I thought having Grand wait on the surface before teleporting down might be a bad thing for Dawn's safety. If you still want Ferrin to join Grane, you could have Ferrin be close enough to Grane to grab him as he teleport down.

Oh, this is kinda interesting. Ferrin stil technically in trouble for the attack on Iron Enigma, although, its possible Grane doesn't know about that. Or, at least, doesn't connect Ferrin to the incident.
