What did you do before the Recluse incident?
My dad's been the one who raised me my whole life. Dunno where my mom went, and Dad doesn't like to talk about it. His business, I guess. He's not the worst parent, sure, but he's... strict. He's a cop, so that's a given. I admit, I've probably acted out a little more than I should have in response. Tried smoking, bought a motorcycle, got involved with some questionable types. Mostly I've gotten busted for being where I shouldn't be, construction sites, private property, that kind of thing. The usual. Ended up in my dad's lockup more than once. Ended up in the ER with a broken bone or two other times. Pretty sure I broke my old man's heart more than once, too. Not gonna lie, I've been reckless. But hey, maybe I'm finally turning it all around.

See, I've always been athletic. I suppose that's why I'm here, instead of doing a 10-20. See, I was good at track and field in high school, and I do the whole "urban exploration" thing in my free time, but I really got an interest in what the trainers were doing about junior or senior year. I'm no doctor, but I like learning about how the body works. How to take someone hurt, and make 'em better. So I'm taking classes at ESU; physical therapy, sports medicine, that sort of thing. I'm not 100% "upstanding," even now, but I'm toning it down for the sake of my old man and my grades. Gotta have a future sometime, right?

One thing I'm a little worried about where Dad's concerned is some... new developments. See, for the last two years, I've been seeing this guy. Yeah, guy. And I've been worried about how my Dad'll take it. I don't think he'll disown me or anything, but... you never know.

Of course, I've got worse things to worry about than coming out, after that attack...

What happened after the incident?
Well, obviously there's the "sticking to walls" bit. I'm stronger, and a lot fucking faster. But the really weird part is, I've got something else, too. See, I can make this dark matter... energy... stuff. Like, kinda looks like solid black hole stuff, yeah? Like solid shadows. I can make a lot with it- limbs, claws, my "webs", even parts of my costume. I basically just raided my riding gear, covered it in shadows, and made a mask out of darkness. It's awesome, right? Instant superhero, just add edge.

What are your goals for the future?
Well, aside from all of the new... Spider-bullshit, I'm still not giving up on my degree, whenever they open ESU back up. But I've got a lot more to worry about with the Spider-stuff. Don't get me wrong, these powers are awesome. But they're kinda freaky, too. It's harder to ignore things going on, too, when you have a way to stop it. But what's really grinding my gears is that... well, they found that thing, right? The bomb, or device, or whatever. That means someone planned this. They did this on purpose.

And I don't think I can rest easy until I find out who.

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
Fuckin' love New York. It's got its ups and downs, but there's nowhere quite like this place anywhere in the world.

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
I use my phone, play some video games, ride my bike around, whatever. I'm 20, what did you expect?

I've known Scott my whole life. Or near enough that it doesn't matter. We've always been friends, and hopefully always will be. At my craziest, he's the guy I can trust with anything.

Officer Michael Tanner/Complicated
My old man. Tough but... well, he's tough. Being a cop in New York will do that to you. He's not a bad person, he's never laid a hand on me, but... there's always been this gap in between me and him. And I dunno how to bridge it.

Hector Reyes/It's Serious
My boyfriend. Met him through the local urban exploration scene in my senior year. He's a journalism major. We haven't had a lot of time for each other since Recluse, given the circumstances. I hope he's doing okay...

Raymond Davis/Rivals?
I don’t know X-Ray too well. I tried running with the Skywalkers for a bit, but once they found out my dad was a cop, I was out on my ass. Ray was the only one who didn’t flat out hate me for what my dad did, but we were still pretty competitive with each other. Wonder what he’s doing now...

Strand/More than Myth
Strand's a vigilante you hear about sometimes. Most people don't think he's real, but I'm pretty sure he is. I mean, get this, the guy can supposedly run up walls. Remind you of anyone? I think he's connected to this Recluse thing. Not the perpetrator, but maybe they did to him what happened to all of us first. And if he knows more than I do, it'll pay to compare notes. I've gotta find him.

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
Well, that's a bit of a loaded question. I kind of went to a no-name school. Like, it literally had no name. PS 191, that was all it was ever called. Guess that's not important though, is it? Well, what can I say? My parents did their best. My dad works at a department store as a part-owner, and my mom was a CNA. They moved from Korea and who-knows-where-else before settling in this little apartment here in New York.
I uh, wasn't always happy with being... well, I didn't always feel like me growing up, but that's in the past now. But because of some steep medical expenses in the past, despite doing a decent bit of studying, it looked like college was out of the question. Good thing I ended up getting the Osborne Physical Promise Academic Grant. Even got to meet old man Norman and his son Harry

So, yeah... Imagine knowing when things are going to happen before they happen... usually when it involves getting hurt. Now imagine waking up one day to find you rolled in your sleep- up a wall. Now imagine like, feeling these... threads, or something, that pull to other people. Yeah, it's weird.

Do you believe in aliens?
I read about this once: Fermi Paradox. But basically, the galaxy's so big that even our oldest transmissions are no where near another star, so even if there were aliens, and even if they were intelligent, they'd have no way of knowing we exist. That's a little sad.

What are your goals for the future?
Well, scholarships don't qualify for themselves, so busting my back as usual. Aiming for physical therapy, or emotional counseling. I figure I can take one as a minor, and not kill myself too hard.

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
It's great. I mean, it's loud, it's crazy, but where else can a street artist, an Italian cook, and a little Chinese grandmother all share the same building? It's sort of like, the embodiment of America, in a way. Is that weird?

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
I mean, when I was younger, I was a total audio-rat. I had headphones on like, ninety percent of the time. It drove my mom nuts. My dad would bring offages from the store that were slightly broken, and I would try to fix them, but I had more a passion than a talent for it. Recently, it's more for homework and stuff; so I'm not sure if it's a lot less, or just as much.

What do you like?
Full of loaded questions today, huh. Okay, okay, I'm cooperating. Music, if that wasn't obvious from before. Also, big weakness for chilli-fries. They're absolute trash but I love them. But nothing beats a home-cooked meal; the fact that my mom makes a lot of Korean food has a lot to do with it. Uh, hanging with friends... but I do a lot of, let's say, nocturnal extracurricular activities.

What do you dislike?
This is gonna sound weird, but I don't drink milk much. I sort of avoid dairy altogether. Not a big fan of being like, alone alone, ya'know? Also, all this pressure about being in a relationship and having sex and stuff- I don't gel with it. Just let me chill guys, seriously.

Do you think true evil exists?
Wow, deep stuff today. I can't say I've given that serious thought. I think it's mostly people who made bad choices.

Marcus Tanner
Literally, this guy- I've known him since probably before we could both walk. Sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself. Which, in all likelihood, is possible. I don't know if I'd have gotten through those 'medical expenses' without him. There were times when like, no one was smiling, and then, there he was.

Susan Yi
That's my mom. She expects a lot out of me, but is probably more forgiving of me than I am of myself. Also, she makes some of the best food in the world, hands down. And she has a weird habit of being way too chill with having guests over, especially if they have dinner. With what's been going on, I feel like that's a good thing.

Dae-won "Devon" Yi
My dad is a hard worker to a fault. He expects me to do well, just as much as my mom does. But he's never not done what he had to for us, and he'd always be sure to make it home every night, even when it would cost him a promotion or something. Not that I ever think it did. You know what I mean. He took a bit to adjust to the... post medical scenario, but he was always on my side. And we would always talk about the new shipments of electronics coming into the store, so talking to him's not, like, hard? Still... I can't really tell him about the whole Recluse thing. He'd have an aneurysm.

I've seen him around once or twice. Can't say we've talked much. He's on some kind of athletic scholarship too. Only hope his heart's in it more than mine.

6'2", lean athletic build, medium length black hair, with scars covering most of his upper body along with a tattoo of a tiger covering almost all of his back.



What did you do before the Recluse incident?
Alexander was born of a one-night stand when his mother was a teenager and she died giving birth to him. Because of this he never found out who his father was and was raised by his grandparents. His uncle Frank ran a Muay Thai dojo since a couple of years before he was born and starting training their under him when he was only five. Unfortunately what he did not know was that Frank had a gambling addiction and ended up owing money to the local mob. So his life was relatively peaceful until Uncle Frank was no longer able to pay his debts. One night during the summer before Xander's senior year he was training late at his uncle's dojo some thugs in suits broke into Frank's office, but he was too focused on his training to notice until it was too late and he heard a gunshot. That night his uncle and sensei died in his arms. 

What happened after the incident?
Once Alexander knew what he could do he began to obsessively search for the people who were responsible for the death of his uncle. Because the cops let the case go cold Xander ended up completely ignoring the law when dealing with this.

I have lived in Chinatown my entire life and I generally like most parts of the city, but some areas he tries to avoid.

Beyond his phone, laptop, and the gear in his family's Chinese Restaurant he tends to prefer to do things manually.

Patricia and Jason Lee are my grandparents, they run a Chinese restaurant also they literally raised me, though my Uncle Frank also had a big hand in that...

Scott Yi is a casual classmate of mine that I don't really know much about other than the fact that both of us on here on a scholarship, him for science and me for martial arts

I saw X-Ray around a bit in high school, but did not really notice him, until he started to go to Lucky Star

Lindy and her dad are regulars at his family's restaurant so he knew her in passing, but never really met her until a couple of months ago at his first ever Cross-Martial Art Tournament and where he just barely won against Matty

Kim Agbayani is somebody I have honestly only met once when she and her mom ate at my family's restaurant, so while I was their waiter I don't really know her to be honest...

What happened after the incident?
I ended up ditching the Skywalkers, they wanna kill me now. They’ll get over it...eventually.
Actually started paying attention in school and did more art projects.
Oh yeah, and...I went to the doctor’s office for my check-up and my blood kept melting through equipment. That’s just the most recent of the weirdness though...

It’s its own world, like, there’s the earth, and then there’s NYC. The good, the bad, the ugly, the sexy, what’s now, and what’s up next. Maybe I’m just a little biased.

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
Depends on the day. I’m typically on my phone a lot. Whether listening to music, watching videos, gaming...So, a lot.

What do you like?
I’m kinda into art, be it urban or more traditional.
Music, be it more rhythmic or more substantial, whether I could listen to or make it.
Guess that leads into Dancing. Not the best at it, but I've got some moves.

[Wears a beaded necklace that his older brother made for him when he was in kindergarten. Is never seen without it.]

[The organic web-shooting glands on each hand are laced with traces of his acidic blood. This makes them burn to the touch and because of their nature the web disolves rather quickly. Use of the organic webbing makes his heart run doubletime to accomodate for the amount of blood lost. So, it isn't in his best interests to use them continually in drastic situations.]

What are your thoughts on these people?
Marcus Tanner: I remember homeboy from back with the Skywalkers. Saw dude around the city. Dude could move, almost as good as me, but a rat in the squad and did some digging; found out Marc's pops was five-0. Obvious dealbreaker, but I saw the kid locked up a couple times by his own pops. He alright, I can at least say that much.

Scott Yi: Don’t know much about him, but he seems like a chill dude.

Alexander Lee: Tony Jaa fanboy? He’s cool I guess. Saw him around in high school, but never really paid him any mind. Think his fam got a chinese food joint. That chicken and broccoli is A1.

Kim Agbayani: Kimi been a G, ever since she first moved here. There was just this vibe that I could really relate to. Don't let her age fool you, she no joke. I raised her, she raised me; when the chips are down, there's no one else I'd rather have in my corner.

Lindy Audrum: Lindy? Oh yeah, she cool too. Even though she little, she got dog in her bruh. But she ain't no bitch. Met her at the Murdock Boxing Gym in Hell's Kitchen. Shorty got hands and the heart to go with it.

"After I was born, my ass of a father decide to left me and mother alone and leave my mother devastated and heartbroken but like the badass she is, she didn't give up raising me and I become a badass like her. By the time I was seven years old, we moved to New York city after my mom got a promotion from her job. I was against at first but my mom say this will be good for us and with this promotion, we will get more money then back home, plus it will help me get new friends or something."

What did you do before the Recluse incident?

Life was much simpler when I was younger. It wasn’t a fairytale, just average at best but that had been enough for me. It was when my mother got sick that everything started to change for the worse. Hospital visit after hospital visit. My mom not able to work anymore and my father barely making it by. He started disappearing more, coming home either drunk as hell or in a fowl mood late into the evening but pretending everything was fine while in my mother’s presence. It was like I was forgotten, all on my own and trying to navigate the world. I found more often than not that I was locked out of my own home so I found myself wandering a park or going to the nearby ice skating rink to watch, trying to find something to keep me busy till I could go home. This went on for years until suddenly, everything changed....my father seemed happier, things started to seem normal again, I wasn’t alone anymore and I hoped that meant that mom was getting better. I was able to do more after school activities, not understanding at the time we shouldn’t be able to afford to do them. My mom’s hospital bills were being paid on time and while my father still stayed out a bit late, he seemed to be doing better. Everything would be as it was and the nightmare from before would be over. It didn’t end up being that way though.

One night, I found myself dragged from bed in the middle of the night by a stranger. I tried to fight, squirm to get away, cry out, call for help but it was all for nothing. Instead, I was slapped harshly with my attacker telling me to shut up as I was continuously pulled like a rag doll to the living room. The first view being my father strapped to a chair, blood everywhere, beaten and scared when his eyes met mine. I found no words now, fear and panic twisting in my gut as I was threatened with a cold knife pressed to my throat. I could barely hear, the blood rushing to fast in my ear as the attackers spoke to my father. He was to start paying  back the money he had borrowed, no more delays or trying to sneak on by. They left, leaving me to deal with the mess my father was. He forced me not to call the cops, saying all of our lives depended on keeping this all a secret. I found myself roped into and forced to steal, my father saying it was our only way. He explained they would be like Robin Hood, stealing for a good reason. It never felt right. I felt horrible. If I tried to stop though, I was met with violence and that wasn’t any better. It wasn’t even a month later that my mom passed away after her long struggle and I felt it was a punishment for what we were doing. It didn’t matter though, we weren’t allowed to stop. 

It wasn’t until my high school years that we finally had enough stolen items sold off to finish the debt. I hoped we could wash our hands of it and move forward. My father didn’t seem to think so. He fell back into old ways, drinking and stealing. He was sloppy and started to draw attention. The second he tried to rope me into that lifestyle again, I suddenly found myself couch hopping. I would stay with friends or crash with band mates so that I didn’t have to see him. Didn’t have to be a part of his screw ups while I tried to make a life for myself. I needed to get a scholarship if I wanted to do anything college wise and even if I didn’t make it then a criminal record would not be a good start. They had been really lucky so far. I was skilled at thievery and planning but it wasn’t the life I wanted for myself. It was no surprise to me when I found out my father had been arrested. Cops bothering me to see if I had any information and to see if I had been a part of it in any way. I was able to weasel out of it but it had been an annoying process. They kept a close eye on me after that.

After high school, I pretty much signed up for anything and everything job wise. I needed a place of my own or at least enough to help a room mate since couches would not be an option any longer. I would have started on a job sooner but with my...other activities, it had been impossible. I turned out getting work as an office assistant which isn’t really my style and I hate it but it pays very well. Honestly, if I could be a hero all the time then I would. The world is full of mystery and infinite possibilities so I believe there is a chance that aliens exists. I am not holding my breath on ever meeting one but I do believe it is possible so I won’t dismiss it.

What are your goals for the future?

I don’t know if I have any real goals. I mean, I eventually want to go to college so I can get somewhere but at the same time...I don’t really want to get rid of my unrealistic dreams. Sure, it is silly but I would love for my band to make it to the big times or to be an Olympic ice skater since I have the talent but those seem too far from my reach. It would be best to go to college and work somewhere mundane.  I mean, you can only be a hero now and then. Real life doesn’t stop so I’m not gonna put all my hopes into that but it is nice to help people. 

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?

It’s never boring, that is for sure. It is a little crowded and wild but I think that is a part of its charm. It gives you unexpected gifts and also complete frustration. You can find everything you need here. 

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?

Oh boy....do I have to answer this? I feel embarrassed to say I am glued to my phone a lot. I am forever texting or looking up some sort of information. I love music and it is often that my headphones are in to enjoy. I do videos, writing and more in my free time which require technology. I mean, I am not sure I could live without movies or video games either. I also have to use it for work so that kind of makes it impossible to cut down the amount of use.

Jiji - cat/furbaby
Jiji has saved my life from utter loneliness since the day we met. I had been out on the small apartment balcony reading when I fell asleep, only to awaken with a tiny ball of fur curled up on my lap. He looked more than a little worse for the wear with his eyes gunked up, flea infested, and each rib clearly visible. He was so tiny that I thought he would break if I touched him. I couldn’t bare myself to move so instead I looked up what it would take to look after the little guy or what I could do to help. I had planned to get him into shape and find him a good home but the moment he opened his eyes, looking at me with that soft mew and purring happily just to be near me....that is when I knew he had my heart. He has been my baby boy since then and I would do anything to make his life happy and easy. He is always there when I need him and I will never abandon him in his time of need.

What do you look like?

"I'm only five feet tall but just because I'm short doesn't mean I'm weak: I workout on a regular basis and my slim body is toned with muscle! My hair is bright red just like my mom's, and it goes well with our also shared blue eyes! In warm weather I prefer to wear tanktops and shorts of varying colors, and in the winter I prefer baggy clothes to keep warm while I drink hot cocoa. My preference for footwear is usually sneakers, or just going barefoot. Sometimes I wear boots during the winter."

"You see this necklace with the cross on it? It was a gift from my dad on my eighth birthday! I've worn it ever since! I've also got the occasional bandage on me from minor injuries in the ring, but don't sweat those; They add character!"

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
"I spent my life idolizing my mother and working towards being an amazing detective like her. I did my best to ace my studies and spent my free time entering into classes to learn to fight so I could defend myself. My parents always worried that those krav maga classes were too brutal for a girl my age but I showed up and worked through the hell my instructor put me through: I'm no expert, but I bet no girl in my school that's in my age group is even half as kick-ass as me. "

"Actually I don't think the guys are, either... My dad hasn't stopped being a worrywart about me getting violent outside of my classes ever since I slammed some stupid pervert into the pavement. Can't he just accept that was self-defense? Sometimes my parents fight about it, and it tends to leave those nights quiet and awkward. They leave me really pissed off."

What happened after the incident?
"I am... REALLY strong. I also seem to be able to do high jumps to reach airborne targets or to simply get places above me fast. I can also do longjumps that help me traverse the city faster than I could by any normal means.  ...I've been wondering if I can do one of those crater smashes from the air like some tv hero. That'd be badass."

"While I'm totally into Sci-Fi I have enough grasp on reality to not believe in aliens. But considering what happened to me, maybe I should open up my worldview."

"I planned to become a N.Y.C police officer to follow in my mother's footsteps. But with these recently obtained powers I'm starting to think I can do more than just patrol the streets in a uniform... Would it disappoint my mom if after how much I said I'd follow her, that I decided to not do it? Can I even tell her about what happened to me? My future isn't really certain."

"I wish it wasn't as hectic. My mother is always on a case because there's always something happening here; I wish she had more time at home like when I was younger. I've made good friends here, and I don't think I'll ever leave this place for good."

"I text with friends a lot, and like to binge TV shows sometimes. I read ebooks and watch videos on occasion.

What do you like?
"I... Love fighting. Don't tell my dad this, but I feel most alive in the middle of a brawl. I almost considered going the route of an MMA fighter or something! I like to jog and do workout sessions at the gym, and I'm fond of a good story, be it from a TV show, movie, or book. My favorite things to eat are omelettes for a meal and cashews for a snack. I'm also a dog person. I like thoughtful people, maybe those who are a little playful. I also respect people who can duke it out with me without it being one-sided."

"Crime in general makes me pretty angry: Because of criminals my mom gets worked to the bone and comes home always tired and stressed, despite trying to put on a strong smile for me. I don't like when a plan falls apart, especially if it's because of someone in my group. I wouldn't usually admit it, but... I'm also a bit prideful. I don't like losing a fight."

"What do I look like? Well uh... I have teal hair and... I think I'm quite tall, not like super tall, but still. Maybe around 5'9"? People can never figure out the color of my eyes and to be honest neither can I. Depends on the lighting really, but mostly they look kinda grayish hazel..? It's an ongoing debate, trust me."

"I have a few piercings. And if you're wondering about the little scar I have here on my cheekbone, I really wish I could say it's a hardcore battlescar. But no, I got it before all of this spidey stuff and well... Okay, I'm not going to tell you the story because it is extremely unimpressive. But basically I cut my face preeettty badly as a kid. The doctors said it would probably leave a faint scar... and it did."

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
"My parents raised me in California, where we had a house for ourselves. They tell me I've always been really interested in sea life, ever since I was little. That's how I remember most of my childhood, really. I'm an only child, so I've always been pretty used to playing alone. Doesn't mean it didn't suck, though. I had many hobbies - I started diving rather young, and I've even learned how to surf. Dad would always say I learned to dive before I learned to swim, and that kind of sums me up as a person, really.

We were happy. I think. Now, looking back, I can see it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. Mum and dad fought a lot, I was alone a lot. They both loved me dearly, but as the years went on, their fights grew bigger and interactions more bitter. It wasn't a great environment to grow up in, and while I'm glad they finally divorced a six months ago, I wish they would've done it years sooner. I didn't have many friends growing up. I think people found me annoying, talking too much. I could never blame them for feeling that way - I can get lost in my own excitement when I'm passionate about something. Only in the recent years I've started making more friendly acquaintances and even friends, and honestly that has been the best part of moving from California to New York.

After divorcing my mum moved back to California. Dad lives in New York like I do, albeit on the other side of the city. I was always more of my father's girl anyway. Living on campus has been truly new and exciting, and a nice change of pace from high school.

Yeah, that's everything. Everything interesting anyway. I don't... Yeah, there are things I'd rather leave untouched, if that's fine."

What happened after the incident?
"I thought I'd fallen sick, like deadly ill. I couldn't stop being hyper aware of everything around me and sweating buckets. Later I realised I wasn't dying, but changing. When I would start sticking to all surfaces like my fingers had been superglued, I realised there was definitely something wrong with me. Or at least different. I called my dad the other day to make sure he was okay. He said he was, but now it's been a few days of radio silence. I'm starting to get worried - it's not like him to miss calls."

"Who doesn't? No but really, have you ever seen an octopus? Or any deep sea creatures for that matter? If you think aliens are too far-fetched, just wait 'till you hear about chimaeras and barreleyes..."

What are your goals for the future?
"I'm interested in marine biology. I'm currently studying it at the uni, actually. I want to help the oceans recover, to prevent the coral reefs from dying, to study underwater life as a career. Those are all high and mighty goals, and I don't think I'll ever be the one to single-handedly solve anything. Still, science is always making new breakthroughs so I might as well try and help where I can."

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
"It's weird living in the opposite side of the country, but I think I'm adapting pretty well. California was nice with all the heat and vicinity to some great beaches, but I'm really loving the fact that we have four seasons here in NY. There aren't as many good scuba diving places here, so that's probably my biggest peeve..."

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
"A... decent amount, for sure. How can one not in today's day and age? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally a phone addict, not one of those naggers with the baby boomer mindset of 'technology bad, internet evil'. I'm just saying that even if I didn't want to use my days face glued to the screen, how could I? It's pretty much the basis for modern society, and that's neat!"

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I had a small family. Too small. Just me and my mom- that asshole couldn't have died sooner. She just moved into the country recently- probably illegally. Ain't that wait time like 20 fuckin' years or somethin'? She was not...not nice to me. I don't want your fuckin' pity. Being on my own was good for me, I ran away before she killed herself with her bad habits. So, what, I had to make do. Never did have a job or an education growin' up, I did what I had to do. You'd be surprised how much work is out there for a quick little girl like me. I always was a good thief. I did that for a few years. Got beat up a few times- so what? I beat up a few people myself. Ran into some twerp. Little kid named Alejandra- all alone like me. Stupid little shitbag ain't nearly as good as it I am. Dunno why I stuck out my neck for her- but me and her run together now, I guess. That was a couple years ago.

Alejandra's smart. Too smart. Too smart to be out here all by herself like me- but whatever. Neither of us are changin'. Rather die than end up in the fuckin' system- both of us can tell you that. She's like 18 now or somethin'. She watches my back and I watch hers. She usually set up the plans, and I executed them. Me an' her made bank compared to when we were by ourselves. Lots of money in grand theft auto- I don't have a liscence but I'm a great driver. Alejandra taught me how to break in and hotwire 'em, though. I thought I was done for. I'd never felt so shitty- I was going for an easy mark at Empire State University when that shit happened. Alejndra was freaking out- specially when I fell asleep for so long. She was considering taking me to the hospital- but not only would that use up all our savings helping me, I'd also be arrested and it'd all be over. But when I woke up, I felt great. Stronger. Faster- way faster than I ever had been before. Way sharper. I could even stick to fucking walls and run on 'em like they were floors. Even through my shoes or gloves. God damn! I have fucking superpowers. Like in the comics AJ reads. I still can't believe it. This was an opportunity, AJ and I both knew it. She was smart, but equipment was scarce. But with my new superpowers, anything was possible. Our crimes started to go up in reward BIG TIME. 

We weren't the only ones, either. All sorts of freaks like me were walkin' around town- and some of 'em had some nasty shit. Webs, though. We don't gotta lot, but AJ actual reverse engineered that shit and made me my own god damn web shooters- I couldn't fucking believe it. She should be in college. But apparently I'm her older sister now or something, and she's sticking by my side and I'm grateful for it. Our spree is just getting started, motherfucker. New York has no idea what's about to hit it.

Nobody knows this- not even Clara. I told her my parents are dead, but in reality they're still alive. Super rich, too. Thing is, I'm never going back. Never. No one would understand why if I told them. Why would I rather live on the streets with some random girl? Why would I ever do that? 'Cause they're assholes, thats why. They don't understand me at all, I don't even know if they understand human emotion. I was always a smart kid, and for some reason that meant they had the right to take my life away. Nothing I did was ever good enough for them. If my dad ever told me he loved me, I don't remember it. All my childhood was spent indoors, studying. Looking at books, all god damn day. Then they get to retire as soulless sociopaths who's never made a meaningful connection in their life. Being a doctor, or a lawyer, getting a spouse, having two kids, retire, die. A cog in the machine. No thanks. I wanted to live, really live. So I ran away. Never felt so free in my life. I was already forced to learn everything I needed too, anyway. To be honest, it was a bad idea. But I saw it as my only option. 

I became a thief. I was on the streets for six months when I ran into Clara. I had gotten caught pick pocketing and these assholes were probably going to beat the shit out of me for fun. I probably deserved it- I was a really bad thief. I was all dirty, poor. If I went anywhere for help they would just drag me back to my parents. They don't live in Manhattan, but I figured it was the perfect city to get lost in and make a path for myself. Clara saved me, point blank. Not only from those guys by stabbing them in the kidneys with a pocket knife, but she really saved my life. If I hadn't met her I'd probably already be dead. One way or another.

Turns out she and I make a good team. A really good team. She's my best friend. Like an older sister. She taught me a lot, and I tried to teach her some things but she says its not really her area of expertise. First person I ever met to see me as who I really was, and not as some kinda pet project or investment. For two years she and I worked the streets together, and we're building a life. She and I already had big ambitions. But that was before the Recluse Incident. That was what really changed our lives.

What happened after the incident?
Clara got superpowers. Just like in the comic books I read. Neither of us could believe it, but neither of us could deny that she could stand on the ceiling and catch a ball thrown at the back of her head without looking. After that, she started raking in the cash big time. I knew I was smart, but I had forgotten how smart I actually was. I don't mean to brag, but I'm basically a technological goddess. I'm joking, of course, but engineering 101 paid off. I mean I already knew everything they had to teach me, but that's besides the point. I'm pretty sure I started developing some world changing technology. Either way, I kept it to myself and it made Clara a force to be reckoned with on the streets. We're going to make money. BIG TIME.

No. 

What are your goals for the future?
After making a boatload of money? I'm not sure. Maybe Clara and I could start making the world a better place, or something. Where kids can be kids and everyone isn't so damn selfish. I know that's ironic coming from someone like me, but I did what I had too to survive. Doesn't mean everyone else has too. One thing I'm never going to do is become apart of the establishment. Society isn't going to break me. I'm not going to be some kind of philanthropist who came from nothing. I'm not going to be in some god damn magazine, person of the year nobel peace prize bullshit. I'm going to make real change. Change people aren't going to like, because that's the only kind of change that matters.

Maybe. I don't know. I'll step off my soapbox and admit that right now, all I want is for Clara and I to be happy. Maybe get a boyfriend or something? If Clara doesn't scare them off.

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
It's great. I've only been here for two years but anyone can get lost inside. I fled to New York City one person, and I'm going to emerge from it a changed woman. 

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
A lot. I spend most of my day on it. But unlike most people, I'm actually productive.

What do you like?
Clara Cabello, of course. Making money. Tech. Football is fun if I ever get the chance to play it. Ironically I probably spend more time researching and reading now then I did back in college, but the difference here is now I'm doing it for something, someone, I care about. Actually useful stuff that I'm going to use to forge my own destiny. Again, soapbox, sorry. Other than that, I like TV, video games, you know the usual stuff. Once we get financially secure I'm probably going to look a little more into hobbies than I am right now. Pizza is great, too. Bugs and animals are cool, too, particularly spiders.

What do you dislike?
Cops. Feeling trapped. I mean, just society in general is really screwed up right now, you know? I also don't like stupid people. Not like Clara. I mean, she's stupid, but she's like, really smart in other ways. Like my mom is really smart, but she's stupid in every other way that matters. Most people are dumb like that. I don't like people that don't...get it. I also don't like people that look down on me. I also hate hot dogs, they're disgusting.

Do you think true evil exists?
Nah. But that doesn't mean people can't be soulless assholes, or deserve to die. But evil? Morality is subjective, I believe. But it still matters. I choose to believe that I am correct.

What do you look like?"

Perfectly parted, midnight brown hair and a soft, round jaw line frames a full and even face. Although her caramel skin is a shade darker than others and her bright, steel gray eyes are rarity, her ethnicity is difficult to place. Traces of African, Indian, and others blend together in a way that sometimes provokes a curious second glance. More striking than cute, a hint of soft curves barely conceal the physique of a natural-born athlete.

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
"What everyone else does at my age I guess... I was figuring shit out. Still am too."

Born to a restaurant owner from South Africa and an Administrative Assistant to the Indian Consulate, her life so far has been a wild ride. Her father was an outspoken man, excellent chef, and obsessed with spices around the world. Even so, he always had time for her and many of her memories were spent working in her father's kitchen. Many of the cooks and managers were so much like family that they attended her highschool graduation. While her friends and the kitchen staff understand the situation, her relationship with her mother is tenuous at best, her father describes it more as a "cold war". Working for the consulate means Nalini's mother rarely comes home to visit, a fact which has strained their relationship to the breaking point. Despite the cold distance between the two and years of simmering resentment, she admires her mother as self-made woman, just not much as a parent. 

Freshman year of University wasn't all it cracked up to be. Not one to mince words, she freely speaks her mind. Her friends have always been few, and despite enthusiastic promises to stay in touch, many of her old highschool crew slowly started to drift away into their own lives. None of the people she knew and actually liked made it to ESU, neither were they pursuing a math degree. Her classmates were a dull lot. The people she found most interesting she didn't get along with at all, and the friendliest ones were the most boring.

Her feelings of isolation were beginning to peak when the chemical attack happened, and her life hasn't been the same ever since.

What happened after the incident?
"I put arsenic in my pad thai today. It was another one of those weird cravings. I was really surprised. The nutty flavor of it blended well with the peanut sauce and the noodles.

It worries me still, but it's better than starving. I already tried that, and my stomach still ties itself in knots when I think about it too much.

I'm still pissed about the coffee though! The last time I got an expresso, I was tripping over myself like an alcoholic, and I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and a worse hangover. I couldn't even make it to school.

I can eat rat poison and be fine, but I can't drink the one thing I love the most?

"Okay, now I'm worried.
I've felt like garbage for the last few weeks. It started with a fever, but more recently it felt like there was an elephant standing on my chest. With all the stress, my roommate thought I might have pneumonia.

She took me to the ER, and the nurses put me in front of the xray machine. I don't know what's going on, but I could feel it. Right when I entered the room, before they ever turned it on, I could feel it on my skin somehow.

When the radiologist finally turned it on, I felt a sudden rush. It was warm, like sitting under the sun, except I could hear my heart pounding and the entire room brightened. Colors popped out at me in 3D. It was surreal.

It only lasted for a few seconds, but it felt amazing. Apparently, it also cured my pneumonia. All the ER nurses were shocked. I had to escape or they would've asked a lot more questions I don't have answers to.

Nalini's mutations, while not immediately visible, are well beyond the extreme.

Her already dark skin instantly darkens further in the presence of harmful radiation. More to the point, it heals her and makes her stronger, faster, her senses sharper. Most toxic things do. From rat poison to a mouthful of carbon monoxide to clinical radiation, she absorbs toxins and experiences a temporary boost in power while in their presence. The more of it there is the stronger the effect. 

This also causes her to get bizarre cravings for things most people would consider inedible, or in some cases outright lethal.

Unsurprisingly, her new powers has had other side effects. Her body is poisonous to most animals, and typically fatal. The last time a mosquito bit her, it died within seconds. Her pet dog, Momo, who eagerly tries to lick people in the face, was paralyzed for over an hour after licking the drool off Nalini's sleeping face. 

Healing Factor
Nalini doesn't heal from injuries faster than the average human, and can catch a cold the same as anyone else. However, a heavy dose of poison can trigger her typically dormant healing factor. Her poison-eating ability fuels it.

Spider-Sense
Although Nalini's senses have been enhanced, she doesn't possess a 'danger sense'. She can however see UV light, which makes walking down the street at night more like taking a VR adventure through the world of Pandora from Avatar. Even in the dark, she can see a vivid technicolor landscape, bright and fascinating against a backdrop of dull blue tones.

Additionally, she can sense nearby toxins and radiation, which are typically accompanied by some kind of unique scent, or taste.

Do you believe in aliens?
"I guess it depends on your definition. We already know extremophile bacteria can survive in space almost indefinitely, and there's strong evidence to suggest they do exist all over the place. If you were to ask me "Do I believe in tiny green men", I would say yes, but only if they were microscopic and dine on space rock."

What are your goals for the future?
"I've always liked math. There's a subtle beauty in numbers, a rhythm and cycle to things everywhere, and it's an adventure to uncover them. If I'm being honest with myself, I don't really know what I want. I just know what like and I know who I am. Hopefully, that's good enough."

You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
"It's like an experiment in trying to fit the whole world into an Urban Wildlife Preservation, and it failed so miserably that it managed to work."

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
"Yes"

19. I'm kinda in that weird time where you're no longer a kid but not quite an adult yet.

What do you look like?


What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I'll do my best not to sound like a whiner or that I'm milking sympathy but I'd be lying if I said life has been easy for me and my Mom. You see, when I  was a kid, my Dad walked out the door on me  and her and we never saw or heard from him again. No phone calls, no birthday cards, not even a paycheck for child  care. Needless to say, I've never quite forgiven him.

Anyways, this forced my Mom to work some less-than-ideal jobs to make ends meet, not helped by the fact she herself  had grown up in a  rather dysfunctional family  so outside help was a bit limited. I did my part to help, like  working hard in school and learning to do certain menial tasks like cleaning and doing the dishes so she didn't have to do them the days she came home exhausted.

However, I'd be lying if I said I was some shining paragon as I did do some things I'm not entirely proud of. Like one time, a mugger tried to steal my mom's wallet and when he laid his hands on her...I snapped and broke his jaw with a few solid punches. The police said the only reason I wasn't doing juvie was cause the guy was a repeat offender and couldn't afford a lawyer.  

That said, word of these situations got out and...let's just say I didn't have too many friends growing up and leave it at that.

Around the time of my high-school graduation though things were finally looking up. By some miracle, my Mom got a job in New York and we moved there to start over. It was quite a change but I like to think I handled it well enough.

However, that's when the Recluse Incident happened...

What happened after the incident?
Well, I recall falling very sick and waking up in the hospital several days later. Surprisingly, I didn't feel sick anymore. If anything, I felt...fine. Better than fine actually. I felt...powerful. I quickly realized I had perfect vision too, among other...benefits.

Somehow, I had managed the impossible...and gained actual superpowers.

Bio-Feedback:  Alan has total control of his body and its functions, all the way down to the cellular level. Although he is only just starting to grasp how it works, it's clear it has a lot of untapped potential. He can control his metabolism his own heartbeat, purge poisons and toxins from his system, numb his pain receptors, boost his self-healing and even alter his appearance to a degree.

Do you believe in aliens?
I love Sci-fi and we do live in but one tiny corner of a seemingly infinite cosmos. As such, I think it's ignorant of us to think we're the only intelligent life-forms in existence.

What are your goals for the future?
I've always wanted to be a superhero so I'm finally getting the chance to live the dream. Gonna use my new powers to try and find who set up that bomb and why. That said, I do also want to find my father  and get some answers out of him...by force if I have to.
You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
I've only lived here a few months or so  but I gotta say it's pretty nice so far. It definitely could do with some "cleaning up" here and there but I can think of much worse places to live.

How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
A fair amount. I try not to take it to a crazy extent but I do sometimes find people are more reasonable and open-minded in the online world than those you find in the real world.

Alexander "Xander" Lee: Eaten at his grandparents chinese place a few times. It's good food and Xander seems like a decent guy. I wonder if I should ask him for a few self-defense lessons...

Lindy Audrum: Not gonna lie, that girl scares me sometimes. Seriously, she looks like she could make my head explode like a grape. That said, her frequent stops to pick up goodies has led me to realize she's a good person who appreciates tasty treats.

Just goes to show you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

What do you look like?
White, 5'11", brown spiked hair, green eyes, lean but muscled, male.

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
Morgan grew up in rural New York living with his grandfather. His parents lived in the city working as traders and due to them never having time to help their son he stayed on a farm helping his grandfather. He was ten when he learned he could take apart and rewire electronics which became his hobby. His grandfather noticed his talent and talked to his parents about getting him into a good school for technology in the city. To no avail they simply had no time for their son. 

Morgan grew bitter as he got older and it was when he was seventeen that his parents died due to a mysterious circumstances. They had been found in their apartment, meager though it looked, murdered. Both had been strangled to death and the place had been turned over as if someone was looking for something. From that point on grandpa made it a point to make sure Morgan knew how to defend himself and as well to get him into a good school. 

Grandpa loved his grandson and in the year after his parents died Morgan learned alot but also lost more. His grandpa died in his sleep the day after Morgan received the letter of acceptance into a great technology school. In grandpa's will Morgan was surprised to find that his schooling had been taken care of by a trust his grandfather had set up. He also had an apartment that was paid up for with a note... 

"My boy you have worked hard with me all your life with no more help than you ever needed. You have taken care of me and this farm for far to long. I leave everything to you to sell or make your own. The help can keep the farm running and the neighbors agreed to manage things while you're away at school. That is my one requirement that you attend and complete school. Make something of yourself boy. Be more than the hard lessons you had to learn from your parents." 

Morgan then attended school doing as his grandpa wished. Flash forward two years to the Recluse incident Morgan has his world turned upside down again...now the rest if the story unfolds in the following pages.

Powers: Morgan has organic webbing that can be used to absorb and discharge electrical energy. Morgan when holding energy has increased agility and with out normal super human levels. Further character development could develop further exploration of his abilities.

To become a developer of hardware and software as well as protect his place in life.
