It's alright, fdeviant. I don't always get things right myself and have to make notes, even though I've been reading and enjoying things.
The timeline of the virus is as follows which is revealed in the IC memories:
Virus arrived on Earth, then contained by Gene Co.
They experimented on it and alter the DNA, preventing it from reproducing and infecting on a world level.
It escaped, destroying the lab it was imprisoned within and been jumping from host to host for months. The first time it escaped, there was numerous casualties which slowed down after 2 months and vanished.
It latched onto Rach during the riots Cowl created which Justine and Gabe managed to get Rach to the CDC in the event she didn't survive.
Gene Co was called in, got wind of Rach's condition and realized it was their escaped virus. After Gabe become involved, Gene Co was shoved out forcing the CEO to request help from Cowl and resulting in this Arc's start. :P
Rach is a meta human with the abilities currently listed in her CS. Here is the need to know about her condition:
She's turning into a bio computer, pretty much. Her senses, abilities and more are enhancing at a rapid rate of progression, far more than she can understand or accept easily. Think of a computer taking in increasingly more information than it can store/translate and having issues keeping up but is unable to shut down. So every time she uses her abilities, she puts too much power into each effort which is rather dangerous and lacks control. This can result in lives being lost if she's hit by a negative trigger, such as Odette's fight with her earlier. (our little fae follower had issues containing her as it was.)
Her blood is being slowly saturated with nanites, which is turning her into What Hero mentioned was a Hybrid, someone's who has bonded with a Phylactery (alien tech). This is what creates her gritty, black blood.
