I'll make sure to be handing out pointers about character sheets through the upcoming weeks but feel free to take your time. Don't forget to join the Discord!
Updated 0th post with the Recruitment Ad. It's hastily written and not very professional, somewhat questionable even. But it does have a semi-decent draw-in towards the end that might attract people. Otherwise you get the impression that this is clearly written by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
Lyveva Gwennael - Current leader of The Blessed Twelve, she inherited the position shortly after Aidric's death.
Officers
Koko Kha - Currently the member with the longest tenure and one of the original members, Koko is a serious, no-nonsense woman with a sharp tongue. Her travels over the years have given her much experience and knowledge.
Suki Meediri - Caretaker of The Blessed Twelve, she makes sure to greet everyone with a warm smile.
Members of The Blessed Twelve will have different kinds of quests. All Main Scenario Quests will be highlighted and given out by the appropriate NPC. By exploring the world and talking to NPCs, there are two other kinds of quests to be found: Major Side Quests and Minor Side Quests. While all quests do give out some form of reward, most Major Side Quests lead to better rewards (stronger gear, character interactions, new spells/skills) while Minor Side Quests have handy, but not needed features (mounts, extra gil, meals, direct teleportation to certain places). All quests will be present in the 0th post along with the appropriate NPC to start it.
All Playable Characters have the convenience of teleporting so long as they have visited the area. There are no fees as the FC covers them. There are always other methods of travel available (airship, carriages, boat). That said, only certain NPCs are able to teleport.
The Blessed Twelve has taken responsibility and provides lodging and home cooked meals for all its members and affiliates. They also foot the bill for most adventuring expenses--anything not covered will have to be provided by the adventurer. That said, rumor has it that there's a former member of the Free Company that is currently a wealthy omnicrafter and is willing to create new weapons in exchange for hard-to-get materials...
If Eris breathed naturally, he would have exhaled in relief. Fortunately he didn't have to deal with that inconvenience and was able to play it cool, although he couldn't help his own small smile. He really couldn't help himself around Varis, all too pleased that the redhead wouldn't make him plead too much. Not that he minded at this point in time, it wouldn't be any fun if he was just given what he wanted. The challenge was fun, although he swore he could have possibly developed the first vampire headache in history with just how mouthy the mages had been in this case.
As much as Eris appreciated Varis' offer, however, he would have to adjust it. If he went back to the dorm now, he'd take way too much time trying to inspect every corner and go through his luggage to ensure everything had arrived. His only actual concern was the small pup that had laid down on the counter, curled up in a small ball snoozing away. He was sure even the grumpy kid could manage to not kill the little thing in one day. Hopefully. Otherwise he'd have to start all over.
Backing away from the redhead, Eris looked around for Maxwell. He'd probably want to rid himself of the fangirl sooner than later, so he expected him to come up any moment now. "Better yet, let's relieve ourselves of the headache sooner than later," He replied cheerfully, carefully scooping Maxie up. "I'll be just a moment."
Fortunately for him, it didn't take long to sense the air of irritation, with Maxwell's grumpy looking mug revealing itself sooner than later. Putting on a brilliant and way-too-happy smile, the actor wouldn't bother saying anything, instead simply bringing up Maxwell's hand and pressing Maxie onto it. "All set? Let's take care of you, then," He stated as he strolled to the counter, throwing a wink at the cashier as he rummaged through his briefcase for a second. He looked down at the simple bracelet that had been chosen. Plain, boring, and predictable. Ugh, he was going to have to add 'fashion sense' to the list.
Swiping his black card once prompted, he sincerely thanked the cashier before turning back to Maxwell and Maxie, whose tail was wagging. "Right, then. You're free to do as you please so long as you watch my little Maxie," He said as he grabbed his bag. "She needs to be taken out every four to five hours, will need to eat at least one more time before she goes to bed, and has to be brushed at least once so that she gets used to the sensation. Everything you need will be in a red bag sitting on the kitchen counter--and she'll be very anxious so make sure she stays with you and sleeps in your room whenever you call it a night." He gave Max a wink and walked off without giving the mage a chance to refuse or offer any rebuttal, his smile a mile wide.
Returning to the redhead's side, Eris flashed him a grin. "After you," He told Varis.
I'd like in on this one. I saw the link for the OOC at the bottom of the site and it brought me all here.
Since I don't see any Rezmages. I don't even see any healers, so I can try to fill a blank role. Ala Mhigan Miqote RedMage (the class would have to be tweaked a bit), or a noncannon disciple of the wandering red Mage Teacher... something like that so I'm not in my forties.
All Hail Ultros!
Most everyone is posting in the OOC and has PM'd me ideas. That said, as I mention in the OOC I'm loosening the lore around jobs for simplicity's sake.
Five years ago, the land was brought to the brink of destruction. With the descent of Bahamut, king of dragons and elder primal, the Battle of Cartenau was met with a rather decisive end. He ravaged and destroyed the land beneath him, taking countless lives and reshaping continents. In present time, adventurers are a common breed, doing their part to return the land to its former glory. Escorting merchants, making deliveries, and exterminating monsters are just a few things those with skill do in their efforts to help. The Grand Companies of the Eorzean Alliance suffered grave losses at the Battle of Carteneau. Bahamut's wrath cost the Grand Companies countless troops, and of those who survived, many reportedly deserted the battlefield.
When the dust of the Calamity had settled, it became apparent that consolidating the strength of the Grand Companies was imperative. The resurgence of the Garlean threat could not be ignored; the Grand Companies needed to replenish their troops to ensure the safety of the realm. And so, in an effort to bolster their forces and encourage the cooperation of adventurers, the Eorzean Alliance sanctioned the creation of free companies—mercenary groups that would serve as an extension of the Grand Companies.
Both established and operated by adventurers, these new organizations require little if any contribution from the Grand Companies to sustain them. Moreover, their contracts are formed on an individual basis, making the assembly of troops against opposing threats swift and efficient. By the decree of the council of the Alliance leadership, adventurers are now free to lend their aid to any Grand Company, transferring their allegiance as they please, and as a result, provide the Alliance with the manpower it needs. As the forces that threaten Eorzea continue to grow, the policies of this new system will allow adventurers to undertake such duties as transcend political boundaries.
Our story begins with a posting at each Adventurer's Guild, calling for aid for a Free Company identifying itself as the Blessed Twelve...
This RP will be taking place five years after Bahamut threw his temper tantrum following the events of the Blessed Twelve, a small group of adventurers recruited for some adventuring shenanigans. This is firmly in AU territory, with a majority of canon characters doing their own thing. What I'd like is for the party to be made up of moderately fresh faced adventurers, people who have some experience under their belt but nothing world-saving just yet.
For those that are aware of the MMO, the RP is going to turn a blind eye to some job lore; I'd like it if people had jobs already without going through the classes. That said, almost everything else is going to try to stick to the world's lore. Want to be from Doma? Sure, tell me how you got to Eorzea. Want to replace or be related to a major NPC from the game? PM me, let's see what we can do. I'm open to ideas and the like so long as you understand my word is final.
For those unaware of the MMO, it's an expansive world rich with culture and more lore than your local library can handle. From dungeons to politics to even the surprisingly dark atmosphere on a world that nearly ended, Hydaelyn is one where magic is prominent and commonly seen, though there are plenty of warriors that prefer swinging weapons. Because of how massively detailed the game is, a quick Google search (or you can ask me since this game and Square Enix own my soul) should answer any questions you might have.
tl;dr FFXIV RP starting out as saplings and havin a good time
“And though the Land is riven and the Heavens torn asunder, It is from this Chaos that our bonds are given strength.” —Scarlet Lancer Field Marshal Ealdic the Pious
Gridania is one of the city-states located on the Aldenard continent. It is located in the midst of the Black Shroud, a dense forest also known as the Twelvewoods that serves to filter out those hostile toward the Elementals and those in cooperation with them. Gridania is by far the most unified of the city-states. Its guilds all work in cooperation with each other under the guiding hand of Kan-E-Senna, who brought back the Order of the Twin Adder.
In the eastern reaches of the Aldenard landmass, home to vast, dense woodlands and coursing rivers, lies the forest nation of Gridania. The cityscape is a mosaic of labyrinthine waterways and great wooden structures, so gracefully constructed they seem a part of the surrounding environment.
The Gridanian emphasis on natural harmony has led to its preeminence among Eorzea's city-states in trades such as forestry, agriculture, carpentry, and leatherworking. Gridania is also home to the Wood Wailers, a militant band of polearm-wielding sentries charged with the protection of their homeland.
The favored goddess of the citizenry is Nophica, the Matron, but great faith is also placed in the wisdom of the Seedseers—young oracles who guide the nation based on the will of the forest's elementals.
The elementals in the Twelvewoods around Gridania pervade all aspects of Gridanian culture. The Gridanians respect, and even fear, the elementals for the power they wield, and appease or communicate with the elementals through festivals and ritual dance. The elementals in the woods guard and watch over observant Gridanians, and would normally control creatures of the forest and use them to attack outsiders. A sort of barrier called the Hedge prevents outsiders from being subject to this violent elemental nature, called "woodsin" or "woodwrath". The Hedge occasionally falters, however, and when it does, those affected with woodwrath need to be purified through ritual dance.
Limsa Lominsa is an independent marine city-state. Located on the southern coast of the island Vylbrand, Limsa Lominsa is a bustling port and pirate hideout.
On the southern coast of the island of Vylbrand, under the shadow of ancient cliffs worn by the relentless onslaught of the Rhotano Sea, lies the marine city-state of Limsa Lominsa. Said to be blessed by the goddess of navigation, Llymlaen, the city is spread out over countless tiny islands, each connected by sturdy bridges of iron and wood construction, earning her the name the "Navigator's Veil" from traveling bards who have witnessed the city's beauty from afar.
Limsa Lominsa is a traditional thalassocracy, with power lying in the hands of the ruling party and its leader—Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn. Its economy is driven by shipbuilding, fishing, and blacksmithing, but the majority of wealth comes from the lucrative shipping industry.
To maintain the safety of its maritime routes, the city employs a formidable navy known as the Knights of the Barracuda, but even in the waters nearby the city, pirate bands run rampant, raving and pillaging. Admiral Merlwyb reinstated The Maelstrom to combine the forces of the Knights, conscripted pirates, and adventurers into a land-and-sea army to combat the Garlean Empire and the encroaching Sahagin of the Indigo Deep.
Ul'dah is a city-state located in the deserts of southern Aldenard. It is the most wealthy of the city-states, its flag bearing scales as a symbol of their commercial significance in Eorzea. The city-state was once exclusively populated by Lalafell, and the royal family is of this race, but the prospect of wealth attracted all peoples from across the world. The majority of the Syndicate members are Lalafell.
The bustling commercial hub of Ul'dah sits amid the desolate desert landscape of southern Aldenard. The city is organized strategically around the dome-shaped citadel at the center. Its towering fortifications and protective outer walls are visible for malms in all directions to deter would-be besiegers.
Visitors from every corner of Eorzea come to Ul'dah to partake of the city's famed recreation, most notably the fighting arenas and gambling halls. Ul'dahic culture is known for its affluence, and the nation's wealth largely comes from its abundant mineral resources and prestigious clothcrafting industry.
Historically, the sultan claims sovereignty over Ul'dah, but true power is wielded by the Syndicate, an elite group of six of the most influential and richest members of society. Nald'thal is the city's patron deity and two great halls devoted to his two aspects are found in the eastern and western sections of the city.
The life of an adventurer is the pursuit of fortune and fame and devoting oneself to seeking out danger and glory. It is an endless quest taken up by the most intrepid and dauntless of souls.
The term came into popular use among Eorzeans little more than a decade ago. Left idle by the onset of the Age of Calm, a leading mercenary officer gathered a number of trusted companions to form a guild dedicated to the common cause of aiding the realm. Outside the modest station of their humble beginnings, a simple sign hung for all to see―Adventurers' Guild.
The Adventurers' Guild has since spread, and is now found in each of the realm's great nations. Eorzeans come with their myriad pleas and requests and adventurers heed the call, whether it be slaying of foul beast plaguing the countryside, or the crafting of wares demanding a master's touch.
Originally named for the original twelve members who had an uncanny sense of luck among them, the Free Company was once bustling and filled with adventurers of all types. The Calamity claimed several of its members, including its former leader, leading to their numbers dwindling. These days only a handful of members remain, its leadership in question as a post has gone out recently in an attempt to get some recruits to keep the Company alive. Their most notable members include a master crafter whose fortune is rumored to have come from gambling and a no-nonsense scholar from foreign lands.
Typical RPG standards, including 'don't be a douche' and respecting my position as GM. What I say goes, which is about as threatening as a level 10 Treant considering how much of a softie I am. That said, I'm not a big fan of unruly people or those who start issues, and I'm pretty particular about having believable characters that fit the setting.
Looking for at least one post every two weeks. There will be something to occupy faster posters, but otherwise this is what I'm expecting as the bare minimum.
Lore is to be followed, but we can be flexible about it depending on what you want. I'm already bending it with jobs and the like. The wiki does a decent job explaining things and you can always ask me anything, my DMs/PMs are always open. That said, I don't expect everyone to speak as old fashioned as characters do in-game, but I do expect some effort when it comes to mannerisms and phrases.
I'm looking for a small to medium cast, and this will NOT be first come first serve. Don't take it hard if you're not accepted, I'm just looking for a crew that will work off one another. I'm looking at a August 25th deadline.
Despite starting off the roleplay as a light, fun adventure, the world of Hydaelyn is not a kind one. Mature themes and sensitive topics may be touched upon, if you're not into that sort of thing, this is the heads up.
Communicate. Things happen, if you can't make the deadline or don't understand something, please speak up. I want this to be a fun experience for everyone. Feel neglected? Let me know, we'll drag you into the adventure. Want a subplot of your own? Sure, let's plan one out. Would rather stay back and ride out the story with others while memeing most of the way? You got it. If you've stayed with me this far, include your character's favorite dish in the Other section.
[SUB][U]NAME[/U][/SUB] Please try to stick to traditional naming conventions that follow both your race and clan, if you have questions you need only ask! [SUB][U]RACE[/U][/SUB] All playable races are up for grabs. If other races interest you, please PM me first so we can properly discuss [SUB][U]CLAN[/U][/SUB] This helps with lore and the like [SUB][U]BIRTHPLACE[/U][/SUB] Any Eorzean place is alright, if you're not from Eorzea, make sure to specify please! (I'll also expect an explanation on how/when you came to Eorzea in your history as well) [SUB][U]OCCUPATION[/U][/SUB] Mercenary? Hunter? Bartender? Spoony Bard? Crafting bitch? What do you do when you aren't slaying monsters? [SUB][U]SOUL CRYSTAL[/U][/SUB] This is essentially what class/job you are, I'd like some diversity in this and there are plenty of them to choose from [SUB][U]APPEARANCE[/U][/SUB] In-game screenshots are okay, fanart is fine. If using anything else, try to make sure it blends in with the FFXIV aestethic (which leans more towards traditional fantasy as opposed to modern fantasy) [SUB][U]PERSONALITY[/U][/SUB] This can be brief if you'd like, something that gives a brief idea on what your character is like [SUB][U]BIOGRAPHY[/U][/SUB] The Calamity changed the land and countless people's lives. How did it affect yours? You can be as detailed or brief as you would like, if there are any secrets or hidden pasts please make sure to PM me! [SUB][U]OTHER[/U][/SUB] Any other tidbits that don't belong in the other categories [SUB][U]REASON FOR ENLISTMENT[/U][/SUB] What I would like for this section is a sample of your writing. It can be however long or short as you want, I would like it to be the moment your character hears about The Blessed Twelve Free Company and why they decide to join.
Standing at just shy of an inch over six feet, Ray is a well toned if somewhat lanky man. His carpet of light brown hair is constantly in disarray; despite the wide variety of hair products in the world, he has yet to properly tame it without spending longer than he really cares to on it. His bangs are constantly over his golden-brown eyes, though he seldom bothers brushing them aside. His body is fit and he feels that he's nearing his peak physically since if he's not home or working he's likely at the gym. That said, there's a hint of shadows under his eyes and he constantly complains about his neck hurting.
Personality Ray feels and acts like a cranky old man, or so he says. Easily irritable, often wanting nothing to do with anyone, and sometimes dozing off randomly does give some merit to his claim. He is mostly keeps to himself though he's more than willing to socialize, only becoming less rough when he has more familiarity. The gruff doesn't bother hiding his opinions or true feelings, preferring to be upfront with his words whenever he does decide to talk. His priority first and always is his career, and if it weren't for stupid labor laws he would spend all his time working if he could. There is a muted passion whenever his interest is seen as he comes to life, putting in effort when needed and often tunnel visioning.
Biography Born and raised in New York, New York and not knowing much of the world outside it, Raymundo is the first child of Maribel and Edgar Parker. His mother's favorite joke is that Ray has been grumpy since the day he was born. He had no real reason to be, but he apparently took after his stern grandfather. His parents were middle class workers who were eager to start a family and share their happiness with their children. At the very least, his younger siblings matched their parents' aptitude, though Ray did feel some semblance of loneliness because of it. Nonetheless he grew up in a loving home, only occasionally feeling some odd sensation once in a while that he never understood but often put aside.
It wasn't until he was older that he was properly told about being Fragmented. The very first thought that popped up in his head was how stupid it all sounded. The stories of Reunited and their accomplishments were often seen as success stories, but for Ray personally, he really saw no benefit to it. He liked his life, he loved his family and despite his normally sour attitude, he genuinely felt that he was happy enough as it was. Being Lost was a huge inconvenience, but really, he didn't know any other Fragmented, let alone the one he was paired with. He felt that he was fine on his own and he could ignore the feeling of longing while he figured out his life first.
Becoming an officer wasn't his first choice; growing up he was driven by a desire to help people the same way his father, a trauma surgeon, did. That said, burdening himself with debt wasn't appealing, and so he looked to other avenues to help people. During high school he worked with his counselor on a few options, though with his athleticism and good moral compass, he was gently pushed towards becoming a police officer. Maybe if he couldn't help people after they got hurt, he could do what he could to prevent them getting hurt in the first place. Once he graduated he decided to go for it and enrolled in the police academy.
He ended up liking it a lot more than he originally thought, deciding to give himself a few goalposts while ignoring the increasing feeling that felt like it was literally tugging at him. Once he graduated the police academy, he did get to see his fair share of cases and ended up shadowing a K9 officer by the name of Klein. Admittedly Ray was more enthusiastic in taking his guidance solely due to getting the chance to have his own police dog someday. While both Klein and his dog Buddy would retire, getting to adopt Buddy cemented his career path.
By some kind of dumb luck, just when he felt like he wasn't able to ignore that annoying longing anymore, he received an invitation of sorts. A free vacation and he gets to bring his dog along while finally solving an emotional headache? Seemed a little too good to be true, but he wasn't about to pass it up if it meant getting rid of the problem.
Other The odd, out-of-place green streaks seen in his hair came from what was supposed to be a casual night out with his team that quickly turned into drunken shenanigans. He heard that removing dye sometimes causes hair loss and prefers to just grow them out. He is half Puerto Rican and half white. He speaks and understands Spanish alright, but doesn't utter a word of it unless asked. He's currently trying to quit smoking after learning dogs can get lung cancer from second-hand smoke. Buddy is his dog, he is ten years old and retired from the police force earlier this year. When his handler passed on the opportunity to adopt him, Ray jumped on the chance.

Name 藤岡 栞 [Fujioka Shiori] | Shiori Fujioka
Age 21
Gender Female
Sexuality Heterosexual
Appearance
There isn't a single jet-black hair on her head or an inch of her porcelain skin that isn't meticulously taken care of. Her nails are always manicured, eyebrows perfectly plucked, and she goes well out of her way to take excellent care of her (arguably) perfect body both with diet and exercise. Everything she wears is specifically chosen to compliment her skin and winter tones while maximizing her fabulousness; she has the body to wear anything she pleases and she takes full advantage of it. Heroutfitsrangebuttheyareallcuteandfashionable. Her makeup is usually on the lighter side, but if she's feeling adventurous she'll made it pop.
Personality Perky and inhumanely upbeat, Shiori Fujioka is a name most people won't go forgetting once they meet. She comes off as friendly and charming, though there is a certain cluelessness and tone-deaf pattern when it comes to certain topics. Being in the spotlight is a burden she carries very well, more than happy to keep the topic on herself and her multitude of whimsical stories about her past experiences. As a young adult she is somewhat immature and more than willing to throw money at whatever problems arise; it makes the world go round so it can solve any issues, too, right? Quick to judge and quicker to speak her mind (even if no one asked), she definitely gives off the image of a spoiled heiress. Shiori doesn't seem to be able to handle being alone for too long. She doesn't take it well when ignored, either, looking for other avenues for attention. While it'll likely be a cold day in hell before she ever admits it, the idea of ending up a nobody terrifies her to no end. It's easy to bury herself in her belongings or wealth or even a person so long as she satisfies her needs.
Biography Ushio Fujioka and Kaori Wataba were a pair of Fragmented souls destined for one another. With Wataba Software Engineering at its peak and the Fujioka Corporation looking to cement its place as the best technology company in Japan, their reunion spelled out great things for both companies. Of course, there was also the elation the two experienced, being one another's missing puzzle piece meant that happily ever after was all but guaranteed. Ushio was a stern man softened by his new wife while Kaori was content in being a trophy wife wholly dedicated to her husband, the pair's bond widely publicized and milked for all the good publicity it was worth. After years of a blissful marriage (and timed when the pair could take a break from their busy lives), they decided to start a family.
Spoiled even before she was born, Shiori didn't stand a chance against the wealth and luxury she was born into. Her every need was attended to the second the opened her mouth and she was given only the best: the top tutors, designer clothes, skincare procedures that could be used as a down payment for a home for most people. Everything about her life was out in the open, albeit for a majority of her life she felt like she was just floating along for the ride. Despite the image of having a picture perfect family, it became obvious during her teenage years that despite being living proof of her parents' love, they were more interested in sustaining their marriage than actually raising their children.
The neglect resulted in a lonely and sheltered upbringing, with Shiori relying on her nannies for parental support. Instead of producing a naive heiress, however, they created what the Yakima Academy for Girls called a monster. Talented and beautiful, it was easy for her to amass a following both in school and on social media, relying heavily on the validation of others. Being Fragmented only added to it; obviously she was destined for a soulmate, one that would be bound to her for life, one that couldn't leave or ignore her no matter what. If it was romantic or platonic then perfect, although even an antagonistic one meant that she actually meant something to someone. But until she found them, she would happily live her carefree life doing as she pleased.
When the letter arrived, she had initially assumed that it was some sort of sweepstakes she had won or something. After receiving some clarification, she decided that it was an opportunity to find her soulmate and a killer chance to have a celebration in such a prestigious location. It was basically a giant party to her, and so she bought an entirely new wardrobe, packed them into several bags, and booked a private flight there. Ready or not, Shiori Fujioka was coming!
Other She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at the insistence of her father. She is the second highest non-actor/non-singer followed on Instagram. Supposedly she's something of a fashion guru, but many know the heiress is known due to her father's company. Despite being born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, she is known to frequent Beverly Hills, California once in a while. While there are an array of rumors as to why, she goes there when she wants to be invisible for once.
