He stood there frozen, but didn’t waver in his expression. Jay didn’t want to show any sign of fear of the mean blonde. He didn’t want to show that what she was saying actually got to him. Well, maybe not exactly what she said, but in the way she said it. Jay felt that kind of movement-freezing fear that could only be invoked by someone who believed every word that they were saying and then some. As sweat dripped down his arms, Jay felt the strong forcible push that the blonde did to him, moving him a half of a meter to the left, and turning his body in a counterclockwise position as he saw the blonde leave.

“Geez, that Stella has some nerve, coming into the party and ripping into you two like that. IT‘s her idiotic brother, Zeke, that caused all of this.” Vivian said, her face full of disgust for Stella as she spoke to Jay and

Jay looked over at Vivian and Delilah as they, along with everyone else, were looking at Stella leave the party. Jay couldn’t help but think about what she said and how she didn’t just threaten him, but promised Jay that she would make him regret ‘stepping on her’. Jay didn’t know what that meant exactly, but he didn’t have to. He knew that it wasn’t good.

Jay turned around, facing Clarissa, his eyes looking at her worryingly. “Are you alright?” He asked her, a comforting hand on her shoulder.

I try to use dull colors for exactly this reason, as I know how jarring it can be. Admittedly it’s more difficult on a forum that has dark gray as its general template. But it’s not hard at all to do given an HTML color code sheet is only a quick google search away.

9C4444 is better than red, 5076B3 is better than blue.

That's why I use goldenrod as compared to, say, yellow. It's easier on the eyes and not as eye-rapey.
