Stein Kalfox felt agitated as she got back to work on her NC, pulling the goggles from over her bangs to back over her eyes before tapping a switch on the side of them to activate their sensory array that connected itself to the readings of the NC itself. The “Little Dragon” had seen a lot of action in the past, but she had never gotten blindsided like she had when her newfound commander ‘rescued’ her from death— a fact she was surprised hadn’t been held over her head and used to force her in as a pilot for their interests. A light breath escaped her as she retrieved her toolkit from her belt once again and began doing whatever work that she had missed out on with the pointless conversation the head engineer had basically forced her into having to only mock her blatantly.

“Tch.”

The annoyance would fade with time, but if she was to be fighting with amateurs no matter how “talented” they were— she was going to make sure she was at maximum capacity as per possible. She sighed deeply as her thoughts going back to the fight was still resounding with more and more questions.

We have to put you on probationary status pending an investigation we are not at nature to speak about.

All company resources will be suspending for this duration.

The timeline of this investigation will be unknown so you should look for independent contracts in the meantime.

The price of the NC will be deducted out of your holdings account so you may be allowed to keep your personal NC.

Stein gritted her teeth as the words cycled in her mind as if reminding her of her situation. She was broke, homeless, and stranded. Even if she hadn’t been nearly killed and her NC half-toasted, she would’ve been in a shit scenario and not any less furious. It frustrated that they hung her out to dry for whatever reasons the Board of Directors were investigating. All the blonde-haired pilot had were questions without answers and it all came back to her shaking her emotions ajar.

CLANK!

“Damn it!” She spat, loudly as she swung a wrench down against her NC— the loud CLANK of the metal meeting metal making an abrupt noise in the process.

Originally, I started Maximum Comics for just the reasons you stated: the concurrent games were spread too thin. Back a few years ago we had an Indie Comics, One Universe, Ultimate DC, and All-Star Marvel game; and my belief was adding a concrete foundation for a true singularization would make them all not needed and thus folks who I value as talented writers could focus their efforts on one game. Unfortunately between my timing, setup, activity, or whatever other effects… it just didn’t work and I began to doubt myself. I take a lot of the blame for this, but I keep thinking in my head that I didn’t build this game for nothing so I really should find a way to make it work; your version of ASM is a good standard to prove that it works. But my activity was jagged for a month and a half…. and folks gave up. I don’t know if ASM has luck or just more determined folks, but it does give me a glimmer of hope for Maximum.

I just need to talk with my players and find out how to do just that.

So! Apparently people are now complaining that I set it in 2001 instead of like 2011. Is this a common issue?

I'd do either, but if we're recruiting new players the post count might seem too high and drive them away.

That's what I was thinking (as well as how much in-continuity stuff from ex-players we have).

Also do you guys think starting with an in-game world spanning event would be better too? Something bigger than the Red Skull stuff I setup prior.

I'm technically still here. I've just found myself overwhelmed with activity in my smaller roleplays and school work looming on the horizon. I can find time for Maximum Comics. Just not right at this second.

With respect, I think if this was going to work it would have worked by now. There's only so many times you can keep rebooting something and expecting it to go differently. Despite the reservations I had last time, I still put a lot of time and effort in to no avail and I don't think I'd be able to do that again.

So I'm out on this one. I wish you the best of luck though.

This isn't a reboot; this is a recovery from a month hiatus at a bad point in the Fall Season. I understand your issues and respect your departure, though.

So, long story short, I think a way to guarantee the game lasting longer is to put more emphasis on the main plot.

Alright, I know this might be too little too late for some but I have not entirely given up on Maximum Comics despite this month plus hiatus. I do not hold it against anyone if they moved on to other RP’s as I struggled to keep my end of my promise of activity but I do want us to keep going for those who are still passionate about their characters. I’ve talked with Lord Wraith and he had found himself unsure what to post; losing interest in Spider-Man almost as soon as he posted his last post with the character, and Emperor still wants to do X-Men but has found himself in a creative sinkhole currently.

With that said I will be needing to wipe a bit of the roster, so I need to know who is still interested in their characters enough to get us back on track. I’m willing to hear criticisms and concerns as well so we can redirect the game; I will no longer be making false promises and instead just get to work posting. I will not post any more “I’m working on it, I swear” replies as they are just empty. Actually doing them instead of saying I will is far better. I’ve had an iffy last quarter of the year, but reflecting on my “labor of love” that is Maximum on my nameday I feel a lot of things coming to me in perspective.

I’d love to have many of you back with me as we get this RP back moving.

Also let us all make sure the OOC stays healthy, yeah?
