Hexaflexagon (Concept)
In geometry, flexagons are flat models, usually constructed by folding strips of paper, that can be flexed or folded in certain ways to reveal faces besides the two that were originally on the back and front.


Hexaflexagon (Person?)
Academic who somehow got conned into working for the Government. Been role-playing both on forums and TTRPGs for close to twenty years at this point. I'm like 99% retired from active RPing on the Guild, but I still like to poke my head onto here once in a while to make sure that I didn't leave the lights on.

A P P E R A N C E


Setzer stands as a figure forged by harsh and unrelenting discipline. A prominent bone structure and ironclad muscular proportions are highlighted beneath skin of pale tones; worn and cracked by a patchwork series scars the most prominent the Lichtenberg figures running up his hands and to his shoulders a dark red in color. Like all members of WARDEN the boy's body stands at the premiere and pinnacle level of fitness with the musculature of a WARDEN beaten into the body through endless hours of unrelenting training pushing the body to the breaking point and beyond it again and again. Yet Setzer's own body stands even further away from the pack pushing against the relentless march of entropy and stagnation with his own routine of weight training and seemingly endless cardio that he prides himself upon. This self-endowed physical prowess being something that he created himself through tenuous hard work through blood and sweat.

The rest of his outward appearance serve as fractured glimpses at the soul that resides within. Eyes are of a darker shade of green almost falling into brown in their pigmentation. The eyes though betray the appearance that his body so forth presents rather than possessing an outward harshness or severity to the world they seem to sparkle with flecks of human kindness and understand that lay hidden somewhere beyond the rough outer shell. Standing together with this green gaze is the other prominent feature of the warrior's face. Hair a fiery red in color kept shaved on the sides and longer on top. While others will spend countless hours tending to their hair, Setzer seems to not even pay much attention to it letting the wavy locks move and contort in whichever direction that they desire at the moment.

Outside of the standard black and greys of WARDEN's uniforms, his clothing choices are rather plain in its appearance built around practically more than the latest style. This mostly means form fitting athletic wear made to breathable and to not restrict movement.


P E R S O N A L I T Y


Setzer Galaband is a pretty nice guy.

A bit of an extrovert, he is comfortable taking hold of a conversation with his smart tongue and well refined cynic's wit. From large groups to smaller clustering of people he seems at home. His personality is a natural lure towards others with his characteristically lopsided grin and general warmth about him. He does not actively seem to search out the spotlight just as home sitting back and listening as he is commanding a conversation but he certainly doesn't seem to mind having it cast upon him. Yet he seems to maintain a underlying cold distance beneath his welcoming warmth and overall charming personality. The curious might notice that while he can spend a large amount of time listening to others about their past and empathize with their plights rarely does he speak of his own history. Though he would quickly brush away such comments with a explanation that his life was a rather boring one. Laid-back and lackadaisical in his mannerism, it's hard to reconcile this image of him with the one that has received his fair share of top marks in classes and tops the leader board in almost every combat simulation at the Citadel.

This divide seems to come most apparent in combat. The warmth drops away to an almost mechanical coolness with every action becoming deliberate and methodical. A sharp contrast to the soldier that was joking with you a mere moment earlier he becomes all business almost solipsistic in his mannerism. The plain truth of the matter is that this side of Setzer is the one that is more truthful to himself. Analytical and abrasive in his actions. He is a perfectionist with standards as high as the ceiling goes and said standards are to be upheld if you want him to really think of you worth your weight. He doesn't have time for those too weak or unwilling to get the job done. They are simply dead weight. Yet Setzer knows that this sort of presentation is as to put kindly frowned upon. So he hides it pushing it underneath a mask of sociability to just keep up appearances as well as he could. He keeps a smile upon his face, attends parties, and just keeps on moving through the motions because that is the thing you did.

In the end though it gets hard for even Setzer to tell the difference between when he is faking it and actually feeling 'something'. Wither he likes to admit it or not being nice sometimes has its own benefits and rewards. He enjoys it when people prove his exceptions wrong and if you somehow do manage to earn the respect of the man behind the mask you earned yourself a lifelong companion willing to put everything on the line for you. More importantly Setzer knows he makes bad decisions and relies heavily upon flawed coping mechanisms regimented in his brain from an early age. But he doesn't seem all too willing to deal with the problem itself.


B A C K G R O U N D


Setzer Galaband was the result of a brief drunken fling between an airship pilot and some heiress running away from her family. Problem was that love story doesn't end all too well, turns out the heiress missed her money and life of luxury and left Setzer's father with a baby and not much else. After a work related accident had resulted in permanent nerve damage to his right leg, the old man took to drinking in a hard way. Setzer was perpetually the disappointment constantly not living up to his father's standards and being a 'fucking disgrace'. It was this early environment that lead to the young man soon realizing that as he put it 'nobody in the world gave a damn about him' and sort of locked his own feelings away behind emotional barricades. Learning not to care about others around him he focused himself completely upon whatever task lay ahead of him. It was not natural aptitude that came to be Setzer's saving grace but brute force repetition repeating the motions again and again until he learned a skill or ability.

At the age of ten he along with the rest of the students in the small rural school of his were put on a transport and shipped off to the Capital to be tested to be seen if they had the capacity to join WARDEN. While Setzer own magical abilities were only slightly above average, he took to the intellectual testing and physical assessment with flying colors. Seeing the potential in the boy he along with about three hundred others were selected to be sent to the Citadel for further training and to join the ranks of WARDEN. So Setzer packed what little he had living in basically what attributed to abject poverty for most of his life and was sent off to go be shaped into something greater than himself. He never said goodbye to his father walking to the aerodome five miles away by himself and leaving his father in his drunken stupor without much of a word.

When he arrived at the Citadel, Setzer saw the opportunity to reinvent himself as a person. He portrayed himself as one of the so called 'cool' kids that he saw at school. The people around him were all strangers to him, they didn't know that Setzer Galaband was the weird kid, hell the didn't even know who Setzer Gallaband was. He gained popularity with his fellow students with a new self-made easy going 'cool' personality and the approval of his instructors be throwing himself at his training with the same brute force repetition that he marked his earlier life. The military life style came naturally to him and was arguably even good for him giving him a sense of well needed structure and purpose. Others seemed to envy his ability to juggle between working with everything he had in his training and effortlessly keeping up a somewhat functioning social life popping his face into parties and the like. Of course what they didn't know was that training and social events were very much the same thing for Setzer tasks to be completed and achieved.

While he was able to succeeded in both combat and testing through his usual method, it seemed not to work the same way with his magic. While he studied the art of it drilling the concepts and ideas into his head. Taking the concepts into reality seemed to prove another funciton all together that no matter what he tried to do seemed to fall at every turn. This lead to an almost endless source of frustration and even levels of embarrassment for him as his continual failures with the magical arts being the only bad marks in his almost spotless career at the Citadel. This only forced him to continue to push ever further in his combat training pushing himself further and further rather than trying to work on his obvious shortcomings. This process would continue for the next ten or so years of his life at the Citadel.

Eventually he would graduated with a smaller smattering of friends. Much to his frustration and annoyance rather than being placed in First Class he was placed in Second Class mostly on account to his aforementioned lacking ability in the magical arts and his tendency to break away from his team during training exercises. Though these concerns would of been more of a major problem of his if there wasn't more pressing matters to attend to primarily the present Vangar invasion. His own small town was destroyed in the fighting to push the Vangar back from Orestia not that he cared that much. What Setzer cared more about was that the opportunity that the invasion presented, he didn't care for his patriotic duty or revenge. He saw it as opportunity to test himself, to keep on pushing those boundaries and limits.


C O M B A T


Setzer's combat style focus on his strengths in an effort to lessen any major weaknesses on his part. His main choice of weapon is a large sword about five feet or so in length and about a foot wide. While most military blades are sleek and elegant in their design or versatile in their application like the well often used gunblade, Setzer's blade is designed from absolute power and strength. The blows from the blade fall with a beautiful simplicity to them with a crushing might enhanced by training and augmentation. The young man moves with a surprising amount of speed landing crushing blow after blow with nothing less than the ferocity of a maelstrom. Due to Setzer's lacking magical ability rather than casting fireballs or throwing lighting with some with minimal magic he does do is to augment the blade making it come flickering alive with everything from fire to ice adding an extra layer of whomp


R E L A T I O N S

Gideon - Shared interests of sports and partying brought them together. Setzer's never treated him differently ever though he is royalty. Bros.
Theta - Not the best of pals but friendly enough. Setzer has a habit of getting himself hurt doing stupid shit and Theta is always there to patch him back up. The Tank and Medic have to be friends really.
Galahad - Brain versus brawn the eternal rivalry. They seem to be friendly towards one another despite there constant bickering back and forth. Everything is a competition between them for some stupid reason or another.
Zimmy - She is a party animal, he is a party animal it was only natural that the two of them became friends one way or another. She has a way of continually encouraging him to do some pretty stupid things.
Daryll - Sports and general partying happens and they are friends. Not as close as some others but they still can have a friendly chat from time to time. Daryll tries to stop him from getting wasted too much, Setzer still finds a way to blackout.
Trent - Trent tries to get Setzer to open up about his past. Setzer casually avoids the topic and occasionally will occasionally drag Trent to the Gym with him claiming that that the shrimp needs to become a shark.

The story of Spiritum is about a world known as Yerin, a world where magic and technology have mixed and flowed together for centuries. Long before man had conquered the world, creating massive metropolises, machines that could soar among the very heavens, and highways that stretched seemingly endless across the horizon, before it all a pact was made with the Gods. In exchange for our eternal reverence they taught us the secrets of magic, the ability to draw from the Astral Mist to bend and shape reality in ways thought to be unimaginable. The Gods also gave them a final gift in the form of the Bonding Crystals which breathed life into the still blossoming world. These crystals would form the centers upon which great civilizations would form around.

It would be these crystals which would nearly plunge the world into ruin due to greed and malice in equal parts. One of the original kingdoms that had formed around one of the crystals would one day become the sprawling Vangar Empire. Over time the Vangar evolved into a strong military and industrial powerhouse. They used the power of their Bonding Crystal to fuel their army and industry and over time the crystal slowly began to wane in power. To ensure their continued prosperity, Vangar began to invade the many lesser kingdoms around them to secure their crystals for their own use.

This cycle has lead to the current state affairs with the Vangar-Rassvet conflict. The small Kingdom of Rassvet was a small but influential land with a storied history dating back to when the Pact was made. Rassvet followed a policy of strict isolation and neutrality for most of its existence, preferring to keep out of major conflicts whenever they could. Careful guarding and use of their own crystal has preserved it in a state of power unmatched in all of Yerin. Seeing an opportunity to secure a massive boon to their Empire, the Vangar marched into Rassvet with the intent to annex the kingdom and secure their crystal.

Leading the charge against the Vangar invasion is a special branch of the Rassvet military known as WARDEN. Selected from a very young age based upon their aptitude to draw upon the Mist, these warriors possessing both martial and magical skill far above the standard soldier. With the help of these warriors, the Rassvet army has managed to hold the much larger Vangar Excursionary Force at bay for a little over six months now. Though day by day the Vangar continue to gain ground and casualties mount in the thousands on both sides.

All the while the coming darkness as foretold by the Oracles themselves approaches. Many believe it is a product of the war and the dead. The corpses and the smell of blood driving the monsters from their hiding places mad with a ravenous lust for blood. The crystals which once protected the world know being drained of their power allowing the darkness to slip into the cracks.

Among all of this, the story of Spiritum focus upon a group of freshly graduated WARDENS intent on going on one last road trip as a sort of collective 'family' before they are shipped out to the front lines. Par for the course things don't go as planned. One series of unforeseen events later eventually leads to this group coming to escort a young child with a mysterious necklace connected to the coming darkness and hunted by both Rassvet and Vangar on a world spanning journey to save it all.

01: I'm not the biggest fan of rules because I like to assume everybody is sane human being so I'll keep this short. If you have to abide by any rules be it these two. Common decency and common sense is something that everybody should strive for. Treat your fellow humans like they are just that your fellow humans and with all the respect that implies. Disputes between players should not be long blown out affairs in the OCC, hell disputes should not happen at all if we are doing this right. If you want to argue have your characters dispute about something mundane like the importance of starch or something.
02: In regards to any roleplay involving the dark depravity of mankind and giant monsters there are mature themes within this story. This is not a very nice world and terrible things happen to good people for no good reason. In that regard I heavily suggest you treat these matters with the weight that they would actually entitle. Romance falls into the same thing, sure it can happen just don't be stupid about it
03: Quality matters people, show me that you care. And remember I'm asking for your best not the best of Shakespeare or the like. I've been doing this shit for about a decade now and I'm still learning things everyday. Just remember Quality over Quantity and always remember Fail Faster.

Update for you beautiful people. OOC has been completed and I'm currently working on a character sheet now. Expect a link soonish!
Mhmm, I'll think about it haven't really used chats since I used to do NRPs on the Old Guild. Find they sometimes end up pulling away from the OOC and the like.

Anyway updates for y'all. I'm currently on a magical business trip till Friday so progress is happening but at a slower pace then I would like (writing on tablets is hell). So at my current rate expect the OOC sometime by Wednesday hopefully.

Hmmmm well I'll put it this way. This is Advanced so I trust that I don't have to hold your guys hands or anything. I'll pretty much be fly with most things as long as you provide justification. You want your person to have a Gatling gun arm? Sure! But you sure as hell better have a good story about why they got it instead of a normal prosthetic. You want to be some haughty noble? Tell me about the history of your characters family. The near-future setting gives you some room to be creative about things but the crazier you go, the better that justification has to be. Basically I'm giving you enough rope to hang yourself with as my mum used to like to tell me. Flesh out their story and make them feel for lack of a better term real. And the most important thing is to remember is as fresh graduates from WARDEN they are like twenty-somethings. They aren't perfect at anything from relationships, to combat, or anything. Nobody is perfect, they are all chaotic conglomerations of flaws, fears, and hopes.

And when in doubt, you can always just ask me if an idea will fly or not.

I actually have answers to all those questions and more! I'm still working on formatting the history section so that it actually looks nice in the OOC, but I'll be able to throw an info dump your way on Skype.
