London is generally the go-to place for newcomers. It is, quite possibly, the most cosmopolitan city in the world.
The atmosphere isn't great anywhere for immigrants, refugees, and minorities at the moment though. It'll be hard getting in, and it'll be hard to stay, as the government is really cracking down on the numbers who are allowed in. And you've got right-wingers doing their thing.

As my only real experience is here in London, I can only tell you what it's like here. If you have any specific questions about London, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.

As for how long it would take to find a job like what you say, it's hard to say. I can't really help you there. I know the cleaners at my uni are outsourced and pretty much all of them are foreigners. The cleaners at my school when I was yet at school were also foreign, though I don't know if they were outsourced or not - I don't think they were.

As for groups of people known to be dangerous...I wouldn't say there are any dangerous 'groups' per se. There are areas with higher crime rates than others though. @Frettzo I can't claim to be an expert on the UK, but I can say you'll be at a significant advantage for being fluent in English and wanting to work. As I understand it, much of the right wing poopooing about migrants is towards the economic refugees from northern Africa posing as Syrians and other Salafist Muslim migrants who are forming enclave communities and not integrating into British culture so well. In contrast, there are loads of Sikhs and European migrants who most people seem to be fine with. Then again, I'm not from the UK. I could be completing misreading the situation.

If there's a UK consulate in or around your country still, it may be worth contacting them to get information on the immigration process. If you are moving because of the danger, I would explore the option of immigrating as an asylum seeker. As I understand it, they have an easier time getting into certain countries. Ask about that if you can.

The above advice is just from second/third-hand accounts, though. The only absolutely solid do-not-ignore advice I can give you is have your passport and identification! Not being able to prove your identity and country of origin is what puts most people in immigration limbo, at least when coming to my country.

I'm a British citizen, thanks to my Father being born in the UK ;) So I don't believe I might have as much of a hard time as non-citizens. I may be wrong, though.

As for London, I did visit a couple times when things were better. Everything's really orderly, I loved it. Especially how the buses are always on time. How the heck do they manage to time everything so well??

I don't mind working. In fact I actually love working, as long as it provides enough for me to live, which is something I can't say about my current situation. One needs about 5 full time jobs in order to live somewhat comfortably.

@Frettzo If you're a British citizen then you should have no issues at all, book your flight and get away.
If that's not possible, get to any consulate/embassy of an EU member-state and they should be able to help you if you feel endangered. As the UK is still in the EU, any member-state consulate/embassy is a British consulate/embassy as far as you're concerned.

From what I heard the clocks at the stops are linked to the proximity of the bus. If the bus is late the clock slows down and if it's ahead of time the clock speeds up to compensate.

EDIT: I thought I would bodge together a wiki page for Clockdog the clockwork dog (made by Kinesis and Conata ages back). Then I realised I would either have to make yet another infobox template or learn how to create one inline.

*eye twitches* There's gears that don't go to anything, and don't serve a purpose. The beast is a monster of inefficiency and waste for the sake of aesthetics. The background is even worse. Bottom left arrangement is driver pahl reverser, great wheel (FOR A FUCKING CLOCK), th wheel, second wheel, driver pahl reverser. Oh, and not a single of leaves or microbearings, anywhere. Its like Salvador Dali designed this blue print.

The top right is an utter travesty. Balance Wheel (THOSE AREN'T TEETH, THEY'RE ADJUSTMENT SCREWS), Ratchet Wheel, and a multiplying system speed adjustment ratchet wheel. Each piece is in an uttery different CONTINENT of the goddamn watch. Since we're just gonna work with IMPOSSIBLE FANTASY, I guess my pen is now a lightsaber!

I imagine that everything else I'd planned will be cut. I only anticipate myself making 3-4 more posts and to get through everything that I need, it'll be pretty tight.

I don't want to cut too much. If there's a 'fail forward' situation for Xos, it can probably be done. Besides, Toun doesn't have to track down Xos instantly. He'll be on the hunt. That in itself can be its own substory.
