So much happened so quickly, Ria wasn't entirely certain there was an order to it. Her brain felt like it was on lag from, well, everything. Asher's magic was warming, especially with the same warmth seeping in through the cloak on her back from his arms wrapping around her to help, and it certainly helped her start feeling warmer. Her brain just felt sluggish. Especially when Lavinia and Gwen approached. Only for - in rapid succession - Lavinia to kick Asher extremely hard in a very sensitive spot after shouting for him to die and calling him a freak, Cloven to say some really confusing things that hit something inside and confused her further, and her sister threatening two of their guild-mates while insinuating she didn't have the right to give permission for others to touch her as well as demanding an explanation...while disrobed.

Her eyes grew with each subsequent issue. Her mouth opened to respond to any of what happened as Asher crumbled to the ground and Lavinia stormed off and Cloven left his own way. All she managed to do was wide eye look from one guild mate to another with an increasing sense of panic at the unfolding situation. Her arms dropped to her sides, letting go of Marduk's cape. The cloth fluttered to the ground around her feet. All she'd wanted was to be able to warm up so she could be useful still. There were people around them. People that probably still needed help. There were buildings destroyed right outside the Magic Council's head quarters. There were still members of their own guild that were down.

An ache built in her chest and clouded up her head. But at least she didn't feel cold anymore. Not in the same sense as she did. She felt...numb?

Lips that almost never frowned cracked at the edges, the slightest down turn as she finally focused back on her sister. "Explain myself?" Her voice remained even, though not with her normal cheer. Just...even.

She flicked her hand out toward her sister while her other arm moved in a wide arcing gesture. Muddy water from the ground around them swirled up to wrap around Gwen's chest and waist as a makeshift tubetop and mini skirt respectively as other water swirled up to form a thin barrier around the trio (with poor Asher almost forgotten on the ground to recover from the hit) from the growing crowd. "There is nothing for me to explain. Asher was assisting me and Cloven was talking to me. Whereas you are threatening members of our guild, in front of a crowd of strangers, after Lavinia attacked one of them."

That ache in her chest built. She tried to ignore it like she always did, but it kept pushing back. That tiny frown was all she afforded to slip through her carefully built defenses. It made her head hurt. Why did Lavinia kick him anyways? She isn't impulsive enough to do something like that. Especially since she didn't even make some maniacal laugh or quip or...anything to help explain the sudden outburst. And what did - She stopped before she continued to ask that last question. The pang in her chest hurt more, and she could feel the temptation for water to build in her eyes. She closed her eyes and focused on breathing calm.

No, she wasn't going to cry. It was fine. She could fix the pain Lavinia had caused Asher. She would figure out why Lavinia was acting erratic and help her work it out. Gwen was just being protective; she'd been unconscious and woke to see someone she had only met when they were being sent on this mission hugging her sister. Then Cloven...Okay, why did he have to be so confusing? She needed to breathe and put on the good face. They were in a city the guild had saved from really being destroyed, surrounded by strangers that were looking for information. There were people still trapped in places; Rune Knights were already working to help, but that didn't mitigate the tension still in the air. There was no time in this moment for her to have issues when there were others that needed the help.

She just needed to breathe. Why did the air around them make it feel so hard to breathe?

What chill may have left Ria looking pale surely lifted. She looked her normal vibrant color, if not a bit more pink from head to toe from the thoughts racing through her head. It certainly wasn't from the warmth Asher had been helping her with before, but Just take a breath, count to ten, and release it. She heard her mother's voice in her head as a comfortable whisper, a memory of her early days of controlling her magic and getting frustrated she wasn't advancing as quickly as was expected. So she did just that, took a breath, counted to ten, and released it.

She opened her eyes and the frown left her face. "Gwen, please go check on Luke. We still have guild mates that need my help, and I haven't checked in with him since the fight stopped. Felix got hurt, really bad, and Luke went to check on Leon healing him. I'll come check in with both of you when I'm done helping the others that need it. Okay?"

Though Ria didn't give Gwen the chance to say if it was okay or not. She simply turned her attention to Asher as the barrier of water fell down around them. Crouching beside the injured mage, she put a hand on his shoulder and cupped her other hand next to his mouth. "Rejuvenating waters," she said as a ball of glowing water swirled into existence in her hand. "Here, drink this. It will help you recover from...Lavinia."

Astoria acted like a machinegun — giving no opportunity for Gwen to react.

Gwen was agitated by Ria's attitude towards her and how easily dismissed she was. Ironic, the Ice Mage can dismiss so much people in a blink of an eye yet fall short against her sassier sibling — who dismissed her. Out of Ria's presence she leave, Gwen held off whatever ill feelings she bare toward Ria.

She defrosted the muddy outfit that Ria branded her with, picked up her clothes and ran naked.

Immediately Gwen garnered the attention of more townsmen because of her stark birthday suit self, she roamed without clothes and plowed her way to Luke. I hope Luke is alright...

As she arrived (already wearing clothes) to the scene where her younger but older brother — Gwen sighed in relief for Luke was safe. She's about to make the same mistake by indiscriminately judging those that have ill intent against her siblings. Gwen remembered the sad miscommunication she had with Ria earlier.

The voices within her head were silent this time.

She caressed her brother's hair and face.

"I'm glad you're safe, Luke, and thank you, new member of Fenixtear. I dunno how could I ever repay you." Gwen showed genuine sincerity towards the man who healed her brother compared to her earlier encounter.

Luke

Luke ignored the crazy behavior his guild was showing off, for all his focus was on Felix. The boy was seriously injured. Thankfully, he'll make a full recovery and be back on hs feet with the same behavior as usual. Leon is a reliable guy.

Since there's nothing else to focus on, Luke started to zone out and blankly stare at Felix while not really looking at him. His mind was currently elsewhere; the face of that powerful mage stirred up something. Luke already forgot that feeling, but a small something was unchained just an infinitesimal amount. If anyone came up to ask him anything, he wouldn't be in a state to respond at all.

Whenever the amnesiac tries to recall anything past a year when he found himself stumbling on the street, he just comes up empty. Almost like there was nothing to remember. He remembered hearing wild theories from his guild mates, such as him being a robot. He brushed his hand over the wound he received. Unfortunately, head trauma didn't jog anything inside.

"I need some sleep," he muttered to himself. His eyes were starting to get heavy. I can at least wait until I find some place to sleep.

The feeling of a hand brushing through his hair and caressing his face pulled him out of his thoughts before he delved even deeper. It seemed it was one of the twins, Gwendolyn.

He slowly turned to her and spoke. "Ah, I'm glad you're safe as well." He then fixed her with an odd look and smiled strangely.

The familiar faces are nowhere around me. Would I call this feeling...melancholy?

Asher

Though Asher was still down on his knees, he could feel the tension when Astoria began to speak towards her sister. He was gracious that she was explaining what was happening, given the current circumstances as it were. His eyes gaze around him, noticing that the other guy she mentioned, Cloven, had wandered off at some point. A hand grabs onto his shoulder, returning his focus to the front as he finds Astoria crouching beside him. In her other hand, a glowing ball of water swirled as she held it up to his mouth, asking him to drink it. With a small nod of understanding, he does as she asks, leaning his head forward and slurping in the water.

It didn’t take long for him to feel the effects of the pure healing water start to work it’s magic. The sensations going through his body started to recede back to the source, his body relaxing bit by bit as it goes. When the healing finally made it to where it needed to be, Asher lets out a breath of relief as the pain fades and quickly disappears completely. “Thank you, Astoria,” he speaks up, as he lets his body fall back into a sitting position onto the ground. “You’re an angel…” he unconsciously adds, his mind basking in the feeling of relief too much to catch what he says.

Several seconds slip by like that, before he forces himself to focus back on what’s going on around him. He remembers hearing Astoria mention something to her sister about needing to help the others. His eyes shift back to her, speaking up once more. “You said you have others that need your help, right?” He motions over back where the others are. “I’ll be fine in a minute or two, so you should go help someone who needs it much more than I do, okay?”

It is odd to say that being washed over with fresh blood was soothing, but there was a gentleness in Lavina's magic that betrayed her supposed villainous nature. There was absolutely nothing that she can say that will convince him otherwise. The pain of the lacerations subsided, as if they simply were never there to begin with; there was not even a hint of a scar on any part of his body. "Bring it all down Lav, bring it all down." He smirked at his sarcastic encouragement in response to her evil declaration. Zenith was quite keenly aware that she was done healing him, but he figured that it was to keep Asher from trying to skew her for cracking his nuts.

To his surprise, Holly approached him through the crowds of inquisitive townsfolk. He thought that she was still working the crowd and yet, here she was, kneeling down and asking him how he is doing. Hell of a question to ask while there are many peering eyes focused on her and now him, almost uncomfortably so. Funny how they were trying to become more famous and yet here he was, feeling a bit self-conscious about having this much attention. Slowly he pushed himself up just enough so he was sitting up, if only to create the image that he was a strong mage in the public eye.

Was he okay? Physically, yes he was, but the storm brewing inside of his head was another story. Was he too hard on Felix? Was it his fault that the boy was injured the way he is because he was too harsh? And yet, Zenith only flashed one of his award winning smiles at Holly. He was a soldier, he couldn't show any weakness."I'm doing fine. I got to elbow drop a dragon so I can cross that off my bucket list" He said jokingly, chuckling as he pushed tussled hair away from his icy blue eyes that stared directly into hers.

"You were looking pretty cool striking a pose up on that dragon. You're definitely going to be on the front page tomorrow with the headline Unknown Mage Guild Slays Dragon." He motioned his hand in the air as if he was summoning that imaginary headline.

Lavinia

Fenixtear’s resident evil mastermind stiffened when Holly came near, trying not to look directly at her. She was still miffed about the S-class mage standing front and center for the press, when Lavinia had done at least as much work in slaying the dragon. She shields the citizenry from my villainous wiles… Curse youuuu, Holly Vertilaaaaa!!

Sadly, though, she had to restrain herself from kicking this particular antagonist between the legs. Not only was Holly a woman, she was also clad in armor, and any attempt at a surprise attack would only result in Lavinia breaking her foot.

Besides, the guild’s probably already angry at me for what I did to Asher. She didn’t exactly feel bad for that violent act; back in Vampire Mirror it had been common to see guildmates attacking one another at the slightest provocation. It was a natural thing for a villain to do, a healthy expression of one’s internal darkness and savagery.

So she didn’t feel bad about it. Just… somewhat uneasy? Maybe her stomach was acting up, or maybe the drain on her magical energy was taking a toll, or maybe she was just feeling disgust at having brought her foot so close to that unpleasant part of male anatomy. There had to be something that explained her current state, the complete lack of glee and satisfaction at the harm she had wrought.

Anyhow, she didn’t move against Holly, though she did arch an eyebrow as she sensed something beneath the mage’s armor. Did her heartbeat just speed up a little? And that’s an unusual amount of blood in her cheeks. Perhaps she was injured, but there didn’t seem to be anything else wrong with her. A true mystery…

Rather than bring it up, however, she poked Zenith in the shoulder with one finger. ”Hey, I’ll be on the front page too, right? After all, I’m the one who struck the final blow. There’s no way they could have missed me!” Yes, she could picture it now, a big sub-heading beneath the headline. 'THE BEAST WAS PUT DOWN BY A POWERFUL BLOOD MAGE, WHOSE PRESENCE WAS SO TERRIFYING THAT ALL OUR REPORTERS SPONTANEOUSLY PEED THEIR PANTS.' Soon, all of Fiore would know and fear her name!

Leon was starting to feel spent. He always underestimated how draining healing magic could be when overused. Not to mention he wasn’t exactly known for his efficiency when casting spells - oftentimes blowing large amounts of his power unnecessarily. Thankfully it didn’t matter today, because they were safe and Felix was no longer in a critical state. Leon couldn’t help but feel a little proud at how well he’d managed to patch him up - it was his first time mending such a damaged body. So when Luke approached to check in on Felix, the healer was more than happy to offer back his own gleeful smile and thumbs up.

He’s going to be okay. Right now he just needs to rest.” Leon smirked, extending his fist to playfully nudge Luke in the shoulder.
You’re awesome man. Really smacked that beast around.” Not many people could dropkick a dragon in the face and live to tell the tale. Truly, he was surrounded by some pretty spectacular mages. One day, he hoped to join their league.

The familiar fluttering of wings from behind made Leon jump to his feet, spinning around to be face to face with his little pixie. Lorelai had returned from aiding Lilianna, crashing into her conjurer’s chest with an excited squeal. He returned the embrace with a gentle pat with his index finger.
You were great Lor. Go and rest now.” The fae nodded, dispersing into thin air with a puff of residual pixie dust. Leon hadn’t noticed Liliana until she called to him, thanking him for his efforts.

Leon could feel a warmth spread across his cheeks, his eyes welling up with joyful tears. Before he could start bawling, he quickly rubbed his sleeve across his eyes and tried to laugh it off. Standing tall, a childish grin plastered across his face, he tapped his Codex and spoke with pride.
Lorelai is really something special, isn’t she?” He was beaming. He had contributed so little, but his guildmates still valued what he could do. They had no idea how validating that was.
I’m just glad you’re alright.” It was the truth. Whilst Lilianna still looked a little run down, seemingly less affected by Leon’s healing than he’d hoped, she still looked pretty good for someone who took a dragon’s tail head on.

Leon paused for a moment when he remembered watching the tail swipe wipe her out across the streets of Era. He had been able to mitigate a good amount of the hurt on himself when the tail crashed into him. If he had been faster, more vigilant, better, then he could have done the same for Lilianna. Yet despite that realization, he was feeling too good about himself to let it bring him down. So instead, he pointed to the dragon slayer with confidence.

Next time, I’ll make sure you don’t need healing in the first place.

Gwen joined their group, checking in on Luke like the protective big sister Leon had heard much about from Ria. She turned to him and thanked the young mage for keeping her friends healthy.
"It's my pleasure, ma'am." Leon rubbed the back of his head. The praise was starting to become awkward. He wasn't used to it. It was very flattering though. Before anything else could be said, a reporter stopped by and asked the group to smile for a photo. Leon complied, though he admittedly looked quite awkward. Once they had left, he looked down at Felix’s still unconscious form and decided it would be better to bring him to the rest of the ground. Crouching down, he heaved the young boy up over his shoulder and fastened his prosthetic arm around his waist to keep him from moving around too much.

I’m going to go join the others.” Leon began, taking a brief glimpse at the chaos his guildmates were instigating.
I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. He mused, concerned that he would be caught up in the tomfoolery by association. He supposed there wasn’t much point standing around anymore though. It was with that resolve he began to approach the others, thinking it was time to get Felix back home to the guild for some rest.

Holly thought that she saw a few little flickers of light from a few individuals within the crowd taking picture of the armoured mage crouching down beside her guildmates. Of course, they were going to take all the eye candy they could get to shove into their newspapers and headlines, but Holly did not mind. So long as they didn't follow her home like puppies and try to knock on her door, everything was going to be fine. Unfortunately, she knew that reporters went to some mysterious lengths to catch a fish, and the appearance of her unarmoured self was definitely a big fish. She tried to shove that out of her mind, though.

Instead, Holly focused on Zenith. She felt her cheeks heat up a little as Zenith gave her a smile, and the way he just pushed his hair away from his eyes like that made her heart skip a little beat. She failed to hold back just a little giggle at his interpretation of what the headlines were going to be, and then quickly fought to control herself. She didn't want to be the giggly girl that she wasn't, she could do that when she was home, and when she was alone, if at all. "Well," she starts, "I'd be honoured for them to put me as the big picture on the headline. They might even put one of the ones they're taking now of us in the actual article." She tried to ignore his eyes staring into her's, and thankfully Lavinia gave her an opportunity to do so.

Holly tilted her head over to face Lavinia, and with a little laugh, Holly nodded her head. "Yes Lavinia, I'm certain you'll be on the front page, too," she says just to please she who was truly the most evil of them all. Holly knew that the big picture would be of herself, though who was on the page itself didn't matter (much) to Holly, nor who struck the final blow. She knew the entire Guild had put in work to eliminate the dragon, even if Lavinia had struck the final blow.

Cloven Brevis

@TheHangedMan

Cloven never wasted time if he could help it. A mission hadn’t been pushed on him but one had fallen into his lap. Self-given and just as important, he believed. Earlier, he might have been looking down on everyone with a second-degree, emotional burn. That had taken some time to process. But now he had a goal. Even amidst the unnatural bedlam that ruled around his fortress of numbness. A storm that Ria, Asher, and his deluded actions had kicked off.

He would need to be on the old guy’s good-side, if that even existed. Marduk was tempered by age, had learned a great deal of life’s fundamentals. It showed in the way he handled everyone, no outrage or overzealous pity from him. It was a balanced hand, a slight dial to the left or right.

So despite if Marduk was looking or not, long as he stayed far away from the plant-wizard, Cloven had went to work on helping some of the Rune Knights and citizens put together their mess. It was a hard pill to swallow, Cloven’s words, often just cold reprimands, ‘Be stronger next time.’, ‘Your eyes are dopish, probably why you didn’t see it coming.', or ‘Even if you don’t fight, your life is always on the line. Better to run and run fast if you're weak.'

Most of them took his words like a punch to the gut but his help was needed; he was far stronger than the average mage, so the normals really didn’t want to insult him. Cloven lifted a large boulder, thick and ruptured from the cobblestone some twenty-feet away, he presumed. Beads of sweat started to dot his forehead. In the shadow beneath the boulder, that he held with both hands and bent knees, crawled listless people, picking and pulling their lives back together.

“You got ten-minutes,” he strained between breaths. “Ten minutes... before I drop this thing.” His voice finished louder and stronger. A flash and tell-tale snap of a camera reached his ears. He pushed that thought aside, he was sure his back had just been the center of a photo. Good, a picture says a thousand words.

Ria spared a glance toward Gwen as her sister ran. That painful ache in her chest reared its head again when she did. She'd make it up to her. Things would be okay between them again. Right now, it would just hurt, but she could manage. She always managed. Which was why she turned her attention fully to Asher when the older mage drank the water.

A cheerful smile blossomed on her face as she watched the healing waters take affect. It was slow, and she couldn't actually see the healing process, but she saw it in how he relaxed. A soft chiming laugh escapes her at his comment. "Thanks, but I think I'm a bit more mortal than that."

Her gaze turned to the others around them. The people approaching now that the water was gone and her sister had fled. She didn't lose her smile. Simply standing and moving to be the shield between Asher as he regained his composure and the crowd, but kept her back to the crowd for now. It looked like everything was going well. People were being helped, most of the injuries had been dealt with. It hadn't looked like Leon got around to healing Luke but at least it looked like Felix was going to be okay, and Lavinia healed Zenith just fine. Lilliana looked okay. Marduk looked well in control. Cloven was showing off. Gwen...she'd put off that longer. Holly might need some more help; she had run back into the fray. Gras -

Asher drew her attention again with his offer. Her smile grew a bit more cheerful with a soft laugh. "Yeah, I need to at least check on Holly and maybe heal up Luke. Other than that, it's just the townspeople, and there are good hospitals and other healers in this city."

With that, Ria turned to go over to check on Holly. Only for a group of people to swarm her. It seemed some of them had talked to her sister before with some of the questions. True to her nature, she put on a smile and gave pretty simple answers. Yes, the nudist was her sister, no she wasn't ashamed of that. Yes, it was awkward sometimes, no she wasn't going to try to convince her sister to change her nature.

Then there were the other questions. Like about what happened between the two guildmates - one attacking the other. If she was dating the half-naked guy. Or if she was dating anyone. These threw her off but she still managed to answer with a smile and her usual cheerful tone. It was a misunderstanding, no she wasn't dating anyone. And having to add in a polite rejection to someone that asked if he could take her for dinner in thanks for helping protect the city. "All I did was keep the dragon from razing the city in fire. The others deserve the real thanks. Perhaps one of them would accept the offer?" Though she wasn't entirely sure why the guy blushed when a few others laughed and nudged him; maybe it was a joke she hadn't caught on to?

"If you'll excuse us, as much as we love the attention, it was a difficult fight. As others have said, we would all appreciate a bit of space to properly recuperate after the fight. If you are interested in contacting any of us, our guild is located in Crocus. Outside of that, distance is appreciated. Thank you." Ria offered a slight wave and more cheerful smile as a parting before continuing on her way to Holly and the others.

The skip was even back in her step by the time she stopped next to Lavinia. "How is everyone here doing? Holly, are you still okay after I healed you in the fight? I was focused on the fires after you jumped back in. Just want to check in on my way around." Okay, so maybe it was a stall tactic to give her and Gwen some more time apart before she went over to heal up Luke. It was also partially a distraction from the fact Lavinia was right there. Yes, Lavinia was right there and could heal Holly if she wanted, but she was also probably tired from fighting and then healing. They still needed to talk about the whole her kicking Asher thing, but that could wait. For now, she wanted to just keep herself busy and she'd deal with all the confusing stuff one at a time later. Just like Mom used to say: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Grasidia

Her peace and quiet was soon interrupted as a lone Rune Knight approached the seated Grasidia. "Are you injured, ma'am?" he simply asked, surely because of all the blood she was covered in. She simply looked back up at him silently, waiting for him to get the hint and walk away. But the awkward silence continued for a moment as this soldier seemed intent on assisting her. "No, I am fine," she finally spoke after a sigh, now standing up to her feet. "Okay just making sure. You should still get yourself checked out just in case. That dragon was pretty devastating and all." Now Grasidia was getting annoyed with the kind stranger's persistence. "This blood is not from me." Before the Rune Knight could try again to convince her to seek medical assistance she began walking back towards her gathered guildmates, leaving him baffled and confused about her state. Clearly he didn't see the earlier displays and thought she was just a civilian.

It appeared that most of her guildmates were just lingering now. Since Grasidia's curse did a significant amount of the search and rescue work, and now her comrades were just entertaining themselves and nearby civilians, she felt no reason to stay in Era any longer. She took a deep breath to steel herself before speaking up. "I'll be returning to the guild." After announcing her intentions she held her hand over the ground nearby and began forming her Leaf Caravan again. "You can take the train." It wasn't that it was particularly taxing for her to bring them all back, to the contrary it would be no effort at all, but unless anyone spoke up to hitch a ride then Grasidia simply didn't feel obligated to bring anyone else back. After all she only brought them all out to Era due to the urgency of the situation under Torys' orders, not out of the goodness of her heart. Though, almost as if on cue, a floating airship began to descend from the sky.

It landed nearby on the pavilion, where the dragon's body used to be in fact as that was the widest space without any people in the way. There were two young men on board, teenagers as far as Grasidia could tell, who were operating the thing. One of them hopped over the side onto the ground before running up to the guild. "Wow, we saw almost everything until those clouds showed up," the kid spoke up once he stopped. "We were pretty high up so it was difficult, but the Saint fellow we were transporting told us what was going on. After the clouds obscured us for a moment he just... jumped off! I tried to tell him it would take a few minutes to land but he was in a rush." Grasidia realized that these two and their airship would make fine transportation back to Crocus for the rest of her guild, thus she decided she had nothing to feel bad over for not offering a ride. "We're with Obsidian Kite and I called our master and told him what was going on here in Era. He's offering your guild a free ride back to your homes once you're ready, so that maybe one day you might save us if we ever need it! At least that's what he said."

Perfect, they offered instead, Grasidia thought to herself before stepping onto her fully formed giant leaf. It was large enough for her to sit down on this time, unlike the one she took to Era, so she quickly seated herself with crossed legs all the while keeping her gaze on the mage from Obsidian Kite. "But I gotta ask: who are you guys? I've never seen that guild mark before."

Wait, was that a giggle from Holly? Holly, armored and serious from what he assumed to be the moment she was out of the womb and she was giggling. It was cute. Why the hell was it cute? Cute and her never entered the same equation and yet, here it was.

Thankfully, Holly had became her more professional self before he could do anything stupid. "Hopefully the tabloids don't get their hands on one. I can only imagine that they would implicate us as secret lovers or something." Zenith joked though it was entirely possible that could happen; tabloids have done more with less and there was no doubt that they would want to write dirt on the mystery guild that just appeared in the public eye. There was also the fact that he was just in a recent scandal with the Rune Knights with the whole whistle blower thing so he could only imagine that the media was just going to love seeing the ex-knight involved with the guild that killed a dragon. This was going to be an interesting week that is for certain.

Lavina was more concerned about whether or not she would appear in the headlines. Considering that she looked like the stereotypical image of a dark mage, perhaps it would be better if she wasn't on the front page, but he would not tell her that. "Nah, they'll have your name in neon lights and a portrait of you right above it. They will have a speaker telling the tail of how the villainous Lavina slayed a dragon with her wicked blood magic as all of Era knelled in fear and awe of her presence." Okay, so he was pulling her leg and eventually she will be disappointed and then angry at him. Joy first, disappointment and rage later.

"Oh hey Ria. We're doing fine! Lavina patched me up and Holly and I are just shooting the breeze. You doing well yourself?" He said, ignoring the elephant in the room. He glanced back at Grasidia who announced she was returning to the guild without them. Cold, but nothing the was unexpected from her.

What was unexpected was the appearance of an airship descending down. "Today is just full of surprises." Two young men ran out of the ship and explained why they were there. So that explained how the Saint came plummeting down from the sky and yet, he only appeared when they killed the damned thing. At least these Obsidian Kite mages were offering them a free flight back to Crocus.

"We're the traditional guild, Fenixtear." Zenith said to the two Kite mages coolly. "Take care not to forget it."

Lavinia

Now Zenith’s heartbeat was speeding up too. No doubt about it: there was definitely something going on between him and Holly. Lavinia glanced surreptitiously back and forth between the two, her brow furrowed as she tried to puzzle out what it all meant. Perhaps those two were secretly mortal enemies? And their hearts started beating harder whenever they came close, because they were getting pumped to fight one another. Yes, that was probably it.

In the meantime, Lavinia’s own pulse was undergoing some drastic changes of pace, as she fastidiously avoided looking at Ria and tried to fight the parts of herself that wanted to a) laugh out loud and start monologuing about how she’d ruined the water mage’s little tryst, or b) get down on her knees and beg for forgiveness. The best thing to do right now would be to stay calm and act like nothing was wrong. Maybe if she pretended hard enough, it would come true.

”No need to be concerned, dear,” she purred, back into cool-and-calculating-mastermind mode. ”I’d never let any of my fellow mages perish by another’s hand.” She shot a meaningful look at the armored S-class, though internally her anger had died down a bit thanks to Zenith’s keen assessment of what the newspapers would be saying tomorrow. I’ll be rich and famous soon, and then I can just buy everyone expensive things and make them like me. Wait, that wasn’t right. I meant 'make them serve and obey,' of course. Whether they like me pr not is completely irrelevant! They would grovel to her like pawns beneath a queen, and bring her cool drinks and sandwiches whenever she asked.

With these thoughts in mind, she swept proudly past Zenith and pointed to the Obsidian Kite peon. ”You there, peasant! One of our own has suffered a groin injury in the preceding battle, so make sure that he is given the finest seat on board.” She raised her chin, looking down on him with a disdainful glare. ”And before you think about disobeying me, remember what happened to the dragon just now.” Her threat was totally subtle and she wasn’t sure he’d get it, but if he did then she knew he’d end up doing exactly as she'd demanded. Go, me!

Cloven Brevis
@j8cob

He had given out seven minutes in, his muscles screaming for relief as he yelled, growled really, for everyone to scatter. A big ‘THUMMM’ shook the air once he released his hold on the rock. Thin ribbons of dust whipped through about, causing Cloven to shield his mouth and nose for a second. Hope they got everything, I’m not lifting that shit up again.

As he slapped the dust off his palms, gentle pats had begun to pass across his shoulders. Harmless thanks from the civilians as they went about their business. Cloven mostly ignored this but when a elderly woman on the verge of tears shambled up to him, hugging a old tattered book; he raised a brow at her.

“What?” he asked.

“I just wanted to say thank you. This book belonged to my great grandfather, he fought in that one war y'see... It- It means a lot to me, you helped me find-”

Cloven interrupted her, his head beginning to pound. “No problem. Just doing my job.”

He strolled past her but couldn’t pin-point why at first. It was unnecessary to thank him for doing his job. If his service wasn’t justifiable, he likely wouldn’t had helped at all. That was probably it, he decided. Maybe it was because he knew he didn’t deserve it. The thought stuttered in his mind three or four times, as if the answer wasn't enough. If only he could finish a damn thought.

~* ~* ~*

Soon his guildmates were in view and from the looks of it, he had missed alot. An airship was nearby now and it looked as if the plant-wizard was readying to take them all home on her leaves or leaf. “Thank, The Son,” he murmured, feeling the weight of exhaustion on his shoulders. A mental-hint of something missing grazed him but he was too tired to search it out. His mind was languished and things were beginning to take on an odd blur, a subtle shifting.

He managed to find a spot on one of the leaves, or was it the only leaf, and fell into a criss-crossed slouch. His head dipped once, twice, and before he knew it, he was napping. A soft snore touching the air. It was restless and his mind was half-in-half-out but he was napping. What a shitty day, he mumbled. What a shitty shitty day.

Luke

Luke placed a hand to his mouth in contemplation. The mission is done, but he would like to stay and help the city recover, though he doubts everyone would let him stay behind. I guess I can go back and get some sleep? He absentmindedly double-checked around him to see if there was anything he missed. After seeing there was nothing of note, he shrugged his shoulders and lazily walked towards the floating airship.

"Obsidian Kite?" That's a guild name he's not all that familiar with. He's heard the general knowledge about them, but it was the type of knowledge that went in one ear and out the other. Lavinia then started letting out her normal, crazy personality to the newcomers, which made Luke widened his eyes a small amount. If she acts like this...won't they take back their free ride?

It seems like Grasidia isn't letting anyone else on but Cloven. That's the only exception, so Luke had to use his weakest skill to negotiate with them.

Talking.

"Um, don't mind Lavinia. She means well." He spoke softly and gently to the mages of Obsidian Kite. "She's actually a really nice person. We could use a ride back."

Luke's social skills aren't the best. He would've talked some more and probably bit his tongue had he not felt a sudden dizziness overcome his body. He's really regretting not giving his body the durability enhancement when going against that dragon. He had to take an extra step not to fall to the side. He steadied himself and walked towards the airships with his vertigo dissipating. His expression was set in utter neutrality.

Holly looked up as she was approached by Astoria, who was checking up on how everyone was doing. She was grateful for the checkup, as it showed that even through what had happened and the intense fight that they had been in their Guild was still operating to make sure everyone was alright. On the note of the checkup, Holly was feeling a little bit of pain from the fight, though it was enough that she could handle. She preferred that the others, if there were any others left to be treated, be tended to first. "I'm doing fine, Ria, thank you," Holly says with a nod of her head. "A bit of pain, that is all. Nothing I can't handle."

Zenith's joke about the tabloids implicating them as secret lovers made Holly's cheeks burn a little bit warmer, and she let out a quiet chuckle. That... Would be embarrassing, she thought, thinking about what reporters and editors would be noting down about the whole situation. Zenith was attractive, but Holly wasn't involved with him, and wasn't involved with anyone romantically. She couldn't be. It did sting a little bit to think about, but she had made her choice long ago that doing so would only be a risk to herself, and would definitely not be good for whoever she was. Nobody loved a suit of armour.

The armoured woman's eyes went skyward at the appearance of an airship. She quietly watched as it made it's way down to the ground, yet offered a silent nod of acknowledgement toward Zenith's comment about the day being filled with surprises. She gave Zenith a little pat on the shoulder, resting her hand there for just a moment before she raised back onto her feet, making her way toward the two young men from Obsidian Kite. A free ride sounded excellent, though Holly felt just a little bit of frustration at Lavinia's response to the offer. Luke seemed to already be apologising for Lavinia's attitude, but Holly felt it needed that she put in her own words, too. "I'd like to apologise for my guildmate's rudeness toward your offer. We would greatly appreciate and accept your offer of transportation. as my friend Zenith said, we're the guild Fenixtear, from Crocus." Holly realised something quickly, though. Word was getting around. If these two young Obsidian Kite members had called their Master, who had offered them a ride back home, word was getting around faster than she had anticipated. That was something Holly was proud of.

Asher

After Astoria left to go tend to the others, Asher remained where he was on ground as he waited to be sure his whole body was ready to go. With his mind no longer focused on the pain, he thinks back to the moments leading up to the incident. He was in the middle of helping Astoria recover body heat, using his magic to help expedite the process a little faster. As she was finally warming up, Lavinia, as Astoria had mentioned, was the one that shrieked at him before delivering the kick to his neithers from behind and running off. His face scowls as he remembers this. In the times he had been around her, it was clear the girl gave off weird vibes. Even so, he didn’t expect her to be one that would attack her own guild mates unprovoked in such a manner. Lavinia… I believe she’s one that can’t be trusted if this is how she truly is.

Standing back up, he grabs hold of his previously discarded shirt, still wet from before he took it off. With a sigh, he holds the shirt open, while letting a bit of heat build up inside him. Taking in a breath, he slowly begins to release the heated breath onto the shirt. As he did, the water in the cloth starts to evaporate from the heat. A minute or two passes like this, before slipping the now mostly dry shirt back over him, the fabric still warm upon his skin.

Pondering what he should be doing next, his attention is grabbed as an airship lands where the dragon’s corpse once laid. Immediately intrigued by this, Asher hurriedly makes his way over to the other now also gathering around it. His eyes took in the flying vehicle with great interest, getting his crafting blood pumping just thinking about the creation of such a thing. At the mention of them offering them a ride back to their guild aboard it, a glint shots over his eyes at this opportunity to get even closer look at how it was built. If he could understand it, perhaps… he might try his hand at making one.

As the others started to speak, Asher snapped out of his daydreaming. A small frown comes to his face as Lavinia's voice rises, seeming to threaten the people who just offered them a ride. Not only that, his head snapped over towards the guy who spoke after her, asking them to not mind her. Asher’s eye twitched when he hears him say she’s actually a “nice person”, of all things. Ha! I have my doubts about that. In any case, he was going to make sure he indicated his interest in the ride back.“I am quite interested in your offer for a ride. And, if it isn’t much trouble, would it be possible to get a tour of your ship on the way back?”

To say today was eventful would be the understatement of the century. Leon had been eagerly anticipating his first real job as a mage, though he hadn’t quite expected to be thrown into the deep end so soon. The district in which the battle had taken place was charred almost beyond recognition. He had frequented this area not six months ago; stopped for drinks with friends after class, chatted up girls at the bookstore and walked past the Council building so many times the architecture was practically imprinted upon his retinas. Though he knew the city would recover, he still couldn’t shake the feeling of despair that came from gazing over the remnants of the life he left behind.

He shook his head. Today wasn’t the time to despair over such things; his guild had achieved a victory here. Though his part was minimal, he couldn’t help but bask in the pride of being a Fenixtear Mage.

As Grasidia was set to depart, Leon considered asking the plant mage if she would take Felix back with her. He didn’t mind taking the train, but it would be best for the young boy to get some rest in a proper bed as soon as possible. Yet he remained silent, watching her prepare for her departure. Back during the fight, Grasidia had scolded him for misdirecting his attention. Now, carrying the limp body of Felix over his back, it was clear she was right to disparage his efforts. He wasn’t ready to face her yet, now knowing she was right to doubt his judgement in the heat of battle. Leon had much to learn before he could stand before a mage like Grasidia with confidence.

As the Obsidian Kite airship descended upon the group, Leon would count his lucky stars at the prospect of a free, comfortable ride back to Crocus. Boarding the ship with his peers, he turned his head towards Lavinia while she spouted some nonsense of a diabolical nature.
God, you're weird.” He smirked, walking past her to find a suitable place to put Felix down for the trip. Settling on a row of seats that weren’t occupied, he lay the boy down across them before planting himself on the floor in front. He’d monitor Felix through the trip just to make sure everything was alright.

"I'm doing fine, and so is Asher." Ria chirped in her usual chipper way, with a glance at Lavinia after assuring their newest guildmate was okay. They still seriously needed to talk, especially if Lavinia was going to be so loud and seemingly proud about the state of his genitals after her swift rearranging of them. The reason why her favorite reading companion had reacted in such a way was still confusing. She couldn't think of any reasons for it - rational or otherwise. At least if Gwen had done it... Which only served to remind her that she still needed to talk to Gwen and figure out how she could make amends with her sister for reacting so poorly.

With a blink her attention turned to Holly. It was just like their armored powerhouse to hand wave her condition. Especially at the benefit of others. But the water mage wasn't going to be deterred so easily. "Just because you can handle pain, doesn't mean you need to." The smile was back in place and she bent at the waist to examine the armor a bit. She might not have been a smith like Asher, but she could certainly pick up on damage to it. "Just like an ice bath, but not as shocking, alright?"

The younger mage didn't wait for a response that it was okay or not. She put a finger to the gap between Holly's helmet and chest piece. "Rejuvenating Waters." Just like before, the water of the spell flowed from her finger to fill up Holly's suit and soak into her skin. Unlike before, of it seeking out to replenish her energy and heal, it would feel refreshingly cool on her sore muscles, and colder where she was bruised. Ria didn't have the power left to put into it to heal deep wounds, but minor cuts and some of the bruising would certainly be mitigated. "Now you two should get on the ship before they decide to disembark without some of us."

Ria's attention turned to Lavinia. "I'm going to make sure Luke is okay since he was up close with the thing. Then you and I are going to have a little chat about that groin injury our friend Asher had." Her voice had lost that chipper tone. These were facts. She was going to check on Luke, and while she left out the part about talking to Gwen, she certainly was going to make sure she got to the bottom of why Lavinia had kicked poor Asher.

With that, she turned and headed off to where her sister and their not-brother were boarding the ship. It only took a quick assessment to realize Luke was still injured. She had no doubts that had Leon not been focused on healing Felix, he would have helped out Luke. But an unconscious kid certainly took priority over someone with just a gash on their head. Still, she cast her spell again, and offered it to him to actually heal the wound while she summoned up a tiny bit of water to help wipe the blood from his face.

Her attention turned to Gwen. "I need to talk to Lavinia about why she reacted the way she did to Asher. After that, I would like to discuss us, perhaps, taking the next week or so away from the guild to train? Just us. Or, something else?" She wasn't saying the part they both knew - that this was to make up for her being a jerk when Gwen was just concerned about her because she'd forgotten her sister had just met Asher and Cloven in the minutes leading to them entering Era. "Think about it. I'll check back in with you guys when I'm done with Lavinia."

Grasidia

Grasidia was shocked when Cloven, who had largely been avoiding her up until now, drowsily stepped past her to take a seat on the leaf she had just made for flying. Her instinctive reaction was to scowl and tip the leaf sideways to knock him onto the ground, but before she followed through she hesitated. Rather, she decided to let him stay. Instead of removing him from her Leaf Caravan she instead continued growing it, to make it large enough for the both of them to sit on it comfortably. He probably thinks others are getting on with us, she thought as she stepped onto the leaf, behind Cloven.

But before anyone else could make Cloven's mistake the giant leaf began to float upwards into the sky. We'll have a little chat... The two ascended until they were higher than the intact buildings before shooting off towards Crocus. The leaf was notably slower than before as Grasidia was far less rushed, and thus it flew at a more comfortable speed. Meanwhile on the ground the rest of the guild would make their way onto the airship provided by the Obsidian Kite mages. It was more than large enough for everyone and the two young men were genuinely curious about the Fenixtear mages. Who wouldn't want to know more about this random guild that just destroyed a dragon?

"Fenixtear, eh?" the young mage confirmed, bringing a hand to his chin as he looked the guild up and down. "A strange bunch you are. But the boss said to give you a lift so we'll give you a lift." Once everyone was on board they would soon be airborne. Of course this vessel was far slower than Grasidia's spell but was proportionately more comfortable, with several amenities onboard including a bathroom and actual seating below deck.

While the victorious mages would return to their guild the word of their accomplishment had already begun spreading. Elsewhere in the country there were guilds green with envy at missing the opportunity to slay a dragon. There were others who wondered where Fenixtear even came from. And of course the news was even reaching the average citizen. Everyone was so used to and familiar with the major guilds that it came as a shock that such an unknown guild had saved the day in Era. And if they were competent enough to slay a dragon then they must be quite the guild.

Things were already changing for Fenixtear. The dream of being recognized had finally come true, but the guild will soon realize that things aren't perfect. Several questions remain unanswered and along with all the good press comes the bad press. By becoming known and popular they have inadvertently made several enemies that they are yet to realize...

One Week Later

The massive, ornate doors to the Magic Council's courtroom slowly closed behind Torys as she approached the single podium in the center of the round room. Across from her were seated up high various old men and women, the Council members themselves, with one in particular seated higher and in the direct center of the rest. The Magic Council Chairman and member of the Ten Wizard Saints, Boram Siegfried, was presiding over this meeting. Of course the seemingly youthful Torys was quick to speak up. "Good evening, sirs and madames," she chirped with a polite bow, though her audience seemed displeased that she didn't give the Chairman a chance to speak first. "Torys Lusitania," Boram spoke up, his voice deep and gravely, "The last time you were here it was under unfortunate circumstances. I never expected to see you again, at least not in this world." Torys simply smiled politely in response.

"The reason we summoned you here today is because we've reviewed our reports of your new guild, Fenixtear. It's been confirmed that it was indeed your mages that had slain the dragon that besieged our city last week. Most of our forces, including myself and Harvard, were not present and we would've sustained serious losses had your guild not arrived in time." Once again Torys gave a cheeky smile, this time adding a curtsy to further demonstrate her smugness. "Our reports found no infractions from your guild since you had created it, thus you are eligible to become an officially recognized guild and join the Guilds of Fiore. We have decided that we would give you another chance and are offering you this opportunity to join us. Should you accept we-"

"I decline."

Her interruption shocked and stunned the room, creating a silence so severe a dropped pin could be heard. But the Chairman was the first to regain his composure. "Um, excuse me? Are you saying that you do not want your guild to be recognized as a legal guild?" Torys brought a finger up to her lips and drew her gaze to the ceiling, pretending to think it over for a few seconds. "I am saying that," she confirmed. "I politely decline your offer." One of the other council members, an old man with glasses and a bald head, slammed his fist onto the stand before him. "How dare you, Torys Lusitania!" The elderly woman with long white hair sitting next to him spoke up next. "Did you come here to disrespect us and expect to not be punished again?" The other Council members began ranting and speaking over each other all yelling at Torys, all the while she simply held her hands behind her back and kept up her smug grin. Only Boram and one other council member, a tan skinned man with a short grey beard and sunglasses, remained silent. The Chairman was seething as he stared her down from his stand.

"Well I'm terribly sorry, I meant no disrespect," Torys finally spoke up once the yelling died down some. "I only came out here because you asked. But, you see, I just don't think that I want Fenixtear to be bogged down by your taxes and rules. If I were a betting woman I would guess that you're only extending this offer to me because you've seen how much business we've been getting over this past week and how much the guild has expanded. But of course, you would never do that..." At this point Boram stood up from his chair, grabbing his stand to lean over it. "We will not make this offer again, Torys. Do not make a decision that you will regret today. If you do not accept our offer, and we find out that your guild has done anything illegal, we will jail you and your offending members and disband your guild."

"Oh please, Boram. You know that we've already grown far too famous and popular for you to label us a dark guild just like that." The Chairman gripped his stand tighter, cracking the wood visibly from where Torys was standing. "Your delusions won't hold you out of reach of justice. We will treat your guild no differently from any other unrecognized guild no matter how big you get. One wrong move and you'll spend what few days you have left in the dungeon." Once again, Torys pretended to think things over but this time she ended the facade with a shrug. "Don't worry, sir, we will continue to follow the law to the letter! And if any more dragons attack your club then you know who to call." With this she twirled around and began walking back towards the giant doors. They magically began to open as she approached but the council behind her began shouting at her back the moment she started leaving. "You have no graces left, Torys. You better watch yourself." The young-looking Torys looked over her shoulder back at the Chairman, giving him a smug grin before sticking her tongue out at him and pulling down her right eyelid with her middle finger. The attempt at disrespect was successful and she could see a vein throbbing in Boram's forehead as the two giant doors closed behind her once she left the courtroom.

Now she found herself standing in a long, marble hallway with ornate pillars to her right and various memorial paintings along the walls to her left. But directly to her side, leaning against the wall next to the doors that had just closed, was a young man. His hair was white, his skin pale, and he wore a decorated leather jacket and black jeans. His jewelry and the decorations of his clothes matched the tall golden staff he wielded. "Hello, Pallas," Torys greeted the young man without even looking. His red eyes followed the back of her head as she continued walking though he spoke no greetings in return. She continued down the hallway silently, her footsteps echoing as she went. The emotionless expression on Pallas' face didn't change, though after a moment he stood up straight away from the wall. He tapped his staff against the ground, creating a brief flash of multi-colored light. After this rainbow of light faded he was gone, leaving Torys alone as she smirked to herself on her way out.

Two Weeks Later

What once was a desolate guild hall moonlighting as a tavern to make ends meet has become active and full of life. Empty tables were filled, the job board was overflowing with quests. The last three weeks had seen explosive growth for Fenixtear as Torys accepted dozens of new mages. And all these people, including her original members, didn't have to sit around doing nothing thanks to the influx of quests being posted. So many mages wanted to join Fenixtear that Torys ran out of board above the guild hall, so many of the new mages had to get their own place to live. Everyone has been so busy that Torys had to hire a dedicated assistant to tend the bar and help manage the job board!

One person who hasn't been a fan of the changes, and possibly the only one who hasn't been a fan, is Grasidia. The plant mage thought she already had too many interactions in a day with the guild before they got big, but now there were even more humans than before by a lot. Now she gets pestered at her garden more often than before, famous for being a member of Fenixtear as one of its most powerful mages. Never before had she been asked so many questions, and so often it was the same questions just by different humans. She had grown used to her "family" over the course of over a year but all these new people have begun immediately acting friendly and getting way too close.

So of course she has been spending less time at the guild hall during the day. If she lingers at her garden too long she will be bothered there too, so she has been keeping up a habit of either getting a quest that interested her or hiding away in her room above the guild hall. It only ever died down at night and she found pleasant company in at least one of the new faces, so that would always be the best time to find her. But right now it was morning and she had just finished watering her garden. The moment she opened the door there was a small group of people waiting, compared to the occasional one that she used to have. By now she knew the routine, that most weren't here for the garden but instead to see her. To elicit a response of any kind.

But she couldn't talk to this many people at once! "Um, excuse me," she spoke, making her way through the crowd in front of her. The greetings began and were soon followed by the questions. "How are you this morning?" "Are you taking on a quest today?" "We should train together sometime, yeah?" "Are you seeing anybody?" And, just like usual, it didn't take long to work her nerves. "Be silent!" Also per the usual, her snapping once did the trick as the crowd of young mages and admirers got the hint and gave her space. With an exasperated sigh she began walking to the guild. After a moment, putting distance between her and her garden, the humans around her were no longer interested in her and were simply citizens going about their business.

As she turned into the shaded alley that Fenixtear calls home she reminisced how much she enjoyed it being empty. There was a certain peace that the alleyway had when she was the only one to ever walk through it. But those days were gone as she could see several teenagers hanging around across from the guild hall's door and a man had opened some kind of souvenir shop not too far away from them. While this meant the alley was far from crowded it still made Grasidia long for the seclusion that it used to provide. As she approached the door one of the teenagers nearby called out to her. "Hey, Gras! Good morning!" This made her pause for a moment, glancing over her shoulder at the kid. He gave an innocent, earnest smile upon making eye contact. And then Grasidia looked back towards the door.

"Hey." This voice she didn't recognize, so Grasidia turned around quickly. A man she had never seen before was suddenly there. Where did he... Before she could process any further he procured a bouquet of flowers from behind his back, offering it forward to Grasidia. This shocked her even further. "I heard you like flowers," the man continued, nudging the bouquet slightly closer to her. It was clear he wanted her to take it but she hesitated. This wouldn't be the first man to try and ask her out on a date. She had no romantic interest in humans and would always decline, this would be no exception. As she opened her mouth to speak she was swiftly interrupted. "Think of these as an offering," he began, immediately catching her glare. "If you give me just a moment of your time, in return I'll give you these nice Hakobe Snapdragons."

He even knows their name? This human is different. He's trying to entice me. He wants something, she thought, her gaze shifting down to the bouquet he held out. But then again... these would go well in my garden... Without a word she slowly reached out and took the flowers from his hand, accepting his offering. "My name is Duncan Nythe, by the way. And you're Grasidia..." "Just Grasidia." "Yes, of course. Would you take a brief walk with me, Grasidia?" He turned away, motioning with his hand to follow. She hesitated, looking back towards the front door of the guild hall before returning her gaze to his back and following him away from the alley.
