Sorry for my absence! A Volunteering position suddenly turned into a Volunteer Leadership position I was not expecting at all so things have been hectic.

Look at you posers, having to bang dragons or sell your soul for magic when you could just play a lute for some. Anyways, here's Wonderwall. - Bards

@Luna_Maria Random words from an old RP: Do not care about your posts.

This may sound bizarre and counter intuitive, but if your issue is that your perfectionism is leading towards writer's block, then stop caring so much about how long is has too be. Two well written paragraphs is always better than several meaningless fluff paragraphs. Care about the sum and not the parts. Care not about how people will see something short and say "oh that's bad" since at the end of the day, they aren't holding a gun to your head and saying you must write X amount or you are dead.

Lower your expectations and swallow your pride; hubris is the downfall of many things in life. RPing isn't about having quotas to fill on a timetable which is what you are making it out to be, its about just writing about fiction you find interesting. You're afraid of failing and afraid of writing something that will fail thus you don't write, you're fearing fear itself dear. Write whatever comes to your mind and post it without thinking. You cannot be afraid to make mistakes and fail since otherwise you will only ever stagnate and repeat the cycle. From my experience its always been better to trip over your toes a few times RPing and learn from it rather than being hung up on standards and not posting.

You will have good posts and you will have bad posts and sometimes you just need to make "sacrificial posts" where you do not care about what it is and just throw it out into the IC. If you are afraid of making mistakes then you will make nothing but mistakes.
I might do my variation of Dark Elves, the Pagan Elves.

They're basically Dark Wood Elves if I remember correctly?
Example NS here:

Updated OP with simple NS guide, like super simple. Might edit it later on when its not 1AM
@ClocktowerEchos
Very interested. Either Dwarfs, or some Teutonic/Crusader State analogue, though the latter might not be as interesting if there are no pre-existing alliances justified by being connected with other groups of the same religion.

EDIT: But note, never done nrp's before for I usually have the same fears as Ophidian so b-b-b-be gentle or some shit.

Welcome aboard! I'll make sure to get the lube or something.

@ClocktowerEchos
My hands are tied with other projects and I don't want to overburden myself, but I'll keep an eye on this just in case! Not sure how I feel about RPing 'in-universe' though.

The only real things I plan on fully keeping from Warhammer canon is the Warp and the Chaos Gods as well as the land masses, everything else is up to be changed.
@wxps350... You got a point. I'm amazed I didn't think of just explaining it like that >_<

I'd have to look at them again to refresh my memory but they could likely fit!
@ClocktowerEchosYour previous version allowed nations like my Mongorks who were nothing like the WHFB orcs.
This time it seems we adhere closer to the canon. I am not sure if a radical faction like mine would be viable here so for now it's not that likely I can re-join this NRP.
Either way, I wish the best for you and everyone who wishes to participate.

Thank you for bringing this up!

I AM allowing non canon races and factions actually. The use of canon Warhammer factions as a base is just to quicken the NS creation process. Players are still welcomed to create and fit in non-canon things as long as they cane make it somewhat plausible.

I won't be looking into writing out several thousand years of history and will likely be hand waving most of it beyond some of the more major parts of the canon lore so you don't have to say how they were a hidden force for several thousand years or something.
@Lauder@Willy Vereb@wxps350@SomeChap@Vocab@POOHEAD189@Aristo@Ophidian

Mentioning some people from the previous "version" of this NRP.
Hola gents
So originally I drafted up this whole big thing on explaining this. And then I went like "fuck it" and changed some things.

Keeping this short and sweet, I'm looking to make an NRP set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe but allowing to players to make changes to the canon. I'll try to explain this the best I can. You can play as the Empire of Sigmar but it can't be lead by Karl Franz or what not, but an unique character. You can change it so the Empire is a hereditary monarchy instead of an elected one. Have some other city instead of Altdorf be the capital. Add/Subtract/Change military units and cultural elements. Basically, if you think like that it should be good although I will still be looking at NSs to determine what would be possible to edit within the confines and boundaries. Stay logical, I don't want to see Orks being 9 stories tall with the ability to cast magic on par the greatest Elven mages.

Given this is Warhammer, there is an inevitable military lean. As such, that section of the NS soon to come™ will be divided much how it is on Tabletop; you have Core units which make up the bulk of your army, Elites which make up your more elite contingent (duh) and then your Rare units which are those things that are either ridiculously strong or expensive and thus have a very limited amount of. You'll also be able to have Hero and Lord tier-units leading the armies and acting as major POVs within your nation if you so choose. Named characters are a thing and you're free to fluff them up how you see fit. However, your army must have Strengths and Weakness which are to be laid out. Also, Naval things will likely be discouraged or kept extremely simple a la Dreadfleet style or something like that; not all that into naval warfare.

Currently I am thinking of having some overarching plot and the two currently in my mind are:

1) Storm of Chaos - From the Chaos Wastes and the frozen planes of Norsca, a new Everchosen has united the forces of darkness and seeks to damn the world. This would require someone to play as the Everchosen and have other players acting as subfactions (more on that in a minute) but it wouldn't happen right off the bat, there would be some build up.

2) Grand Order - All of the factions are organized how they are in Age of Sigmar with Grand Alliances of Order, Chaos, Destruction and Undead. This would pit "Grand Orders" against each other as I make up powerful artifacts and quests and shit. Honestly not quite too sure how to do this.

If you happen to have you own plot ideas, please do share!

Now, about subfactions, there's always the chance that more than one people want to play the same thing. Normally this would involve one person ending up with control of the entire race/faction/etc and the other having to do soemthing else. To counter act this, players can opt to be a subfaction within someone else's nation: a dutchy of Brettonia, an Elector Count of the Empire, another tribe of Greenskins, etc. People playing as a subfaction will mostly be able to use their liege's culture and military although they can have some difference. Ultimately, the one in charge of the main faction will be in charge of most of the lore and stuff behind it but the subfaction is at the end of the day, able to act independently. Like in Crusader Kings, two subfactions can go to war with each other without drawing the attention of the main faction unless the main faction wishes to join in but subfactions will automatically join their liege in any great conflicts in most cases, special cases do exist.

Claims List*
  • Clock - Brettonia, Pirates
  • Willy - Mongolian Uruks
  • wxps - Dark Elves
  • Andreyich - Dwarves or Crusaders/Tuetonics
  • Poohead - Dwarves or Lizardmen
  • Ezekeil - Wood Elves or Norse Elves

*NOTE: If someone claims a faction, then you can still also claim it, just talk it out with the other person.

In the essense of time, I will be implementing a streamlined NS skeleton and honestly will not care how long and fluffy as long as it gets your point across. You can use but a few lines or even bullet points if you so wish to, just get your important bits out of the way and submitted. You can put in more fluff and lore after its submitted and accepted.

I highly recommend checking out the Warhammer Armies Project for some factions in Warhammer that never really made it into Tabletop if you want ideas.

Derpy lil' NS thing.
REMINDER: You do not need a 5 page essay for each section to submit for approval; be laconic and terce for your first draft to submit to me and then bulk it up later or something.

NAME:
Take a guess

OVERVIEW:
Quick run down/summary of your nation, important points and who you are based on if at all and stuff.

RACE AND CULTURE:
What kind of people inhabit your lands? What are they like? Who do they worship? How do they normally act or are portrayed?

GOVERNMENT:
How are you lead and who leads you?

INDUSTRY:
Basically what technology do you have and whats your economic situation? Are you well off, stagnant,
don't use currency at all and just use sheep and insults to barter?

MAGIC:
What kind of magic do you people have access too? Use Warhammer Lores of Magic as a base, if you have anything custom, please do run it by me first.

MILITARY:
Putting the War in Warhammer; divide into Core, Elite and Rare, each on becoming more and more elite while also becoming more and more rare or expensive. Also put down Heroes, Lord and Name Characters if you want.

Example NS here:

Warhammer: A Realm Reborn

When the world burned and Chaos consumed all, all had been lost. The thousand of lost, desperate souls who kept on fighting until the world was torn asunder fought and died for nothing as their souls were sucked into the Warp, fodder and feed for the unending hunger of the Chaos Gods. Great Hosts of Daemons ran ramped across the lands, turning the very ground itself red and river black; they had finally won and now the world was their’s, rip for their own desires.

But those who died did not die in vein. In the final battles of the world, there were those whose acts would have otherwise be forever remembered in history if there was anyone left to remember it, whose names would never be forgotten if there where those who could still hear them and whose bravery and courage earned them a spot amongst the fleeting heavens with the Divines. And it was these heroes and gods who survived the ruination of the world they once knew and escaped to a new realm, one yet to be touched by Chaos or life. And it was here to which they breathed life back into the world and allowed civilizations they were a part of to be reborn again.

Chaos however, does not rest easy.

After generations of peace and order, the forces of Chaos found their way into this new realm and began to poison the world with their corruption. And while some scattered forces of other, less benevolent and peaceful beings found their way into this new realm and spread their own creations, none could do it like Chaos. Battles and wars were fought and waged as the new nations and races began to answer to the call of war like never before in this, Realm Reborn.

This is something of a reboot of an older RP called “Legacy” which was an NRP focused on the one thing everyone puts so much time into on an Nation Sheet: the Military section. Instead of simply having it as an addition, it will be very much the main focus and you will be expected to fight other players. So important is this that I’m opting for a much more streamlined NS format which places emphasis on the military section and allowing players to just bullet point or even skip some sections if they so wish to do so. Might as well go full on and indluge that martial aspect that comes with Nation RPs.

If you couldn’t tell, yes this is very much Warhammer Fantasy. Many of the world concepts such as magic, the Warp, Chaos Gods, etc are being lifted directly from WFB and you can play a “canon” nation so long as you rename some things around. Call it uncreative or cheap or whatever, but I believe its a decent way of speeding up the NS creation process where you don’t have to draw something up from scratch.

Some important notes:

1. You Cannot Win - There is no reward, there is no total domination of your enemy, there’s no some grand plan or quest; this is purely just to basically beat the shit out of each other. You cannot also “wipe out” someone else’s race or destroy their entire army in one fell swoop unless agreed upon earlier, “there will always be enough elves as the plot demands”.

2. Rule of Cool and Balance - RoC is definitely something in play, but I will be enforcing some semblance of balance and reason; I don’t want to see armies of flying full plate armored knights with holy flaming ultra great swords of brutal rectum ruination +99.

3. Plot Line - While I do have some ideas for a plot and I encourage everyone in the RP to discuss how to proceed with a plot line, your battles do not have to take place in the current time line. They can just as easily take place in the past which may be especially helpful if you want to have a battle with someone who is currently your “Ally”.

4. This will be LAND FOCUSED - I will not be implementing any sort of Naval combat and nor do I really want too. You are allowed to have ships and stuff and transport armies across oceans and stuff but I would like to discourage actually fighting on the sea. But you can have “sea units” be on the ocean (i.e. having marines in your army or an army being lead by someone whose normally a ship captain).

If you are interested, please do say what you are interested in playing especially if you are seeking to play something heavily based out of Warhammer canon. If two players wish to play the same faction, then I suggest that either a bargain is struck on who plays what, both play similar factions within a race (i.e. different greenskin tribes), or have one player be a vassal under the other player. In the latter case, you are not technically bound to do anything and it shouldn’t affect your ability to conduct battle with whoever you want. That said, it might be an interesting point in the future if I introduce any actual plot lines.

Claims (Put in order of most interested to least):
  • Clock - notBrettonia, notOrks

NS Example; You are allowed to use bullet points on some tabs if you so wish to expedite the process of creating a NS or just be very laconic.

Name:

Overview:
A short description of your people and what their ambitions are. Think of this as like the intro passage at the start of a wiki page or something. Where do you take inspiration from? Whats the major themes of your people?

Race and Culture:
What species forms the bulk of your population? What of their customs, traditions and art? What deities to they worship and gods they pray to? Perhaps they worship a god from the previous realm or a new one born in the ruins of the old or perhaps even the Chaos Gods themselves.

Government:

Magic:
What kind of magic does the majority of your wizard and mages employ provided your people can use magic? Warhammer tabletop spells will be used as will the lores but with slight potential name changes.

Military:

Core Units:
These will be what the majority of your armies will be made up of, ranging from simple militia to basic professional soldiers. They aren’t the flashiest of folk but they are your bread and butter.

Elite Units
Your more expensive and veteran/truly professional solders. This is the tier where calvary and artillery will show up.

Special Units
The finest fighters your people can muster, these units are undoubtedly small in number, expensive as hell and even rarer, but they the stuff of stories.

Heroes
Champions and paragons of warfare amongst your people, these individuals are renowned and skilled at their own arts be it the blade, bow or magic. They are basically lesser, weaker versions of Lords.

Lords
The leaders and generals of your people and armies, legendary in many regards, often boasting special skills, powers and equipment to mage their glorious status.
