War applications lead to inventions, not weapons themselves leading to it. Important difference. MORE importantly, that's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN ONLY DOING IMPORTANT SCIENCE BECAUSE YOU WANT MILITARY SIDE EFFECTS. Creating radio to better communcate during war is one thing, only working to improve radio because you want to weaponize radio waves to liquify someone is totally different.
The reason we do nothing with space is because the past 10 years havecut it's funding to the poin it CAN'T do anything. Space is icredibly important for anyone realizing there won't be a rapture any time soon because we're slowly making the planet uninhabitable, and we know literaly nothing about the universe we exist in when the whole is considered. How do ou suggest we learn about antimatter on earth? Or other models of life without them coming to us? Space is the mos important thing we can invest in, and not to further destroy the planet we'll be stuck on until we make enough progress with space.

Other than my belief that the rapture will happen in my lifetime, we can work on interplanetary travel and teleportation on Earth, antimatter isn't viable yet, and there's nothing to do with space. It's just there. We take pictures.
