That's where most of the problems I expected were, mainly because a state shouldn't be capable of operating a carrier in general. I threw it in as an actual military vessel at the last moment for the hell of it, without really considering the sheer size making it literally invincible despite the intended lackluster complement. I'd originally planned for it to be a civilian vessel that rarely leaves port, I'll switch it to that, deflate the numbers, and maybe throw in a couple extra ironclads. Or just the North Carolina. Actually, I think I'll go with that. It fits better with the "It'll make you shit your pants but isn't capable of much else" idea behind the Commune Navy.
Going in like with what Dihn said, I too think it'd be much better to be used akin to Rivet City. You have a huge amount of space which could be used from everything to extra farming and living space, a place to put an obscene amount of defenses on or to be turned into a really kick ass capital building.
As for the "shit your pants" thing, I have an idea. Instead of using the Enterprise or a whole bunch of new ironclad, you could use a whole lot of faux-ironclads that are small ships either painted or have very, very thin layers of armor around them which could be produced in numbers. While they would no doubt be significantly weaker than just about any other ship (I would even go as far as to say most would be unarmed with naval weapons), the sheer numbers of the ships could cause people to shat themselves overboard.
I would, however, like to know just what sort of stuff I'm dealing with when it comes to the rest of my military. Do WWII-era tanks make sense? Should I only be using the very first tanks ever to be built? What about wood and canvas scout planes, nobody's even mentioned anything like that, but it seems like a pretty logical thing to use given the fact that people are capable of operating pickup trucks and frankentanks.
If people want to have biplanes and stuff, I'll allow it but that's going to have to be a majority vote.
My reasoning behind it is that its a lot easier for people to just repair a car engine and armor it up to make a frankentank from that then it is the build an entire aircraft from scratch more or less. Its easier to build/make a computer when you have the parts but its a lot harder to make a type writer with very little knowledge of how one works if that makes any sense.
As for the tanks, unless you want something like
steam tank from Warhammer FB with a giant engine in the back and some heavy armor in the front, you probably won't have one. In my opinion it might be best just to stick to frankentanks unless you literally want something like a massive landship with limited weapons and a fuel efficiency to make a T-model ford to look like a hybrid. That's also discounting everything Dihn said.
Altho there might be some work around if you want to something like a
tank from Metro and just have it be a steam powered thingy with some metal plates and a machine gun on rails.
The population was originally 1.6 or so, then 3.6, then it ended up here because I kept moving it around and nothing seemed right. Clock has a population of 6.3 million, while some nations have it at 3, others below two, I really didn't know where to put it. Given your comment, I'd guess putting it around three million would be preferable?
My pop is so high because literally everything between Pitts and Philly is basically farmland if its not mountains or a small town. The only thing of note in the middle of PA is the capital, Harrisburg. PA was once called the breadbasket of America you know. Plus I've already stated that starvation is a problem for the GCU.
