If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I gave a presentation to fifth graders on "Soldiers of the American Revolution" today.
I just took one of those, "which RPG class are you" quizzes. If you ask me, I would have said, I am a Paladin. I tend to be Lawful Good, I am a protector and there was a time when I wore a badge and carried a sidearm. But this quiz gave me a slightly different answer.

The quiz says I am an Arcane Warrior or Battle Mage. "Congratulations, you are an arcane warrior! (Sometimes referred to as Battlemage.) Warriors, of this persuasion, are fighters who enjoy fighting up-close and personal, but also have an attachment to the arts of magic. This type of warrior often fights with enchanted weapons and armor and is capable of casting low level spells, if learned any. They possess all of the boldness and toughness of normal warriors, alongside the intellect of sorcerers. These are courageous, powerful, and wise fighters."

That sounds about right. I'll take this one. Besides, their site offers a cool image too...

SyFy Original Films are a guilty pleasure of mine. Not because they're good, but because I find it fun to laugh and make fun of terrible movies.

I'd have to agree with you here. I love their ideas for shows, but the acting and directing are crap. Kinda sorta reminds me of some RPs I've been in.
Even though I'm right handed, I prefer to use my left hand for my phone and to hold my cups when I drink from them.
That leaves your right hand free for important stuff. I typically carry everything in my left hand, but that is due to conditioning in the military. The right hand should be left empty to salute any random officers who pop up on you.
Depending one where I am working I wake up at either 5:30 or 5:45. Even if I am not working, I am awake NLT 0600 hours.
I am always saddened by the fact that roleplays suffer from drought then often death. I would like to, some day, find another long ongoing one that does not collapse due to the inactivity of a few, namely because I would like to portray a character or even add one to the particularly closed roster I maintain. Thus it always irks me, to varying extent of course, when people disappear from topics and the rest of all the work invested goes to waste due to their whims. It is more than just etiquette for me, deeper seated than just that superficiality alone as there is just something unfortunate in seeing work go to waste, at least in my eyes.

Why do threads die?
1. The original poster loses interest or is too busy in RL and doesn't have time to continue. It is poor management on the thread moderator's part or they just didn't realize things were going to get hectic in their own lives.

2. Someone has bad connectivity and lose the ability to see the internet let alone post on the RPG site. Their character was pivotal to the plot and they are unable to communicate with the group.

3. A member of the thread is a minor and for whatever reason their parent/guardian has restricted their online activity.

4. The story has fallen flat and no one can come up with an idea to spice it; to pick it up and move forward. It simply dies from a lack of creativity.

5. A toxic member has infiltrated the thread and sours everyone's desire to continue with the story. Often times the toxic person has no idea the damage they have done.

My idea to try to create a story that does not die is to communicate the plot ideas to the group. Refrain from keeping it a secret; hoping the others will be excited because you are surprising them with something special. I have rarely seen that work. If the thread moderator posts a story arc or timeline they want to follow, it gives the contributors direction and an idea in which to take their character. They may choose to follow the arc or to remain outside the arc with the intention of joining up with the main group later in the story. I get the impression many people don't want to publish their ideas too early with the fear the thread may die before their ideas come to fruition or it would doom the thread for too much detail. Some folks don't like to operate in what they call an overly restrictive universe. But alas, the last reason why threads die. Everyone is different and has their own ideas on where they believe the story should go. When things don't go their way, they get bored and move on.

...Oh what a frustrating hobby we ascribe to.
@Raptra nothing much, trying to find motivation to finish this 3D model I'm making. I need to finish the cloths and a few detail bits, but I'm being so lazy.

What sort of model are you building?
I believe this gunfighter video on vimeo is actually quite funny.
When random kids wave at me, I don't wave back.

I always wave back. I prefer to allow the assholes in life teach this lesson. I don't need to contribute to that nonsense. Life is hard. they will figure it out eventually. I spent 21 years in the US Army. I've met my fair share of assholes.

This is why I always include my time zone in my signature. If I come on here and say, "Good morning all!" and everyone is in Europe, they be like, "Morning? It's like mid afternoon here. Stupid Yank."
