Yeah, feel free to add an investigation or perception check if you want to identify what has been following you.

You got it! XD

This roll is not as good. It's a 11 Perception. ^^"
Kalila scanned more of her unknown surroundings, taking in the flowers and their boxes that adorned the windows. The guards had started to crack down on citizens adorning flowers on their homes back home, so it was so strange to see so many of the flowers. She soon sees that the source of the music is coming from an inn!

Music and performance at an inn? Such a thing would have gotten the inn permanently shut down! But she shakes her head of the thoughts. She's clearly not in Valerith, so the rules of Valerith do not apply here, wherever here is! A part of her was hesitant about entering the inn to begin with, but something else she notices quickly changes her mind.

The sound of footsteps behind her. The hairs on the back of her neck rise. This isn't the first time she's faced this kind of situation when walking to and from various destinations and home in Valerith. She immediately knew what to do: She needed to get to the inn, quickly!

People can't do anything unsavory in the middle of a crowd, thank the Jury!
If they do, then I can claim self-defense in the worst-case scenario.

Walk quickly, but don't run. I don't want to let my pursuer know that I know that they are behind me, but be ready to run if I need to.

Stay calm...and just act casual. Getting even more scared than I already am is not going to help matters.

With those thoughts in mind, she walks purposefully and briskly to the inn, keeping her senses attentive on the sounds behind her. She even lifts her skirt up slightly so she can run if she needed to without tripping over the hem.

Assuming she reaches the door to the inn without incident, she opens it and hurries inside without hesitation. She will find and make her way to the innkeeper.

If this place's inns and taverns have anything in common with the ones in Valerith, she hoped it would be a safeword drink.
No worries! ^_^

The map is still loading on my end while I write my post. ^^"
I'm going to add a roll to my post for flavor as well. ^_^
Kalila had no idea what came over her...

She normally wouldn't have argued.

She normally would have done what was expected of her without question.

She normally would have obeyed.

Her many attempts of learning magic proved fruitless, while her brother, Zayan, and her sister, Leila, excelled in the arcane studies. She carried the shame of being the stupid sibling for years, despite the fact that she kept on trying in her studies. When her parents informed her of the arranged marriage, and their reasoning behind it, she thought that she would finally redeem herself.

But...reality showed otherwise. Bartholomew was worse than she had imagined. She saw how the cruel and entitled nobleman held no care or concern for the people of the Kingdom unless he can benefit from them. His way of addressing those beneath his status of noble even sickened her. Bartholomew himself wasn't even the worst part of the disastrous meeting: He told her a horrific truth about her mother's work! Just thinking of that truth made her feel ill.

At that moment the words escaped Bartholomew's mouth, and his lips curled into that disgusting, sneering smirk, something snapped in Kalila's heart and mind. Before she even realized it, she snuck out of the party, and ran home to confront her mother...

The whole event is a blur...! That argument wasn't a mere argument anymore; It felt like she was fighting for her life, trying to wrestle it out of quicksand. It's just as well, the suffocating walls of the estate had drowned out her voice for so long. Tears streamed down her face during the argument as the voices rise.

The argument still echoes in her mind. Kalila isn't sure why, but her own wishes kept making themselves the most prominent voices instead of her mother's answers...

"Mom, Why?! I wish you would just be honest with me!"

"I could actually help find her if you would just let me! I wish I was out there searching for Leila!"

"Bartholomew is a horrid man! I refuse to marry him! I wish I am far far away from him! And you right now! How could you be so cold?!"

She didn't even know what her mother's answer was, let alone her reaction, because after saying all of that, everything had gone dark.

....

....

She gasps as she sharply takes a breath of air and pushes herself up from the ground. She rapidly catches her breath, like she had been drowning. Upon noticing the state of her dress, she couldn't help but roll her eyes at the dirtied attire and she sarcastically thought to herself in deadpan, "Oh no. Not the dress. What a shame," She gives a cursory patting about the dress to try and get the dirt and rumples off. There's nothing she can do about the stains on the hems.

...It might as well be her funerary dress now instead of an engagement dress. Her mother is going to kill her...

At that thought, she immediately realizes that she has no idea what happened during the argument, let alone where she was. She looks around at her surroundings to find that she is definitely not in Valerith anymore! The architecture is completely different! From what little she can see in the darkness, they almost look softer and much more welcoming than the buildings back home! Kalila came to realize that she had woken up an alleyway much to her confusion.

Despite regaining some of her bearings, the question still stands, and she couldn't help but ask it out loud to no one,

"...Where am I?!"

The only thing that answers her question is an unusual series of sounds. Music! She freezes, expecting to hear screams and the marching of guards towards the sounds. But those sounds never came. Instead, much to her confusion, the sounds that follow the music is the sound of clinking glasses and voices that hold an emotion she hadn't seen or heard in a long time: Pure, unadulterated joy!

Before the confusion could truly set in, something else caught her attention, something within. She recognized the sensation of magic from her studies. But at the time, those sensations were faint and fleeting, like water in cupped hands. This time however...she can feel magic coursing through her veins! The fact that it feels like it's eagerly waiting to be unleashed frightens Kalila. Upon noticing this magic, she mumbles in surprise and confusion, "What is this?! How...?!"

Then a different cause of concern arises, and with a gasp, she reaches for her neck. She lets out a sigh of relief to find that her grandmother's pendant was still around her neck. She remembered how her mother gave her the pendant after days of pestering her for it as a child. She had beamed happily when her mother pointed out that she was as stubborn as Gam-Gam.

With that reassurance, she is able to focus back on her current surroundings and her situation. Her heart pounds in anxiety and fear at the sound of the music swelling again. The humidity of this area certainly didn't help. It wasn't humid back in Valerith! The air was dry there...but it didn’t smell as sweet…

Despite her rapidly beating heart, she reasons to herself quietly, heading to the entrance of the alleyway, "Staying here is just a good way of getting mugged. At least I'm in a city instead of in the middle of the wilderness. I need to find an inn..."

At this time of night, she needed to find shelter for rest, and she could learn about where she is exactly from the innkeeper. From there, she can figure out buying a different pair of clothes and how to get back to Valerith.

But...a part of her was curious about the music and merry-making despite the preschool lessons about music being evil rearing its ugly head to the forefront of her mind. Standing at the arching entrance of the alleyway, she mutters to herself nervously, "....It wouldn't hurt to just see what the hullabaloo is about, right? As long as I don't participate, I should be golden. Yeah...Plus, I can get more information from people while they're happy. I'll need to know where to find an inn after all..."

With that, she steps forth out of the alleyway, and into the city proper. She heads towards the sound of music playing.

There is one upside to this situation. At least her boots are comfortable, she wasn't going to get blisters anytime soon. If she had been wearing stilettos, she wouldn't have been able to run home to begin with...
"...Change is coming, Little Lordling..."

A whisper in the darkness teases at Cadmus's ears. He cannot see anything, but he can feel a presence, looming over him. His instincts scream at him to either run or fight, for the presence whispering to him is a greater force and much more powerful than he is alone. There is no weapon in hand, and he cannot see where he can run to.

"You are the last. Will you bring about Resurrection?

Or will you bring about Destruction?"

The voice doesn't seem to see fit to explain itself or its words to Cadmus. Instead it hisses once more in finality,

"We shall find out.

Let the games begin.

Now...Wake.

Wake...

Wake...

Wake up, Cadmus....Rise and Shining!"

A familiar, bright voice breaks through the darkness along with the ray of sunshine that pierces through Cadmus's eyelids. Upon waking up, Cadmus immediately sees Meli of the Moonpetal looming from above, her face very close to his. Apparently she had been standing beside his bed trying to wake him up. The curtains in front of the window leading into his bedroom have already been pulled open to let the sunlight in.

Of all people to try and wake him up today, it was Meli! Well, there are worse ways she could have woken him up. Upon seeing him open his eyes, she bursts out laughing and she greets him, "'Bout time, sleepyhead! I thought you were just gonna sleep in!"

She then hops away from him, and she tells him, "Elena sent me to wake you up! She made pancakes today! You better hurry up, or I'll eat your plate of pancakes after I finish mine!" She then bounds out of the room, calling to his retainers, "He's up! He's up! Make way, The Lord of the House is up!"

Cadmus is able to have a moment to dust the sleepy cobwebs out of his mind in silence. It's been three months since Ser Adam Stonehelm passed away, most likely to meet what afterlife the Judge has decided for him. Since then, those at the seat of the Dragonspire Throne saw fit to claim more resources and push their plans for the grove further.

This includes attempting to get their hands on the very orchard Cadmus grew up on.

Looking out of the window, he can see one road was constructed to be brazenly close to the orchard, while cutting into the grove. It's hard to tell whether this was a taunt or an intimidation attempt, if not both.

Regardless, after Ser Adam passed away, letters offering a hefty pay for the orchard came in. When those were either answered negatively or just ignored, official demand letters for the property started flying in. Soldiers have even come by, trying to intimidate Cadmus and his retainers. Thankfully, the Moonpetal Clan was there with the family. With the backing of the satyrs, the soldiers' intimidation tactics fell flat, and they had to simply leave empty-handed.

This seems to be just another peaceful day on the orchard, and the day awaits Cadmus.

None could imagine how this would be the final peaceful day on the Orchard...

Since Vertigo has been away for a few days now, I'll have to move things along. But they are still in the game.

Which means...It's finally time to move on to the next chapter and reunite the party!!!!

EDIT: It's been 2 years since Brutrumukk got reincarnated, and 1 year since Brutrumukk and Jub started their side quest... O_O

It is time indeed...!

Got a 17 total.

That's a success!

Aurora would recognize that she and Zavakri both share Elvish and Dwarvish!
@Guardian Angel Haruki

Would Aurora remember or know what languages Zavakri speaks that she does as well?

Huh...
I don't think that the languages have been addressed in character.

I'll allow an Insight.
And a Bump. ^_^
