Guild Headquarters

After Persephone left the food court to get herself situated, Marcus followed suit and left as well to do… Well, he didn't know what he was going to do. He hadn't run into anyone in the council or Salem herself. And he wasn't going to call Salem if she was in a mood that accompanied discharging lightning into the sky. Hell, if it weren't for Persephone, he would have done some stuff that was important to someone that would help with something going on. At least that's what he would have tried to tell someone.

I guess I can talk to one of the guys about today. And maybe get out to go search for that golem… I do wish we were clear to find and rescue Aliira. I'd feel better doing that instead.

Moments later, Marcus found himself seated on a bench in the Guild's now beautifully lit garden, having a conversation with one of his oldest and well-known friends.

"You really think she blew me off? Well... She did give me the whole 'I don't have a phone' line, but... I don't know. I guess… Maybe you have a point. It's 2019 and everyone has a phone or should have one, right?." Lex said to a 3-foot tall rock golem who gave Marcus its undivided attention. The golem stuck its hand out and rotated it at the wrist to nonverbally show that it didn't possess a phone and was included in Marcus' "everyone" which only made Marcus chuckle. "Well you don't, but who would you even call? Plus you literally hate everyone, Rocky. Even some of the other entities. That's probably why you're hating on a great evening I had with Pers and not you. "

Rocky shrugged in admission to Marcus' claim of hating everyone. Each of his movements created the sound of stones sliding smoothly against each other. His feelings towards others stem from humanity's use of stone. He was not a fan of the chiseling, drilling, crushing, and carving. At the same time, the golem was just a jerk that could hate anyone for anything. Despite his dislike of others, Rocky had somewhat of a bromance with Marcus. They had their ups and downs but behaved like two siblings that never stopped bickering. The small stone man put up his hands in the shape of a heart, making Marcus raise an eyebrow. Rocky bounced the heart up and down in a teasing fashion due to the person of discussion.

"I'll ignore that. You know she's Circe's sister. Remember her? The woman from Dark Shadow that uses darkness. The darkness I used to create a monster that almost killed us." Marcus' words caused Rocky to aggressively punch his fists together. Marcus held a serious look on his face as he thought of the massive dark figure that had loomed over him when he last faced off against Circe. "That thing is still out there hurting people… We'll find it and put it down. I've thought about it a lot and I'll definitely need Jay and Ifrit for the next encounter. The 'Brick Squad' didn't stand a chance last time and don't make any excuses. We got fucked up out there."

Rocky let out a low growl and balled up both his fists up towards Marcus. The words stung, but it was a fact that the three golems didn't stand a chance against an entity made of tangible darkness.

The Brick Squad is what Marcus dubbed the solid earthen elemental golems he created. They lacked in firepower, but they made up for it in teamwork and personality.

"Anyway, Pers seems like a good kid, and not having a phone does sort of add up with the whole living in the jungle thing… You think she'd get along with Mr. Branch or Flora better?" Marcus mentioned two separate plant-based golems to change the subject. Mr. Branch was a golem discovered during Marcus' childhood formed using the wood of trees, logs, stumps, and branches. Flora, on the other hand, is attuned and simply created from plant life.

Rocky gave a shrug, but he did it more so to express that he didn't care and was still a bit pissed at Marcus' comments about the Brick Squad's performance. Giving way to his anger, he fell to the ground as a pile of ordinary rocks. This was Rocky's way of being rebellious. Marcus could have just forced him back into shape but would let the pissy golem be.

Such a diva…. Don't need him to hunt that thing anyway. I just hope I'M not needed anytime tonight. Marcus' next move was to head into the city in search of the entity created from tangible darkness. He had been searching for it since his recovery from his encounter with it but hadn't gotten lucky in his search. There were far too many reports of mysterious deaths in New York City, and it was difficult sifting through all of this information as a means of tracking the darkness entity. All of the killings and sightings could all easily be Circe. Her killings ranged widely in method, location, victims, and timing. Random was her modus operandi. The only thing Marcus had to go on were minor differences that were actually a pretty big deal. There were things Circe just didn't do that fell outside of how she killed. The woman commanded darkness flawlessly, there weren't many if any mistakes. Her enjoyment in her actions was obvious with how creative she was at times. The outlier killings were what Marcus focused on. Those were the sloppy ones and just didn't fit Circe. They were executed quickly with little thought to them and more importantly, there were too many survivors.

Knowing the difference not only helped narrow his search, but it kept him from possibly encountering Circe. The possibility of the two being together crossed his mind from time to time, and he hoped it was only just a thought in his head. Perhaps today would be the day he would face the monster he created.

Dark Shadow HQ, Brooklyn, New York City

Cleo's voice drew Lex's attention. Some of what she said confirmed his suspicions which was enough information to quench his curiosity at the moment.

"Sure, I'll have a bite. The seagulls at Coney stole my dinner when I got distracted by Salem's little battlecry." Lex smirked as he found it silly to be robbed by the birds, but he was also happy to speak to Cleo. Besides the fact that she seemed to go above and beyond to keep Dark Shadow from falling apart, you could find the most normalcy in Cleo. From what Lex could tell, the woman puts in way more than she gets back. Her dedication was admirable to him.

Lex grabbed the box of pizza and flipped it open to find a pizza with pepperoni scattered across it. His favorite. Even if it had been something else, complaining about pizza toppings in front of Cleo was a bad move.

"Lucky me! I'm sure you didn't plan it, but thanks… Pizza day means that you tried to take a... lighter day?" Lex asked and followed up with a sigh before taking a bite of a slice of pizza. He shook his head in disapproval and set the pizza box down. "I gotta find a way to give you a real day off… I'd need a whole team of responsible members and some way to deal with Circe just in case… How the hell would I...nevermind. It's either that, or Aloysius needs to pay you more." He smirked again as he took his second bite of his pizza slice. Lex knew how hard Cleo worked for Dark Shadow and he wanted to show that he appreciated what she did for the group, even if it was accompanied with a few bad jokes.

Subway Station, Brooklyn, New York City to Dark Shadow HQ
[Hr]The double doors of the train car slid open, allowing Lex to exit with his t-shirt, cargo shorts, and sneakers intact. He faced a few people waiting to board. The first man to get around Lex and through the door noticed several men lying on the seats, appearing to be asleep on the train.

"What the..?" The man let out as he looked upon the scene with a perplexed expression. "Pieces of shit. I'm not sitting on the train with these fuckin' bums!" The man said as he backed up and headed to the neighboring train car. The rest of the group followed suit as they noticed the large number of men "sleeping" all around the car.

Lex just continued on his way.

"Stand clear of the closing doors, please!" The speaker announced as it always did in the train car…

--
The Dark Shadow headquarters was exactly the way he left it, tattered. Upon entering, Lex scanned around for any familiar faces. He never went out of his way to socialize with new people but welcomed the conversation if it came to him. He wanted to confirm his strong assumption of Aloysius going through with the execution. The matter wasn't just contributing to gossip, it was an issue that would undoubtedly change the nature of the conflict between the Guild and Dark Shadow.

Salem De Silva came to mind and he remembered the day that women unleashed an unbridled force onto them after her father's death. He had focused on his physical and magical abilities to provide greater support if an attack of that scale threatened Dark Shadow.

"Anyone see the boss? Or anyone else important enough to be in the know?"

Rank within Organisation: Lieutenant

Birthmark Shape:
Location of Birthmark: Left breast.
Magical Ability: Elemental Entity Creation - The ability to take existing forms of an element and transform them into a golem style creature. The maximum number created is four individual entities that cannot exceed the size of 9 feet tall and mostly retain a humanoid form as its primary appearance. The entities are only capable of whatever their element is capable. For example, a stone entity cannot breathe fire or fly, and a fire entity cannot touch a person without burning them. History/Bio: Marcus was born into a notable scholarly family within the Guild. Most members of Marcus's family worked directly for the Guild, maintaining records, organizing small functions, and integrating newly discovered magic users to the Guild. Essentially, they helped support the Guild in being the Guild.

Marcus grew up not having this idea in mind for himself. He found few relatives to relate to and his magical ability appeared to be some odd form of telekinetic puppeteering or animation, which was deemed as a bit creepy. It wasn't until one of his "puppets" were found moving around even after Marcus had fallen asleep. After identifying his magical ability, he wasn't sent away to some faraway place to be exiled from others. Marcus was actually sent to other families within the Guild to gather knowledge on the different elements they commanded at their fingertips.

Marcus trained and studied frequently during his childhood a bit more than others his age, but not just because he was pushed a bit by his parents, but because he wanted to use his power more effectively to make what he considered some of his close friends stronger and more real. Yes, Marcus had come to consider his creations, his friends. Sure they didn't speak, but he enjoyed their company. His parents often said this was his drive, but also what held him back from rivaling Salem De Silva. He faced off against the woman during her final challenge alongside other mages to prove her prowess as a leader of the Guild.

Her victory made him proud of himself. It got rid of some of the pressure, and more importantly, he would continue what his family was known for in his own way. He'd support the Guild… in his own way. Wait, scratch that. In their own way. Marcus is one of the few within the Guild that hold the rank of Lieutenant with his crew, squad, buds, bros, or whatever you may call them by his side.

Name: Persephone Masers | "New Girl"
Relationship: Acquaintance
Thoughts: If I'm pretending that she's not related to Circe, I think Pers is awesome. Sure, she's a little shy right now, but I can't let that distract me from the fact that she's been living in the rainforests of the Amazon for years BY HERSELF.

Name: Circe | "Baby Mama Who the fuck wrote that"
Relationship: Enemy
Thoughts: Let me make this clear. I did not have magical relations with this woman! That thing out there is not mine! I don't make evil. I just gave it form.... I mean, damn! I just don't like her. You can cut the rest out.

So insensitive...

Uptown Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City
"He actually did it?" Lex almost sounded as if he were in disbelief whispering the words to himself. He gave the sky his attention as he stood from a bench on the boardwalk. Lex had not witnessed Aloysius' actions, but instead interpreted the sudden streak of lightning that flashed across the night sky as a sign that the deed had been done.

Lex's surprise did not sprout over the execution of an enemy, but of the acceptance of this particular execution's consequences. This reminded all that Aloysius' convictions were steel and unchallenged. I guess this means things will ramp up even more now. And that means I'll need to start heading back to HQ…

Killing and death was not the objective, but it was a byproduct the Dark Shadow members accepted. Hell, there were few that gladly welcomed it. To Lex's knowledge, Aloysius had not planned to just kill someone today. His goal was to send a retaliatory message. One that was personal enough to deliver a blow that struck deep and would leave a remindful scar behind. Its effectiveness was made apparent by the powerful expulsion of electricity into the dark sky.

"No! Come on!" Lex shouted as two seagulls boldly swooped in on the french fries he had set down on the bench. Lex gave a quick backhanded swipe at the birds, causing them to flutter away, but it was too late. The fries had spilled all over the bench and the ground, leaving Lex with nothing he would want to eat. He could have been angrier at the winged pests, but he shouldn't have been so distracted and left food out for seagulls to do what seagulls naturally do. "Take 'em then." Lex said walking away as if he truly had the authority to decide whether they could eat the fries or not. He could utterly destroy the birds, but it was unnecessary to him. He imagined that his other colleagues would take the opportunity to simply flex their magical abilities to eviscerate, flay, or twist these harmless creatures into grotesque forms. That just wasn't his thing.

Minutes later, Lex found himself seated in subway train car.

"Stand clear of the closing doors, please!" The speaker announced as it always did in the train car that contained just two parties of people. Lex and the men who entered behind him and scattered themselves around the train car. Lex kept his eyes forward with a neutral expression set upon his face. Was it seriousness? Yes, and he didn't appear to be pleased at the moment either. There were deciding eyes on Lex seeking to fill a void created by greed, pride, and envy. The group of men that occupied the same train car were locked onto Lex. They actually picked him out on the platform because he was alone. Sure, he was a large man, but they had the numbers and this was not their first mugging of a larger target. Lex let out a sigh of frustration that broke the silence after the doors shut. He definitely wasn't pleased at the moment. Lex wasn't pleased that he would have to waste his time flexing his magical ability.
