It combos with certain other cards in the deck so well that they can usually, with only 5 cards on their first turn, make a field of monsters that would take anyone else 10-20 cards of resources and turns of time to make, if they even could. The card is an enabler for some infinite loop hocus pocus that puts the deck so far ahead of every other decks curve.

The Fabled cards used to do that too, but even if half of them weren't banned the Link system would render them useless. This stupid ass update to the game made any deck from Arc-V backwards practically unplayable unless it already relied on Monarch cards and no Extra. I remember there being decks that could get out three Shooting Quasars in the first turn with Fables.

The banlist isn't a only a tool for game balance, it's also for motivating players to buy new decks as the old ones become playable. I'm just glad Kozmo has gone as long as it has with only Dark Destroyer being limited.

If you're expecting to go against Spyral, if you have Double Helix and Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries you can shut down their deck. Maxx C also breaks Drone's affect.

If you don't already, Cyber Dragon Nova and Infinity (if they aren't banned) and Chimera-Overtech would be good to have. Alternatively, if you don't mind not using an Extra Deck now that they're utterly useless anyway with the Link system, some monarch support cards and Wiched Eraser could counter any swarm deck, SPYRAL included.

I had a perfect Chaos Dragons deck that used the Dragon-Lords and them getting banned dropped my win rate from 100% to around 30%. All the good chaos cards that could be in their place are either not dragons which ruins half the deck's supports, or are banned.

SPYRAL archetype. It's so broken that, as an example, out of the top 32 decks at a recent tournament, 27 of them were SPYRAL decks.

The best counters to it from what I've seen are a Full Crystal-Beast deck and a Perfect E-Heroes deck. You could probably get away with a Stardust Warriors too, if you choose some good Pendulums and have all the right Synchrons. Alternatively if you have a Sacred Beast or Gods deck with three Mound of the Bound Creators and March of the Monarchs you'd have a good shot. If Hazy Flame had more support it would be perfect but they only have enough cards for maybe half a deck. Artifacts would also do well if supported correctly. A mix of the three Six Samurai archetypes might be good too.

I may be going to a big Yugioh regional with some friends this Saturday, which concerns me slightly because the game's meta is absolutely jacked up right now. But I just want to put it out there for everyone while I'm thinking about it so you know where I am, and why I probably won't post.

The meta is ALWAYS fucked. They ban good cards the week after they come out and reallow cards that were banned years ago practically daily. They gave Red-Eyes a massive expansion and then banned two of the cards needed to run it, then did the same with Blue-Eyes. They banned the Dragon-Lord babies, then limited the Dragon-Lord adults, then banned the adults and legalized the babies, which are entirely useless without the adults.
The only still runnable decks are Sacred Beast, Exodia normal monsters, a much weakened Chaos Dragons, Sophia, Nekroz, or Odd-Eyes. MAYBE Q if they've changed the ban list recently. Elder Gods aren't even out yet in TCG and they're already half banned and the ultimate card that they all link to is already limited.

And before you even, we specifically discussed unicorn anatomy in the context of how they evolved. One of us thought there was a bone in the horn and one didn't, don't remember which of us had which position.

I have a theory about how the tourney is gonna go though. If they do it right, Goku gets his shining moment and seals a U7 victory with at least him, Vegeta, and Frieza still in the fight. While Goku is weak from the fight, he gets knocked out by Frieza, who wants the wish, which leaves Vegeta vs Frieza alone, finally the way it was meant to be.

It won't be. Either U6 is going to win because they have 2 to Jiren's 1, or it's going to be a tie with Vegeta vs Jiren both still in the fight but Vegeta barely standing. That's if anyone wins. The most likely scenario is that Goku gets knocked out and the Zenos either don't destroy U7 despite them losing or they stop the tournament because he lost. Likely then leading to the actual tournament where it'll come down to Goku v Vegeta in the semi-finals with Vegeta beating Frieza right before, and Goku finally beating Jiren in the finals or a double-knock out and nobody gets a wish because the Zenos like it so much that they scrap the universe destroying.
