I guess my comfort zone is "eccentric side character."

He was actually taken aback that this man seemed to know who, exactly, he was looking for but then again these people were humans. It was no telling how mighty their minds worked. He had no idea to what point these people had evolved. Was it some sort of psychic impulse from physical contact, or a deep cold reading technique? Was their information network just that vast and omniscient? Had the story been written in the stars or predicted by some sort of supercomputer? Or perhaps it was the moogles who had heard the whole story and had pointed him here on their behalf?

Oh...

It was the moogles wasn't it...

Yeah...yeah that made much more sense...

He couldn't let mind run away like that out here. These were real humans, they were probably nothing like all the myths. They hadn't gotten there yet. They never would at all, if these seekers of darkness had their way. It wasn't enough for them to kidnap his oldest friend, snuff out one of the wisest being in Paradise, and genocide literally countless slave programs just waiting to be reborn. No, that just wasn't evil enough for them. And what had it been for, to complete the set? Is that why that had shown up in the first place, because Metallica had lost his heart and they were looking to recruit? Or had they somehow set that up too?

The corners of his mouth downturned just a little, his only betrayal of the boiling caldera of anger that bubbled just under the surface. "I don't need any compensation either." He said. "You had me at 'yes.'" He tuned on his heel and set back across the floor to where he'd been. So the best way to stick it in these seekers craw was to find the princesses before they did. Beings whose hearts were composed of pure light, huh? He looked around the room, his eyes landing on the girl Lilliana who was currently attempting to coax the crude robotic dinosaur belonging to the bounty hunter into...playing with her? The one that had just been nothing but delightful this entire time.

It probably wasn't that simple, but what if it was?

He walked over to her, standing there with the bounty hunter and what was unmistakably one of the old gene mods. You occasionally ran across a human with a tail, weird ears, multiple limbs, strange eyes. It might have been some sort of high fashion before they'd locked themselves into that form when embracing forever. They were arguing with one another, which meant he could just slip in. "Excuse me." He said to Lilliana, tapping her lightly on the shoulder. "Are you one of them? A princess of heart, I mean. Like, would you know?"

"I'm...ah...guwhe...," Bak stammered, completely unprepared to deal with any sort of compliment. She never had any idea what to think when Gilliam said something like that, especially when it followed one of his perverted outbursts. To save herself from having to respond she just shoved the whole scone in her mouth at once and and vaguely nodded.

She was grateful when Clara brought up the obvious flaw in their plan. Swigging the delightful tea to help her swallow she shook her head, a little embarrassed. "Ah, da. They would bar us from tournament if they even suspected." She had let her dislike of the boy cloud her judgment and jump at the chance to get him without thinking. They couldn't be banned from the Tournament. She loved the tournament. She had had so much fun last year every time she got the chance to blow up the competition. She would have to try harder to think up a really good plan!

That, however, was interrupted when one of Clara's bat-winged monsters flew into the room. There was always something fun happening when one of those flew in. She grinned almost as wide as Gilliam. "What do you need us to do, Tovarish?"

In the dark something heavy slapped get hands on the table, the tremor nearly knocking over the nice little glass of tea Gilliam had so kindly set there for her. She would have stood for effect, but she was already standing. Bak always stood at these meetings now. They had lost too many brave chairs for it to be otherwise. "Rurik! She said across the table. "You must sit up! If not you will just be going to sleep again where we can not see you. Christine, tell him, you know I am speaking truth."

It was only in this room that wrongdoers got any sort of warning other than the tell tale roar of a rocket lighting up. She'd learned that the hard way the first time he'd deflected a rocket into Clara. It was her greatest shame, the daughter of kind generous Mr. Mephisto being singed by one of her own weapons! She had spent all of the next day distraught and had been extra careful with her punishments since then on.

"As for how to be crushing St. Laurel's team," She said, switching gears and pumping both fists in the air, "Vittorio and Christine are having right idea. We should crush the horrible Alto as soon as possible! With mortar, or landmine, or giant cannon!" She looked around eagerly, but it was impossible to read the others expressions in the dim light, so she looked back down to the teacup. An idea struck her. "Oh, but Gilliam should not be involved. He is first year. They do not know he is monster yet. Remember how rattled they were in last tournament when I came out? And I am not even invincible monster like he is."

There was an old superstition among Orpheus's people that if a human ever turned and spoke directly to you then the sheer power of the wisdom that they were trying to convey would overload your mind and make you to explode. This idea was generally dismissed both by those that thought that the idea of the humans thinking anything anymore was absurd and the practically minded folks that simply stated that humans did not speak and never spoke. However to those that thought the humans had evolved their thinking to a point that they thought things so profound there was just nothing more important than thinking them the idea held more sway and always invited a certain degree of caution when in their vicinity.

Orpheus fell into this camp, and it was partly why he had not spoken. The other part was...well...just how did one greet their gods? What did you say? What were you supposed to do with your hands? Should you speak loudly and clearly so the can hear you, or softly so as not to hurt their ears. This is how King Peleus must have felt, he decided, standing around on Mt. Olympus surrounded by deities on his wedding day, some of them just goofing around like they were normal people. Add to this the culture shock of witnessing a bustling human city, all the noise compared to the serene and ghostly silence that permeated such places back home, the palaces grandeur contrasted with its uncountable small flaws giving it an unreal beauty unlike anything he had ever seen before, and it was little wonder that he had unconsciously retreated into himself as he moved through the city until what had drifted into the throne room was nothing but a crystal ball, purple light leaking from the busted gash up top. Further keeping him all defensive like this was the appearance of Tocsax, through one of those black portals. The same sort of black portal, same sound and everything. Seeing as no one else reacted to that, though, he decided to bide his time and wait for his nerves to settle.

Two concepts, however, provided by he self admitted Nobody forced his hand and made him speak up; The group he'd used to belong too, and the method to restore a Nobody to its normal form. The small orb shook, scattering a cloud of small fibrous crystal and emitted purple light. The light reflected on the cloud, shaping it until the clear imagine of a human body was wrapped securely around the core. "Sorry to interrupt." he said, desperately wishing that he could actually sound sorry for interrupting. He stepped forward, striding right up to Tocsax. This was where all his observations paid off! He would ask his question of the gods, and would do so with perfect decorum!

He wrapped his arms tightly around Tocsax, just as he had seen Lilliana do before she had introduced herself. As he let go, he tried to capture at least a little of the dignity Lucas Smith had injected into his own introduction for a times two introduction decorum combo. He could not, but that didn't stop him. "My name is Zeta 33,576 Orpheus and Eurydice. You can think of me as sort of an ambassador of the twenty-three servers, and there's something I have to know before we move on. These guys you used to run with, did they dress in big black coats?"

After thinking about it, I decided you were right. All Bak's relationships make much more sense if she's bumped up a year.

Updated my relationships to reflect Christine joining the side of wickedness.

Huh wait, turns out there was only you left @Gentlemanvaultboy. That sounds like a pretty good fit, although I did want her in the Vigilantes but it's up to you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I wanted them to be neutral but they're leaning towards good a little too much. It'd be nice to have someone chaotic in there.

Depending on how things play out she might end up swinging that way eventually. She's not a bad girl at heart, really. It's just that she thinks being blown up and pulling dirty tricks is all in good fun.
