"I win." His words had uttered, yet what was happening hardly felt like a victory anymore to Thawne. He might’ve beaten Barry Allen, but with what The Speedforce had told him, it looks like he can’t savor the sweet taste of being the best. He’s not fast enough to go back to his time, and The Speedforce will offer him no refuge from the claws of the timeline - and if he didn’t play along, he’d be neck deep in time wraiths.

So, he was left with but one course of action, there was only one man who could be his savior in this night of chaos. A plane crashed above and debris caused even further panic, as the yellow blur raced through the streets of Central City, to the slums. The most rundown part of town, under the highway that connected Central City to rest of the states. It was called ‘The Face of Central City’ officially, but the natives knew it simply as ‘The Gates’. Fancy facades hiding the drugs and homelessness.

There was one apartment in this complex of divorcees and addicts that was of interest to the renegade speedster. E. Thawne the mailbox read, as he burst through the door, vibrating the lock to pieces. In the bedroom, a blonde, 27 year old man, pale as a corpse laid passed out, a needle in his arm. His name was Edward William Thawne, a divorcee and estranged father. A Janitor at CCPD and a heroin addict. He was set to inherit a billion dollar fortune from his parents, but a falling out left him without a penny from the fortune and a disgrace to the Thawne name - a dynasty of some of the greatest minds of humanity.

Eobard felt disgust run through him as he walked through the apartment and into the bedroom. His gloved hand trailing the frame of the bed as he walked towards the unconscious Thawne. His breathing was slow.. Too slow. Eobard felt Eddies pulse only to find that there was barely one there.

"That’s certainly not good." The speedster mentioned, as he moved his hand towards Eddie’s Chest. Vibrating it to stimulate the heart, a speedsters way of doing CPR. No effect. Eobard’s damaged arm aches and it further angered him, he couldn’t let this Thawne die.

His heart stopped completely, as did his breathing. Thawne’s eyes flashed with red, and his arm swung into the air, coming down like a hammer, staking Eddie with red and yellow lightning, defibrillating his heart and shattering a few of his ribs. Eddie’s eyes shot open and he gasped for air, shock and panic in his eyes, as Eobard smirked for a second, before his expression turned back into a frown.

"You.." Eobard spoke, vibrating his entire body to distort his appearance from Eddie. ”W-Who are you?!” Eddie cried, terrified.

Eobard grabbed him by the arm and jerked him out of the bed, pinning him against the wall with his forearm to his throat. "You pathetic, sorry son of a bitch!." He yelled and Eddie replied with terror in his voice ”Take anything! Take it all! Just don’t hurt me, please!” Eobard threw him to the ground, where he began trying to crawl away, turning around and running on all four away from the speedster, Eobard caught him by the ankle and pulled him back, grabbing him by the chin, his eyes glowing with fierce red light.

"You waste of space, sorry excuse for a human being. You had all of this potential, all of this promise, and you’ve squandered it all! " The man in yellow yelled, twisting Thawne’s jaw, holding his face in place as he tried to squirm away.
"But no more. You will finally be useful."

”Who are you?!” Eddie cried, as Thawne smirked. Piercing his skin with what looked like a syringe, and Eddie’s skin began shriveling away, drained of all essence until nothing more but a husk was left behind. Eobard’s arm healed under the suit, as the other end of the syringe was stuck in his chest. And as he pulled away his mask, his face was now that of the far younger Eddie.

"I’m you." The Speedster said, taking off his suit and hiding it inside of his yellow ring. Now, he had to feign an accident that’d left him in a coma. A Short circuit would do the thing, and his body would radiate enough dark matter to leave a trail that the would-be allies of The Flash would believe.

He hoped.

Could be worse... could've done it in the IC.

Like some kind of idiot!

I've missed the OG mid 2000's meme format. Simpler times.
Woops.
Well we're almost a week into the IC and already on our third page so out of curiosity, what are the driving factors and influences in your story?

For me, I've never read a single comic containing or pertaining to Namor. My largest exposure to the character was through @Morden Man's Fantastic Four posts in Ultimate One Universe. Instead, I'm drawing DC's Aquaman, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings for a lot of influence. Add to a dash of the MCU's depiction of Thor and my time playing in Ultimate One Universe and you basically have the recipe for my Namor.

One thing I'm really focusing on this is fleshing out the world up front instead of sort of winging it. With Thor, I played it relatively safe by putting him a small generic town and for the most part, staying away from Asgard. Here, Atlantis is at the forefront and will be heavily featured in the coming posts as a good chunk of the first third of my story is set there.

But that's about it for me, so I now I'm curious to hear from you guys and to read between the lines to see where your stories are going.

CWVerse, The Flash: Rebirth, some Kingdom Come, Superior Spider-Man and Flashpoint are the pretty obvious influences to my run of The Flash, though, ultimately my concept hasn't ever really been done before and there's not a whole lot going on that's about Thawne being a good guy, or, at least pretending to be one. The driving force behind Flash's simply the novelty of the idea. I like Thawne, he's a villain who's entire characteristic's built upon hating his nemesis. His entire identity's hating Barry, which isn't really something he's got in common with other villains. Lex doesn't just /live/ to fuck with Superman. He has his own agenda.

Thawne rarely has a clearer goal than to ruin Barry's life, and by my first post - he's already succeeded. He has already won. Yet, that didn't make him complete, not satisfied. He still desires to live, he still has things in his life he wants to do. Thawne's been an outcast his entire life, and my run's very much about him learning to live his life, freeing himself of the burden of his hatred for Allen.

Also, all the interactions with the Flash's villains are gonna be a whole lot of fun. I do look forward to some crossovers, too.

I'm taking it! It's like an homage only more blatant and hacky!

Put it on a shirt!

"My name is Barry Allen, and I'm the fastest man alive. When I was a child, I saw my mother killed by something impossible. Then an accident made me the impossible. To the outside world, I'm just an ordinary forensic scientist, but secretly I use my speed to fight crime and find others like me, and one day, I'll get the man who killed my mother, I'll get justice for my friends, my father and for Iris. I am the Flash."

Lighting struck the ground outside of the suburbs of Central City, The Streaks as the suburb was called, less than a mile off a very peculiar house in the story of our hero. The house where all of this had begun a number of years ago that to him was impossible to know. It was where all of this started, really. Even if he was but a boy then, it was the defining moment in his life. Being this close to that place made his body surge with new power, new purpose. His body that moments ago - in a different time - had felt like it was losing it's power had now become reinvigorated. He was running. God, he was always running. But he was never alone, not anymore. Before, he would've had friends, loved ones, or her by his side, but now, he had the devil on his heels. The same lightning bolt that had struck the ground struck the same place again and behind him he appeared. His dark passenger, his reflection. His shadow.

His Reverse, The man in Yellow came out gritting his teeth, his eyes glowing sharply red as he grappling for the hero. He was narrowly dodged and then counter attacked, a swing towards his yellow-clad face, as their blurry arms collided, lightning rang all around them and what had a second ago been a small storm was now quickly growing into a massive hurricane. Nature knew full well that these weren't simply two men fighting. It wasn't a squabble, and it wasn't even a rivalry anymore. It wasn't a feud between two sprinters, a tug of war between opposites.

It was a battle between titans, a war between two forces of nature. An effort to put an end to the unanswerable question - what if two unstoppable objects collide. They traded blow after blow, moving in circles and every time they did, lightning struck them and another pair of them appeared. They didn't say anything to each other, but they both knew it.

This was the end. It ends tonight. Soon, they had occupied the entire field they were one, a red and a yellow blur moving faster than anyone in the world could comprehend, unleashing enough power that if it wasn't absorbed by the other could've caused catastrophic damage to the surroundings. A kick, a lightning spear was thrown, a velocity barrier was made, they phased at different frequencies, moving through one another, they pulled out all of their stops here and now, using every little bit of all of their might. Finally, The Flash saw an opportunity. A lightning bolt to the Man in Yellow's that he could not parry, he took a few meter's leverage to gain enough speed to hit him with enough energy to end this once and for all. But as his fist was about to collide with the paler man's face, it was over.

All the battles on the field stopped then, as if the entire world stopped.

His hand was shaking, trembling. They were moving at all but normal speed all of a sudden, consumed by what was happening. In the middle of the army of Yellow and Red fighting, there were the pair of them. Flash's fist colliding with Zoom's face, yet, Zoom's hand vibrating through Flash's heart.

"I win."

"You will never win, Thawne." He said with a pained grin, as the red duplicated began exploding into bright glow, absorbed back into the speedforce. Thawne pulled off Barry's cowl, and then took off his, revealing his graying blond hair, matching Barry's full head of gray. He leaned over to Barry, letting him rest one arm over his shoulder, as he leaned in closer. "I win, Flash. I beat you." As he pulled his hand out of Barry's chest leaving a gaping hole as he had vibrated the organs into dust. Barry fell to the ground, his blood splattering all over Thawne's yellow suit.

The Reverse Flash pulled up his cowl again and began laughing, hysterically and manically. He had finally won. He had finally showed that idiot Barry Allen that he was the fastest. He had taken everything that was important to Barry, and now, he had even taken his life.

Gideon's voice spoke softly in his ear.

"Thawne, sir. The timeline's becoming unstable. Your defeat over Mr. Allen must have shaken the speedforce. This timeline is becoming highly volatile, I am detecting anachronisms all over time. Get out of there."

"I'll go wait it out in the negative speedforce. This timeline can go to hell." Thawne said with a smile, as he began running, seemingly a lot slower than he was used to. "Gideon, I am.. Slow." His voice couldn't hide the euphoria he felt, still, but his pragmatism stopped him from celebrating. He was powerful, but even he couldn't survive time collapsing on itself.

"It would seem that your body's connection to the speedforce has been severely damage from your battle. You are essentially out of fuel. You need a recharge of dark matter, Professor. Thawne" The female voice informed him and Thawne smirked, seeing the particle accelerator in the distance exploding.

"I know just the place."

Speeding into the CCPD's loft, the forensics lab, he saw a young Barry Allen climbing onto a shelf to grab some chemicals. Thawne non-nonchalantly pushed him off the ledge with the remainder of his speed - taking Barry's exact place as the lightning bolt came through the window, surging through him. The young Barry Allen was thrown onto the ground, knocked out cold. Thawne had a smug smile on his lips as he glanced over at the young would-be Flash. "Your time's up, kid."

He headed back outside - into a Central City in chaos. Thawne never got tired of seeing all of the mayhem this night caused, no matter how many times he had to see it. He still felt slow, but not as slow as before. The timeline was still deteriorating, and certain objects were melting away. A lamppost, a fire hydrant, cars, even some people were being turned into nothingness. He felt it closing in on him.

"That's my cue to leave." He sprinted as fast as he could, breaking into the barrier of the speedforce.. But it was no refuge for him, instead, he was immediately pushed out of it, landing on his face.

"What do you mean I'm not allowed to?! DO you not know who I am?!" he yelled in anger, as the portal closed again. The Speedforce had illustrated it's conditions very clearly, and Thawne was not happy about it. He tried to pry open the portal into the speedforce again, but to no avail. His left arm was deteriorating.

Feeling how time got even more unstable, Thawne's fist pierced the ground. "Fucking FINE!" he cried out in his fury, his fist summoning a lightning strike as it shattered the concrete under it. He climbed to his feet, and time stopped collapsing, seemingly and his arm stopped falling apart.

"Gideon. Find me Edward Thawne." His words thundered as he sped off in a yellow streak of lightning.

I am not a 'stan'. I just happened to have grown up on Smallville and it has a large nostalgia factor but I can recognize its flaws and shortcomings.

Same. Smallville's a bad show, and I love it.

Absolute Players, trying to get into the IC, 2019, Colorized.

Waiting for the IC like

That's how you end up DDOS-ing.
Wanting to join this, but having trouble coming up with a character.

Some of the characters I've thought have already been applied for or possibly will be applied for soon. Some characters I've thought of yet do not currently have a direction (story ideas) for are: Green/Red Arrow, Bumblebee, Impact Comics' The Fly, Rogue, Icon, and the Hulk.

The only character I've had any sort of ideas for is Ghost Rider, but there seems to be a good amount of supernatural characters in the game already.

On a side note: As a fan of the original New Warriors comic, it's cool to see someone using Vance Astrovik.

Also interested to see if the Thawne-Flash will end up fighting himself.

I'd like to see Icon out of that list the most. He's DC's least appreciated Alien.

Also, there's a fair chance Thawne's gonna end up fighting himself, both metaphorically and physically.
