D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E: Kayla is a tough-looking girl, with an athletic body and well-developed musculature from her constant traveling and many endeavors. She has sometime tanned skin, and freckles which dot her body. She carries herself with grace: her head high, shoulders back, with a ladylike gait. She has a large variety scars and burns on her body. Her hands, particularly, are covered in light burn scarring, and her favorite and most noticeable scar in her collection is a huge jagged line that runs across her shoulder blades. Kayla is an attractive woman. She has a somewhat angular face, long and narrowing down to her chin. Her eyes are vaguely almond-shaped and are a greyish blue color like her brother. Her teeth are straight and white, but a few are artificial from her candy eating habits as child. Her hair, as well as her eyebrows, is a dark brown, and is quite long, coming down to the middle of her back when let down. She generally keeps her hair in a neat braid down her back or over her shoulder. As far as attire goes, Kayla is pretty easy. Her closet primarily comprises of leggings or jeans, sports bras, athletic material like Under Armor or Nike. She likes to wear a maroon jacket most of the time, claiming that the extra pockets give her extra storage and give her a little extra protection from the many things she's dealt with that try to hurt her. She always wears a pair of black combat boots. Most of her clothes are whites, blacks, and reds. She doesn’t wear any jewelry aside from two wedding rings- a simple gold band on her right hand and a silver diamond ring on her left. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S: Making the trip from being a child to being an adult is oftentimes marked by a series of milestones throughout one's life. Kayla has lacked many, and is somewhat emotionally stunted as a result. While far from not functioning in society, Kayla's lack of respect for the world and people around her makes her destructive and disrespectful. Kayla was raised well, initially. In 2009, Arnold and Elizabeth Foster were murdered on their way home one night by some remnant of work left undone in the past. And instead of simply pursuing vengeance in the name of his daughter and her husband, her uncle, Milo Crane took things a step further, and brought six-year-old Kyle and Kayla into his home after their grieving was over. He introduced them to the supernatural world, and made it clear to them that there was no going back now. Kayla's story itself is not about vengeance, though. Her story will be more about coming to terms with what she lost so long ago, and making sure that it doesn't happen again. Bettering herself both as a magic user and as a person as she grows.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

Kayla is a trouble making, loud, and easily distracted young woman. Since birth Kayla has had an affinity for sticking her nose where it doesn't belong.

Kayla is sarcastic and treats most things like a joke (whether appropriate or not) and maintains a fairly calm demeanor even in stressful situations, ranging to mildly annoyed as her worst most of the time. She's just not one to freak out. Kayla likes to hear herself talk, and if no one is around, she often takes to talking to herself. Kayla is a textbook extrovert and makes fast friends wherever she goes. She tries to keep to herself mostly on personal matters, but somewhat hypocritically she tends to ask about others due to the insatiable curiosity she was born with.

In short, Kayla is brash and leaves a wake wherever she goes. She causes trouble for herself and others with little regard for the long term effects her actions might have. As this setting progresses, Kayla will get a grip on the consequences of her actions and come to the realization that she has a responsibility to do what is right regardless of whether it is the easy or fun choice, and that she can still be responsible while still having high energy and enjoyment of what she does. Kayla will start this story close to a teenager or child, and she will end it as an adult.

Oleander was her Uncle Milo's pet Siberian husky, who is far older than one would believe. Oleander is by no means an ordinary dog, other than in his appearance. He possesses a human level of intelligence, and is extremely well trained- making him a force to be reckoned with when he joins them on much of her excursions into the supernatural world.

The two conduits she carries are the two wedding bands that once belonged to her late mother and father.

The only thing I'd be careful with is having too much established knowledge of the supernatural going into the RP. Ideally, the class will be learning together. Other than that, it's a good sheet and I'm happy to bring Kayla on board.

D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E: Marie has an average height of 5'4, a average weight of 121lbs, and an average face. Nothing about her particularly stands out among the number of teenagers attending Mather Memorial. While she owns nicer and more expensive clothes she typically opts for a pair of jeans matched with a t-shit or hoodie depending on the season. The most attention Marie draws to herself is the occasional deadpan comment in class; showing just enough backbone not to be made the butt of the more popular kid's jokes or pranks. To most people, Marie is little more than another piece of the school's backdrop, which, being the middle-semester transfer with a felon father, suits her fine. M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S: I want to play Marie as a character who hasn't been much more than a bystander in her own life. She's had wealth, but that came from her father with many strings attached, even her reputation at her former school was dictated by that which her brothers left behind from their time there. Then she suddenly finds herself in Crestwood Hollow with the chance for a fresh start that she has no idea what to do with. I want the discovery of her magic to be in tandem with her discovering the kind of person she really is, rather than whatever her family always dictated she be or do. Prior to coming into her magic, I want Marie to explore the Hollow as a sort of thrill-seeker. She feels something off with the town, and highly suspects that it is haunted, though she'd never admit to believing in the paranormal. Her main focus will be the school itself, being one of the oldest buildings in the town and having a tumultuous history behind it to boot.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

Marie has been living in Crestwood Hollow for just over half a year with her 28 year old brother. She hasn't put forth any effort to make new friends, and finds the entire town too eerie to feel 'settled in'. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, the Brunswick's were a wealthy Wall-Street-working family in New York. Right until the patriarch of the family was arrested for insider trading and stock-broker fraud in 2015. It took two years for his sentence to be finalized and for everyone to realize it was a bit more than a 'temporary setback'. Marie's stepmother was gone as soon as her father's money had run dry from lawyer's fees and court fines, which left her to live with her brother, David. Their move the Crestwood was his idea, and the first step in his plan to move away from the stocks towards real-estate development. Since moving, he has been trying to persuade the local government to build a 'vacation complex'- mostly a boardwalk along the beach, south of the harbor, to be lined with vacation condos, over-priced restaurants as well as a super-mall in the south-side.

Just finished reading through the OOC and this looks like it's going to be a really fun one! :) The ideas and lore are very, very compelling! I do have a few questions though regarding some of it, that I may or may not have looked over. If I did, I apologize!

1) I was just curious about Mather Memorial's student body. Is it like your average high school with the different cliques and whatnot? I feel like ever since 13 Reasons Why was released, there's been a broader spectrum of the different levels of bullying that exist in schools xD

2) To confirm, Hexenbruts are capable of having multiple conduits through conjoining rituals with their desired objects, yes? I know you briefly mentioned something regarding spell potency, and I was wondering if multiple conduits would limit the spell potency for some Hexenbruts. Or would different conduits suggest different potencies?

I think those are the only two questions I actually have :o

The answer to your first question is really on us to develop in the IC. I went with my character falling into the jock path but we can make the cliques and niches as broad or simplified as we want to make them.

As for the second question. You can definitely have multiple conduits but while some metals channel magic better than others it's more a degree of control and ease compared to potency. The power of a spell is related to the price paid, not the metal it's passed through.

I honestly think they might be fun and show how each character feels about those they meet. But that's me.
