she could get into much trouble unless I was right about her.” Finnlay took another look at his Guinness bottle before saying “I'm going to need more of these I can already tell.” And with that Finnlay through on his leather jacket and his normal bike helmet before walking out of his apartment and Driving away.

Jocelyn Victoria Beatrice Harmon AKA Tonic

Location: Work, Bar called The Rum House; Westside of the Theater District, East of Hell’s Kitchen

May 6th, 2012

While I am braiding my hair and wrapping it into a bun I state. “So I am headed out now. I have a car at my flat so I can get my stuff. Then will be back with some much needed...things. Lenora do you want to ride with me? It will be a tight fit but you should be fine on the bike. I will give you the keys to my car and whoever is going with me to Boston I have a place where we can lay low while I get some cash.” My hair done I look around and notice that luck seems to be on our side as all the cameras have been destroyed. I open the register and snag some of the cash tallying it out to about what I would have made tonight sans tips. It was enough for me to fill up both vehicles and have some left to feed myself. Now I have more people to think about. This was not stretching far enough this time around. I really needed a steady job. Thank god the Boston house had been bought and paid for about 15 years ago. I motion for Lenora to follow and I head out the back grabbing my helmet and handing it off to her as she gets on. I know that I would survive a crash but neither she nor the bike would. I hoped she knew how to lean with someone on a bike.

I start up the bike and the wail of a siren off in the distance getting closer. “Oh bloody hell just what we need.” I glance over my shoulder and shout. “Hang on.” Apparently response time was a little lacking but after what happened earlier today I can be forgiving. I just wish it had not been this fast. I peel out and hope that no one thinks staying at the bar was a good idea. It looked like someone robbed the place mowing down patrons as they went.

Apparently we had bigger problems. Blue and red flashing ones as I sped toward 8th Avenue. Of course the luck from earlier had to run out at some point as I saw no one else on the road except the cop that saw me gunning down 47th Street like hell was following me. He promptly started to pull around and pursue me. Ballocks.

James Walker aka Sliver

Location: Rum House or Bar Manhattan New York
Interactions: People in the Rum House. @Almalthia@Draku69@Sewer Rat@webboysurf@jorcool@TwilightShadow

James stands up out of his bar stool and stretches a bit. He then says to Slingshot, "You still spilled my drink sir, and I expect you to make up for it but for now gotta run!" Laughing a bit jokingly as he made his way to the door before opening it quickly and running out the door.

Getting up and heading out of the Rum House instead of following those who are leaving James makes his way to the nearest and darkest alleyway. Once there he looks around to make sure he is in the clear. His business looking suit turns from black into a chrome like silver color and envelopes te rest of James's body. Then he looks as a bike speeds away as he prepares himself thinking what is he going to do. 'Follow the bike or follow the cars...choices...' Not waiting for the voice in his head to answer James says out loud, "The bike, Gotta follow that!

James taken on his hero persona Sliver he runs up the wall next to him and jumps out over the rum house. Moving his arm out quickly he shoots out a silvery web from his hand and grabs on and takes off. Repeatedly shooting out a new web once he swings to the max height. Using forward momentum to propel him forward. Looking down making sure to keep an eye on the girl who left the bar The voice in his head speaks to James, 'Why are we following? We go anywhere, why follow?' James laughs as he flips through the air and answers the voice in his head allowed, "Why not! We aren't doing anything besides this seems interesting enough to keep our interests for a while! If anything this could be a bit of fun!"

Flipping forward and looking at the bike seeing blue and red lights James says to himself, "Well looks like the cops are giving them a chase! Won't be getting far if they get caught by our former friends in blue Maybe we should lend a hand? What do you say buddy?" The voice in his head answers, 'We do this!'

While mid James turns and then a small glob turned from his silver suit similar to the webbing that he is using the swing through the air. James chucks the ball down at the 47th street down below him. A sticky web like ball meant to slow down or keeps things stuck to anything that runs into it. Throwing it right behind the bike riders looking to slow down the cops pursuing them. The voice in James's head speaks up, 'Careful, we are not unlimited. We need feed to sustain using this much biomass. We either swing or help bike not both for very long..." James interrupts the voice in his head throwing down a second web ball then says, "I know this my symbiote friend, helping a bit wont hurt us though."

James knows his own limits, this webbing isnt infinite but for now he can lend a little hand, although he can only imagine down below what they are seeing as silver web balls starts hitting the road behind them as He keeps swinging throughout the air trying to keep up with a speeding bike

After everyone else left alistar looks to draku and sling saying *well I guess we have some alone time with our new friends here* pointing to the man pinned to the wall and nodding to the paralyzed man behind the bar. First he grabs the paralyzed one he looks for a loose tooth, finding it he crushes it in front of the man's face grinning then punches him to knock him out again. Walking back in he knocks out the other one then smashes the limb encased in ice to throw him in the trunk.

Going to sling he gives him the address to the hotel saying *first hit the penthouse button then hold the basement button for six seconds then hit the penthouse button again. If any of the staff ask what you are doing just tell them oni sent you and they will leave you alone.* turning to draku he motions to get in. When he does alistar takes off to the hotel.

(Author's Note: I highly recommend listening to Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin while reading this.)

I hop onto to Jocelyn's bike. The sound of police sirens started to fill the air, an ominous crescendo as they began to get closer to the bar. Jocelyn starts the bike and speeds off. I had hoped we'd get a head start and quickly shake these fuckers. It looked like we would a for a short time. That is until we got onto 47th Street. It was pretty much empty save for us and the police car that was hot on our tails.

"We need to lose these guys asap!" I shout to her
"I'm trying!" She shouted back

I look behind us. The cops are getting closer. An idea pops into my head but I feel a bit reluctant to go through with it.

Doing something like that out in the open won't be good for us. There has to be another way…

"Do you know of any shortcuts? Just something that'll get us off this road and away from the cops?" I ask Jocelyn
"Yeah, I do. It's coming up in a few miles."
"I don't think we can wait that long."
"There's nothing else I can do at the moment unless you have another plan."
I pause "I do have one idea… but if we get caught it's gonna get us into a hell of a lot more trouble than we're already in."
"I don't really like the sound of that but at this point all that matters is getting out of New York." She pauses for a few moments "Do whatever you have to do."
"Alright… slow down a bit."
"What?!"
"Trust me. Just do it!"
"Oh, god. I already regret this." Jocelyn sighs and begins to slow down.

The gap between us and the cops starts to get smaller. I carefully stand on the bike's seat, keeping a hand on Joc's shoulder to steady myself and turn around.

"Keep the bike steady." I tell her
"Alright. What the hell are you doing?!" She exclaims

I don't answer. I'll give her a good explanation later, if we get out of this alive. I then turn to the cop car and stand up, straightening myself out a bit more. After a few moments, I jump onto the hood of the cop. I quickly reach into the back of my shirt and pull my handgun. I cock it and shoot the window a couple times. The glass cracks and I kick it to make it come shattering upon the two police inside the car. The woman that is sitting on the passenger side gets her gun out but quickly shoot her both in the head and chest. I swing myself into the car to then get rid of the cop driving. He tries to fight back but I get a few hits in before I'm able to then snap his neck. I push his body aside and slide on over to his seat, taking control of the car. I speed up to get myself next to Jocelyn. She looks over to me and I give her a little wave. Her eyes widen in shock.

"That was your plan?!" She yells at me. I simply give her smirk as a reply.

Needing to find a way out of here, I look around the car to see if I can find something to help me. I end up tearing off a shirt from one of the police and wrap it around a few heavy items I found in the car and on the bodies themselves. I set it against the gas pedal, making sure it's at the right angle and pushing down on it all the way so the car doesn't go speeding off. I then climb out the car and crouch on the roof. Jocelyn seems to understand what I'm going to do and starts to speed up. She gets closer to the car and I'm able to then jump back on the bike. Jocelyn swerves a bit but regains control easily.

"So, how close are we to that shortcut of yours?" I ask
"It's coming right up. You know, I didn't see all that you did back there but I get the feeling it was all very impressive."
"Your flattery is appreciated but not needed." I respond.
"Yeah, I get that." She replies. "I heard few gunshots back there. You okay?"
"I'm perfectly fine." I say "The cops tried their best to kill me and they failed."
"What are you going to do with the car?" She asks
"I'm just gonna let run till it runs out of gas or crashes. I'm assuming we'll be far away from here whenever that happens."
"That we will. Here comes the shortcut."

Jackson Hurley: AKA Slingshot

May 5th, 2012
Location: Manhattan, New York City

Slingshot nodded as he took the address in hand and watched the others preparing to leave. With the distraction underway, the vigilante kneeled next to the pile of corpses. He quickly lifted a sleeve, taking a picture of their markings before pocketing a few spare pistol magazines. He took a moment to examine one, and sure enough… armor piercing. Military Grade, and something you certainly couldn’t pick up at the local gun shop. With a quick zipping up of the jacket, Sling exited the bar through the back with his case in hand. He took a second to fasten it… and there they were. Cops. Only one squad car, from the sound of it. Seemed rather light for a shooting, but it was fairly late.

Slingshot swung his leg to straddle his bike as he fastened his helmet, sliding the visor down to obscure his face. Before launching out into the New York streets, Sling unholstered his SIG and a specially crafted holster located on the bike’s chassis. A small addition that the vigilante figured might actually come in handy, given the insanity around them. With everyone gone, Slingshot slid out onto an empty 46th street… a street that was far too empty for New York City.

He leisurely glided down the empty road, his eyes looking for any signs of life. Nothing. No pedestrians or other cars as he carefully prepared to turn left onto 6th. He almost didn’t notice the cars lined up, blocking the road until he heard the signature order to Freeze from a police officer. The line of cars were about 40 ft away, and the distinct sound of helicopter wings could be heard in the distance. It was certainly a trap, an interesting strategy that seemed too orchestrated for the NYPD. Certainly just a gift from the nice men at the bar.

Slingshot pulled on the brake, the Bike lurching to a stop but the engine continuing to run. Sirens began to blare behind the lone vigilante, who had chosen to go the opposite direction as his newfound compatriots. Within a few moments, Slingshot would be surrounded. Luckily, this wasn’t exactly Sling’s first time at the rodeo.

Five gunshots in rapid succession rang out only a few blocks away from Radio City Music Hall as the squealing of two tires on the uneven pavement accompanied. The police officers… the three still standing and not groaning on the ground from incapacitating shots, opened fire as Slingshot hopped up onto the curb and began to bounce down the steps into the NYC subway system. He leaned forward on his bike, lifting up the seat under him to pull out a small bundle. Sling pulled the pin of one of the grenades out of his mouth as he tossed it out in front of him once he hit the ground, sliding to a stop. After but a moment, the gates before him clanged to the ground as the detonation knocked them loose.

Slingshot drove out into the main terminal, and it became clear this is where the police had quickly evacuated civilians. Men, women, and children were all huddled on the ground, with a few police officers turning their attention clearly to the criminal. Slingshot revved his engine and drove past, the officers having difficulty landing a shot on the weaving target. Sling pulled the pin on another grenade as he held it in hand for a couple seconds before lobbing it at the gate before him. He cut it close as the bike shot through the weakened gate, dust and debris clouding the visor. The vigilante cleared it with his jacket sleeve as he began to ascend the stairs on the other side in a very bumpy and surprisingly uncinematic moment, one Jackson was not proud of.

Once out on the other side of the street, it became clear the NYPD were scrambling to find the vigilante. The streets of New York were narrow and not particularly designed for maneuverability… but the construction especially in light of recent events did provide grounds for cover. Slingshot’s ride was surprisingly silent (thank you hybrid engine) as it drove under a construction pedestrian barrier down W 49th street. The helicopter above nor the patrol cars below noticed the dark silhouette shooting down the walkways.

The perimeter established ended at 9th street, so Slingshot veered through a small open area at the border of the theater district, hopping onto W 50th and then into a parking garage, making his way past the barriers. He got out onto W 51st and far from harms way, making sure to drive quietly back into the light NY traffic as he made his way towards his home. It only took a few minutes as he pulled into the alleyway for the run-down, former SHIELD safehouse loft he was staying in.

The vigilante went to stand up, when he realized his legs weren't exactly in the same working order he had expected. Jackson fell to the ground next to his ride, falling on his side as several sharp pains became apparent. A few dull pains in his torso were obvious as clear bullet holes lined up near his shoulders, along with two shots in the back. The body suit had worked well to prevent penetration... but his right leg was another story. A lucky shot at the right angle managed to pierce his calf. Jackson ground his teeth as he pulled himself to his feet, getting up to guide his bike into a rather large garage he opened with a quick button-press on his phone. "Damn... At least that looked cool. Can't wait to tell them about it later."

After Jord had arrived back at the bar he was once again confronted by the woman trying to heal him. This time however, she seemed very determined to do it, and he could see it was going to be very hard to get rid of the waitress this time. So he yielded. He grabbed the power armour glove of his right hand using his left, and clicked a switch located near the wrist. The ancient mechanisms inside the armour let loose and Jord took off the armored glove. Immediately, it was as if a part of his being was removed. Because he was neurally connected to the power armour by the implant that had, as he saw it, always been there for some mysterious reason, he could feel the parts of the armour and use them as if they were part of him. He grumbled a bit and then shrugged, and then shook the waitresses hand. Instantly, he could feel his wounds closing, including the wounds he had suffered but a few days ago when he had been hired to attack some organization's base of operations, and felt rejuvenated. He also noticed something new, but couldn't quite place wat it was. It seemed like his vision had gone sharper, or possibly his hearing or sense of smell. He decided to ignore this new stuff in favour of getting away as soon as possible.

It was clear at least to him, and possibly the others, that he was not going to fit in a car or on a motorcycle. So after giving the idea some thought, he decided he was going to stay in New York for now and see what the others were up to. That question was soon answered as the man named "Slingshot" adressed the group. He could go either to Boston, which was not an option for him at the moment, go help Alistar with interrogation, which the mercenary did not feel like doing, and meeting Slingshot at some street he didn't know. Out of all those options, he chose the latter, as it was the easiest thing to do for him. He took off his helmet and said to the others that were still present: "I will choose the third option." Jord started hearing the sirens of police approaching. He put his helmet back on and quickly went outside. He had prepared himself for a quick getaway by grabbing his armour and weaponry when he had been in his hotel earlier, but it looked like there was still some time left before he had to be at the assembly point at the alley. And thus he stepped through the Rum House's doorway only to be greeted by a mostly empty street, except for a cop car that was quickly driving towards the bar. Somehow, however, the car did not notice the 7-foot tall man clad in power armour that made him even taller , possibly distracted by something else, and Jord was able to slip away as far as that was possible for someone like him.

Sadly for him, however, he was not able to sneak back to the hotel he was staying at. As soon as he exited the street the Rum House was in, he saw a line of police cars barricading the road much like the street Slingshot was in. Jord was not in possesion of a motorcycle, and quickly activated his shield, holding it in front of him as it formed a rectangular force field. It was not too soon as the police immediately opened up fire on him. The bullets merely bounced off his shield and Jord continued walking unharmed. When he got close enough to the line of police cars, he grapped his sword from his back, holding it in his right hand as he walked. The low sun reflected off it, making it look like it was on fire, and the sight must've been impressive for anyone who was still around. He arrived at the line, and deactivated his shield. He ran forward and gripped his sword in two hands before thrusting it into the nearest police officer. The other cops were too shocked to move and Jord spun around to the next, using the energy from his spin to lop another cop's head straight off. They got the message, and tried to run away. Jord let them, and he ran to the nearest alley as the cops started shooting in his direction again. They were not quick enough and Jord used the opportunity to hide nearby as the police called in reinforcements to find him. He snuck to his hotel when he saw the street being clear of cops.

Jord did not have much time and as soon as he was in his hotel room he grabbed everything he needed, mostly consisting of ammunition for his BFG, as well as some spare clothes and other things he found useful. He usually travelled light and was quickly done packing up. Ten minutes later, he was at the alley to the left of West 57th.

Jocelyn Victoria Beatrice Harmon AKA Tonic

Location: Westside of the Theater District, East of Hell’s Kitchen; One the Streets and Avenues of Manhattan

May 6th, 2012
The ride to the apartment was uneventful after that. Probably due to my doubling back. Quickly I parked the bike next to my Honda Civic and reaching into my jacket pocket I toss Lenora the keys to the car and hand her about 40 dollars. “Hop in and keep her running I will be right down. I am used to this. Sadly I pack light and live out of suitcases...well suitcase. Be out in a jiffy.”

I run up the stairs trying not to think about how Finnlay is probably not happy with me. How he's as close to a normal relationship I got and it scared me so I took off. For as long as I have been alive no one has ever come that close. Before I know it I am at my door and unlocking it. I stuff all the clothes in my suitcase which is indeed lying open. Thankfully I had washed all my clothes just yesterday at the laundromat. Then I grab the kit.

The kit is a one stop shop for getting the hell out of Dodge. Lighter fluid, matches, ammonia…basic necessities for arson and erasing my DNA. Ammonia gets splashed all over the bathroom. Bathtub, sink, toilet, floor everywhere. The same with the kitchen. Using ammonia soaked rags to wipe off cutlery that gets tossed in the sink. I am not taking it and this place is going up in smoke. Literally. The bed, couch, chairs lighter fluid in copious amounts. Then as I am walking out strike a match and it goes up in flames quickly. Doing the same to the couch and furniture I walk out the door and with gloves on close it. Rushing down the stairs I pull the fire alarm.

Getting back to Lenora I signal her to pop the trunk. As she does I put my things in the trunk and hop on the bike and start it up. I start to see people scrabble and gun the engine. Safe to say we are getting out of here. I toss the apartment keys along the way to the bar. She follows me back to the bar where just outside is Draco and Pretty Eyes. Amazingly unharmed. Apparently luck is still with us. I quickly write down the address of my place in Boston. “Here this is the address to my place in case we get separated. Oh you have the house key and the cash was if you need to fill up. I will get you there but just in case remember 63 Cart Path Road Weston, MA. I have to meet up with...a contact to get more cash and other things. Do not ask just know that I will be back after about a couple of hours with coffee and breakfast. We have to make this fast so in you go and off we go.” I sync up my bluetooth to my phone and put my hair in a low ponytail put my earpiece in then put on my helmet. Setting the phone to read texts or emails I rev the bike and speed off. I am sure that Lenora can keep up with me. About an hour out of Boston I get an email.‘I have some jobs that you could do for some quick cash it just depends on what your willing to do. And If you need a place to laylow and stay I can help you there to.’

Fortunately luck seems to be holding and we get to the house just fine. I wave and speed off to the pre arranged meeting place not wanting to keep Finnlay waiting. I am about five minutes early and park and pull off my helmet walking over to the bandstand. Butterflies in my stomach and I am drag ass tired and hoping he does not blow me off.

Finnlay had left in such a hurry from his apartment that he hadn't noticed that he left with an hour until he had to get to the park. Realizing he had plenty of time Finnlay decided to take the long way around town and drove slower than normal to try and clear his mind. The lights of shops where mostly out save a few neon signs that seemed to just faded away from his vision. His mind was trying to work out everything that was happening or what was going to happen. Something didn't seem right in the email she sent him. He couldn't get what kind of trouble she could get in that she would have to take a 4 hour drive at night to meet someone she had not talked to in 2 years. As far as he knew she was just a bartender.

Finally Finn pulled his bike up to the park as he parked it leaving his helmet on the handle bar. Sighing he looked around and realized no one else was there yet. He began to walk over to a bench not to far from where he parked his bike. Looking at his watch he realized he had about 10 minutes until she was supposed arrive. Taking his seat at the bench he looked over towards his bike waiting to see Jocelyn pull up. His mind was racing almost as fast as his heart was as he waited for her to show up. He was nervous since he had no idea how this would all play out. Then after about of 5 minutes of waiting he heard another motorcycle pull up near where he was sitting. Snapping him out his daze Finnlay looked up to she Jocelyn step off the bike as she took of her helmet letting her hair fall down. Finn felt his stomach start turning inside as she began walking towards him. ‘What have I gotten myself into?’

Jackson Hurley: AKA Slingshot

May 5th, 2012
Location: Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City, NY

By the time the man in the metal suit arrived, Jackson was pulling down the leg of his jeans and regretted not wearing the lower-half of his suit under his clothing. Sitting next to him was a metal table, upon which rested a small bin of collapsed bullets (one of which was covered in blood). The garage was rather spacious given the minimal setup. The metal table was host to two more gun cases, on top of the gun case on the back of Slingshot's bike. There was a red tool center on the other side of the garage, next to a black RAM ProMaster Cargo Van.

The van was clearly modified upon a closer inspection. The rivets and subtle metalwork of installed armor plating was visible from the outside of the van, along with sliding armor plates installed on the windshield and cab doors. Slingshot hobbled towards the back of the van and opened it up to reveal a sliding metal ramp and a decked-out interior. The inside of the van had a large open floorspace, but was also host to what appeared to be a mobile communications and surveillance setup, as well as a mobile gun rack. Jackson motioned towards the bike and gun cases. "Move the bike and gun cases into the back. I'm going to go upstairs and send down the rest of the shit we need to move over to the hotel. Don't break any of it."

With those brief orders, Jackson made his way upstairs.

It took Jackson about ten minutes to finish his backing and watch the freight elevator begin to lower towards the garage. He moved on to back his last personal effects, namely a case of whiskey and vodka. His kitchen overlooked the living room where the flatscreen was, so Jackson decided to turn on the TV to see if their escapades had been picked up. Sure enough, as the TV flickered to life, the graphics for the news illuminated the mostly dark loft.

"This just in... In the wake of the devastating attack on New York City, it appears lawlessness has taken hold. In a small bar near Broadway there was a shootout between powerful criminals and off-duty police officers. The officers attempted to stop the assortment of criminals, but were unsuccessful. The individuals fled the scene in multiple vehicles and on foot. As of this moment, there are at least seven individuals who have died from their injuries, while fourteen are in critical condition. Amongst the deceased are Officers Tyrel Dean and Timothy Rorick, who appear to have been executed in the streets by a man in a suit of armor and wielding a broadsword. We will be updating you on this story throughout the night as we receive more information." To accompany the broadcaster, a graphic revealed the identities of those clearly connected to the shooting. Jord's power armor had been caught by CCTV, as well as Slingshot's bike and casual getup. Jocelyn's face and Ava's blurry profile had similarly been captured on CCTV during their brief chase. A picture of Alistar's mustang was similarly highlighted on screen. The footage had been secured within the half hour of the incident, almost as if HYDRA had made sure any incriminating data could have been gathered.

Slingshot flinched as he heard his phone begin to ring. There was no point in checking the caller-ID on the SHIELD issued device. He sighed as he muted the news program and took a break from packing up his liquor. As soon as the phone was lifted to his ear, Jax sighed as a familiar voice screamed from god-knows-where. "Damn it, Jax. When I gave you the files to check in on a few of our potential assets because we've been up to our ass in cleaning up alien guts, it wasn't an invitation to go play Avengers with homicidal maniacs! You killed cops!"

"I didn't kill anyone, Mayers... and they weren't cops. Not all of them. Their bodies have probably already been collected. The people at the bar were ex-military, hired by someone to cause some serious shit. Not sure who paid them, but we've got one of the mercs in custody and we're transporting him to a safe location."

"It isn't custody, Jax. You're not an agent. It's kidnapping, even if they are mercenaries... Damn it, Jax, I can't protect you. If the higher-ups find out that I've given you-"

"You didn't give me shit, Mayers. I stole some tech when I left. And I'm not going to ask you to protect me. They'll probably assign Colson on my case, and I can reason with him if it comes down to it." There was a long pause. An uncomfortable silence, which signaled only one thing in Jackson's mind. "Fuck... Aliens?"

"Yeah... I trust you, Jax. Do what you have to... you're on your own. SHIELD isn't going to be on your side, so you're going to have to deal with this permanently or not at all."

The virtual receiver clicked and the air went dead. It was quiet in the loft, a benefit to the soundproofing Jackson had installed. But the silence was deafening apart from the rushing of blood. Jackson was furious. He hastily closed up his case of liquor and grabbed his suitcase whilst stomping towards the elevator to leave his home for what could be the last time.

Once downstairs, Jackson quickly tossed his suitcase and the liquor case into the back of the truck, closing the doors and making his way towards the front of the cab. He didn't say a word, and didn't wait for Jord as he climbed up into the driver's seat and revved the engine. He peeled out of the garage and towards the address Alistar had given him, not bothering to say a single word to the armored individual who helped him move.

As they sped away alistar turned the radio on and heard the news. Punching the steering wheel he does a sharp turn down an alley looking for any type of car. After ten minutes of searching he found a beat up Oldsmobile and starts to transfers the paralyzed men into the trunk then pours gas all over the mustang. Alistar would mutter a few words with his hand signs to produce a small fireball, incinerating the car with all the DNA evidence and peels out with draku passed the police barricades towards the hotel.

Finally getting back home he enters the garage, parking the car while looking around to see if anyone was there. Satisfied he has draku carry one of the guys as he carried the other to the elevator and punches the code to the underground base. Smiling he says *welcome to my home*, this base was massive with multiple rooms covered in black marble. Linning the walls were old relics. One piece in particular was a massive sword embedded in the dirt behind glass *draku let's put them inside this room here and I will get the chains to tie them up. I say we wait for sling he might want to help us ask a few questions. *. Pointing to the room behind them he puts his guy in a chair and goes to get the chains and cuffs.

Draku would have long discarded the unconscious body, sliding the man across the floor towards the area Alistar wanted them, and approached the sword on display, "How did you get this?" He'd growl, turning to look for Alistar, "Better question. Who are you?" He turned to face the weapon once more, placing his hand upon the glass. He couldn't even begin to remember when he last saw this blade. His blade.

Jackson Hurley: AKA Slingshot

May 6th, 2012
Location: New York

Slingshot made his way through the light traffic with ease, managing to pull out of the alley just before squad cars began to push their search perimeter to incorporate his home. With a few flicks on the bootleg police scanner in front of the passenger seat, the vigilante listened to the local police movement patterns. They weren't looking for him, not in the given vehicle and not in his quick change of clothing. His black leather jacket and lack of a helmet appeared to be paying off as he made his way towards the location Alistar had given him. The drive was relatively boring compared to the high-tension he had faced earlier, between the bar fight and the chase. This was the best action Jax had seen since he had left SHIELD, and he wondered why he had ever left.

Jax pulled up towards the hotel, parking in the garage. Once there, the vigilante took a moment to take a few breaths. He hadn't slept much the night before, having gotten up incredibly early to speak with Mayers. To be fair, Jackson didn't sleep well at all since the warehouse. Once ready to work again, Jax grabbed two of his cases and made his way towards the elevator. Once inside, he followed Alistar's instructions. Penthouse, Basement.... hold.... hold... penthouse. Once the sequence was completed, Jax tapped his foot as he waited to see what would await him when the sequence had completed.

Jocelyn Victoria Beatrice Harmon AKA Tonic & Finnlay MacTyre AKA Smoke Screen

Location: Boston

Interaction: Finnlay MacTyre @sly13

May 6th, 2012
Damn. Not fair. He has changed. Beard is new. As well as that look in his eyes. Now he's leery of me. Well that is what I get for running off. I can lie to myself and say it was because of my rule of not staying in one place to long but I know that is a lie. Now I get to do all the talking. And I have got a lot to say. I walk over to him and hear him ask what he got himself into.

I look up and those blue eyes. Damn. “A long explanation for one, plus an apology.”

Finnlay kept his eyes on her the whole time as she walked towards him. She had not changed a bit from the last time he saw her. Hearing her words Finnlay snapped out of his daze. “That would be a start.”. He tried his best to keep his voice hard but he could feel it waver with every word. “Why?”

I closed my eyes briefly. “Why apologize? Why explain? Because well first off I am not what you think. I did not think you would want the kind of trouble that keeps following me around. I have been looking over my shoulder too long. I was, am, terrified that I would do something to cock this up. Besides what I have already bloody well done, and I am sorry, Quiet Man.” I fidget and play with my hair. I cannot help being nervous. Serious conversation does that to me. Puts me off balance and I would bet all the tea in Britain that he knows it.

Finnlay took in all that Jocelyn had said. His mind was trying to process it all. He let a small laugh out of his lips at hearing her call him Quiet man. “I haven’t heard that name in a long time.” He looked at her again, studying her and trying to figure out what she meant by ‘I am not what you think.’ He had felt a little insulted that she thought he wouldn’t understand the whole looking over your shoulder life, but then again she didn’t know everything he had gone through so he couldn’t hold that against her. “You know playing with your hair always gave away that you were nervous.” Taking Another breath he thought how best to continue with her. “If you were in trouble or something why didn’t you talk to me? Ask for help anything. You just wandered off and I had no idea what happened to you.” He could his temper starting to flair as he continued talking. “Bloody hell I thought you had died until I found out you had gone to New York.” He paused for a moment in shock. He wasn’t supposed to mention the part where he had tracked her down and found she had gone to New York. He just hoped that she wouldn’t notice but he knew she had caught that especially with the look on her face.

I quit fiddling with my hair stunned. I couldn't believe it. “You tracked me down? Why?”

Finnlay let out a sigh. He hoped he could have kept that a secret but of course his temper had Royally screwed him once again. “Because I didn’t know what had happened to you. I thought had been killed or kidnapped or worse. Once I found you in New York and knew that you were safe I left. It seemed like you clearly wanted nothing left to do with me or anyone else here so I left and acted like I had no clue what happened. if he thought about it, it was probably weird that he had spent all the time it took to make sure she was safe from her point of view. But he was fine if that made her mad, it was worth it in his book. He just hoped she wouldn’t start trying to figure out how he had done it. That was a long list of barrier secrets that he did not want to start unburying.

I was stunned and worried. I had people try to follow me and had lost them. Was I losing my touch? Is that how SHIELD and Hydra had found me? “You might want to sit down for this. I am a mutant. And I took off because I did not want to burden you with that knowledge. Now I really have no choice and need somewhere safe to lay low. Apparently my cover has been blown. And I have no idea how bad it really is.” I had pulled my hair across my shoulder and was fidgeting with it realizing finally what I was doing flipped it back over my shoulder. I was nervous and rightly so. I had pretty much bailed on him two years ago. I still wanted to know how he'd managed to find me but it was always better to not drag it out of him. He clammed up if he thought you were forcing it from him.

Finnlay just kept his eyes locked on her. He had not been expecting that to come from her. He had always had his suspicions about her being a mutant as well but was never sure. He wasn't sure what to say back to her after that. He had asked her about her past before but she had always dodged the question somehow. “What happened to you that would make you not trust me? I mean I get not wanting to trust others but I thought I always made it clear I would watch out for you.” He was doing his best to dance around how he had found her or how he could understand. Even if she had just confessed to him about something like that there was no way he could. No matter what danger she was in there the danger that followed him would be far worse. “Why have you been running? And more importantly what could be so bad that you would open up about being a mutant to me.” Looking at her seriously he said “Just what kind of trouble are you in love.”

Just like that I felt like a heel. One bloody word and I feel like a right get. I blow out a breath. I hate feeling like this but he deserves an answer. “It is not that I do not trust you, if I did not trust you I would not be here now Quiet Man.” I sighed deeply. “I have a hard time losing people I care about and I have learned that distance is better than hurting. Please believe me when I say that leaving tore out a piece of me. Which is still here in your hands.” I laugh humorlessly. “I was twenty over sixty years ago, and have lost too many friends to lose someone more important than that. Ever heard of something called Weapon X?” I looked at him imploringly.

He looked shocked by everything that was happening. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. If she had problems with weapon X then that could lead to big conflicts later on. “Yes I’ve heard of them and I know what they do.” He was trying his best to piece together how she fit into this. Given her being 20 60 years ago according to her he figured her power must have been healing or immortality. He had heard stories of someone with a similar ability in China though it was never proven as far as he was aware. ‘They probably want to duplicate that power for their beloved super soldiers.’ “Why are you asking about Weapon X?” He asked as he could feel himself ready for a fight. He didn’t think she would be with them given how she was acting but he never knew and as far as he new they could have tracked her all the way here.

“That is what my parents turned me over to at the age of six. The torture and experimentation I underwent changed my original mutation of just healing touch to add in regeneration. Then when they could prove that took they pumped me full of every organic and man made toxin, poison and venom they could. That was horrific. I have worked to purge the toxins but they are a part of me. I can isolate it to my left hand hence why I wear gloves. Spent some time running and I am done with that for now.” I sigh heavily and shudder reliving my memories.

Finnlay stared into her eyes before she closed them at reliving the horrible past she had just described. “I’m so sorry Hálainn. I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like to go through all those experiments. But trust me when I say I know what it’s like to live like this.” He paused for a brief second “On the run I mean of course.” He said to quickly trying to cover up the major slip he had just made. He was usually much more calm and collected than this but he was nervous and she could see it. He wasn’t worried about her thinking he was a freak or something considering she was a mutant as well. He was more scared of what would happen she put the other pieces together.

Shaking off the past I look up at Finnlay. “That is the short version. I am not up for the long version tonight.” I tilt my head back closing my eyes. Stretching like a cat I open my eyes and look right at him. “You keep clarifying your statements. You can either tell me or not, Quiet Man. This is about reaching out to you and letting you decide what happens. As for trouble, that I have in spades.”

Finnlay sighed giving a look of defeat to Jocelyn. “I suppose it was inevitable. Though I guess showing you would be faster and easier.” He could see Jocelyn was giving him a questioning look, but something in her eyes said that she already knew what was coming. Finnlay took a step back as so that he would be easy to see. Then he let his body slowly turn completely into a black cloud of smoke. After a few seconds passed he reformed his body just as it had been prior. He looked at her with a ting of guilt in his eyes. “I’m afraid that’s all your gonna hear tonight. The rest of it is to dangerous for you to know as thugs are now.” With that he started to walk back towards his bike. “Follow me. I have your money in my bike. If you need a place to lay low you can come by my apartment, no one should find you there.” He stopped for a minute before adding. “And as for the job you can either work at the boxing gym as a sort of Assistant or at the Black Rose as a bartender.” Finnlay stopped for a moment before adding “Don’t tell a soul about what you saw under any circumstance. Not to a friend, dog, or to a boyfriend.” He had hesitated with the last part of that request but he had chalked it up to it being late.

I had to laugh at that last part. I answered after I could breathe. “Right boyfriend. That is rich. How do you keep something like what I am from a boyfriend? It was hard enough keeping it from you. So secrets on both sides. I am fine keeping it. Bartender is probably too much exposure. Assistant will do fine. I am exhausted and I have more to tell you but I need sleep.”

Finnlay and Jocelyn had made it back to their bikes. Reaching into the bag on the back of his bike he grabbed an envelope. “There should be 600 dollars in there. Hopefully that’s enough to get you started before you get paid for helping at the gym.” He said as he handed over the envelope with a smile. “Like I said I have room at my apartment if you need a place to lay low. If not I’ll see you 8:00 tomorrow at the gym.” By the time he was done he had already put on his helmet and glasses. Once he new that she heard him he stared up the motorcycle and began to drive away.

The drive to Jocelyn's place was quiet. I was thankful to be driving alone. I never liked conversing with other people. It always felt like a trivial thing to do. I certainly had no intention of trying to make friends with any of the people at the bar. It's common knowledge for any spy or assassin to know that relationships of any type don't work when you're in those lines of business. Growing up alone, it was very easy for me to adapt to that. Too easy, some might say. I've been called "cold" and "distant" too many times to even count. That being said, I was never one for following rules and I just can't seem to learn from my mistakes so I can safely say I've had my fair share of secret relationships. None of them ended very well, but that was expected. The death of a girlfriend or the sacrifice of a friend never surprised me. It's not like I didn't care. I did. Every time I lost someone special and close to me I would cut a little notch into the hilt of my shashka in honor of them. It's not much, but it's the best I could do for them. Of course, I lost others simply because I'm just terrible at relationships… or I was tasked with killing them. When I lost my first boyfriend it really stung. Especially knowing it was my fault that he left me because I was unable to fully reciprocate his feelings and kind gestures. But even after all of that, I was able to move on. I was able to focus on my mission, which was and will always be more important than any person.

The drive continued to be uneventful. In fact, I was starting to feel a little impatient.

How long is this fucking drive?

I sighed, turning on the radio, hoping for something to distract myself. Instead, it turned out to be a report about the recent attack at the bar.

"Following the events of the alien attack, a bar located in Hell's Kitchen was just-"

Rolling my eyes, I quickly switch to a new station. I've no reason to hear about an attack I already had the pleasure of being in. The station I switched to was an alternative music station. It was playing a song I didn't know. It just sounded like a bunch of screaming along with your usual distortion-laden guitar playing your typical power chords. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy rock. I enjoy some metal too but I don't get what is referred to as "screamo". I don't see how someone could enjoy listening to it. Personally, I'm more of a classical music kind of woman. Mozart, Chopin, Bach, and the rest. Something about that music just really helps me focus. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a classical station. So, after a while of going through everything, I settled on the alternative station once again.

After a while though, I ended up turning off the radio. A sense of relief washed over me as the silence returned. For a while, I went back to feeling the same way I felt before. A bit impatient but overall just "meh". The sound of the car driving on an empty road was oddly calming, as well as the overall silence that had befallen me ever since I turned the radio off. Unfortunately, that state of serenity I was momentarily in turned into unease, as I could feel a familiar feeling start to creep its way to the forefront of my conscious. My mind wanted to wander. Wanted to recollect. This familiar silence became a little… too quiet. It reminded me of the nights I spent alone back in the District. Those cold, dark nights where the only sound came from the crunching of the snow beneath my feet and the occasional howling of the wind. Those nights where I'd sleep in an abandoned car, hoping and praying that if I were to be found it wouldn't be by my monstrous parents or the police. And how could I forget the nights where I just wandered the empty streets alone and questioned whether or not these powers were a curse or not. Yes, my powers were part of the reason I was able to survive and for that I was thankful for. But there were too many times I just wished they'd just go away and the bitter cold could just take me. Death just seemed better than this seemingly endless search for I don’t even know what that I was on. I would constantly go back forth between a state of determination and of hopelessness. At one point, I was beginning to feel like I was losing my mind. I felt like I was in a terrible, inescapable nightmare. The night I was found by the Inhuman Gordon and taken to the Afterlife, I was contemplating killing myself. At that time, I had been wandering through the forest and found a cave to take shelter in. There was a weirdly shaped stone that very sharp. I had intended to use that to kill myself. I wanted to find a way to escape this. Ending my life seemed like the only way out. After I arrived in the Afterlife though, I began to feel like I would be okay. That my life would be fine. I started to figure out who I was and that made me happy. Being around others like myself gave me a sense of belonging.

But then that all changed. It changed about as quickly as Jiaying driving that knife into Lizzie's abdomen. That night, in the blink of an eye, my whole life changed. The only person in my life that had ever really cared about me died right before my eyes. Holding her limp body made me realize I never wanted to love again. Of course, being the idiot I am, I continued to have many secret relationships, both platonic and romantic, after that. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I secretly enjoy the pain that comes from losing someone special or maybe I'm just stupid. Maybe it's both. I haven't changed though. The only thing that is different is that I now expect for things to go awry. It's always the same thing. Get a job, stay there for a while, meet somebody, get too close, lose them, and then move on to either someone else or a completely new job. Lucky for me, I didn't meet anybody while working for Kazimir and his gang. Most of his members were a bunch of perverted assholes anyway. I've dated some not-so-great people in the past but I don't date scum.

My thoughts were thankfully interrupted as I came upon a fork in the road. I looked at the address Jocelyn gave me and turned right. I was getting close to her house.

Finally.

It’s not that I wasn't enjoying my little trip down memory lane…. well, actually I wasn't. I don't like thinking about the past. I prefer to focus on the present. That's what matters most. Especially now that my life might be in more danger than it usually is.

James Walker AKA Sliver

Location: Manhattan New York
Interactions:

Zipping through the air Sliver swings on his webbing trying to keep up with the car and bike that was going to boston. Looking down at the cops following them, with very little he could do from the air he decided it was best to try a find a way to help from the air. Looking around Sliver smiled looking at a helicopter. "I believe I found us a ride." The symbiote voice in his head responses, 'We take...' Laughing James responds, "Yeah we are going to take it."

Slinging out a web Sliver hits the bottom of the chopper with a web. Using his own strength Sliver pulls himself up the webbing until he touches the bottom of the police helicopter. James then says to himself, "No killing, we knock them out and restrain them then we simply take the helicopter. Simple let's do this!"

Sliver crawls from the bottom of the helicopter and knocks on one side of the chopper. Before any answer could be made he slides to the other side of chopper and opens the door then yells, "Surprise!" Sliver throws a silver glob ball of web into the face of the cop in the back. Quickly misjudging how many were inside as there were two in the back and two in the cockpit of the chopper. The cop in the back goes for his gun. Sliver quickly slaps the gun to the side and makes the comment, "Careful with that you'll shoot your eye out with that!"

Bang! Bang! Two bullets into the back of Sliver the copilot shot Sliver in the back. Silvery liquid and blood flows down his suit two holes that would normally drop a normal individuals At first he didn't move than his shoulders rolled forward then let out a groan that sounded in a mix of pain and annoyance, "Owwwww! Didnt I just saw you will put out an eye with that!" Sliver turns then pokes the copilot in the eye and his hand then envelops the entire head with a massive head size glob. He then pulls the copilot forward then into the cops in the back throwing the glob with them it springs out trapping the three men in the back of the chopper.

Once down Sliver quickly takes a seat next to the pilot then says, "You want to stay there or with your buddies in the back? You are going to follow my instructions and some people for me. First let me borrow your radio. Stay quiet now this is important."

First clearing his throat then speaking into the microphone over the radio, "Bravo, bravo, this chopper nine. We have eyes on the suspects. They are last seen heading back to the Rum house going through some residential areas. They maybe hiding down back alleyways." Lying over the radio to get the cops off the girl's backs. Sitting back in the seat the holes in his back slowly fad away and the bullets pop back out of his body as the holes close. Giving slight orders to the pilot as they made their way to boston.

After a flight follow those down below. Quickly being thankful he took the chopper as he wouldn't have been able to follow as far as he had. Looking a the pilot he says, "Thanks for the ride. Sorry about your friends in the back but they shot me and got into the sticky situation they are in."

Seeing not much he ordered the pilot to land a bit away from where they were going. Then says, "Thanks for the ride, when you wake up you can go home." Before the pilot could ask what he meant Sliver quickly punches the pilot in the jaw knocking him out with one punch. Quickly making his way to where he saw the bikes stopped, his suit changed from again. Going from the silvery super suit into his casual business suit.

Once there he noticed one starting up one of the bikes and driving away. James then spoke, almost yelling trying to talk over the engine of the motorcycle, "Nice driving back there! You gave the boys in blue the slip pretty nicely! Don't worry about their chopper, they are busy stuck in their current situation!"

Looking at draku, alistar rubs the back of his neck "so you really don't know?" draku would just stand there with his arms cross staring at him with a look that said really mother fucker. "we met at a tournament that this emperor was host to find able bodied men to fight against the invading army, and we were the last standing. When it came to us fighting each other that fight lasted for hours, until the emperor himself stopped it and asked us to become his elite honor guard. For the longest time we were doing good until one day we found out that the people were sent against weren't invaders. They were rebels who didn't agree with the ways of the emperor, once we found out about this we left to go aid them. The actions we took help save thousands of innocent people but it resulted in our deaths. When I came back all I found was your sword and it wouldn't budge so after many temps of moving the sword I tried moving the dirt underneath it. Once that worked I brought it to safe place. Oh and to who I am we were like brothers but it seems you don't remember."

Turning around he says "I mourned over you like a brother, you are or I should say we're the closest thing I had to a brother. I won't let you down again. "

The elevator doors opened into a spotless, state of the art base that instantly sparked Sling's jealousy. The vigilante had to live in a decrepit building and use that as a base of operations over the past few months, rather than live in a luxury hero-cave. Regardless, Sling shook his head as he picked up the two cases he had on him and walked into the base. Rather quickly, he noticed the hulking figure of Alistar approaching. "Sling I don't know how you run interrogations so I will follow your lead, oh and is it safe to assume shield has a document on me? Oh yes I know about them and Hydra, perks of being old as I am. If they do, you know about my techniques?" Jackson gave a short nod. "I read your file on the way over. Open the wounds one at a time. I've heard it's effective."

Sling nodded, and the two finally made their way into a small concrete room where the last surviving Hydra agent from the Rum House sat, chained into a metal chair in the middle of the room. He couldn't move a muscle, which was quite frankly what the two men wanted. The hydra agent's cold steel eyes scanned both of them, and the intent was crystal clear. Slingshot made his way to the wall, leaning against it and watching as Alistar got to work. The demonic man placed a hand on the Hydra agent's chest, and blood began to pour out from his right arm. Even for an individual used to dealing with some powered individuals, the shock and the pain sent the hostile into a screaming fit.

Alistar spoke up, his deep voice echoing in the small room. "Who were you after?"

"Go... to Hell..."

Alistar's lips curled into a knowing smile. "I've already been." Another touch, and another gaping bullet wound opened in the agent's right forearm. Relived pain tempered the agent's attitude rather quickly. "Jackson Hurley and Ava Alkaev... Those were the names given."

Slingshot gave a small smile as he approached, Alistar taking a few steps back as the former SHIELD agent approached. "Who sent you?"

"I... I don't know."

Another wound opened after the non-answer, and blood was clearly beginning to pool on the cold, concrete floor. The screaming was muffled by five feet of concrete. "I've had a real shitty day motherfucker. Who... sent... you?" Jackson's voice was filled with rage. It had been over a year since his last "enhanced interrogation," but to a man like him it was like riding a bike: you never really forget.

"They... call us on burners. Voice modulator. No names, no faces."

Jackson gave a nod to Alistar, who gave a small nod back. The agent was being more compliant than either had anticipated. Jackson leaned in towards the agent, getting only inches from his face. "Where can I find more of your friends? You had to have organized somewhere."

The agent shook his head, keeping his mouth shut. This wouldn't do. Jackson dug his thumb into the bullet-hole in his right arm, and the agent squealed in pain. "Fuck! Warehouse A8... Hell's Kitchen."

Jackson gave a small smile, wiping his bloody finger on the agent's shirt. He had nearly all of the answers he could have asked for... except one. "Why were they after Ava? I get having me as a target... but why her?"

The Hydra agent gave a small smile. "She's our assassin... Guess she outlived her purpose." Jackson's persona of power shattered. He took a few steps back, making his way towards the door while pulling out his phone. He needed to warn them. as soon as possible. Before he could navigate towards the burner phone he had given Joc, the agent spoke up once more. "Cut off one head... another two take its place. You can't stop us... but Lester told us you'd try anyways if we didn't kill you."

Slingshot's blood ran cold and he darted out of the room with Alistar in pursuit. "Draku, we need to get the others fast. Here are the keys to a hog upstairs." He tossed the keys with precision, before calling after Sling. "I'll drive the Ferrari, you try the cell." Jackson shook his head as he was typing a quick text on his cell. "I'm taking my own wheels, it's faster than it looks." He joined the others in the elevator, pressing send on his text.

<We need a team meeting ASAP, we'll come to you. Where are you?>

Once I arrived at Jocelyn's house, I took a look at my surroundings. She lived in the middle of nowhere. Her house was nestled between a few trees, providing a form of protection from the eyes of others. The house itself was kind of small but nice. It didn't look old and run-down, which is what I'd expect a house that is in a place like this to look like. For some reason, as I looked around a nervous feeling began to form in the pit of my stomach.

I got a bad feeling about this…

Granted, it could just be the fact it's very dark outside and that this looks like the start of a horror film that I'm feeling uneasy once again. But if I've learned anything over the years it's to always trust your gut. I slide my handgun out and get it cocked and ready for any possible enemy that may jump out at me.

I just can't seem to catch a break.

I slowly walk towards the front door, making sure to keep my eyes peeled for any movement and my steps quiet as to not alert anyone, or anything, that may be here. I unlock the door and slowly open it, waiting a few moments before stepping in. It is pitch black inside so I look around for a light switch. I quickly find one near the front door. The light above me turns on. I go through the house doing the same thing in each room. As I do, I look around carefully to see if anyone is there. After going through all the rooms and turning on the lights, I make my way back to the kitchen. I set my gun on the island and go to get a glass of water. I feel puzzled. Something still feels off. I feel as though something terrible could happen at any moment yet, there's nothing and nobody around to cause any harm.

This can't be right. My gut feeling has never been wrong. Though I suppose there is a first time for everything...

After taking a few drinks of water and setting my glass down, I decided to look around once again. I head to the living room first. It still looks the same. No signs of somebody else being here. I notice a book on the coffee table and go to pick it up. It's a book about art from the renaissance era.

Interesting. I didn't think someone like her would be interested in topics like that.

I set the book down. I hear the sound of a door opening and closing and of footsteps. I quickly reach for my gun. I feel nothing. My eyes widen as I remember I left my handgun in the kitchen.

Damn!

I go to plan B and take out my knife. I get into position and wait as the footsteps get closer and closer. As they turn the corner and enter the room, I lunge for them… and they block my attack. They push me back, making me lose my balance for a moment before I quickly regain it.

"Hey!" The person says "What the hell are you doing?!"
"Who are you?" I ask, defensively
"My name's James. I was at the bar during the attack."
"I don’t remember seeing you fighting."
"Yeah, I was kind of in the middle of having a drink." He replies
"How did you get here?"
"Helicopter."
I stare at him in disbelief. "Helicopter? You rode a helicopter?"
"You bet."
I continue to stare at him. "How did you… you know, I don't wanna know."

As I put away my knife, I turn to walk back to the kitchen but I'm stopped by James.

"So, you're not going to explain why you almost killed me?"
"No." I reply
"Why?"
"I don't feel the need to explain to you why." I tell him, as I start to walk away
"Now, wait just a moment. I-"

Suddenly, two people jump through the windows in the living room. The sound of glass shattering comes from other places in the house, a sign that more people have broken in.

"You take the ones upstairs!" I yell to James "I'll take care of the bastards down here."

The man nods and runs off towards the other assailants. I turn back to the men in front of me. One of the men lunges at me with a knife. I lean away, grab his arm, and pull him towards me. I kick him in the crotch and give him an uppercut to his chin. He stumbles and falls to the ground. The second man tries to sidekick me. I block it and kick him in his shin. As he begins to fall to the ground, I knee him in the chin, a loud crack following as his head shoots back. I grab his shoulder and punch him in the gut several times before turning him around and snapping his neck. Making sure not to make the same mistake I made at the bar, I ducked and rolled away from the position I was in, avoiding the first man who was surely going to try and choke me from behind. I get my knife out as the man runs towards me. I charge towards him. He raises his arm, getting ready to deliver a powerful punch but I duck out of the way and swing onto his back, jamming my knife into his skull. As the limp body falls to the ground, I roll off of it. Standing and breathing heavily, I start to walk towards the stairs, intending to go assist James when suddenly I feel a bullet fly past my face. My body stiffens. I slowly turn around to see the face of the person who'll inevitably meet their end tonight but I'm unable to see any facial features. For the man standing across the room from me is wearing a mask the covers their entire face. That's not the only notable thing about him, though. He also happens to have a metal arm… with a red star on his shoulder.

"Солдат." I say, using my native language and natural accent "Я предполагаю, что это был всего лишь предупредительный выстрел?"
{Translation: Soldier. I presume that was just a warning shot?}

He says nothing. Typical.

"Так, я полагаю, что Гидра сделала со мной? Я потеряла благосклонность к ним?" I ask
{Translation: So, I take it Hydra's done with me? I've lost favor with them?}
"У них больше нет пользы для общего убийцы." He replies, finally speaking.
{Translation: They have no use for a common assassin anymore.}
"И это не то, что вы?" I take a few steps towards him "Вы не маленький кукольный убийца Hydra?"
{Translation: And is that not what you are? Are you not Hydra's little puppet assassin?}
He stays silent for a few moments before speaking "Если кто-то кукольный убийца это, или, вернее, был, вы."
{Translation: If anyone's a puppet assassin it is, or rather was, you.}
"Туш, солдат." I reply "По крайней мере, мне платят за мою "общий убийца " работы. Не положить в хранилище, как вы."
{Translation: Touche, soldier. At least I get paid for my "common assassin" work. Not put in storage like you."}

The Winter Soldier says nothing in return. Instead, he takes the ammo out of his rifle and throws it outside behind him. He then flips out his knife. A dark chuckle escapes from my lips.

"Это должно быть весело." I say with a smirk
{Translation: This should be fun.}

I charge towards him with my knife, as he just walks at a quick pace towards me. Once we get close enough though we both go hard at each other. Knives slashing, fists flying. Although we've both received different training, we are both fairly equal in skill. It is almost an honor to fight him. He manages to get in some hits and kicks, though. I'll definitely be incredibly bruised in the morning and with his impeccable knife skills I know I'm going to have a few wounds from that after this the fight. That being said, he will not walk away from this fight without scratch either. His legs are definitely a weak spot so I make sure to kick and slash at them a few times, though not enough to make it a pattern. The Winter Soldier is smart. Unpredictable. I have to be the same way when going up against him. The fight continues for several minutes, neither of us seem to get the upper hand for long and neither one of us seem to tire. It was hard to tell who might come out on top. I decide to try out something new I had been working on but had yet to try it out on another poor soul. It starts off like one of my usual moves. I duck an oncoming punch from him and then deliver an uppercut to his chin but then I turn around and wrapped an arm around the back of his neck, delivering a few elbow hits to his stomach with my free arm before using both to toss him in front of me. Breathing heavily, I watch as he struggles a bit as he begins to push himself up from the ground. I decide to take advantage of this moment by kicking his face. It won't do as much damage as it usually does since he's wearing a mask but it certainly will leave him with several bruises on his face, hopefully a broken nose too. I position myself and throw my leg at him, feeling confident I'll win this fight. All that confidence goes away in a snap when the Winter Soldier uses his metal arm to grab my foot, turning me around and pulling me to the ground in one, fluid motion. I hit the ground with a loud thud and groan. Hearing the sound of him cocking his gun, I quickly turn myself onto my back and kick the gun out of his hand. I jump to my feet, having to duck once again as the Winter Soldier throws more punches. This time I'm on the defensive. I do my best to block his attacks and try to get in a few hits myself but it isn't so easy anymore. I manage to kick him in the gut which makes him fall back against a wall. I grab my knife from the ground and jump at him, hoping to stab his head but his reflexes are quick and he moves out of the way in time, leaving me with my knife in the wall. I don't even get a chance to try to get my knife out as the Winter Soldier immediately grabs my body, runs across the room and slams me into the wall. My vision goes blurry for a minute and I feel a cold hand wrap around my neck. The Winter Soldier begins to choke me. As I struggle for breath, I try to pry his hand away or get in a punch or something. I attempt to kick him but he stabs my left thigh with his free hand. I cry out in pain as my vision gets blurrier. I struggle to think of a way out of this situation. I just keep clawing at his arm, trying to push it away but it's obviously futile… then something happens. I begin to feel something surging through my fingers. Something powerful. Something… cold. I blink several times in an attempt to clear my vision so I could see what's going on. Some of the blurriness goes away and I'm able to make out a blue film that is growing over the soldier's arm. I hear the sounds of metal creaking and suddenly an explosion occurs, forcing the Winter Soldier back and onto the ground. As I fall to the floor, wheezing and coughing as the air starts to fill my lungs once more, I look over at the Winter Soldier to see the Winter Soldier standing and... his robotic arm destroyed. Wires were hanging out from his artificial bicep that connected to his, now dangling, hand. His forearm was nowhere to be seen. I stared at him in shock and awe as he looked at what was left of his arm. After looking over his arm, he turned his head to look at me. Then, in about the blink of an eye, I saw him raise his knee and rotate his upper body and then…

Darkness.

I started up my bike as he drove away. Wondering where I would sleep or if I would at his place would be the problem. That was going to keep me up for a little bit. At least till my head hit the pillow at home. It was not much to look at but the grounds were massive. I did not have a neighbor for at least a mile. I paid dearly for that piece of land and it was a sanctuary for me. Thankfully my obsession was locked in the basement and no one but I had the key.

Genetics and I have had an on again off again relationship. In my youth it definitely hated me and was out to kill me, as much as a subject could try to kill an unwitting student. I was almost laughable how easy it was to acquire old technology and even new once you branched into the medical field. My stint as a genetic researcher helped and I stayed unnoticed by the professors and leaders in the field. I was out to get information not cure cancer. As noble a quest that is, that was not why I was there. Buying the equipment I tested my cells over and over to see if there was a way to leech out the poison in my system.

That was what was in a side room in my basement. Lab equipment. It looked like a scientist lived there and the room was not on the blueprints for the house. It looked like an old door to a root cellar but that was just the first door. It was five point biometrically coded to me so that I have to be alive to open the door. Courtesy of black market Stark material. I have connections. I ask they get. In turn I do not ask. I was getting really tired of the cloak and dagger bullshit. I spent most of my life running from people who abused me or the people who absorbed the people who abused me. I was ready to come out of the shadows and live my life.

I pulled up to the house only to see that apparently I was not as careful as I thought I was. Windows were broken in my front door was wide open and I could hear what sounded like fighting inside. I circled around back quietly. If no one had taken the rapier from the back hallway it was still there.

My back door was wide open and I could hear clearly that there was a pitched battle going on upstairs. Great. I moved quickly and quietly down the back hallway reaching for the rapier that...was not there. Well that's just my luck. Fine off come the gloves. It had been a while since I would had to use any of the martial arts that I knew but I practiced daily so I was pretty confident that I could hold my own.

As I shed my gloves and putting them in my jacket pocket which I also divest myself of placing it in the hallway. I hear and loud thud from the front of the house. I hope that's not my antique Louis XIV end table. I will be so pissed if it is.

I creep up to see Lenora being held up by some guy in a mask. She's clawing at his hand, arm anywhere because he's choking her. I wince as he stabs her in the thigh. Yeah that has to hurt I think as she cries out. And just as I ready myself to launch a flying kick at him I see something under Lenora's hand. His arm turns blue and there is an explosion. I manage to dodge most of the flying shrapnel but am missing my jacket as a few pieces come in contact with my arms that I threw over my face in reflex.

I pull the pieces out my healing factor making it almost instant that the wounds are not apparent anymore. Although it does not stop the pain. That freaking hurt. I look back over and watch as he turns and round houses Lenora in the head and she goes down hard. He bends down to grab her and I quickly take off my helmet and viciously aim for his head. The helmet clips him in the side of his head right on the ear.

I am moving from where I was when I threw the helmet within the space of a heartbeat. Something about him seems familiar. I will analyse it later. He shakes it off and looks down the hallway and sees me out the corner of his mask. He turns on me like a viper his left arm apparently robotic and that's what exploded. “And Jocelyn Victoria Beatrice Harmon, the missing Weapon X Project. Mister Sinister would love to see you he's been looking for you. He misses you. Has your picture and everything. Come quietly and I might even spare your friends. Well except her. She failed. She knows the price of failure.”

“Not till Hell freezes over. Then I might consider it. If you know who I am then you know that if I touch you or you touch me, you die. I will not be healing you so I believe I have the upper hand here. Leave and I will not kill you. Stay...and you put your life in my hands. I am done running.”

“I'll take my chances.” He lunges at me and I realise my mistake. He's pretty well covered except for the forehead and scalp.
