vague tech knowledge based on being 60-70% metal will have to do I guess.
Ditto on the char situation. Thinking of doing someone related to the iron keep and it's construction, with some kind of metal generation or manipulation ability.
They were brought out of there muttering paranoia by the cryptic words of the skeletal oddity.

coward/tooth taker/target

They had little time to wrap their thoughts in circles around what the coward meant before the cages opened and the carnage began.

In the time it took them to run around at the outskirts of the melee to get their bearings and scope out the situation, two of Advents viper guards had been destroyed by the other combatants, most notably the human who retrieved a fang from the first killed to take out the second.

unfortunate losses/cease wasting time/fulfill mission

They looked around and located the coward some way of in the distance, they would need to scramble through the melee to reach them, fortunately they had no help while he had advent monstrosities to make the initial push for them. Their task was simple, make sure the flow’s martyr neither won nor died, their toxic body was relatively perfect for this, they could incapacitate them and then simply keep fighting around the area to make sure they weren't finished off in the meantime.

They took of from the edge through the advent hordes, dodging the fights going on between them and the armored Scalpaleon elite, taking a few moments to claw or stab with their legs at some exposed flesh, applying the neurotoxin and hopefully helping the others come out on top. Dodging past a fight between a great lion-esque man and a blind two headed horror they were finally confronted with a gladiator that had recently finished of its opponent and was looking for fresh meat. A human whose forearms and lower legs had been replaced with metal talons, their body covered in light armor, a belt with odd vials around their waist and wearing a plague doctor's mask leaped from the clawed and partially dissolved corpse of a gladiator.

defeat quickly/bypassed/hurry

There is a brief moment of stillness as the two of them squared off before the two clawed monsters engage in a battle, circling one another and occasionally darting in to try to slash at the softer areas of their opponent while the other quickly dodged out of the way. Then, having recognized that the battle would not be ended quickly the two engaged in a brutal hacking and stabbing, blows being parried, dodged or absorbed by their armor as struggled to end the others life for the delight of the crowd.

Finally the doctor tried to use one of their vials on Skitter, the jar cracking against one of their spines and showering their carapace with acid when she attempted to duck. However the lobbing action left the doctor exposed and as the acid ate at Skitter’s neck they get hold of the wrists of the doctor and came in to bite them in the throat,l ousting them into the air by their neck as she pumped them full of toxins.

The wound would not be completely fatal, the toxin paralyzing but also reduced the severity of wounds. Their master was rather pleased with the toxins ability to allow graphic finishers to the opponent and then to either charge ludicrous amounts for their revival or purchase them for a reasonable price.

a good acquisition/a waste of time/the mission 274

Skitter steps over the dying and paralyzed foe, trying to ignore the acid still burning at their neck, and headed off deeper into the carnage towards the coward.

I am kind of generally waiting for you to arrive along with the rest of our team. Our dysfunctional team won't be complete with Garrett's snark.
A world without a moon would probably be pretty pitch-black at night, so that might add to why it's such a big deal when night comes. On the other hand, having a moon lets us use the word 'moonlight' or 'moonrise' or what-have-you when a paragraph is oversaturated with 'night.'

on the topic of the moon and also a bit on religion

If you do have a moon its still only going to be in the sky over the night side for half its orbit. If it had earth's moon then you would have month long moon based day-like cycles. also the moon would go through its phases as it crossed the sky and what those are depends on the time of day. at nightfall the new moon rises and it sets full. at midnight it rises half, is full at the peak and then sets half again, finally at dawn it rises full and sets new. It gives a way to tell how close the dawn is. You could probably have moon cults that worship the moon that grow popular in the night and wane with the day. also some kind of festival when the full moon coincides with the moon being at the highest point of the sky, something a bit like Christmas/Hanukkah/new years or all the other half way through winter celebrations as a kind of moral booster for the people.
I really like this concept, it reminds me a bit of a combination of Helliconia and endless legend, though those are both season rather than day cycle based.

I'd say maybe a bit less emphasis on the idea of growing giant mushrooms at night, though, since hunger is definitely meant to be a significant factor in surviving the nights, and while a sensible farmer would probably try to farm things that grow in low light I'm probably going to handwave the farmers into being slightly less sensible.

the mushroom-idea could work quite will as an initial easing into the night so that the lack of food production problem scales at a similar rate to the monster situation(also, perhaps by coincidence, the monsters become less edible as the night goes on). There is after all only a limited amount of decaying material (either natural or food that has rotten since it's harvest) around and once that is used up they have to rely entirely on food stores.

also a few questions:

does the planet have a moon(if so how big?) or are the stars the only source of skylight at night?

what sort of technology level would the more advanced civilizations be at military technology wise? We talking plate mail armored knights and crossbows, roman legionaries or something in between?

heroes of days long past have begun to rise once more from their graves

Are the heroes undead looking as a result of this?
@Raijinslayer

Then again if they just move in somewhere who is going to be able to expel them?

"Hello police. There are brightly colored sentient rocks squatting next door, please send help"

Naija needs to get herself an education.

also, team 3, I made a thing. Team 1 gets artistic style, you get a really basic edit to make a problem sleuth meme

Naija

Lvl: 1
Day: 1
Location: Tetris Castle Briefing Room -> floor 49 -> Kingdom of Erion - Raganival
Speaking with: none
Mentions: Luigi@Bright_Ops, Hapu @ToadRopes, Edward Buck@Aether Spawn, Gordon Freeman@Hostile,
Mario @Holy Soldier, Fox McCloud@Etherean Fire,Garrett@Simple Unicycle
Seed deployed: None

Hapu’s explanation left Naija with more questions than answers frankly, but it did give her specific terms to investigate later. She hoped the castle had some kind of archive that she could use to get up to speed on all this land stuff. What she got out of it was Hapu was a kind of priest/guardian of a deity of their island and that Mudsdale was this guardian deity she was speaking on behalf of. Naija did not have good experiences with gods or priests, but she would give the women the benefit of the doubt for now, she seemed like a decent individual.

At this point Luigi whispered something in her ear that would probably lead to more embarrassing incidents if the meeting had not started with the expulsion of Quina Quen, which she would have spoken up about if she hadn’t been so busy being flustered.

The talk gave her something to focus on and her mood quickly shifted to a combination of appalled and frustrated, the 7 where the last survivors and the collective had little to no information about the greater foe. Naijas head was planted firmly on the table muttering about not ever knowing what she was getting into before livening up at the exposition of the location they were traveling to.

Demon kings and people sealed in crystal, magic rings and cauldrons of doom or rejuvenation. Demon was kind of an evil god and she had experience killing those. This seemed to be in her area of experiance, what was not was the fact that she was apparently the leader of a team. The closest experience she had to that was Li and a pet following her around while they adventure. The team also consisted of none of the people she had spoken to so far, apart from the brief introduction to Garrett. It also had Mario in it, who had forcibly inserted himself next to samus, much to the warriors distaste, that was going to be a handful.

The meeting came to its conclusion and they were ordered up to the 49th floor for something called a vaccine and to teleport to the kingdom of Erion, in her worrying about her new responsibility resulted in her arriving near the rear of the procession, just in time to see Hapu calm down her large earthy creature she called Mudsdale. Ah, so she had been wrong about that then, the creature had presumably been in her inventory at the meeting, like how she kept her helper pets in there when they were not in use, though the beast was certainly larger than any she had commanded.

What followed was a brief argument over why a person in a white coat was trying to stab her with a small metal object, followed by an explanation of what a vaccine was, another argument about how you can make a vaccine without having a sample of the thing you're protecting against, before she finally relented and accepted the dosage. Then there was the council's item policy as she was forced to trade out her stores of food for the odd seeds mentioned in the briefing that she was being given as team leader. Leaving the teleport room smelling of seafood she hopped through the portal and arrived in an area full of what she assumed where trees with a large stone structure looming in the distance.

She decided to find an elevated position to watch for her team's arrival and eventually settled for a large 5ft diameter bolder nearby which she promptly sat down on. Mario and Garrett she would recognize and wave to when they arrived but Fox and Gordon she would have to find once the whole group was here, or perhaps they might know the two who she knew already.

She would also need to introduce herself to the Squad leader Edward when he arrived. She believed she had heard him as the armored man who had initially taken responsibility for the food fight.
