Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Raised in the Boston suburb of Brookline, Massachusetts. His father works as an Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist) at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Brian's grandfather served as an officer in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps rising to the rank of Colonel. Brian entered the Army right out of High school.
As a boy, Brian’s father also named Brian often took his son to Fenway Park to watch the Red Sox play baseball. Brian loves baseball and the Red Sox. The elder Park did not have a lot of time to entertain with his son, but when he did, he often made it grand, going to baseball games, football games, the Super Bowl, Disney World and even the occasional Carribean Cruise.
As a teen, Brian took to sailing, engaging in the sport off the coast of Cape Cod near his family’s summer place in Harwich, MA. Brian and his father as well as the occasional friend would take their 42’ Clipper offshore and sail to Nantucket Island or Martha’s Vineyard. Brian had become an accomplished sailor by the time he graduated from Brookline High School. Brian also played both baseball and football for BHS, playing Safety in Football and shortstop in baseball. He did quite well in both, but not enough to continue these activities at a semi-professional level.
Brian graduated from Basic Training at Ft. Benning, GA as an 11B Infantryman. He then went on to Airborne and Ranger schools also at Ft. Benning. His first duty assignment was as Squad Automatic Weapon gunner, in B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry (1-27), 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After a 15-month tour in Hawaii, PFC Park was reassigned as a Grenadier, in C Company, 1st Battalion, 75th Rangers (1-75), Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. While with the Rangers, he experienced combat in South America where he received a wound to the shoulder. He was promoted to Specialist while with the Rangers. When his initial time in service was about to end, he submitted a request to Special Forces. He was promotable, but had not yet seen the orders. John F. Kennedy would have to take him as a Specialist (Promotable). While Brian was at the US Army Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQ) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Ft. Bragg, NC (JFK - SWC), he was promoted to Sergeant. He received the 18B MOS for Light Weapons Specialist. He also trained in speaking Korean and Chinese.
As a special forces operator, SGT Park was assigned to Alpha Detachment in A company, 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (1-1 SFG), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Tacoma, WA. Three years later, Brian was promoted to Staff Sergeant and after six years with 1st SFG, he was promoted to Sergeant First Class. While with 1st Group, he served several tours in Korea and some “diplomatic” missions to both China and Japan. He has participated in several joint training endeavors with the South Korean Army and the Japanese Ground Defense Force. In 2014, he was involved in undisclosed combat actions in Indonesia and six months later in Malaysia.
After the Soviet invasion of the US, remnants of the 1st SFG were combined with other groups to create teams to be dropped into either the Rocky Mountains or the Appalachian Mountains to help Americna guerrilla units fight against the Soviets. Since he grew up in New England, Brian requested to be assigned to a team operating in that area of the country. He and MSG Morse, his team chief were dropped into the Green Mountains of Vermont.

Brian Park is serious about his work. He knows that survival is dependent upon his ability to pay close attention to detail and to insure those personnel he is charged with preparing for combat take their training seriously as well as the preparation requirements for combat. As a teen, Tyus was able to move into the Teen Krav Maga program where he trained on the Israeli Self-Defense form, borrowing techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Taekwondo. By age 17, Tyus had his second degree black belt with training in both Kempo Karate and Krav Maga. Since, his father was seriously interested in Martial arts as well, the father and son worked out frequently together, helping to hone Tyus' skills.
Tyus was not an exceptional student in school receiving average grades, but also learning how to speak German in the process. He spent most of his High School years playing soccer in the fall and running with the track team in the spring. He excelled in athletic pursuits.
After High School, Tyus enlisted in the United States Army attending Basic Combat & Infantry Training at Ft. Benning, GA (MOS 11B). Upon completion of the 14-week Infantry Course, he proceeded to Airborne and Ranger Schools, both at Ft. Benning. In 1999, after successfully completing training requirements as an Airborne Ranger, Private (E2) Morse was assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord about five miles south of Tacoma, WA.
By October, 2001, Private First Class (E3) Tyus Morse was reassigned to A Company, First Battalion, 27th Infantry (1-27 IN), 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, HI. On 1 January 2002, Tyus Morse was promoted to Sergeant (E5) and assigned as an Infantry Team Leader with C Co., 1-27 IN. While with 5th Group, Sergeant Morse deployed to the Middle East at least a dozen times between 2004 and 2008. During this time, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSG) and engaged the enemy no fewer than forty-three separate engagements. During this time, he received several minor injuries and was hospitalized for a brief stint in 2006 for a gunshot wound (GSW) to the right thigh. Also as a member of the Special Forces community, Tyus was able to continue training in Krav Maga. This is the martial art/self defense form used by all US Special Operations units.
In 2008, after ten years in the US Army, Staff Sergeant Morse requested training and assignment to the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta. He was recruited and indoctrinated into the dark underworld of a unit that is informally referred to as Delta Force. As a Delta operator, SSG Morse was deployed to many locations around the world. He received training in speaking Russian, Farsi and Polish while serving with Delta. He has engaged the enemy in numerous hostile actions and received additional wounds forcing him to receive hospital care.
In 2011, Tyus was promoted to Sergeant First Class, continuing to serve with Delta. SFC Morse received joint training with the USAF and US Navy as a Forward Air Controller. He can use VHF radios to call in air strikes on enemy positions with pin point accuracy.
In 2015, Tyus Morse was promoted to Master Sergeant and took a position as Team Chief in an Operational Detachment Alpha in 3rd Battalion, 5th SFG (3-5SFG).
Following the Russian invasion of the US, the United States Army fought a withdrawal to the west side of the Mississippi River. MSG Morse’s Alpha Detachment was deployed to Northern New England.

Deleted SFC Brian Park
Or this guy from Rhode Island, could use some rewriting...
Gigger walked back into the cabin after contemplating the acts they had just committed. He believed he had resolved his moral issue, but was still in doubt.
His arms now overly burdened with firewood, he dropped several pieces in the wooden bin to the right of the fireplace. He made several trips outside, each time returning with an armload of firewood; most overly seasoned which would burn up quickly. He reserved a few pieces that had only been cut within the past year. Those would be best for overnight when it got cold.
He heard Dan mention breaking out the army guns and the explosives. This cemented the track they were following. He could not turn back. He was in it for good and would probably die in the process. It took several contemplative moments to let Dan’s comments sink in.
Preston reinserted the bolt to his rifle, inspecting the action to make sure it operated properly. He looked at Dan, “mind if I take one apart?” The younger Giguere brother smiled, standing up. He walked to the arms/supply room to deposit his Remington and retrieve an M4. When he returned to the great room, he looked at his brother building a fire. “Hey Ben, clean your pistol!”
“Leave me the fuck alone, Preston!”
“Kiss my ass, butt head,” Preston smiled.
Ben let it go, lighting the fire. He stood up and turned toward Dan. “You know, my dad always kept a generator up here during the fall and winter months. He brought it back to BF in the Spring. This building is wired for electricity, but as you have seen there are no wires or poles for several miles. How about we get a generator and some fuel?” Ben wasn’t going to even talk about WiFi or internet connections. Such a notion had not even entered his mind. Given their location on Google Maps, they would need a Satellite telephone in order to upload anywhere.
“Hey fuck nuts,” Ben yelled at Preston. “Give that God damn cleaning kit.” Ben pulled out his Ruger .44 and opened the cleaning kit. “Why don’t you be useful and hand me one of them beers. I paid for them.” He started cleaning his pistol and took the cold can from his brother. “Yea, you are right about the army stuff. We need to get into that now. I want to check out that Mk-14 we got from those guys.”
When I deployed to Bosnia in 2001, I noticed the 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry, 10th Infantry Division (Mountain) were all equipped with the M4 Carbine while all the US Army National Guard units were equipped with M16A2 rifles. But that was 16 years ago and I know the intent was to equip the National Guard units with M4 carbines as well. So I did some research.
These soldiers are members of the Vermont Army National Guard and obviously equipped with M4 Carbines rather than M16A2 Rifles.
I researched this because I would like to know the source of these weapons our characters would acquire on the black market. Will the weapons come from a civilian source (AR-15)? US Military source (M4)? or Soviet source (AK-47)?
If the source is civilian then there is a wide variety of options out there. I merely put the AR15 at the top of the list simply because it is the most common military styled rifle on the market today. But alas, all of these weapons would be semi-automatic only. It would be a rare find to have a full automatic weapon in the civilian sector. Not impossible, just rare.
If the source is the Vermont Army National Guard, either dead or captured, as the Soviets have taken over Vermont then the principal weapon would be the M4 Carbine. But this list would also include Mk-14 Assault Rifles, M203 Grenade Launchers, M9 Pistols, M240B Machine Guns, M2 .50 Caliber Machine Guns and Mk-19 40mm Automatic Grenade Launchers.
This is a listing of VTARNG units:
86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain)
3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain)
HHC, Ethan Allen Firing Range, Jericho, VT HHD 2, Camp Fogarty, East Greenwich, RI A Company (VT) B Company (Maine National Guard) C Company (NH) D Company (VT)
186th Brigade Support Battalion 86th Brigade Special Troops Battalion Garrison Support Command
86th Troop Command
131st Engineer Company (HO) 40th Army Band 172 Public Affairs Detachment C Co 3/126th AVN (Air Ambulance) Detachment 27, Operational Support Airlift Command Detachment 1, 42nd MP Company 15th Civil Support Team (WMD) 124th Infantry Regiment (Regional Training Institute). 124th Regiment (RTI)'s designation recognizes a former Vermont ARNG unit, the 124th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School 2nd Battalion (Modular Training) 3rd Battalion (Information Operations) 4th Battalion (Signal Training)
The units in the Troop Command are not actual combat maneuver units. They are training units used to help train the combat units in the 86th Brigade Combat Team. These units would possess a nominal supply of weapons and could be found dropped by their previous owners quite often.
If the source is from US military that have already retreated west of the Mississippi River, then the possibility of the M16A2 being dropped into guerrilla units as there is a surplus of these rifles on the market.
If the source is Soviet, then the opportunity to acquire Soviet built rifles like the AK-47 are quite possible. The nice thing about using Soviet built weapons is that the guerrillas can use Soviet ammunition which is probably in much more abundant supply, behind the lines.
NOTE: The lined out units in the hider depicting VTARNG units are located out of state and not present in our little sandbox.
Phong Nga watched Ghe Tou Vinh slide from cover and crawl forward. ‘What does he know that I do not?’ Assuming Ghe knew something Phong did not, he followed the sapper out of cover, trying to hide in the underbrush as much as possible. The group advanced about a hundred meters when the American built .30 caliber machine gun opened up on them. Phong Nga was not advancing any further. Whatever gains his Sapper brother made they would be lost on Private First Class Phong Nga from Nghệ An Province, a coastal fishing village where he learned to fish with his brothers on their father and uncle’s fishing boats.
A three-round burst struck the hapless rifleman. The first round struck the crown of his skull and penetrated deep into his throat. The second round struck the left side of the top of his skull and ripped the lower half of his mandible of as the projectile exited his head. The third round struck him in the shoulder and penetrated past through his lungs tearing through his bowels, ending its track in the meaty portion of his thigh.
Phong Nga would never get back to his boyhood sweetheart, Dung Mai. He would never fish the Tonkin Bay with his father, uncles and brothers. His body lay still in the heat of the jungle within an ever-widening pool of blood rapidly coagulating in the omnipresent sun baking the earth. It was the end of the Young man’s life. His head barely recognizeable from the spattering of bullets that ripped it apart.
I have read everyone's Character Sheets and initiated a Relationships section for Mokra Tem. The only character Mokra Tem knows is Del Quin'jorra. They have been together for the past three years. Instead of writing his perceptions after meeting the characters, I have written his perceptions of the character's skills and/or personality traits. I hope to update this once we get into the Role Play.

Personality: Gunther is conservative but flexible and objective. He attends Catholic mass with his family regularly and attempts a life free from sin. Gunther loves his children and would do anything for them and his wife.
Gunther is a morning person, but that comes from a life of serving in the military. He would rather go to bed early and get up early; prefers to exercise in the morning over working out just before bed. His chief flaw is saying what pops into his head unrestrained without thinking it over before letting fateful words spill out, full-fledged Gryffindor.

Quotes or Sayings: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.” – Winston Churchill paraphrasing George Santayana. “If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.”
Theme Song: Warrior’s Call
Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago.

<div style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division <span class="bb-i">"Yankee"</span> and 29th Infantry Division (Light), <span class="bb-i">"The Blue and the Gray"</span>. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.<br><br>I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.<br><br>When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.<br><br>There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them.
