I'll defer to Tank on that, but I want to point out our style again:

*Holds my hand up, fist on his chest, in a Roman Salute, and my voice carries the authority of drilled formations and battlefield command*
Marius: Amicus sum. Centurio Marius Titus, Legio XIV Gemina. (I'm friendly, I'm Centurion Marius Titus, 14th Legion of Rome, Gemina.)
*Eyes the men*
If there's a Rome still here, then I stand ready to serve it. Under what standard do you march?

TL;DR, needs to be first person, actions need to be marked with *, and quotes aren't necessary around dialogue. On the language thing, I'd probably prefer a general *Speaks in Latin* once for the character instead of doing live translation, but I probably won't enforce that unless it becomes excessive.

Varroi is their world's version of Latin. Varro is their Rome.

Halcius isn't actually Roman. He hails from the Empire of Varro, which exists in a fantasy realm separate from Earth, which is very similar to Rome, but considerably more technologically advanced and with a very powerful grasp of magic, particularly artifice and alchemy.

You can certainly convince him; he's just confused because you look very similar to a Varroi soldier, but you're claiming to belong to a unit that doesn't exist in the Varroi military. He'll likely understand once he gets that you're from a parallel reality; the Varroi deal with those on occasion.

They are an orphan, raised in an orphanage. THey were bullied and abused, and they ran away from the orphanage after they awakened their shadow powers


on the subjust of how they became interdemensional, it was several years later and they were in the shadow corridor, and they went through a branch that felt weird and when they left the shadow corridor, they were in a different deminsion (the shadow corridor is how the shadow travel appears to him)

I think it's pretty much fine--do you have any goals/motivations in play? I can try tying them into something going on depending on what that looks like.

Honestly not really, they are more of a merc, they just wont do anything targeting children, and sometimes animals depending on the situation

So sorry, I totally missed this comment! I have an idea. Do you want to start them in a world somewhere? Like, any preferred setting for a universe they'd be visiting?

not really, something with magic would be cool, like a swords and sorcery type thing maybe

just cus my character isn't bloodedge griffin the shadow ninja of the stoic monastery doesn't mean I'm not capable of seriously engaging. if anything a slightly wacky and out there character allows for a more interesting setting than "cyborg bounty hunter #47" is trying to shoot mcbad guy and he hits every shot cus I say so

Just a quick heads up that you don't need quotes for character dialogue, it's assumed. And if you could add a linebreak between action symbols and dialogue, it would help. Thanks!

Sure, there's McJRPG guy on one side of the spectrum, but I'm not totally convinced the other side of that spectrum is alien JFK.

How is my desire to roleplay as the best president (abducted by aliens) any different than another's desire to participate as an altered version of their favourite media character?
