So I've been thinking of possibly creating a character who can manipulate time to a certain extent. Course I have a certain way I'd like to try and limit it, possibly only limiting time travel to a couple of hours backward at most and maybe removing the ability to change things, as well as a possibly parasitic entity that gives said time controllers their powers at the cost of their lifeforce/lifespan.

As long as you're comfortable with the notion of other time travelers, I don't see much of a problem.

Since I'm on my primary account at the moment, I'll go a ahead and answer now. Yes, I am comfortable with the idea of multiple time travelers, though I must ask for the details of how time travel functions in this before I even attempt to touch it. Manipulating times "flow", regardless of if it actually flows or not, is one thing. But hopping about through time? That can be messy. Do changes create alternate timelines that exist alongside the original one? Does the original get replaced? Or are changes just impossible due to time self correcting?

In MR, every dimension has its own (or multiple) time travel systems, often defined by whatever method the time traveler uses to go back in time—that way it can work however you want. If they want to go back in time in every dimension at once, it's a little more convoluted.

The thing that concerns me is how changes are handled, though I suppose each dimension could be equally hindering or helpful in that regard thanks to the independent systems thing. As for how, I plan on using a ring type time travel device, that can also slow time, by a user manipulating the bands on said ring to set the time either of the trip or the slow. This ring will also leech years from the wearer, though I have yet to decide how specifically that works.

Yeah, exactly. As long as it's clear what you're aiming for, everyone should reasonably "get" it.

Alright. Also, I will be making a sheet this time, though that's more for the sake of keeping track of how I originally planned to play the character than for anything else.

Sure, that's fine. We should be able to make it work however you decide to put it together.

I thought they needed Seconds strings to time travel.

that might be for time travel in all dimensions at once as I doubt a Time Lord or some such from the Doctor Who universe/dimension needs Seconds strings to use the Time Vortex.

Edit: To quote someone who knows...

We had this huge discussion trying to hammer out the new time travel rules so that people couldn't keep going back Existence-wide after a certain event a while back. I don't remember much of it though but we just had a convo about the individual universe time-travel the other day so this is good timing.

The Strings of Fate can buy you more time before disappearing (which is what Singularity is using to stay anchored in the past), but they don't enable time travel.

I'm assuming the Strings of Fate apply to time travel in Existence as a whole rather than local dimensional time travel systems?

EDIT: Because again, local dimensions can have their own ways of dealing with paradox if they have their own forms of time travel. Logically anyway.

Yes to the edit. To the former, the Strings of Fate don't exist for the purpose of time travel; they connect to anything in reality and just happen to conveniently behave like an anchor when it comes to time traveling. There are other things you can use to anchor yourself though.

@Host Quick change though, looking at some more images of similar rings I found that the top band goes down to 1, so I've changed the duration for both the second and first bands to minutes. Just giving a heads up.

EDIT: I figured a second of time slowing wouldn't be that useful all things considered.
