Honestly, I don't get the grief given to SAO when there's stuff like Mushoku Tensei where the MC actively lusts for underaged girls. And it's the most popular isekai in Japan.

Also, it's kinda annoying going back and forth writing short replies since I got other stuff to do and that just interrupts my rythm.

Kanako flinched when she witnessed the boy crashed into the image he had made, breaking it in the middle. She certainly didn't mean to startle him like that.

"L-like I've said, I'm Kanako Nagasaki," she answered when the boy gave him his question. "Wind elementalist. And you haven't gave me your name yet."

But the boy didn't. Instead, he seemed to be observing her, staring at her as if she were a piece of painting or something. He even snapped a photo of her with that camera of his.

"You make air," Kanako noticed him saying as he brought his hand close to her.

Make... air? Kanako pondered. She then realized that her hair strands had been moving around without the wind actually blowing. She didn't remember ever experiencing this before, she thought. This should be because of her wind manipulation ability but usually she had to use it consciously for it to take effect. After focusing herself, she indeed felt a light breeze flowing around her.

"You made me break my picture. Say sorry!"

E-eh? was the first thing that came into Kanako's mind when she heard his accusation. She certainly didn't expect him to become so aggressive all of a sudden.

"I-it's your own fault! Y-you got surprised on your own!" she retorted angrily. She didn't like to be accused of something she didn't feel herself guilty for after all.

Then, she noticed something. The boy was still crouching on the floor, looking up at her with a pouting face. And her wind ability was still activating, and it actually was moving something else other than just her hair. The hem of her short skirt was fluttering upwards a little as she stood there with her hands on her waist.

Now it made sense to her why he was watching her so closely to the point of even taking a picture of her.

H-he was looking at her panties!

Kanako's face turned beet red in a flash as she pushed her skirt down with her two hands. Then, she said to the boy with a shaking voice, "Y-you took a picture of my underwear, d-didn't you? D-delete it at once!"

"So this is the Academy. Hmm, not bad, not bad at all! Just as you would expect from a town built by elementalists, I suppose."

Those were the first words Kanako spoke when she first laid her eyes on the city. If she were more of a honest girl, she would've had her eyes sparkle with excitement. It was far different from any place she had ever stayed in her entire life, and she had lived in a lot of places, thanks to those ignorant non-elementalists driving them away. But now, in a city of elementalists like this, she finally had a place where she belonged, with her own kind.

The city was truly most impressive, but the Academy on the mountain beyond was most impressive of it all. And tomorrow, she would start her first school day there, and she was certainly excited in the prospect. Finally, she could learn more about what it entailed on being an elementalist. Sure, there would still be your usual non-elementalist classes like Math and Literature but she could easily manage those classes as her grades before coming here had been stellar.

As she departed from her bus, she was immediately greeted by the couple that would take her in for the night. The city had people offering their dwellings for new students to the Academy before they were sorted to their boarding rooms, another display of the kindness overflowing in this place. The couple that took her in was quite an old one, so she greeted them respectfully just like her parents would want her too.

"Ah, you must be Kanako, am I right?" the old man said.

"She must be, dearie! She's just as pretty as her picture looked!" the old woman continued.

Kanako blushed. She wasn't used at all to her appearance being complimented like this. Even when her own mother called her pretty, she still felt a tad embarrassed by it.

"That outfit looks really good at you indeed!" the old man said.

Kanako looked down on herself. She didn't think her outfit was anything special. But if it pleased the two, she would gladly receive the compliment.

The trip to their home didn't take long at all, as there were barely any traffic jams, if at all. Most people travelled via the train system after all. Their car looked to be an old model, but it was certainly taken care of well. Must be an antique they were really fond of, Kanako presumed. And it was actually a convertible, so now she could feel the gentle breeze of the wind caressing her face and hair as they drove onward.

Their house was quite an ordinary-looking one, though they looked just as clean and neat as their car. It was a simple two story building painted white, with a little balcony in the front. And to her surprise, she was actually going to be given said balcony room. They said the room had been empty ever since their daughter left, so she could feel free to use it like her own room. She certainly felt a little awkward thanks to this revelation. She didn't want to replace their daughter's presence, so at first she politely declined, only for the two to insist. In the end, she relented.

The room she was given was quite spacious. And windy too, as she soon found when she opened the windows. But that's just as she liked it. She was a Wind-elementalist after all.

That day, she didn't go out to explore the city at all as she was tired from the journey to the city. And so, after a nice little dinner of the local delicacy, she slumbered into dreamland; her dreams the most peaceful that they had ever been.

The next morning, after she took her bath, she dressed up in her old school uniform. She knew that the Academy didn't really require its students to wear uniforms, but it just felt wrong for her to show up in her casual attire. And when she went downstairs for her breakfast, once again, the couple praised her looks, which she replied by another blush. After that, they took her to the station, where she could take the tram to the Academy. This was where she first found other students like her. Most of them seemed to be wearing casual clothes, though some of them wore uniforms just like her. She didn't bother chatting one up however, as she preferred to keep to herself, disliking idle chatter. After she sat on her seat for a short while, she heard the announcement saying that all first years that just arrived should depart on this stop. Nice for them to do that, she thought. She could imagine the chaos that could ensue if you got lost here as the Academy was quite large after all.

After departing from the train, someone from the Academy immediately gathered them all and told them to make a line before following him. They were really supervised well, Kanako thought. He then brought them to outside of the central building, an impressive piece of architecture combining stone and wood, making it look like a giant tree when viewed from a distance. That could only be possible by the power of the Elementalists, Kanako convinced herself. No way it could be made with your ordinary and crude architecture methods.

The assembly ended at noon, and now the students were free to go wherever they wanted. Kanako decided that she wanted to see the top floors, as she was told by her parents that wind users would study there. And so she began to climb the long winding staircases upwards. On her way upwards however, she noticed a boy sitting on the middle of a hallway, looking at the mountain beyond the window he was staring into. He seemed to be... drawing? But not in a canvas or anything like that. He just did it in mid-air with his fingers.

"A... light elementalist, are you not?" Kanako blurted out as she stood right behind him, looking at his drawing over his shoulders. "I've never seen one before but I guess that's your affinity."

"A-ah, I'm sorry if I have interrupted you. My name's Kanako Nagasaki, and I'm a Wind Elementalist myself," she added hurriedly.

What places are we talking about here?
Kluuto

When their bout was finished, Kluuto saw the scribbling goblin immediately walking towards Sabu and giving compliments at him and his partner's battle ability. She was quite surprised at the display. She didn't take him as such a bold person.

Kluuto then heard the chief's answer to her and the other goblin's question. So it wasn't exactly magic. For the human, it was a combat art of some sort. For Gabu, it was him utilizing his gift of unleashing and amplifying the latent power inside his body. Apparently, he and the chief had some dragon blood in them. The chief couldn't really use it to his advantage that much but Sabu had the perfect gift to bring out that draconic power.

The chief then also explained where they could learn magic properly. Aya should be able to teach her basic magical theorems. She could also learn from the humans but the fact that the humans seemed to use a type of magic that was unusable for monsters like her seemed quite counterproductive to her. It wouldn't hurt to just know the facts though, just for curiosity's sake.

Kluuto thought about which route she wanted to take first. She could train in that vibration combat art thing or learn basic magic from Aya first. Logically, the latter would be the better option since Aya was a part of the goblin tribe so she should be willing to teach her right away. And besides, she couldn't see herself being a frontline fist to fist fighter.

"Greetings," Kluuto followed, bowing at Sabu and the human woman, "I am Kluuto, one of the newborns. Like Rekzild said (she finally knew his name), that was quite a battle. I've never seen such power before, though I am a newborn after all so that's to be expected..." She scratched her head, not sure how to continue. "And if it's alright with you, I would like to accompany you to your next outing to the human city. My gift is language comprehension so I could understand the human tongue right away and I would like to hone that gift of mine."

Kluuto stood there, a bit tense as she waited for his response. She wasn't sure on the manner she should speak with him. Formal? Or more casual? He was the son of the chief after all.

Kluuto

Kluuto heard the chief's explanation. It seemed there was nothing to worry about and it was just "the usual thing" happening again. So it wasn't going to be a battle of life and death then. So it was just a spar of some sort. Still, Kluuto still gripped her stick tight and stayed close to the chief. She still didn't feel safe enough to watch the two without any protection. And who could blame her, with all the powerful aura the two was firing at each other and their surroundings? And how fast they clashed that Kluuto's eyes couldn't keep up at all? And that loud humming sound? She caught some of their words however. Second Stage, Ignite, angels in a desert; like before, she couldn't make sense of it at all, which was why she was glad that Iris asked about it to the chief. She was quite surprised however that Iris caught some of the words. Perhaps it was because they were spell words, so you didn't have to understand the human tongue to catch it. And speaking of spells, the pretty goblin asked whether she could learn magic from Sabu. Just like her, she had become quite interested in the whole thing after this amazing display of strength from the two parties, no doubt only possible through magic.

"I would also like to learn magic myself," Kluuto said to the chief. "If Sabu could teach me, then that would be great. But if he couldn't, then could you give me some pointers at the very least on where to start?" Kluuto had decided that even if she couldn't find a teacher, she would study magic on her own. Surely, the humans had books written all about it. She could just learn from them, utilizing her gift at the same time for maximum efficiency.

Esther von Degraff

Esther listened as closely as she could to Gradon's instruction. So they had two choices right now, either to advance forward or stay here and wait for the Captain to arrive. Honestly, she was okay with both as her wind barrier could protect them either way. She could use her wind barrier while walking after all, as long as her vessel's boot form was active.

"I can do both!" she replied to him. "I can protect us all with my wind barrier! If we're going to move forward though, we have to do it at a walking pace as while my vessel is in its boots form, I can't really move that fast," she explained further. "I'll leave the decision up to you though! I really don't know about this stuff..." she said while scratching her head, still smiling.

Marianne looked at the hole the skaven made. Pitch black. No doubt the skavens had better eyes that could navigate such a place with easy unlike the human eyes she had. She certainly couldn't just stroll in without any light, which was why she took a torch first with her. With her axe in her right hand and her torch in her left, she entered.

Her steps were certainly slow and cumbersome compared to Siph and Sylvia. Even though she had a torch with her, she couldn't march forward with certainty like Siph could, while Sylvia had the advantage of her sharp eyes that could navigate in the dark well. Her heart for some reason started to beat more frequently as she walked forward. Perhaps it was her battle instinct, she thought to herself. There was something beyond this passage that held immense power.

Her doubt was soon answered when she heard the bell rang. Its terrible noise stroke deep into her very soul, surprising her and making her torch fall to the ground, extinguishing the flame it carried. Her eyes widened as she crouched down, covering her ears with both of her hands. Cold sweat dampened her dress once more as her entire body shook. The noise... the noise was so... so horrid. It was definitely worse than Grendrick's shout of terror.

Doom. That word filled her entire mind.

Marianne stayed like that for as long as the bell echoed, and even some time after that. Only after she regained her composure then she rose up from her crouching position, with her body still shaking from the terror. Her panicked mind urged her, pleaded to her to retreat, as they told her that whoever made that noise was something she couldn't even dream to conquer. Doom still echoed in her thoughts. And the darkness surrounding her certainly didn't help. She tried as hard as she could to calm her mind down but even her rational mind told her that she would certainly have difficulties if she had to fight an opponent as strong as the Stormvermin, if not more, as she no longer had her mantis available to use. In the end, she rationalized that she should regroup with the others still behind her as the opponent at the end of this passage was something they should all tackle together.

And so she turned back. And this time she actually ran instead of walking. She didn't get far however before she bumped into something, making her fall to the ground. However, that something soon spoke, revealing the familiar voice of Fariha.

Esther heard Gerhardt's rallying shout, and then Leon's own shout giving his readiness to follow with his plan. She was filled with hesitation. Should she join them down there? Safety in numbers was one of the most basic teachings of the academy after all. But for her, who wasn't really used to battle at all, jumping into the middle of the fight sound like a suicidal move.

Thankfully, the enemy kindfully nudged her along to her choice, by having some of their riflemen aiming at her. She let a loud "Eeep!" as she covered her head with her hands before crouching to the ground, as a futile attempt to escape the bullets heading towards her, even though the wind barrier created by her vessel blocked all of their attacks just fine. Like I said, she still was not used to this whole war business.

With her being a target like this, she might as well join the others. At least that way she could take off some steam from herself. And so she quickly transformed her vessel back to its dormant state, used its power to do a far leap right towards where Gerhardt and Leon were. It should've made her vulnerable for any bullets that happened to cross her paths, but the riflemen targeting her certainly did not expect her to do such a bold move. And so she landed relatively safely; relatively since due to her nervousness she botched her landing and tripped as her feet touched the ground, making her fall face first to the ground. It would be a hilarious scene if not for the fact that they were in the middle of a life and death battle now.

"A-ah, I-I'm sorry!" she said to Gerhardt and Leon after she stood up on her feet once more. "I really need to be less clumsy..." she said to herself, though loud enough for the two to hear.

"A-anyway, what's the battle plan? I'm willing to do anything you order me too!" she continued. She never saw herself as a good strategist, or a good thinker in general, so she thought she should leave the thinking to the others.

Kluuto

@Moonlit Sonata
As Kluuto walked beside the chief, she listened attentively to the explanations he was giving. First of all, he explained how the trees in this forest were special, far stronger than your usual ordinary trees. They were the commodity the goblins were trading with the humans, who really wanted the strong wood the trees produced. He also explained that there were other ways you could make money in the human world. like selling pelts or furs, working in a human establishment, or even taking odd jobs from the adventurers' guilds. And apparently, Sabu belonged the said guild. Well, Kluuto thought, if Sabu could work there, then she could work there too. She made a mental note to check it out later.

After that, he explained about Knoth and Anekanta, and the other, lesser gods. Interesting information to be sure, but nothing really relevant to her for now. She was curious though about the goddess named En. What happened back then that made her become sealed away, she wondered?

The pretty goblin then asked about how the chief had evolved. Kluuto's ears perked up. She was certainly interested in this evolution thing. If she could transform to a better, stronger monster, then she certainly would take the option. She had no plans on staying a goblin forever after all. She just had to know the easiest way she could do it.

Unfortunately, the chief cut their conversation short as they had arrived at their destination.

There were two figures standing facing each other in front of them. One of them Kluuto knew was Sabu, just by the way he looked. The other one however was a human woman in a business attire. This was the first time Kluuto saw a human, but for some reason, she was already familiar with the way she looked. The two stood there facing each other with an ominous atmosphere around them. Kluuto could sense the power emanating from them. She knew she wouldn't want to get involved in whatever was going to happen.

Kluuto then heard them spoke. Even though she could make out the words, she didn't understand what they meant. Pulses, aligns, factors; all those terms were alien to her. So she could only stand there watching cautiously at the two. The other goblins noticed the tension too, and the pretty goblin announced that the two would probably fight each other real soon as she took a branch from the ground, most likely as a makeshift weapon. Seeing that, Kluuto snapped out of her daze as she took her own sharp-looking branch before slowly backing off near where the chief was standing.
