PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
It’s hard to place if Jackson is a slob intentionally or does it unknowingly. The fact remains that, despite awareness or not, Jackson looks, acts, and more importantly, presents himself as a slob. His dirty blonde hair is often unkempt. He maintains a tri-weekly routine of washing it and grooming it to his personal tastes. Aside from hair, Jackson has hazel-colored eyes. His skin is fair, if not with a slight tan shade to it. Hey, him being out in the sun is bound to get him some color, right?
Jackson maintains a fairly healthy diet. As such, his body is a temple. This means that there is a fair balance of fat and muscle; though the latter is more dominant than the former. When looked upon by eyes, it's clear as day that Jackson has an athletic, toned body that is proof of his martial arts background. It should be noted that he does have several scars, albeit some faded due to Father Time. He isn't very tall, either — well, if you consider six feet not very tall, that is. If not, then he is very tall. Accompanied with that, Jackson weighs within the 200-215 pound range. Yeah, he hasn't weighed himself in a while, so it's hard to pinpoint an exact weight number.
ATTIRE
When he was younger, Jackson had some very cringeworthy clothing. Back then, he was all about the weeb and emo style. Nowadays, he has a more refined fashion sense. You might catch him in a t-shirt with his favorite band logo on it every once in a while, but for the most part, he has a very manly, almost-rugged attire. In his closet are various t-shirts(some polos, buttonedup,), tank tops, various pairs of jeans and dress pants, and walking shoes. He does find himself in favor of comfort rather than style. That's just the kind of man that Jackson Drake is.
INNATE/OUTWARD PERSONALITY
First impressions are always important. They will make or break someone’s opinion of you. For Jackson Drake, more often than not, Jackson makes the wrong one on the wrong people. Those who could help him advance in his career always seem to see the bad side of Jackson - which coincides with how unlucky he has been in life.
He always seems to say the wrong thing at just the right time, and appears off-putting to those he’s trying to impress. He doesn’t do it on purpose, but it always appears that way. BEcause of that, he’s garnered a rather...unfortunate reputation of being the guy who can’t do anything right. He used to beat himself over it, but found it was better to beat other people. Ya know, selective blaming and all.
Jackson’s not a hard book to read. He’s a stubborn, unlucky, violence-enthusiastic idiot who prefers to talk with his fists rather than his mouth — it's gotten him to deep shit, so why use it? SOme might say he isn’t very bright either. And he might just be inclined to put a few right hooks in you if you dared to call him stupid. It’s not that it’s a trigger for him, but he is touchy when it comes to people insulting him. Perhaps it's him being too sensitive to critique, or maybe he knows it to be true, and doesn’t want others to read through his poker face. Whichever it is, Jackson will respond with violence before anything else could be said.
To those that are fortunate enough to see the lovable idiot behind the stupid idiot partial facade, they will know that Jackson is pretty much the same as he is on the outside, just without the aspect of punching everything that insults him. Quite frankly, he’s one of those people that has a big heart and has such a dork-like presence around his loved ones. His kindness is genuine and almost cliche at times. He’s definitely a dork all the way through. If you know this side of him, then you must mean a lot to Jackson. If not, then get to know him better!
HOBBIES/INTERESTS
Exercising and Body Conditioning | Jackson has a plethora of hobbies and interests that he does to bide his surprisingly large amount of free time that he has. The one that he spends most of the time doing is — well, as to be expected — is training. While there are various phases in which he does train(exercising, doing routine sets that he “feels” are right), they all coincide with the dominant aspect of his life — and that’s how he has spent almost two decades training in Capoeira . Ever since achieving his first black belt. He has since become a third-degree black belt.
Various Nerdom | Outside of his martial arts training/body conditioning, Jackson likes to indulge in a few...odd hobbies. The first of which is comic books and video games. Call it a form of meditation, Jackson loves it. Whether it’s Western or Eastern comic books and/or video games, Jackson is a lover of both. He has been a fan of that part of nerdom ever since his childhood. Safe to say it never got away from him.
Music | Jackson is also an avid music fan. Whether it’s a new and upcoming band/artist or simply one of his favorite, already-established bands/artists, he’ll go out of his way to see them. Sometimes it’s not exactly the legal way, but Jackson is all about bending the rules - even if just slightly.
SKILLS/TALENTS
Street Smart but not Book Smart | Jackson may not be able to read a map or tell you the results of complex science experiments with an in-depth explanation, but he can tell you what the word on the street is, and what places to avoid and which you can’t avoid. He can direct you to a dealer that won’t shoot you for not having enough money. He can also appear to be very knowledgeable of the happenings around Baybridge due to a vast network of associates that he’s gathered contacts in and out of the slums.
Capoeira | Jackson spent about seven years traveling abroad in Brazil. While there, he studied under a Capoeira master by the name of Luis Ramos, who happened to take a liking to a then-fresh-outta-high-school Jackson. He liked his spunk, so because of that, he took Jackson under his wing, and taught him how to refine his raw fighting talents. Combined with Jackson's endless energy, he was able to pick it up quickly, and before he knew it, Jackson grew quite efficient in utilizing it with an improvised style unique to him. He learned to use it while combining it with aeiral maneuvers, and various twist and turns.
While he didn’t opt for a career in some government agency, he did keep up with it after he left Brazil. Daily, Jackson trains, never rusty in his form. He continuously improves his stances, but also incorporating new ones that he tests out. Some work and some don’t.
Jackson’s rank in capoeira has been acknowledged by various masters as a first-degree Mastre. The proof of this are the white and green belts he wears whenever he takes part in underground fight club matches.
GOALS/MOTIVATIONS
Jackson has experienced great tragedy. And after a lot journey in solitude, he returned to Baybridge only to find out that the one person that was like a brother to him has gone missing. If there’s anything he’s totally motivated in doing, it’s to find his brother from another mother. He will do it at any cost.
HISTORY/BIO
Jackson was born in Baybridge. He grew up in New Raygate. And he came from a broken home. Both of his parents were addicts of some form. His father was a drug addict(crystal meth) and his mother preferred pain meds(oxycodone and vicodin). Thankfully he was an only child. Still to this day, Jinxed Jackson still doesn’t understand how he was able to be put in foster care before he died from their negligence, but he did. Not long after he turned ten, he was put into the system.
And about a year or so, he bounced from one home to another until a decent family picked him up. He was uprooted to Verthaven. They were a nice couple. A man and woman in their late-20s. They were good to him. The man was Theodore Raine and his wife was Sasha Raine. Both Metahumans. Theodore has been categorized as a Cerebral Extra-Sensory Class, who had the ability of Enhanced Eyesight, and Sasha was also a Cerebral Extra-Sensory Class. Her ability was Telekinesis. Both of them worked for NEST.
Throughout his life, Jackson was a rowdy kid. He was always getting into little scrapes and brawls here and there. Some of them were severe. Like this one time he got into a fight with the neighborhood bully Albert Peppers. They called him Big Al, on account on the fact that he was wide like a ball, but had enormous strength for a kid two years older than ten-year-old Jackson. They had a few encounters, mainly Big Al going after Jackson because of his strawberry blonde hair. Another couple times were because Jackson “looked” at him the wrong way. The actual truth was that Big Al saw Jackson, and assumed something that wasn’t true. In their fights, Big Al dominated frail, small Jackson. The preteen(at the time) would come home bruised. And each time, he wouldn’t say who did it, only that he would get them next time. And each time, he came back bruised. It came to the point where Theodore enrolled his son in martial arts. To him, if he was going to get into fights he needed to know how to defend himself.
And so Jackson started to take lessons at a local Capoeira dojo. It was taught by a family friend of the Raine’s. Jackson had one other sibling student by the name of Levi Dobson. He was the same age as Jackson and of equal size, so everything that Jackson learned, he learned. Only, JAckson was far weaker and prone to anger than Levi was. It also took JAckson a while to get the nicks and crannies of the style down before he became effective in it.
Almost a full year studying, Jackson achieved a decent amount of skill under his “mastre”. In the year that had passed, he and Levi had grown close - so close that they were best friends; always getting into trouble. Levi ended up helping Jackson out of encounters with Big
Al.In that year, Jackson and Levi were inseparable.
Years later, Jackson and Levi were both well into their late-teens(18 years old), and ended up becoming the best of friends. They were like Beavis and Butthead. One was never without the other for too long. They thought alike, so they often got into the same sticky situations together. Best bros, after all, don’t leave a man behind.
Around the time that the VErthaven disaster happened, Jackson and Levi were out of Verthaven with friends. They had decided to ditch school, and maybe go to mexico for some partying. They had missed out on the greatest tragedy to ever befall on California. When Jackson returned with his friends, it was revealed to him through a series of relatives that Jackson’s adoptive parents had died in battle with something called “The Devil”. The detailed were pretty vague at the time - and especially so in current time for Jackson - but Jackson was so distraught that he couldn’t really deal with it. To him, they were his parents. They weren’t his adopted parents, but they were the ones who took him from a hellish foster care system, and gave him a home that he could actually be proud of calling home. For nearly ten years, they gave him a place where he was able to go without worry of his life.
And while he was busy partying it up with some Mexican sluts, his parents were fighting the good fight. What kind of man was Jackson if he couldn’t even be there for his parents? What a pathetic fool he was.
Jackson beat himself up for a long time. He shut himself down from anyone who tried to get him to go with them to social gatherings, or just to talk to them. Even Levi couldn’t get through to him - which made what Jackson did next a shock to everyone that knew him.
One night - assumingly just after he buried both of his parents - Jackson made an impulsive, in-the-moment decision to pack up what he could in his maroon duffle bag, and bought a one-way ticket to Brazil. He needed to get away, and he always did want to go to Brazil.
As the years went on, Jackson went just about everywhere he could. He traveled as a nomad, going place to place, seeking what he thought the next place would: inner-peace and answers about the many questions he found himself asking. But, every place he would visit, be it the year he spent abroad in the Amazon or some of the various mountain ranges and national parks throughout the country. It wasn’t until he came across the region of Pernambuco that he was able to get on the right track of his self-rediscovery journey. There, in the place where Capoeira originated from, Jackson, through some twist and turns from locals, came to the direction of a small village-like community known simply as Palmares. There, the people heard his story, and heard how broken he sounded. Because of that, he found a temporary residence in the village.
And for five years, Jackson lived among them, figuring out who exactly he was, able to cope with his parents death, become more efficient with capoeira, and more importantly, he stopped blaming himself for his parents’ death. After he learned all that he could, even though it saddened him - especially since he had met someone truly special by the name of Sophia - Jackson felt a tug in a different direction. And, perhaps, another reason why, was that something happened to him that he couldn’t quite explain, and being in Brazil, where there was a strong presence of “strange is bad”, it was best to get the hell out of dodge.
Long before he knew it, Jackson had made it back to the states. When he returned, he found himself returning to Verthaven. He had a few things to do. One, he wanted to visit the graves of his parents. He wanted to tell them where he had been, what had happened to him, and how he found his calling. After he would do that, Jackson felt he had to go see Levi.
And when Jackson would seek out Levi, he found out from Levi’s parents that Levi had moved to Baybridge about two years ago, and had accepted a job working for an organization named DOVE. One could assume that Jackson was taken aback by this news, but he shrugged at it. To him, he knew where Levi was, and he needed to tell Levi pretty much everything that happened to him. There was so much he wanted to tell him. But to do that, it seemed Jackson was going to go back to Baybridge. After what seemed like almost two decades, he couldn’t believe that he was going back.
Oh well. He didn’t have much as far as belongings - only the dufflebag of clothes and a couple of electronics.
As Jackson had returned, it seemed not much had changed. Baybridge was just as divided as he remember reading up about it. Some shifts in government here and there, and some areas expanded while some have been left forgotten, but it was pretty much the same Baybridge that he remembered living in(somewhat) when he was younger. When he did return, Jackson wondered if his junkie bio-parents were still alive. He did eventually check up on them, but not at first. Before he did anything, Jackson wanted to find Levi.
When Jackson went to go look for him, he went by DOVE headquarters, but there was no luck, which seemed to be Jackson’s flavor of love. So, he tried another day, and still nothing. He kept on going for a full week, but that it produced the same results. Jackson wasn’t a smart man, but even he knew something was up. But what could he do? There had to be someone out there that would be able to help him...

Jackson holds a deep disgust for both of his parents. First of all, they would rather get high than care about him. They never did write or try to get clean when the state took him away. Because of that, he has not tried to contact them. For all he knows they are dead. Or if they are alive, he just doesn't care enough to seek them out for any reason whatsoever.

Jackson and his [adopted] father had a rocky start, but when the ice was broken, he found himself very fond of Theodore. They grew to love and admire each other. Jackson saw him as the father that he wished Leonidas could have been. Still, he never saw Theodore as his "adopted" father. Well, he did at the beginning, but near the end, Jackson admired and respected the man that he was proud to call his father - which intensified the pain he felt when he died, and he blamed himself for it.

One could say that Jackson was a mommy's boy. He has a hard shell, but a soft inside. And Sasha knew that. She was kind and gentle when she needed to be and tough on him when the situation called for it. Because of that, she and Jackson hit it off right away. There was something deep and meaningful about their relationship. Jackson felt he could trust her right away. That's why it broke his heart when he couldn't save her nor Theodore when he should have been able to. For the longest time, he blamed himself for their deaths. How he would have given anything to be able to talk to them both one last time.

Jackson’s ability is one that coincides with his fiery spirit. Like him, his ability is a heated display of fire that travels along with his body movements. It is the second half of his Capoeira fighting style. Every time that he will kick or punch, an arc of fire follows it like a flowing stream of fire. When Jackson athletically twirls around, fire will surround him in the size of a mini-tornado, shielding him from harm. His mind wills the fire to go where he wants it to be and it to be harmful/harmless when he wants it to be.
As noted, Jackson’s ability is the second half of his capoeira.
LIMITS
Jackson may be able to generate the flames and summon them around him through an innate ability for it, he cannot manipulate them at will. It simply cannot be done at this stage. He can’t redirect them once they have been generated. If they are homed at something or someone, regardless if they are friend, foe, or a civilian building, Jackson’s unable to redirect the flames for he lacks complete control over them in that aspect.
There is also the issue of range to consider. Due to the flames being an extension of himself - or, more like his limbs - they can only extend so far until they dissolve into the air. At most, Jackson can extend them a yard in every direction around him.
Though Jackson shows promise in being able to manipulate the flames once released, he still has ways to go before he is perfect at it.
WEAKNESSES/DRAWBACKS
There are a few things that could render Jackson useless in a fight. The first, of course, being water. It is fire’s opposite, so bring that into play, and Jackson is more or less useless when it comes to his power. It will easily extinguish his flames, which will make it easier for any enemy he’s facing to take him out.
Another weakness is Jackson’s own fault. His temperament sometimes can be his own curse. He has the tendency to be hotheaded and not think rationally. Since fire is the element of passion and it reacts strongly to one’s own passion, it can be assumed that Jackson’s own emotions - if left to their own devices - will cause the fire to either be more erratic, like it’s natural, free-flowing form, or be so out of his control that not even the simplest of desires will cause it to obey Jackson’s commands.
It should be noted that Jackson’s own human energy levels plays a huge factor into how effectively he can use his power. Since it more or less revolves around his capoeira, one could assume that Jackson’s stamina and how long he can endure physical strain. Pretty much, the more intense the battle(usually with multiple opponents), the quicker his energy levels are drained, and thus the less effective his flames are. At most, Jackson can go continuously for about seven minutes before he feels the effects of fatigue.
Other:
- Jackson’s powers manifested sometime during his time in Brazil and might’ve been the reason he cut his time short.
- Jackson has a peculiar meditation practice in which he listens to screamo music while he tries to find his inner-zen.
- Jackson has a strong dislike for Green Tea. If you must give him tea, black or he’ll have a coffee.
- Jackson’s idea of a good time is taking part in local, underground MMA fights. That and gaming until daybreak.
- Jackson is left-handed and speaks German fluently.
- Jackson enjoys hard liquor. Tequila is his favorite of the hard liquor in the world.
