@Mae You’re… not making an amazing case for why random visitors shouldn’t swamp you with requests despite that you’re closed, but okay! Thank you! I know I’m the very last right now, so I’m totally fine with waiting a long while (forever if so be it), the character herself is currently stuck in the “next day” of the roleplay herself and needs to wait for the rest of the characters to catch up.
With this request, I’ll note that I don’t necessarily need the amount of detail you’ve, for instance, given that absolutely gorgeous picture of Hana over there. I’m fine with, like, considerably barebones level of detail in childish style just as long as I can recognize the character. All eyes are covered, so you don’t even need to worry about that. Of course, if you eventually get to me and decide to go above and beyond that’s totally fine too and I’d be very grateful. Anyways. Here it is.
The individual I’d like you to draw has been part of a roleplay for a year. It’s a super-hero roleplay, and she’s been running with two different identities. I’d like you to draw both next to one another, if possible. This is partly why I’m saying less details is completely fine, because I’d like two next to one another. Character sheets here, but I both realize there’s a lack of proper personality section as well as I don’t entirely want you to follow what is said in the “appearance” section. I’m planning on giving everything you need to know in the text that follows.
Wisp story: Sheila Hopkins is a 16 year old girl in a super-powered Denver. Due to a traumatic incident in which her father sold her and her sister to villains, she triggered super-powers which she now uses to defend her sister. Her powers allows her to manipulate light within one meter of her, which she uses to make herself invisible, create illusionary images and attack through flashes of powerful light as well as redirected lasers. She took the cape-name Wisp, and moves out on the street to find evil lairs and lure other, more powerful heroes there so they may deal with the criminal scum. … That, and steal food and things for her sister and herself while invisible, because they don’t actually have any income.
Creep story: However, recently she got an opportunity to join a lesser villainous organization. See, as part of the villainous community she’d be privy to a lot of information she otherwise couldn’t know, gathered by the informants of the villains. Since villains often fight one-another, Sheila choose to join a lesser villainous group when they tried to recruit her, on the terms that she could only be used against other villains. From there, she could leak vital information in order to make the city a safer place. But, she couldn’t be seen as Wisp while working with them, then the heroes might start looking for her. So, she took a new identity which could be branded as a villain; Creep.
Personality: Sheila’s aloof, extremely distrustful of others but determined to protect her sister. She knows she’s frail, each move a calculated risk when every villain out there could crack her easily should they catch her, but despite this fear she moves to do what she believes is best for her sister and the town in the long run. Her sense of humor has mostly dried up with the events that have occurred to her, so she stands straight, doesn’t shy away despite her fright, and fights.
Request: I’d like you to draw Wisp and Creep standing next to one another, so I can clearly see how they look different when Sheila wears their respective costume, kinda.
Sheila on average is a tall, lithe girl. Her power-transformation made her hair white. This was the original image I based her appearance on. I will, however, note I have never previously posted this because it’s not an anime-based roleplay and it feels improper if she looks too anime. Anyways. Sheila mostly looks aloof, focused but calm, mostly. Her chest is average, legs pretty long.
Both girls (versions of the same girl) wear socks in their respective color (white/black) to make as little sound where they walk as possible. Them being invisible and all.
After writing that, I went and tried to paint a little mockup of how I imagined it. Something like this? Maybe, because she manipulates light and all, she can have the colors kind of blowing off her. White Wisp could have a black background and her white spills into the background, while black Creep has a white background that her black spills into… maybe.
Another potential idea, wouldn’t it be cool if Wisp’s standing in the darkness, shining like a light because she manipulates light, but Creep’s somehow leaping out of her back into the darkness, shadowy blobs left behind in the air so we clearly see from where she leapt, blades drawn to do battle? … Something like this?
Alright, that’ll do. While I clearly had my own ideas for what it should look like, I welcome any ideas you might have, any words of yours in what does and doesn’t work, any questions you may have and if you need any more reference pictures. Honestly, anything you want, I’m giving you the ultimate say in everything, I just tried to do as much as I could from this position. Thank you.
If you’re, like, not satisfied by that, I’d totally be ecstatic if you drew her sister as well, because she developed powers of her own and is very closely connected to Sheila, especially in how there are no pictures of her either.
Speedrunner story: After Sheila Hopkins triggered as a cape, her sister Viola Hopkins totally thought their lives would turn around for the better. But, no. Sheila locked Viola into a room and made her stay there, because she was safe in there. After realizing Sheila was never going to let her out, Viola triggered her own superpowers in despair, which made time go faster for living beings within a meter of her, allowing her to speed past Sheila and flee. Realizing she’s lazy as hell, Viola went back and stayed with Sheila, making a deal that Sheila could defend Viola as long as Viola was allowed to be free. So, thinking it was hilarious, Viola took up the persona of Speedrunner, because hilarious. She runs fast, after all.
Personality: Viola’s energetic, impish but also temperamental. She’s lazy and hedonistic, likes to make jokes and living in the now, making life as pleasant as possible for her. With these new superhuman powers, she can do whatever she wants! … Which mostly resolves in her sitting home and playing video games because lazy, to Sheila’s great relief. Would be so much worse if she went out challenging super-villains. But, Viola also cares about her sister, intently listens to the stories Sheila brings home and occasionally Sheila needs her help, and then Viola can be excited for some action.
Request: I’d like to simply see how Viola looks in her superhero outfit.
Her weapon of choice is the pole of a stop-sign with the sign itself removed, colored purple with paint. The pole is 2.13 meters tall, half a meter taller than Viola, intentionally pretty long because then she can swing it at people outside her one-meter bubble of sped-up time. She’ll have a belt where a knife similar to her sister’s is holstered.
That’s about it. I refer back to the paragraph right before the “bonus” hider. Below here I also paste Viola’s character sheet, previously only posted in PMs to the GMs, but similarly to Sheila I shared above all I believed you might need. Thank you for reading. I’ll save my next thank you in case you ever get to drawing these. Except, thank you for drawing for fellow Roleplayerguilders, you’re amazing. Heh.
Appearance: She’s an averagely tall, naturally blonde-haired girl with a big grin and big blue eyes. After having adopted the identity of Speedrunner, who has a purple theme, she colored purple lines into her short blonde hair as well, not feeling like acknowledging that it might risk her identity. She’s gained a bit of weight, due to not having done much other than eating and sitting for a while, but she still manages to look rather enticing. Her eyes are blue, and her chest is considerable.
Her Speedrunner outfit consists of a purple bicycle-helmet along with a purple full-body tight suit for cycling in, with a blended purple/white theme, to give the indication of speed. She wears purple laser-goggles, a request she had for Sheila after seeing the red ones she got herself. She likes to look like she’s just going fast. It’s a cycling sport outfit, really. When out to actually fight, of which there are no recorded instances of, she carries a long metal pole she’s painted purple. She’s never had to use it, but she has it.
History: Sheila’s history should be read before Viola’s, as Viola shares a lot of this history, and here will simply be expanded upon that.
Viola was more active than her older sister, getting friends everywhere and going out, and she was also somewhat of her parents’ favorite since she was performing better than Sheila academically. Of course, none of that mattered when Sheila and Viola overheard their father making deals with villains. That moment proved Sheila to be a lot braver and perhaps a lot more foolish than her sister, as Viola had been about to pull on Sheila to persuade her that the two of them would pretend they hadn’t heard anything when Sheila burst through the door.
When they were locked in that room, Viola quivered in fright, terrified. She was a lot more into following the cape-scene than her sister, so she knew what terrible things villains could do in the world. Sheila had seemed so resolute, trying to comfort her… strange then, that Sheila had been the one to trigger, and not her, the obviously distressed one.
It was in awe that Viola saw her sister trigger, and it was with great joy that she let herself be rescued. Her sister was a cape! She’d become a superhero! How awesome was that!? Enthusiastic, Viola started openly speaking about her big sister joining the Wards, when…
That one word from Sheila crushed all of Viola’s newfound hopes. Sheila’s newfound distrust at everything after the betrayal of their father meant she didn’t trust the Protectorate, either. She didn’t trust anyone, and only she could keep Viola safe, according to Sheila. Viola reluctantly obeyed, and found herself locked inside an abandoned apartment by her sister.
Viola was locked in alone, fed by her sister and provided entertainment in the form of computers, books and games that she was fairly sure her sister had stolen, and she was not allowed to leave. It was difficult to distract herself with entertainment when what she really wanted was freedom. Sheila said that, when the villains that were likely after them were dealt with, she’d be allowed out, but…
One day, they were dealt with. Sheila had guided the Protectorate to eliminate the threat. Viola asked happily to be allowed out, since the danger was now over. Sheila did not answer for a long while, before she replied, “No”. Sheila’s worry was too great. A shaken Viola asked when she would be let out, and Sheila gave no answer. Viola interpreted that as “never”. In rage and sheer desire to escape, Viola triggered.
Her power easily allowed her to escape. It was with a shout of joy that she sped past her sister, who was still dazed after the vision she saw, and Viola left for freedom. She left her big sister behind, went out on the streets, and… Where would she go now? Become a Ward? … Somehow, that would come with rules and limitations and whatnot, and she’d no longer be free. She didn’t want that. So…
Viola came back to her sister, found her bawling where Viola had vanished from. Letting herself be hugged, Viola struck her deal. In exchange for her freedom, she’d allow Sheila to care for her. Sheila reluctantly agreed.
Her new power sped up time for living beings within one meter of her. While objects were unaffected, she found that books did not need to move to be enjoyed in sped-up time and that computers could mostly keep up with her. While playing games, hitting those special frames with all her added time to think was easy-peasy, and it allowed her to easily take up speed-running as a hobby.
Naming herself “Speedrunner”, because she thought it was hilarious and because she could beat games so quickly in her orb of sped-up time, Viola lived a happy life of avoiding danger, getting fed a lot by Sheila and teaching herself things with books and computers. Because she was sped-up, she occupied her time well. The internet was always a pain due to being so painfully slow.
When on her own, she went out to nightclubs in her Speedrunner suit that Sheila prepared for her, because they would allow her then, despite her age. She went to libraries and read by herself in sped-up time for long periods of time, but her lack of patience made her unable to get deep in many subjects other than fiction. But, programming… programming somehow caught her interest, and she was able to envelop herself.
She started taking missions for money from online, and she completed them in record time, because her problem-solving was so sped-up and the computer could almost keep up with her. If she wanted something, she could just speed herself up and go get it. Villains trying to grab her? Heh, try keeping up with the Speedrunner! Heroes trying to recruit her? Nah, too much effort. What, you’re persistent? Explaining all the benefits? Well, Speedrunner flees! She already gets all she needs from voluntary programming! They can’t keep up! Hahaha!
… It became an addiction. Life moved so slowly without speeding up time, so she did it constantly. She learned first after after some (real) time that it aged her body, and by then it was already a habit. Sheila tried to tell her to stop, but Viola found herself falling to the slightest temptation to speed up time, and it felt good. Four months later, and one year’s worth of provisions consumed… and she was actually a great deal older now. One could ask if she was still the younger sister now.
Viola has recognized the danger, and is actively trying to avoid unnecessarily using her power now. She uses it much more rarely. But… it is so tempting to use it to reach a destination faster, just sliiiiiiiightly doesn’t matter, riiiiight…? Just a little bit, here and there…
But it hurts her. She couldn’t program as efficiently or actually speedrun as she had while speeding up time. She recognizes that she can’t continue like this. What will she do? She… doesn’t know… what to do… She also knows her sister is a thief, but… What could she do about it…? It’s the way they live. And… Viola recognizes her own laziness. Her own inability to take on duties. She hadn’t been like that before she triggered. What… should she do…? Viola’s… lately been feeling a lot of stress over this. What will happen…?
Motivations: Viola desires happiness, for her and her sister, but she’s unsure how to get it. Especially now, when she realized the dangers of her own power. Sexuality: Bisexual (‘cause, like, why close that door?) Likes:
Computers and video-games
Comfort and safety
Caring and protective Sheila
Duties and restraints
Worried and possessive Sheila
Derangement: Viola has completely lost her discipline. Her mind is lazy and quickly gives way for even slight temptations. This is what caused her to abuse her power so excessively the last four months. She recently realized it and is trying to restrain it, but it’s like trying to get out of drugs. It’s terrible. And, she’s repulsed by even the idea of taking on actual involuntary duties…
Skills: Viola is a pretty good talker. She’s also pretty good at video-games, yes, and she has taught herself programming because it was the one thing that actually interested her.
Details: Viola creates a bubble of one meter diameter from herself, and all living things within that bubble is sped up in time. All objects or people outside the bubble appears to move slowly. Anyone that enters the bubble speeds up, anyone that leaves it returns to normal speed. To be sped up, the person needs merely to touch the field the slightest. While Viola cannot affect the range, it’s always one meter, she can choose how fast she wants to speed up time, from 1 to 4 times normal speed.
Viola can move like a bullet through town with her time sped up, causing her to move up to four times faster than a normal person. As simple as that. This also applies to any other living being that touches her field. She’s also given up to four times more time to consider a strategy to employ. This effectively makes her able to react to any action of her opponent up to four times as fast, and come up with her own schemes just as fast.
Since objects are not affected by her power, when she does apply force on objects, she does so with up to four times the speed, and therefore up to four times the amount of force that it’d normally be if she moved normally. This means that, if she throws something at high speed, it will travel with more force. If she swings something, it also becomes with up to four times the applied amount of force, unless she’s swinging it at someone inside her own sphere. The same applies to any movement by any other living being that is affected by her power. This is why she carries the steel pole, actually taken from a signpost and removing the sign. To strike people outside her sphere of influence.
Limitations: Any living beings affected also finds everything else in their body acting faster. Bodily needs, aging. With other words, if she uses it too much she’ll age prematurely. It’s scary. She has a really powerful power, but the cost is dangerous. … In addition, all it takes is for an enemy to enter within one meter of her. Then she cannot choose not to speed them up along with herself. Assuming she cannot successfully run, she’ll be comparatively powerless in the sped-up room, together with a fully powered enemy. That’s it for her. If someone catches her, she’s a young teenage girl with no means to protect herself beyond her knife.
In addition, Manton Effect means only living things are affected by her power, her clothes and weapons are not affected. This means that, when she moves, she has to push all her clothing and equipment as she makes those sharp turns, and the difference in acceleration means the things she wears will weight up to four times more. As all she does has up to four times the amount of energy, that’s not actually that much of a problem, but it does mean she gets slowed down a little bit more by her items the faster she’s going, and this will wear her down. She’ll tire quickly during a fight.
Equipment: A mobile-phone with Sheila’s number, under a fake contact name. A long, purple-painted metal pole, 2.13 meters long. This to strike people outside her sphere’s range with increased power. It’s actually a stop-sign with the sign removed. A knife, just in case, for close combat.
@PlatinumSkink The thread is closed until the current commissions are completed. I am happy to add people to a pinglist for if or when I reopen commissions after these current ones are finished, but there are no guarentees either way. I don't mind people dropping by or asking for requests as there might be characters or projects that particularly interest me that I'd be willing to take on after I clear my current list. Plus, a couple of the people who have dropped requests after the thread closed are friends of mine.
Most likely after I catch up I want to spend some time improving areas which I have noticed I'm lacking in skill currently, so naturally if a request coincides with that, I'd jump onto it.
The way I see it this thread has always been casual/learning experiences for me with the bonus of people *hopefully* getting art they like out of it. But you're right in that I should add a closed sign to the first post if only because I take so darn long :P
Anyway, TL:DR I don't really mind requests so long as people know what they're getting in for. Bit of a ramble, sorry, but I just felt like clarifying what you mentioned in your first sentence xD Also thanks for the level of detail in your request, being able to have thumbnails/potential compositions and reference images always makes my life so much easier.
On the topic of me taking forever xP @Duskshine749@Majoras End heads up the art files for your commissions now take a century to load and I can eat snacks between brush strokes. So while I am attempting to export layers individually into smaller files to work on, it's a pain in the booty and bums me out when I can't see the full composition coming together at once. I'll probably jump onto your commissions again properly once my new computer arrives and me and photoshop go to couples counselling. If all goes well that should be by the end of this week or early next week (hopefully) (I want my new computer so bad ;_;)
@Overlord Thraka Mae's currently working on a backlog, and there is a queue. She also recently got a new computer, and needs to set up her brushes and all that. As for whether she'll accept new commissions... that's something I don't know.
[@cCollecterOfMyst] Thank you! I was just wondering. I saw one of my 1x1 partners had a character done by @Mae and thought if She was open for commissions I might take her up on one. Thank you again for informing me, perhaps I'll be back when the queue isn't so long
