@BrokenPromise from what I have seen the people involved are especially approachable and I know from my own experience that one in particular is approachable beyond reproach. So, really, that's not the case here, which makes things even worse, but beyond that I disagree with you entirely based on the premise that at the very least an attempt could be made. Avoidance of conflict or confrontation is not just cowardly, it's also dishonest and unfair to the other side, which in this case was entirely unwarranted. RP's fail all the time, this one is/was no difference (if it dies). So, why is this one worth bitching about in mass quantities and the others not?

And even more importantly, the fact that they are throwing shade in a thread that people might not look at (though in this case, someone did, though afaik not a GM) without approaching them just fuels the entire argument without really offering even the slimmer of a chance of dialogue. So, do we really want to be tough big adults and be mature about this or are we content being a little spoiled child?
@Prawn If the shoe fits my dude.
I think you just want to see some blood, sport.

I think some blood and a firm handshake afterwards is better than infinitely throwing shade in here without ever coming to a resolution, only coming to the conclusion that 'the other side is a retard and I'm mucho smart' but hey, what do I know. The real bother here is that people not involved with the given situation are commenting on it as though they were and are, behind the scenes, saying shit that I find to be pretty damn disrespectful - if you said them to their face, that'd earn so much more respect, but here we are.

I really wish some or y’all would confront people rather than throw shade in here all day. 🤔🤔

I role-play in casual a lot, so I think it is safe to presume I have a level of tolerance for genuine mistakes regarding grammar, fluidity, spelling, and formatting. I think for a user, you would have to be a very special type of English Major elitist if some genuine mistakes bother you so much you cannot participate in a story.

There is also still a difference between a 2 paragraph post (which by definition is the casual RP standard) with 2 genuine mistakes and a 2 paragraph post with 30 genuine mistakes. But I largely agree.
Yeah, a lot of people can't seem to enjoy things unless they are an absolute victor, which I can't understand.

I don't understand either - I RP to get away from real life and I'm an absolute victor all the time, so like, uhhh, why?
@SleepingSilence what the hell are you talking about. I’m thanking them personally for giving me info about hyphens and dashes because I’ve been using the latter incorrectly.

I am replying to them directly because I value their info enough (more than all your contributions to this thread, you passive aggressive whiny pre-teen) to warrant a more personal thank you as opposed to clicking a button. The fact you cannot comprehend this shows just how socially incompetent you are.

But please continue [@]ing me personally so you can insist you are right.
@SleepingSilence

Actually, you seem to be mistaking hyphens with em dashes there, are you not?

Hyphens (-) are used to join words but dashes (—) are indeed used for pauses —dramatic or not— in fact they are used for nigh full-stop pauses. And they certainly are valid in inter— interrupted sentences and stammering.

Most people just don't know how to type an em dash, and use the hyphen for everything. cutting them some slack in an non-professional environment doesn't seem too much for me. After all, decorating arcane keyboard shortcuts like Alt+1551 isn't something most people need to do.

Ultimately, em dashes aren't ruled the same rigid grammar as most other punctuation marks. More than anything else they are a stylistic choice. Pushing your style on others, or giving bad advice doesn't seem like a good thing to do to a community of writers.

Take a look at this: https://www.grammarly.com/blog/hyphens-and-dashes/

PS:

en dashes are weird. I don't like to use them, and don't even know how to type that. In any situation they could be useful, I think that a hyphen performes better.

thanks for this
holy shit
@Irredeemable I'm quite interested - and await an [@] when you are ready!
