I've just realized that in all the 9 years I've been part of this site, I've never had to change my name, make an alt account or anything like that!

Bast Ragoczy

"Well... That didn't go as expected." Bast said with a chuckle as the heat finally went down after a good deal of time hiding. It was unfortunate that he wouldn't be able to see how things would end but it was not like it was the first time Bast's plans had... well... taken an 'unexpected turn'.

"Please, don't blame yourself, my dear. Not everything goes exactly according to the plan." Bast said, smiling to Eilidh.

"After all, if everything always went according to the plan, things wouldn't be so interesting now, would them?" He asked, with a mischievous smirk to Eilidh.

But before Bast could say anything more or before they could go back to the guild, Eilidh seemed that she had something important to tell him. With gentle, golden glow of the sunset light bathing her, Eilidh turned to Bast, saying that she wouldn't be able to go back to the guild. Despite his surprise, Bast understood her words. She was a free spirit, being in one place for too long wasn't exactly her style. Coincidentally, Bast himself was somewhat similar. But the biggest surprise was yet to come. Hesitating for a bit, Eilidh finally said, with her eyes fixed on his, that she wanted him to go with her. Bast could see that saying all that so suddenly was being hard for Eilidh, especially when she said that she would understand if he rejected her offer, as she herself couldn't offer them everything that Bartholomew was offering them.

Much to Eilidh's surprise though, after a brief moment, Bast let out a heartily laughter, before he gently took Eilidh's hands on his, looking to her with a warm and kind smile.

"My dear Eilidh, how can you expect me to reject you when you look at me like that?" he said, laughing.

"I understand you. I am as much of a free spirit as you are, my dear. But if you really want me by your side, I do think you need to know a few things about myself first." Bast said, looking at Eilidh with a serious expression.

"Marquis de Montferrat, Comte Bellamarre, Chevalier Schoening, Count Weldon, Comte Soltikoff, Graf Tzarogy... Those were only a few of the names I've had through my life. I've been many different people. From counts, marquis and other noble positions to strategists and sometimes... just a regular adventurer..." he said, winking to her with a mischievous smirk.

"I've travelled many places in search not only of knowledge, both regarding magic, the unknown, the 'taboo' and the occult, but science, art and literature as well. I've been with kings, scholars, sages and adventurers... Yet, I still feel like a small child seeing how many things I still have to experience and know. About the world itself, about the magic behind it and even about the different races and the people that live on it." he said, looking to Eilidh.

"I've did many things through my long life, Eilidh. Not all of them were pretty. I am a powerful mage. I've studied things that are considered forbidden and even 'taboo'. I saw things that should completely stripped me of my sanity and destroyed my mind. Even today, I still don't know how I've managed to keep my sanity. The key point is: Not everyone saw this warm and kind smile I always show to you. After one has seen and experienced so many things as I did, we start... changing. What we see as 'right' and 'wrong' and even our morals." He continued, his expression becoming a tad bit darker as he said such things. It was clear was Bast was trying to say. His hands were more stained with blood than Eilidh imagined and his code of morals wasn't exactly... normal.

"For a long time, I've lived as a ghost. Nobody knew as much about me as you do, Eilidh... And there is still so many other things you should know about me..." he continued, looking to Eilidh's eyes with a kind expression.

"But for you, my dear, I would gladly show you everything. All my secrets, all my 'lives', everything I am and ever was. You need but to ask." Bast said, gently caressing Eilidh's hair as he said those words.

Giving a step back, he pulled a strange tarot card from inside of his coat, showing it to Eilidh. That card, even to the untrained eye of those who weren't familiar with magic had a strong magic power. On said card, Eilidh could read the words: 'The Magician' written underneath a stylized drawing of a mage.

As Bast let go of the card, it started to float in front of them. From the card, powerful waves of magic started to emanate, creating a wave effect on the air around it, almost as if it's magic was creating ripples on the reality itself. After a few seconds, a portal, dark as the night sky sprinkled with bright stars appeared in front of the two.

"Regarding you being worried about not being able to offer me what Bartholomew does..." Bast said, as he extended the tip of his cane, touching the black portal in front of them, making the image of a small castle appear in the other end.

"I didn't join for the money..." he said, laughing.

"Oh, please don't mind the mess... I don't exactly 'live' there. It's more of a... warehouse for my stuff and a place for me to hide from time to time." he said, with an awkward smile. Just as he said though, looking a bit better at it, the castle was in the middle of nowhere. There was no city, road or anything at all nearby that castle. It was just a solitary small castle on top of a hill.

"Come with me, Eilidh." he said, extending his hand to her.

"If after knowing me, seeing everything I really am, you still want me by your side, I can promise I'll never abandon you." he finished, with a serious expression to Eilidh.

"It doesn't matter how many names I used, how many different people I was and how many lives I lived. For you, I will always be your Bast, Eilidh." He said, his serious expression turning into a really kind and warm smile.

It was indeed too much to take in and process in such a short time and it probably was quite a shocking surprise for Eilidh to know that she knew almost nothing regarding Bast. But despite the shocking news and any doubts she might have regarding who Bast truly was, Eilidh would certainly know if she looked on his eyes that, despite all that Bast said, the things that he shown her, the smile he always gave her and his feelings for her were definitely real.

Freyr

With Talia and Haley going to cook the dinner as the others rested after a long day, everything was going fine, until Bartholomew showed up that is. Freyr couldn't say he knew Bartholomew that well, but he wasn't prepared for Bartholomew's words. Freyr would never had expected he would react like he was about to. Instead of a welcome and being worried by them taking a dangerous quest in order to get more money for the guild, Bartholomew's voice was full of venom when he showed himself, asking if they really undertook a Varjan quest.

Bartholomew's screams echoed through the guild hall, the venom on his voice was apparent as he shouted not only to Neil, but to the others as well. Before that day, Freyr always thought that Bartholomew was different from the other humans he met, but what he was hearing on Bartholomew's voice was something very familiar to him... Something he had seen before... Arrogance, rage and a destructive behavior... Despite his attempts to hide it, he was exactly like the other humans were.

As the shouting continued, Freyr's expression went from surprised to serious and disappointed, ending with a heavy sigh when he finally said that he was the master and who didn't liked it could as well go away. All the hate in his voice was directed not only to Neil, but to all the others, going as far as to insult Haley in particular when she tried to calm him down. As the hostility between Bartholomew and the others kept rising as they rushed to defend Haley and each other, Freyr only grew even more disappointed.

At that moment, he couldn't help but to think that the other Viera were indeed correct regarding everything they said about the others who lived outside the big Vieran Woods. He never should have left it...

As the other members of the guild continued to argue, some saying that they did indeed break a rule that Bartholomew had said and others saying that they put themselves in danger for the good of the guild, while others shouted even louder, letting their own rage overflow, Freyr simply kept quiet.

Amongst the chaos, with most of the guild members distracted by what was happening, Freyr simply turned his back and headed towards the exit with silent steps and with a disappointed, almost sad expression on his face. With all that chaos, it was very unlikely that anyone would notice Freyr, especially given how silent and quiet he always was. Those who did though, would certainly know that he wasn't going outside to simply take a breather. If nobody tried to hold him back, it was certain that they would never see him again given the expression he had on his face.

Mikhail simply observed as both Fatima and the white haired female worked in the kitchen, most likely doing something for Faeril for when she woke up. Despite being surrounded by strangers in a strange house and a clearly... less than friendly atmosphere going on, as the time passed, Mikhail's posture started getting a bit more... relaxed and comfortable. Even though it was just a tiny bit, his stare wasn't as cold and penetrating anymore. Still sharp, but it was a bit more... friendly. Maybe it was Fatima's kindness and cheerfulness, or maybe how she mentioned he was her 'friend' but it was clear that something was making him feel more comfortable, going as far as to make him let out a discreet smirk and chuckle when Gen plucked the kitchen utensils from Fatima's hands, claiming the kitchen as his territory.

Apparently, much for everyone's luck, the scene that had just happened with Gen and Fatima seemed to lighten up the mood a lot, making even the other warriors who were incredibly hostile just a moment before laugh. When one of the Eyrien brothers explained their relationship with Faeril, despite not being that unlikely, something made Mikhail feel that there was a bit more happening there than just old family friends. He didn't know exactly what or who was the central piece for that puzzle though.

"It doesn't matter anyways... At least not for now..." Mikhail thought to himself, forcing his mind to be a bit more at ease. That cheerful atmosphere was indeed cozy and almost... homely. Despite what could be happening behind the scenes, those who were living on that house really looked like a family.

Slowly but surely, the delicious smell of herbs and food was starting to fill the kitchen again. In contrast with the smell of burnt pancakes and the tense atmosphere from a moment ago, it was certainly a welcome smell.

"The smell... its delicious." Mikhail commented in a rather low voice with a discreet smile.

Ashkevron Residence in Askavi

When the other warlord appeared on the kitchen, Mikhail thought that the situation that happened a while ago would repeat itself, but fortunately for everyone in the room, this new warlord seemed to be think more with his brains and less with his muscles. His appearance was a clear indication that he had just woken up and other than a brief stare towards Mikhail and the other two newcomers, he did nothing more. That was until he opened his mouth...

After seeing the cold and penetrating look Mikhail gave to Belor, he said that it would be better to hear instead of Mikhail trying to turn others to ice. Despite his small joke, Mikhail could feel the veiled threat on his tone and especially the last statement, when he said that Faeril did that with an efficacy he couldn't match.

Mikhail's eyes didn't change. The tension was still in the air, especially with one more warlord appearing on the kitchen. Mikhail didn't know if there were more or if he was the last one, but things were starting to get dangerous for him. Despite his prowess, abilities and his experience in killing, he was still just one guy. And fighting against many warlords without the element of surprise wasn't something that Mikhail would try. He never liked in leaving things on Lady Luck's hands.

Surprisingly enough, Fatima's presence there seemed to have an extremely effective calming aura. Her calm, warm smile and her soothing voice discouraged any hostile intention others could have when looking at her. According to Fatima's words as she left Mikhail's side to greet the warlord who had just woken up, Gen, there was another male sleeping in that house. Lucivar. By the way she was talking about him though, it sounded that he was much more reasonable than the other ones.

When she walked towards Mikhail again, presenting him as a 'friend', he couldn't help but let out a discreet smile and a chuckle. It was still strange to hear that word being said so casually by Fatima. He wondered if she would still use it if she knew what he did as a job.

When they finally got back to the kitchen again, much to Fatima's surprise, someone had already taken care of the burnt pancake, going as far as to clear everything. After expressing her surprise with that, she asked everyone to sit down and wait for the breakfast with the same energy and kindness on her voice.

It was admirable how she was dealing with that situation. Even with such a heavy atmosphere and tension in the air, she not even once lost the smile in her face or raised her voice. Sitting down as far as he could from the other warlords and as near as he could from Fatima, Mikhail simply observed in silence. Even though Faeril seemed to hold more authority than Fatima on that house, Fatima was still really respected and if she didn't want a fight, it was highly unlikely it would happen... After all... if she wasn't there, Mikhail was certain that the other warlords and himself would be already fighting...

Annika wasn't surprised when Garsin showed to have exactly the same worries as her regarding that mission. She could sense that something was weird regarding all that. Despite that feeling, they had no options other than accepting that mission. After she mentioned about the dress she was wearing though, Garsin couldn't hold himself and started to laugh, making Annika look at him, pouting with a surprisingly adorable annoyed expression. But despite his laughter, he did have some good points. It would indeed be really suspicious for them just to show themselves there, without knowing anyone. There was also the possibility of their mere presence there, asking questions would put the culprit on guard.

When he mentioned going to bars and inns around the town to search for intel, Annika couldn't help but think that it would be undoubtedly hard to find that type of Intel on mere bars. They were dealing with power struggles and politics. Those weren't the type of things people would discuss on bars...

"We..." Annika started to say, hesitating for a second.

"We will stand out a lot going to bars in such formal and fancy clothes... I would prefer much more to be wearing the clothes I always wear..." She said, still feeling uncomfortable using that dress.

"I also don't think that the people that go to bars are the type of people that are interested in politics and power struggles..." Annika said, in a low tone.

When they finally arrived on the scale district, things turned out to be exactly as she had murmured a while ago. The general populace seemed to be much more interested in the deeds of the 'Swords of Valor' group than politics. They would have a hard time finding any meaningful information around there.

Despite her silence, it was incredibly clear by her expression what she wanted to say. 'I told you' were the words that were almost written in her face when she looked to Garsin.

They were already there though and as such, they should try to search for any information worth noting.

Inside the Drowned Dragon, the bar that they choose to go in first, despite being still a bit empty, with most of the clients still arriving for lunch, there was a couple of people that clearly stood out from the rest, such as a mage on the far back and the man with a military garb.

Between both of them, at least on Annika's opinion, the one that had the better chance to have some good information was the military guy.

Discreetly pulling Garsin's sleeve, she pointed towards the man with the military garb, nodding her head, silently saying that they should probably start with him.

But the hardest part was yet to come. Even though Annika had the 'target' on her sights... What would they do? Simply go to where the man was and just ask him a lot of questions, revealing themselves and possibly their intentions?

She was a sniper and a scout, not a detective. Only if they knew who their target was, studying his schedule to find a perfect moment to kill him was much easier than that.

Looking to Garsin, the confusion was clear on her face as she waited for him to say or do anything.
Bast Ragoczy

"Well... That will make things just a tiny bit complicated..." Bast sighed after he realized that he was being watched and hearing the boy screaming about a strange on the backyard, followed shortly by Eilidh calling his name, stating that obviously things were starting to go wrong.

Bast quickly finished the protection circle before he started hearing the sound of the guards running to the garden. In just a few minutes, the garden would be in flames and he wasn't really in the mood to fight against those guards. Without a second to lose, Bast ran away from the garden to the street outside. As soon as he got there, he saw Eilidh.

"It would be a smart decision to run now." he said, gently taking her hand and pulling her away towards a small, dim lit street in the back of the mansion.

"We can hide ourselves in one of those dark alleys, at least until they stop searching for us." Bast said, as he continued to run. While Bast was really curious about the 'bad news' Eilidh mentioned, he could wait at least when they were already hiding to ask her.

Freyr

Finally arriving at the guild, Freyr was greeted with a rather strange scene. Talia was getting out of the gigantic hole on the side of the guild, but the strange part was that she looked almost like she was attacked by something judging by her clothes and her expression.
Neil was the first to ask what happened. Upon hearing from Talia that the one who tackled her was the newcomer girl, the one that was wearing an armor, Freyr got even more confused. Not only he didn't understand what was happening, but he also made no idea why she would have a reason to attack Talia.

"Did I... Miss something?" Freyr asked, looking to Talia and Neil, confused.

"Oh, yes. Regarding the quest, luckily, everything ended up fine. Nobody got hurt despite things not going exactly as we planned..." Freyr replied after Talia completely changed the subject, asking them about their mission.

"At least everyone is fine... We should keep our eyes open though... We're definitely going to attract a bit of attention from the Varjans after this mission." Freyr reminded, sighing after he heard what Yang said.

"Especially you, Yang... You should be careful now that they know who you are..." Freyr said, looking to Yang, before she tapped on his shoulder, going inside, probably to train a bit more.

"You should rest a bit. Don't overexert yourself." Freyr said before she entered through the gigantic hole.

Not everything was bad though. Just like Nagare had mentioned, despite everyone being fine and nobody getting hurt, after that mission they finally would have enough money to pay for the hole. That statement made Freyr smile a bit. Hard times might be coming for the guild now that they would probably start attracting a bit of attention from Varjo, but for now, everything was fine.

When Nagare called his name though, Freyr turned to her, curious. When she bowed down, personally thanking him for protecting her, he couldn't help but let out a kind smile towards her.

"You don't need to thank me. I said I would keep you safe before, didn't I?" he said, with a kind smile.

"I wouldn't let a guildmate get hurt without doing anything about it. So you don't need to be so formal about it." he concluded, still with a kind and warm smile towards her.

"It would be good for you to rest a bit too. The mission today was pretty tiring." He finished, looking to Nagare.
