Honestly, I don't get the grief given to SAO when there's stuff like Mushoku Tensei where the MC actively lusts for underaged girls. And it's the most popular isekai in Japan.

Also, it's kinda annoying going back and forth writing short replies since I got other stuff to do and that just interrupts my rythm.

Esther von Degraff

Esther soon calmed down after seeing her comrades going after the snatched medic. Ghost or not, there was no way they would be able to handle all of them at once. She had utmost faith in the skills of her teammates after all.

However, said calmness turned into panic once more as wolves out of nowhere attacked next. It seemed fate didn't wish to give them a break at all.

"W-wolves?" she said once she recognized the threat. With their limited sight, it shouldn't be that odd that the creatures managed to ambush them as they were split apart.

One of them leaped towards her, fang wide open as it aimed to bite her neck off. She had no time to change her vessel into combat mode so she had to respond by leaping away from the creature. Her panicked jump made her land straight on her butt however, sending off a signal to the wolf that she was vulnerable once more. It ran straight at her once more, merciless and without any hesitation. However, Esther had enough time to activate her vessel this time, so when the wolf leaped at her, it crashed into her wind barrier, causing it to whimper as it felt pain from the impact.

"Hrrgh, this is the worst day ever!" Esther shouted to no one in particular, just to fend off her frustration.

With animals, especially predators like wolves, Esther had no hesitation. She retaliated by sending off a wind blade towards the creature. It actually managed to dodge however, but it was enough to send a signal that the girl was actually a threat, so the beast now merely growled as it circled around her, looking for an opening to attack.

Esther looked around in the meantime. It seemed she had been separated from the others. She just hoped the others were alright. She looked back at the wolf again. As she felt a bead of sweat roll through her cheek, she told herself that she could handle this one guy just fine. No need to panic.

...And then, another pair of wolves came into her sight, making it three wolves now that she had to fight.

Really, what did she do wrong to deserve this?

Hmm, I have no idea what Kanako would be doing at midnight.
Unfortunately, Iria didn't get to hear Seiko's answer as right afterwards the club president continued her speech. Quickly, she returned to her seat.

"The purpose of this club is twofold. The first is to discuss matters of the occult, whether they be theories one has, experiences one has had, or otherwise. However, this discussion is meant to be grounded in rationality and fact. I assure you that this being an occult club does not mean that we will disregard science or perpetuate baseless theories. Conjecture and theory are fine and are welcome, but throwing baseless ideas at a wall to see what sticks is not."

Sounds fine, she thought. She liked how the club had a vision on how it would operate. It showed that it was more than just a hangout for people who loved the occult.

"The second purpose of this club is one that I am sure will help the skeptics of this room: interaction with the occult. I do not expect many of you to simply take me at my word when I assert the existence of ghosts, nor should you. At the same time, it's only reasonable for this club to have some actual hands-on interaction with our subject matter. The Halloween Extravaganza will be our first of such experiences, in which we will enter the school after-hours. I've been monitoring spiritual output, and have good reason to believe that a very weak ghost, in other words a soul lacking a proper container, will be capable of some minor physical manifestation on that night; this shouldn't be anything more than being able to see and converse with it, though, so do not worry. Make sure that you take a waiver, and either that your parents or yourself if you're eighteen sign it and get it to me at or prior to the event."

Now this, this is interesting. It seemed the president truly believed that she had found a real ghost, albeit a really weak one. If she was not mistaken, this could be a really big deal. She could truly prove to the scientific world that ghosts really did exist. And that would pretty much turn the current scientific theories upside down.

...But of course, she doubted it would ever come to that. The farthest it would go would probably be some creepy figures from a distance, voices out of nowhere, and other questionable stuff like that. You couldn't parade them to the scientific world for sure.

"Ah, yes, one question: how exactly are you measuring this spiritual output? And what constitutes a "proper" container for a soul?" Ai asked. Ah, that was a good question. She was also curious about those.

Ignoring the religious ramblings of Yoshi, she couldn't understand most of them anyways, she continued hearing the next question, which was asked by her friend Yuki.

"I'm only just wondering... if we supposedly meet a ghost, and that's a pretty big if, what would you do? And if there are supernatural forces, or demons as Yoshi claimed, do you have any protection in your arsenal that could help us?" Yuki asked.

...Hmm, she didn't expect Yuki to ask a question like that. Could it be that she was scared of ghosts? She certainly didn't seem like the type. From all the times she had known her, she had always been a brave one. Well, everyone had their weakness, she supposed.

"Could it be that you're scared of ghosts, Yuki?" she whispered to her with a slightly mischievous smile.

Kluuto

So this is the human city... I feel somewhat nostalgic looking at it...

Kluuto stood behind Sabu as he talked with the two guards guarding the gate to the city. It would make sense that they would have a security like that, seeing how there were a lot of dangerous monsters nearby. She heard about the spell marker and it could be a nice and easy way to prevent and punish crimes. However, she wondered if every city resident had it or it was just for foreigners. She heard Iris mumbling that they probably only gave it to goblins like them. Well, she herself didn't really mind it that much, but the invasion of privacy could certainly be a problem. Trading freedom for security. Perhaps the humans had to do it in this harsh world.

This girl... truly is shameless! Putting cameras in locker rooms? That's just outright voyeurism. Not to mention she puts cameras in the male locker room too. Truly and utterly shameless! This means that she potentially would have dirty pics of every student in the school! She's even worse than she originally thought!

Such were the thoughts that floated inside Iria's head as she heard Seiko's admission of guilt. Now she wished she hadn't turned down the offer to become student council president. That way, she would have power to confront this... this shameless menace to society!

But now, she can only smile back awkwardly.

"Sure! I look forward to being your friend! But uhm.... What are you taking pictures of in the locker rooms?"

That's it, Ena! That's a great question! Now let's see how Miss Journalist would respond.

Hmm, this man is also a teacher? He certainly doesn't give off that aura. I wonder how his speech will go.

Those were Kanako's thoughts as the next person rose up to the podium. She immediately felt like she wouldn't like this person, just from the way he stared and the way he carried himself. She certainly hoped that she wouldn't get him as her teacher.

And then, all hell broke loose.

Kanako could only watch in awe as the man insulted everyone in the assembly before turning over the podium with his foot. After that, he just left like he had done nothing wrong.

And amazingly enough, the headmaster then closed the ceremony like usual, as if nothing had happened.

What is up with this school?

After the ceremony was over, Kanako headed straight to the dorms along with the other students, just like they had been instructed to. The one that would guide them was not a teacher however, but instead a water elemental. It was the first time for Kanako to see something like that so in a way that was out of character for her, she pushed away the other students just so she could see it up close.

And once she reached the dormitories, her amazement still continued with how lavish everything was. Of course, just as she now had expected from the academy, there would always be something unique or odd accompanying that lavishness, and with the dorms, it was how the students had added their own marks upon the dormitory's outer walls. She wasn't really that fond of the clashing drawings, but she had to admit, it was certainly memorable and unique.

"Here's your key, miss."

Finally, that took long enough, she thought. She had to fall in line with the other students as one by one they signed their names before receiving their key.

Arriving at her room, she saw that nobody was there, meaning her roommate hadn't arrived yet.

Well, might as well rest while waiting for her.

After taking off her shoes, she immediately threw herself into her bed. It was indeed as fluffy as it looked.

Esther quickly calmed down at Gradon's warm and comforting touch, and that made her realize that she had been clinging into the boy's arm, even to the point of pushing her breasts to him. Esther's face quickly reddened as she released her grip at him and said, "I-I'm sorry! I-it's just that I hear voices out of nowhere and no one else seems to be hearing it! A-and it sounds like a crying child so I think it must be a spirit of a dead child that has perished here in the past!" She bowed deeply towards the boy. Anything to stave off her embarrassment.

Suddenly, she saw Althea, who had joined them to ask what was all the fuss about, yanked away from the group, as if an invisible force had taken grip of her.

"A-Althea!" Esther shouted. "O-oh no, t-the ghost got her!" Esther felt like she wanted to cry. This was straight out of a horror novel, where the ghost would slowly take out the group one by one by separating them.
