Do you have an OC monster?

We may be monsters, but we were brought here to defend this place from the true monsters - adventurers. Murder hobos who break into your homes, slay everything that moves, then ransacks the place looking for loot or cutting off your ears.

Why do they want our ears?
What use could they possibly have for them?

Hmm.... Not that I think I have just yet. I’ve always been more of a canon character player, tbh. So far, I’ve only had one OC idea that I’ve been having for years, but even then, he’s your typical mortal with superpowers and martial arts expertise.

Like half-human, half-horse? Centaur? Sure.
Half-human, half-bull? Minotaur? Sure.
Half-human, half-bird? Harpy? Okay!
Half-human, half-fish? Could use some merfolk.

But y’know what, I do have been thinking of werewolf or a full-blown talking wolf at this point since I had experiences writing wolf-themed characters (such as Wolverine and the guy whose name I used for my username). If only canon characters were allowed, I would’ve just gone ahead with Jon Talbain from Darkstalkers or Yugo from Bloody Roar, but, oh well... Lol.

P. S. Before anybody asks, no, I’m not a furry. It just so happens that some of my favorite characters in fiction have wolf as their spirit animal

I'm rather against having half-monsters because I would prefer to keep the future as something like witch + deep sea creature = sahuagin for the purpose of mechanics rather than doing half measures. That doesn't mean that someone can't be aesthetically or effectively human. If you want to play a more humanized orc, that's fine. I also don't mind if people humanize concepts (IE, oni ranges from cutie with horns to giant red/blue behemoth of muscle--I don't care where on the spectrum that's placed).

If someone wants to be a human-ish character, they'd either do something like be a human adjacent monster (see: witch, vampire) or have some phenotype/variant ala calling them something like Evil Human.

The typically "good" fantasy races (see: humans, beastmen, elves, dwarves, etc) are completely locked. Evil variants of them are allowed (see: witch, beastmen (evil), dark elves, duergar).

Do be warned I am closing up shop in like 20 hours or so. Exact time is arbitrary because I have my nightmare gacha pull stream for GFL2 that day and must entertain californian fighting game players--no idea how long the stream is going to take since i'm full spending an account that's mostly saved since launch.

Ah, I see. So, no half-monsters, right? Guess I’d just be opting for a full-blown wolf, I think. Lol. Now the problem is, I haven’t really found the best FC for this type of OC. Can’t just use Jon from Darkstalkers because there’s a good chance you guys would just recognize him, and then ask me “isn’t that just re-skinned Jon Talbain with different skills/abilities/backstory?”

Anyway, hope the stream went well for you out there, chief. Also, I saw that some of the earlier birds got sorted out. Will I get selected too if I were to apply for a character?

While I'm happy I got in, I'm afraid I'm gona have to give my spot up to someone else. As I'm currently trying to start an idea of my own, and I'm already in another RP, I don't think I'll realistically have the time or focus to juggle three projects simultaneously.

I wish you all the best of luck though. It was a fun few days of OOC shennanigans. :)

aaaand big ego has seized the initiative to 'pick' one of your names. Hopefully that's not gonna step on any toes, and I will adjust the attitude accordingly if it does.. Also it's gotten renamed as the voice bit was more when it was a middle management stand-in, where as now as it's all gambler priest oracle fits better I think. Plus, you now get to chose what the last letter of it's acronym is when you name the dungeon. My/it's fate is in your hands.

Alright. With that and Vert's 2 week vacay, it's time for... combat and gacha pulling!?

To pull on the gacha, you need at least a majority (4/7). And remember, everyone currently receives equal claim to whatever is pulled (unless everyone else relinquishes).

Of course, you can set it up later so that you each get 1/7 of the dungeon points and whatever is pulled is exclusively yours... But that's your decision! It is a union, after all.

As for combat: it's more free form with a couple of ground rules. Generally, follow these basics and write whatever you want. You can control the hero. Just imagine them as the hero boy who just left the village. Also remember, he's not afraid of death. Death for heroes is more of an inconvenience than something with consequences.

1) No matter how visually impressive you or your attacks might be, the Lv. 1 Hero is generally unaffected by them. It's as though you're shooting him with nerf darts, slashing at him with plastic knives, or punching him with pillows on your fists. He's still affected and can be wounded, but it's very much an uphill battle.

2) The hero will be cautious and afraid upon first seeing any of you. After receiving any attack, he'll become more audacious after realizing the difference in power.

3) The hero will more or less be defeated after everyone gets a hit in.

4) The hero is currently in the hall traversing to the core. There is enough time to set up a dungeon based trap, if you dare to pull on that gacha.

Neat! I spotted the gacha rules in the IC OP. As attractive as the beginners' banners are, I think Schnupfen would recommend pulling on the standard banner because a variety of monsters, equipment, and dungeon elements sounds best right now rather than investing into one branch.

Although our frontline is effectively one goblin and some rats, Schnupfen's in a unique position if this adventurer really just has a sword, in that neither of them can effectively hurt each other. He'll probably volunteer to go ahead to try and delay the boy by spooking and misdirecting him (as much as possible, since Burger mentioned he wouldn't be that affected by appearances either) in order to give the others time to gacha and make the most of it.
