An alliance of gods brought together by a common goal. Such a thing is not uncommon for the more noble deities within Orario. However, most of these alliances are simply that of friendships. Gods being friends with gods, therefore they help each other. This alliance, however, was different. Born of common goals rather than pleasantries, a collective of gods had formed in order to fight against a common threat. While their conflict is great and will have severe repercussions throughout Orario, this isn't the tale of gods and their petty politics.

No, this is a tale about their symbol of unity. Formed as a sign of their alliance, this small group of rookie adventurers had no idea what was in store for them as a consequence - and blessing - for their formation. While they were nothing more than regular adventurers when they began, each one of them had that small spark of greatness that is found in so many legends. Together, those sparks would coalesce into a legendary tale of adventurers.

Magic

For most adventurers, Magic is something that they will never acquire. However, those lucky enough to be blessed with magic are done so either at birth (Congenital Magic) or when they are blessed with falna (Acquired Magic). That isn't to say that the average adventurer is unable to acquire any form of magic. Through the usage of prohibitively expensive grimoires, one can acquire magic incomparably strong compared to the magic one is born or blessed with. However, this doesn't mean mankind holds an unlimited aptitude with magic. For one reason or another, mankind can almost always know only three spells at a time. While exceptions exist, the general limit is three, be it of birthright, blessing, or knowledge.

People who are able to cast magic while moving or fighting are considered to be masters in magic, being called users of Concurrent Casting.

Generally, magic contained within a grimoire is the strongest, followed by the blessings that come with falna, then the magic people are born with, and finally, learned magic.

Magic is generally cast with a chant and then saying the magic's name to activate it. In the result a magic chant is interrupted or otherwise fails, an Ignis Fatuus occurs and the user is harmed by their own magic exploding. Magic that doesn't require a chant is extremely rare, contained usually in grimoires or high level blessings. Overuse of a magic can result in mind fatigue. Often jokingly called dozens of other things (such as mind break, brain busted, brain off, etc), the condition is actually quite serious and many adventurers have perished because they didn't pace themselves.

Curses exist as an alternative to magic. The most important difference is that they have a side-effect on the user. They're stronger, but the same restrictions still apply.

Skills

Opposed to magic, skills are the second blessing given with Falna. Skills can be seperated into two different categories: Skills and Development Abilities.

Skills can be acquired at any time. They're usually passive, but they can have conditions that activate them during certain times. Generally, discovering a skill is considered to be rare and nigh impossible to reproduce. Skills with effects that nobody else has are considered to be Rare Skills. Like magic, skills can be inherited via bloodlines. This is, however, exceedingly rare.

Development Abilities occur during leveling up. While there's a small chance that a skill can be chosen from a list, it's also not uncommon that no developmental abilities appear at all. Developmental abilities, like stats, can increase in strength the more they're used. While it's harder for these skills to grow than stats, they don't reset through levels.

Items

The currency of Orario is Valis. 30v is equal to one latke while 300v is equal to one meal. For real world value, we can assume that 300v is equal to 10$. A party of 5 adventurers can usually make 5000v each every day. This is equal to 167$.

To acquire valis, adventurers usually turn in magic stones and drop items. Magic stones are the 'heart' of monsters, while drop items are whatever a monster possesses when they die. Most items that monsters possess are worthless, but those useful objects often sell for exorbitant sums.

Magic Items are items that are enchanted with a magic. Upon use, the item casts the magic instead of the wielder. This means that the wielder is not subject to mind fatigue. Magic items have a limited amount of uses and then they shatter. This means that most magic items take the form of weapons or simple trinkets, as having armour break on you is terrifying.

Potions are the general restorative item. Weak potions cost around 500v, while the strongest potions cost upwards of 500,000v each.

Grimoires are single use items that allow for someone to learn a single spell. They are generally unaffordable for anyone outside of extremely rich, famous familias.

Stats

Strength is the stat of power. It primarily concerns itself with the power within oneself.
Endurance is the stat of attrition. It primarily concerns itself with how far one may push themselves.
Dexterity is the stat of handling. It primarily concerns itself with the finesse of fighting and the wielding of weapons.
Agility is the stat of speed. It primarily concerns itself with the quickness in which one may act.
Intelligence is the stat of magical ability. It primarily concerns itself with the power of one's magic.

Many attributes of adventurers require two different types of abilities. For example, the strength of thrown weapons would require both agility and dexterity. The ability for one to mitigate blows would require both endurance and strength. The capacity of magic would require both endurance and intelligence.

Locations

Orario

The labyrinth city. The only dungeon in the world is located beneath the ground of Orario. This has concentrated gods, goddesses, and familias as it's the fastest - and greatest - way to get strong. Orario is centered around Babel, with 8 districts evenly spread around the tower.

Appearance

Strong, sinewy, and entirely not afraid to show any of it, there's a lot of power packed into her compact frame and Kori knows it. While she prefers to be fully and sensibly armored in battle, she's more than willing to flaunt her figure every now and then in casual wear. The paladin further takes that confidence and has it exude from her every step as she always seems to walk with sure feet and clear direction.

Personality

Growing up as one of the eldest children in a large family, Kori developed her matronly instincts early as she helped raise her siblings for most of her life. Doting, caring, and at times overbearing, the young woman does her best to look after those she considers close and will stand by them thick or thin. However, getting close to her is often difficult as she holds almost everyone else at a comfortable arms length away.

Still, that does not stop her from being at least cordial to everyone she meets as she puts on a larger-than-life persona, pulling along everyone around her as tries to experience all that life has to offer. In pursuit of that goal, Kori has come to be about as direct and unsubtle as a boar and while she's no stranger to pulling the odd fast scheme or two, her brashness has made her prefer getting to the root of any problem or situation as quickly as possible. That has also unfortunately molded her into developing a very short temper. Luckily, she's willing to shake hands and make up with someone just as quick as she's willing to throw a punch or lecture someone.

Backstory

One half of the eldest twin pair among five other siblings, what Kori lacked in privacy the Lielles more than made up for it with love and company. Her parents did their best to provide for all seven of their children with both Arren and Nadine Lielle being somewhat successful adventurers before turning their swords into plows once Nadine became pregnant with both Kori and her brother. Farming was not the most secure or profitable profession however, and despite her parents' wishes or her siblings' tears, Kori left and journeyed to Orario one silent night.

But becoming a dungeoneer was easier said than done. Every familia that the fresh faced farm girl had tried to join wouldn't accept her, and the ones that would were ones that Kori refused to accept. It wasn't until she had come into the company of a strange goddess and her small and equally eccentric band of merry followers did Kori find a new home.

Armed with her falna and supported by her familia, the young adventurer now happily delves into the Dungeon to support both her families, new and old.

Personality

Though harmless for the most part, Hecate has a tendency to really get into her role of being the GODDESS OF MAGIC, CROSSROADS, GHOSTS, AND NECROMANCY. However, her act is all to hide a nervous and insecure core that continually has her doubt her choice to descend from the Heavens and whether she's capable of truly supporting the few people that depend on her. She does understand that there are times where to connect with her familia she has to stop pretending to be the confident goddess that she wants to be and does make efforts to try and stop depending so much on that persona, but until then and to everyone else in the world, she is HECATE, SUPREME WITCH AND ALWAYS IN CONSTANT PAIN FROM SUPPRESSING HER TRUE POWER LEST IT DESTROY THE WORLD.

Reputation

Many people at this point know that Hecate's confident persona is mostly an act. Still, that does not mean she has stopped being a literal god nor that she doesn't have or can grant actual power to her familia. Among her peers however, Hecate is seen as amusing and harmless.

Power Level

The only people that are really part of the Hecate Familia are those who adopt similar personas or delusions as their goddess, leaving them rather small in number as most other people are typically unable or unwilling to handle their myriad colorful personalities. This makes Kori a bit of an oddity in her familia as she does not share in their behavior, but is willing to indulge them as long as they all remember to eat and bathe on occassion and do all their actual necessary chores such as all their adminstrative work. It is Kori's greatest wish that she could depend on them one day to do so without her having to remind them every time.

Oben is a carefree individual whose adopted a happy-go-lucky outlook to shield himself against the inherent darkness he awoke in. Surrounded by dead bodies with not an inkling of knowledge to his name, he also cultivated an intense curiosity for the world around him. After he met Tyche and she gave him a family, he opened his heart to her and discovered a bountiful amount of kindness inside. Despite this he wars with a sense of isolation because of his amnesia, Tyche has advised wearing his darkness to battle the sporadic depression it causes. And because he cherishes, Tyche's opinion so highly, he happily obliged.

Backstory
Oben awoke amongst a dead family in a wrecked cabin deep in the woods. His memories all but gone and most of his knowledge missing, the teen picked himself up and begun wandering in search for anyone else. For a time the woods had become his home. A place comforting in the sense that it was all he knew. Then he was found by a lone Huntsman who eventually took him to Orario. There the dungeon was a tantalizing depth of experience.

He lived with the quiet Huntsman in Orario, receiving both a name, some sense, and much needed training. However the man left abruptly on business, leaving Oben in the old home. With little to occupy him he eventually wandered from there too. Seeking another figure to help him understand the world around him.

It was Tyche that brought his humanity to the surface. She sowed a seed by being unapologetically herself and offering for him to join her familia. He agreed off of a whim and it happened to be the best decision ever. The Goddess of Fate, Chance, and Fortune allowed him to bloom naturally into himself, flaws and all. Together with the other members of his familia, Oben has become something of a personality. Now he hunts in the dungeon for the sake of discovering new and wondrous curiosities.

As the Goddess of fate, chance, and fortune Tyche has a reputation to uphold. She presents herself as happy-go-lucky and lazy, perfectly content with her new life. When the opportunity arose she was one of the first to dive into the human world. Traditionally she preaches that fate is in control and that one should simply give in to it. However, when it comes to her Familia she adds that one's own fate is their sole possession. That believing in complete control is a folly sure to lead to despair. In this manner, she carries a great amount of wisdom into the psychology of life and one's experience towards it. However, she is easily worried by the troubles of her Familia and often times focuses solely on alleviating those pains.

Reputation
Her reputation amongst the Gods and Goddess is fickle. Some see her as the rascal, others the trouble maker, and a special few acknowledges the depth of her mind and philosophies. For her truths could be transcribed for not only the mortals but the Gods as well. Some Gods come to her in hopes for clarity in their troubles, while most just enjoy her jaunty personality and subtle antics. Her Familia has a high-rate of departure, causing some to mock her as undesired.

Power Level
The power of the Tyche Familia is growing slowly. Before they had been consistently weak but recently Tyche has been on a lucky streak, finding more and more promising beings to join her. After finding Oben, a fire seemed to have been lit in the Goddess. At the moment she has a Familia consisting of promising rookies.

Long, limber, and built like a coiled spring. Castor is well-toned with freak flexibility, able to contort his body in angles that would make most yelp with pain. His usual demeanor screams cocky defiance and he boasts a certain swagger in his everyday movements to match. The scars he accrues hold significant meaning and he will never hesitate to show them given the chance.

Personality:

A polarizing figure to say the least, Castor leads life with an unflinching self-confidence and defiant attitude. Loves to talk trash. Ever quick to jump headlong into a risky situation and even quicker join an adventure. He backs up his cocky attitude with a dog-like work ethic, extreme discipline, and focus beyond his years. The knowledge that he has to have the bite to back up the bark is ever present in his mind.
Never one to shy from an opportunity to flaunt his skills, he jumps to prove himself in battle and earn glory. His fundamental goal in life is the pursuance of immortality. Not the frivolous immortality of long life, but the everlasting immortality of placing his name in the annals of history. Castor seeks to earn fame and renown wherever he goes and is moved to achieve great deeds within his lifetime to accomplish this.
In social situations...It’s enough to say that he is learning. He is best described as jovial but awkward as he stumbles through social etiquette while trying to make friends. He tries his best to act polite amongst those he acknowledges as his equals (“rivals” in his words). Can offer faithful loyalty to those who have earned his trust and appreciation.

Backstory:

Born into the disgraced Caraway household, Castor was the youngest of seven siblings and was set to inherit nothing. The sedentary lifestyle of normal people appalled a young Castor as he set his interests to the outside world. His mind filled with stories and fables of legends past, Castor developed a near obsession to be renowned far and wide for his own accomplishments. He began working on his physique at a young age to pursue his lifelong dream and find glory.
He left the Caraway household and his family behind when he felt ready to venture out to Orario and start building his reputation. Shortly after arriving in Orario he caught the eye of the god Bellona who appreciated his audacity and confidence. The goddess of war saw budding potential in the raw prospect and took him into her Familia. The newest untested member of the large familia, Castor is hungry and eagerly seeks to climb the ranks.

Personality:

Calm, decisive, calculating. Most would mistake Bellona for a goddess of wisdom with her prim and elegant demeanor. In public she carriers herself with grace and class, with the appearance of a smart, capable, goddess. To her Familia, she acts as a cool big sister type, caring for all those under her wing with a stern hand and a surprisingly crass vocabulary. She loves strategy and often plays chess with whoever she can to pass the time. She finds Castor's cocky attitude amusing and interestingly enough, enjoys teasing him.

Reputation:

Known well amongst the gods and goddesses as one to look to for advice. Known equally well for her shrewd business reputation and her dealings in maps/cartography. She is seen as a bit intimidating to some of the other gods/goddesses for her cold outward appearance. Her prowess in chess is well known and she hardly ever can find opponents to play with her.

Power Level:

The Bellona Familia has long been a family on the rise. A relatively powerful family with reputable and talented longstanding members, it was considered inevitable that the family would eventually grow in power. However, there peculiarly have not been any new members for some time until recently, with Castor Caraway being taken in. The family boasts a strong small core of experienced, veteran adventurers but nobody else besides Castor.

Appearance:
Around 6’2 in height. His appearance would have him look within the early 20’s in human years.

Personality:
Cautious, inquisitive, and a bit of an introvert who finds it hard start conversations. He can come across as rather stiff because of it, though once he is comfortable with someone, they will see he does care about the wellbeing of those around him. He just has a hard time opening up to those he isn’t used to.

Deep down, Adamar has developed a bit of an Inferiority complex. Others generally didn’t give him much of any attention for most of his life. Even within those few his own family, it wasn’t expected of him to go beyond being just another average elven citizen. As such, he has developed an inner resolve to prove them wrong. He will not just exist as another face that fades into the crowd. He’ll learn, he’ll train and he will succeed.

Backstory:
Adamar hails form the elven capital, having arrived in Orario not very long ago. Back in the capital, he was often overlooked by others due to his introverted nature and hailing from a more prestigious family. As such, there was limited opportunities he felt he had available if he was ever going to do something meaningful. However, that changed when he had heard of Orario and the dungeon that it resides over. Adamar saw this as a grand opportunity. So little was known about the dungeon and it’s workings. What mysteries await in its depths? Adamar in that moment had made up his mind. He’ll depart to Orario and

Upon getting there, it was soon found that any meaningful access to the dungeon would require him to join one of the various Familia in the city. It was after days going around Orario, as he was getting frustrated and disheartened in the search for one that would give him a chance, that he was approached by a stranger. Over a period of time, found himself in a conversation with this new aquatintice, most of which was questions towards himself. When the conversation came to an end, the stranger revealed themselves to be none other than the goddess Athena. Even more surprising to him was that she must have been intrigued enough about him from their conversation, as she then extended an offer for him to join her Familia. After all his previous denials from those he had approached, to have one now actually recruiting him themselves, he was quite elated. As such, he readily agreed and became the newest member of the Athena Familia.

Appearance

She's very small, clearly, and has distinct goat features, namely the two large and two small horns protruding from her skull. If you're not careful she'll spike you upon them. Grímhildr is clad in some of the most mind-boggling armor, only covering her non-vitals, namely her shoulders, breasts and the side and back of her hips. Other pieces of armor are on her shins and forearms, which is where clearly a lot of protection has to go.

She has long, spiky ears adorned with several rings, to show everyone how tough she is. Underneath her eyes are thick lines of red warpaint that double as makeup. All her other features are very lithe (I mean, she's 155CM, what else could they be) so clearly she needs something that screams I'M HERE, like the makeup.

Her midriff is exposed through some see-through cloth, giving everyone a nice big target on where to aim in order to debowel her quickly. The opposite is true of her pants, which are just some very loose black linen pants. Uhh, it probably helps with movement, or something...

Despite her best attempts at ensuring the opposite, she looks rather weak.

Personality

Grímhildr was a single child that had little else to do than cause problems, and cause problems she did. From a young age she was blessed with a lacking intellect and a towering strength, so her favorite past time included smashing things and not understanding basic concepts. Trying to explain how a cart wheel worked to her proved to be a challenge early on, never mind the intricacies of something as stupid as magic. To her, the world is one giant playground meant for her to explore and destroy.

And destroy she will.

Other elements of her personality include her rather obtuse nature, her insane bravery (to the point of suicidal recklessness) and intense disregard for her own safety as well as that of others. Better get out the way when Grímhildr barrels on through.

What she lacks in basic skills a person should possess she makes up for in the sheer !FUN! she is, although whether or not one might find her fun is up to their subjective view of fun. She's incredibly friendly to her pals, and is not afraid to share a drink or ten at the campfire if the need arises (and the need arises nightly). She can be very affectionate, especially to motherly people, and loves to annoy the shit out of people (intentionally or not).

Backstory

Her family wasn't exactly the best family for Grímhildr to grow up in. Not because they were abusive but because they didn't inhibit her natural traits but rather just enhanced them. When she destroyed something as a child she was not met with a cacophony of scolding elders but rather praise and laughter. A sensible child this produced not, especially when her education was found the be rather lacking at the hands of her parents.

The only place for a child like her was dungeoneering, and frankly, it was probably the best place fo her personally as well. Who didn't want to smash monsters and gather interesting curiosities left and right? Boring people, that's who.

Finding a familia wasn't too hard either, after all Sandraudiga was the exact fit for Grímhildr. The rest of her days would be filled with alcohol, smashing shit, and being rowdy and stupid every day! Well, if she survived the dungeons that was.

Personality

Most of her time is spent reveling in ALCOHOL, which furthers her lacking intellect but helps replace it with a brutish strength. Much like her patrons, Sandraudiga is occupied with simple minded things like destroying, smashing, killing and not understanding the world around her. Her personality is, for that purpose, quite lacking. If she were any more stupid, she'd probably be unable to speak, but here we are. With a goddess that can speak somewhat cohesively if she is not inebriated.

Reputation

Her reputation is one of two things - you either know her, and know to stay away from her, or you don't know about her at all. Indeed, most gods are probably unaware that Sandraudiga is a goddess. Those that do know probably find no use out of her, and her tendency to smash random things is more a liability than a boon for any that might think to invite her to their dwellings.

Power Level

If you could gather the most unintelligent, headstrong, stubborn, and strong people in one place, then you would have Sandraudiga's familia. While there are plenty of people who are dumb enough to join the familia, there are unfortunately not many that are strong enough for it, and so the familia remains rather small, despite the growing attraction of it.

I mean, who wouldn't want to destroy shit in the name of a goddess?

I don't usually feel the need to say this, but somehow the sheer idiocy of this character makes me feel the need to remind you that yes, this is a serious application.

Seth is tall and well-built, the healthy physique acquired from younger years spent traveling with his father’s caravans across the country. Red hair and amber eyes might stand out, along with a terrible scar that took the left half of his face, but Seth prefers to keep a low profile most of the time, blending seamlessly into the crowd as another faceless traveler with a hooded cloak and unassuming posture. He also has a preference for sturdy leather wear, keeping all of his clothing in particularly good shape through meticulous maintenance.

Personality
Seth is mild-mannered and friendly enough, basically the type to get along with most people. He tends to be the quiet man in the group, mostly keeping his opinions and thoughts to himself, unless he deems it appropriate to share. He also has the tendency to wander off on his own sometimes, preferring to pursuit his interests on his own, which mostly includes sweet wine, fine leathers and handicrafts.

Backstory
As the third son of a merchant, Seth lived his childhood in the relative comfort of a happy and well-off family. When he was of age, his father began to take him and his brothers on long trips across the country, hoping he could teach his sons about the tools and strife of the trade. Spending much of his formative years on the back of busy caravans, Seth eventually acquired both the necessary skills to survive on the road and the insatiable wanderlust often found in the young and foolish. His father, understandably, was not supportive of his youngest son’s lofty dreams, so they arrived at an impasse, which culminated in Seth abandoning the caravan and disappearing off in Orario.

It has been a whole year, since. Sometimes Seth wondered if his father still waited for him like a prodigal son, or the old man’s spite has hardened into persecution. Regardless, he knew he would not return any time soon. For a time, he occupied himself with finding work. Eventually, with his desire to carve out his own path, Seth found himself thinking about the Dungeon. He never tried to join any familia though, believing he was not good enough at the time.

As fate would have it, he met a stranger that night, at his temporary job at the local tavern. The strange man stared at him with golden eyes for almost a full minute, then offered him a job that 'can take you to where you want to be'. Seth half-expected to be mugged and left for dead in a nearby alley when he decided to follow the stranger later, but the man only brought him to a familia home and urged him to join. Seth did, and to his surprise, he got accepted. Only later did he learn that the stranger was actually Hermes himself.

Regardless of the reason, Seth was grateful for the opportunity. He set his eyes on the Dungeon, as daunting and indomitable as it appeared.

Hermes, the messenger god. Patron of merchants, travelers and thieves.

Personality
Being a bit of a wise ass, Hermes has a way of talking that makes it seems like he knows something you don't. He might appear insufferable and sarcastic at times, the glee in his voice might be far too palpable and his grin might just be too vexing. However, at the end of the day, Hermes just wants to see people reach the end of their journey by any mean necessary, wherever that will take them. He extends his blessing to those who dare to be lost, and those who eventually find their way.

Reputation
Hermes does appear to be an absentee father at times, when he disappears off to whatever corner of the realm. However, he expects his familia to carry on even in his absence; after all, he values autonomy. He also offers no tangible goal, no standard to strive for. He wants his followers to create those for themselves.

Power Level
Hermes’s familia currently has about a dozen members, mostly explorers with a bad case of wanderlust or scholars who wish to chart out the Dungeon for whatever reason. Most members are not particularly well-versed in direct combat, and they tend not to involve themselves in fights in the first place.
