Her eyes a milky white. Her nose sharp, cheeks soft and lips a thin pink. Her overall physical demeanor appears rather sickly although she would tell you she feels fine. Akaia's wardrobe is limited given her unusual lifestyle. A fashion statement favoring durability and wear just loose enough to remain comfortable while on the move. Her undergarments consist mostly of wrappings around the trunk of her body, arms and thighs that are then layered for warmth. A typical tunic and trousers held together with a leather strap and a shawl that is kept around her shoulders that can be pulled over her head to better conceal her physical qualities. In this way she can blend into a crowd if need be and when necessary, move quickly to escape danger. A pair of leather worn boots helps her move with some silence. p e r s o n a l i t y Although quiet, Akaia's lack of speak is not to be confused with being shy. She is naturally curious, always adventurous, constantly looking for the answer to a question or asking the question to an answer she's found. She's protective of the people around her, although a large part of that could be attributed to her being a Sidhe. Any awkwardness from an interaction is a result of a life forced upon a woman when she was young. Her asocial tendencies are that of an ignorant child that is eager to learn. Despite this and more importantly, despite her distinct outward appearance, her heart is that of gold, not unlike the flowers that adjourn her hair. s k i l l s Her main means of defense is her ability to camouflage. Additionally, the life-giving spores of her breath work unusually fast, even for a Sidhe. An accidental sneeze some years ago was a quick lesson on breath control lest she impale another unsuspecting soul. Akaia also finds herself particularly skilled at moving quickly and quietly. Having spent much of her youth in the forests between civilization, she's knowledgeable in the navigation of uncharted areas and the ability to traverse those areas safely. Akaia has the ability to mimic any noises, voices or sounds she can or has heard. A unique skill she picked up learning to communicate with a world as strange to her as she is to it. She also developed a coded language between herself and her crow in the form of various clicks and clucks. e q u i p m e n t A wooden staff standing at her shoulder. It's thin, light and durable. At one end, there is a flowering bulb of golden petals. If coaxed, it can emit a soft ambient warm hue for a duration. This bulb also doubles as a warning for Akaia. If the air becomes too contaminated, it will begin to shrivel, allowing Akaia enough time to don a mask before she suffers any adverse effects. Concealed within this staff is a blade a foot in length, the hilt of which is the bulbed end of the staff. When of good health, it is impossible to pull the blade out. However, when the wood is weakened in the presence of polluted air or Miasma, the blade can be drawn by snapping the wood where they're joined. Her gas mask is made of a sturdy flexible material that sits comfortably around her nose and mouth and creates an airtight seal. Not unlike the rest of her attire, the equipment and it's entire rig is lightweight but still durable. The mask is fed via a tube that loops around her waist and connects two cylinders roughly the size of a liter bottle. These are hung across her lower back by a leather sling and pulled tight against her body. If this connection should fail or the canisters are damaged, one of the filters on the mask itself is larger than the other and houses an emergency 'tank' of oxygen that is good for fifteen minutes. Additionally, only one of the tanks across her back is filled with a supply of clean oxygen. The other tank stores the spores from her breath. To prevent her influence on surrounding flora, Akaia will often don her mask when she intends to speak. Her mask function is then switched to allow air intake in one direction, thereby letting her breathe without wasting the oxygen in her tank. Any spores released by her during this time is caught and stored. Akaia is accompanied by a crow. It feeds on the blood beads she provides. w e a k n e s s Akaia is naturally non-combative, a quality made clear by the handicap provided by her staff. Besides a seldom used blade and the ability to sprout the end of her staff dangerously fast, she has little else to offer in a fight. Her speech is stunted thanks in large part to her early life. She spent her first years learning in the wild on her own before she was discovered and taken in. Though much improved, her verbal communication is limited to fragments, signs and gestures. She cannot legibly write but she can read and understand just as well as anyone else can. In addition to her speech, her odd upbringing also left her somewhat asocial. Most interpersonal interactions are awkward at best. h i s t o r y Akaia was brought into the fold 7 years ago by the Revenant Cerise as a result of a chance meeting between the two. As a young Sidhe only recently made alone and without clear direction, it was far too easy for her to decide to follow the odd girl after catching her on one of her many excursions. However, it didn't take long for the equally, if not more skilled Cerise to pick up on her tail and what followed was a rather short game of cat and mouse. Needless to say, Cerise made quick work of the stranger, but it didn't take long for the lost soul of a curious and genuine heart to win over a warm and empathetic one. A short, tense and awkward exchange later would leave Akaia with an invitation home and a near decades long friendship. She quickly fell into her role as the second scout. Whatever pockets of information about the surrounding area she didn't already know was filled in with Cerise's help and soon, the newest member was contributing rather than simply learning. In that time of growth, she developed her communication, both verbal and non-verbal and also taught those around her how to communicate with her through her crow. These days, she spends much of her time off base, exploring the world, seeing where it may need healing and attempting to remedy it. During her trips, she'll often pick up various bits and bobs along the way that are of import to others and will bring them back home. This can be anything from material for Lyssandra to a new flower for Cerise or even a peculiar looking pebble she thinks might look good on a mantle somewhere. If on the base, she'll often be in the company of a certain Revenant and a certain nosy crow.

A warmly lit smile graces Akaia's pale lips. A rare sight to behold from the Sidhe as she reminisces on memories cherished. "Share-rece." She nearly sings, placing a hand on her chest as the smooth syllables of the girl's name bounces around her. "She is my friend and is teaching me to use my words." The excitement under her tongue is difficult for her to hide but she manages. Still, behind the milk white of her eyes is an unmistakable glow of confidence and triumph as she finishes her sentence and begins another. "She is... warm. Pretty. Brave. Happy. My sister and... my hero." She then lifts a hand with the index finger pointed forward, her thumb toward the sky and the rest curled into her palm. "Bang!" Akaia points to herself. "She is me." She beings to explain, though the words are betrayed by the look in her eyes. Without elaborating further, she leaves to look around the room before quickly returning with two seeds in the palm of each hand. When she starts again, it's as if she's talking directly at them. "Pa-pee is the same. Pa-pee is different." Almost immediately the small pods react to her voice as a blade of green pushes through the surface on each. The sprout begins to twist into a stem that branches into several leaves as it continues to stretch toward a sky it cannot see. Roots break away in the opposite direction, crawling across and wrapping around the palm of her hands as they search for the ground. However, as the bud forms at the apex and begins to bloom, two distinct colors are revealed. "Same and different." She nods toward the flower of a deep blood red. "Pa-pee is beautiful. Smart. Mmm-..m-..." She pauses for a moment as she struggles to form a word she can see clearly in her mind's eye before resorting to habit. "'Medicine.' My friend and blood and..." "Pa-pee is sad. I want to help her but..." Her eyes become lost as she searches for an answer she hasn't yet found. "...What are we?" Without soil, the red and gold flowers in her hands quickly shrivel and die. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Akaia makes a fist with her hand with the thumb free and presses the thumb against her forehead. She then drops that hand over top of the other with the fingers of each forming an 'L'. "Ay-jacks. He is safe. He is strong. He is a warrior. She nods as if to agree with herself. "He has been here since the start. Him and Air-rik. The same. But different. Like Pa-pee and me." For a moment, her eyes begin to wander as if her wayward thoughts are getting away from her. The pale in her pupils become blank mirrors of contemplation as something she needs to say bubbles to the surface like an instinct, or in this case, the memory of a feeling. She holds her hand up again, this time her fingers cupped as if holding an invisible mug sideways in the air and she draws a circle in front of her face. "Ay-jacks and Pa-pee. More different and more the same." _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Akaia holds up a curious looking cylindrical object. In the palm of her open hand, it stands upright and unassuming as if nothing more than a paperweight. "Lee-saw." She explains, lifting the object slightly higher to better imply the relationship before quickly covering it with her other hand. In a mock performance of it's function, she leans in close to the object and then violently pulls that same hand away. "Boom." She whispers and then nods. "Lee-saw is in-...'intelligent'." _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Air-rik is bright. Warm like Share but... Share is like a hug. Air-rik is like the sun. Akaia holds up the now shriveled flower from before. Dark leaves that were once a vibrant golden hue are now faded and nothing more than a dried husk of what once was. A soft kiss disguised as a breath from the Sidhe and for a moment, colors return to the plant before they quickly fade again. "Te-... temporary." She states with thinly veiled determination that turns to a small victory as she finishes the odd word. "Without soil. Or water. Or the sun. It will die. That is Air-rik. Warm like the sun. Safe like an Ay-jacks." _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Dal-uh." Akaia says somewhat awkwardly although it's rejected rather quickly when she realizes the name doesn't taste quite right on her tongue. "'Dallas'... Dal-us." She repeats, this time nodding her head. "New. Smells like dust. Maybe he will like Eye-key..." Akaia produces a recently scrounged, mostly damaged picture manual depicting the assembly of some piece of furniture. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

While we're on the subject LoK spoilers

You started with the metal thing and now I'm in a rabbit hole of issues with the show. Like did we get a proper explanation for how Amon blocked her bending??? Or maybe we did and the answer is easy to find and I've just stopped trying to find it back when the show was still new. Not only that but just Aang showing back up to Deus Machina the issue. Or Jinora doing the same thing in season 2. Or Zaheer being so god awfully amazing with his abilities in season 3 but holy did I love to see it.

Or Korra being a side character in season 4. Or Toph giving Kuvira a stern talking too.

And yeah, we share pretty much the same opinions across all the shows, especially the bridge fight in Arcane and season 2 of Castlevania. Anyways, since you're copying me I think you owe me recs now. Pretty sure this is how this works.

I finished season 1, but it took me a bit because I was put off by the first couple of episodes and their wild tonal shifts.

Mhm. That identity crisis or when any show feels very episodic for idk... safety reasons. Makes the first season feel grindy like any of your '20 hours in' games. It's the same reason I could never complete the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series despite hearing similar praise about it improving dramatically over time.

And sure, it might be a shame that I'm missing out but then there's also more immediately enjoyable media for me to consume everywhere else. I definitely get it.

I think a large part that doesn't help with Avatar is that its reputation is rather inflated due to its influence and significance for [western] animation of that period of time.

When during it's original run, watching it was frowned upon by most in my circle but now I'm hearing 'Uncle Iroh' in rap songs and seeing kids who are as old as I was back when I first watched it, vibe his tea drinking aesthetic. Very different times lol.

I keep being told that Avatar the Last Airbender is good but I'm starting to think I was lied to.

I think it was great but I also think it gets progressively better so it might have to be an investment of time. Or maybe I feel that way because I invested the time and I feel obligated to like it.

But then I also like Avatar: The Legend of Korra too and that's received mixed reception so I don't know what to think anymore.

It's difficult for me to recall the last cartoon/animation that I've watched. I don't know if Arcane counts but that was amazing. So was Invincible on Amazon. I still try to keep up with RWBY although I don't remember much from the last season. Rick & Morty is always great but I've only ever seen single episodes isolated from the rest of the season. I've never sat down and watched it from start to finish so a lot of what's going on in the subplot is sometimes lost on me.

Oh and I'm not sure if this will count either but Space Jam: A New Legacy is a thing that decided it wanted to exist. I kind of made myself watch it recently. Having spent my Sunday mornings with my grandma watching Looney Tunes reruns (or her crush Walker, Texas Ranger stop a plane with a tractor beam) and having loved the original Space Jam, I might have been a little dissappointed.

Besides the above, I haven't consumed a whole lot of animation recently that wasn't strictly anime. I might catch snippets of things like The Simpsons or Family Guy accidentally but only because someone else is watching them.

@Nallore I'm enjoying the Legend of Vox Machina myself, but that might just be me and the novelty of seeing their D&D campaign come to life in an official animation. It's far from being the best show but I cannot deny the joy of watching pieces of their stream in a different medium or the the inside jokes peppered here and there. The animation work itself is fine. The story seems rushed or cut in a way that seems too fast, but I know that's a result of contraints given a limited run time and the insane amount of content they've had to cut down to fit into a few episodes. The voice acting is naturally amazing lol.

@Dark Cloud Castlevania was really good! Especially that first season. And second and fourth. Third not so much.

Will be getting to work on my CS later today after I'm off, but wanted to know if there is a preferred spread for the races or if we can get a list of whats been applied for? I wasn't yet sure what I wanted to play as and I thought about flexing over to a race that might need another body.
