Also, Sebastian's body is still lying intact, and presumably alive, so a UGM member might wanna at least check on that. Unless they reeeaaally don't like him and don't care in which case carry on.
Aya gave the little girl's hand a reassuring squeeze before releasing her to Ann.
"I'm ok," she said to Jake. "You don't have to worry about me." It surprised her how easily the lie fell from her lips. And physically, she really was fine. She'd only retained a few bruises from Sebastian's rough handling and had been spared from the acid blood. But inside, everything tipped and turned, and Aya felt she was being pulled in every which way at once. Her breathing had at least somewhat calmed down, and her emotions were calm as a lake's surface. Aya wondered if this was what it was like to go into shock. Probably. She didn't even register that Cedric had just been murdered on live TV, continuing on and focusing only on getting somewhere safe.

you could pull a javert and have him born in a jail surrounded by the worst humanity has to offer and thus having a bleak view on the species as a whole. could be an interesting thing too because he could see himself as especially dirty what with being born in such filth while still on this crusade to cleanse people or whatever.

Aya slapped her hands over her ears and flinched when Jake's howl pierced the air. His meaning was clear, and he was right of course. Her cluttered mind, filled with so many new thoughts and feelings, could register that much at least. It was just a question if she could get her body to cooperate with her head. With the way she was shaking, Aya doubted she could even manage to stand, let alone run away.
But then Ann materialized in front of her, offering a hand to pull her up. Reaching up to take it, Aya struggled to her feet, only to almost collapse immediately after. But somehow she managed to stay up on her shaking legs. Head spinning at the movement, she brought a hand up to her temple, no doubt just smearing more blood around. Taking a step forward to test her footing, she was reassured to find she didn't fall over.
Aya looked over to the young girl who'd somehow managed to escape Sebastian's massacre (for a moment she found herself mildly disappointed – she thought she'd managed to get everyone unnecessary in the attack. Then she was horrified at the alien thought invading her mind). She tried to swallow but her throat was too dry. She took a few more steps forward and held a hand out to the girl.
"Come on, sweetheart," she managed to say, "We'll be ok, we just need to go." Aya knew she had no right to promise that when she knew for a fact she wasn't ok.
Ariadne was already heading away with Owlman's ruined body hanging over her slender shoulder, and Jake was already raring to go. That just left Camille and that hero, Spectrum. Aya knew Camille was filled with more pride than sense, but even she must've known how pointless recruitment would be if they were all dead.
Aya turned down to see Jake, looking to him for stability as she had done for the past week. Her eyes darted over his many burns, his bleeding mouth… had she done that? Was that her fault? Her mind was too turned around to make sense of anything. Squeezing her eyes shut against the thoughts, she shook her head and wiped at the tears that stained her face. Keeping her fingers curled tightly around the small girl's hand she opened her eyes again.
"It'll be ok," she repeated, more for herself than the little girl. With that she began following after Ariadne, as quickly as she could on her unsteady legs.

Only I know who they are so have no worries! I'll reveal who they are later! Also, FYI, I don't think we'll be going for an alien invasion! I think it's really cliché and I prefer some of our other plans!
