AT field you say? Now isn't that interesting. I didn't know that about it. (Actually makes Evangelion more thematically consistent if that's the case, but kind of ruins the surprise.)

I think the exact translation for AT Field is something like "holy area which cannot be intruded upon", which is where the term Zettai Ryoiki came from which is kind of hilarious to me.

I could try to explain what the AT Field is exactly, from my understanding, unless that would be a spoiler for you?
Most of the journey was conducted in silence, Rider taking the time to mentally compose himself for the battle to come. At the same time, however, he couldn’t help but marvel at the vehicle his Master was driving; civilization had surely come a long way from the days of riding horses and elephants, he would need to try out some of this era’s machines for himself before this war was over. As a Rider he had to skills to push them to the limits of what they were capable of.

As they approached their destination his Master began to inform him of their enemy’s position; Rider listened to the information carefully before turning to face the Magus in the driver’s seat. “Perhaps this young girl does not possess the means to detect your familiar, but we should not assume the same is true of Assassin; we should avoid assuming anything at all. Underestimating your opponent is a dangerous folly, but overestimating them can be just as disastrous; given out lack of information however, it is perhaps best that we err on the side of caution.” Glancing towards the steering wheel Rider spotted the way his Master’s hands were tensed around the object, but mistook it for nervousness rather than excitement. “You seem tense Master. There is no need; despite my earlier words I do believe we can win this war, even if our opponents are stronger, so long as my strategy is superior to theirs.”

Opening the door to the car Rider stepped out and onto the street. At this time of night the area was empty, so no passers-by saw the strange spectacle that was a fully armoured Carthaginian stepping out of a vehicle in modern day Redrock. Placing a hand on top of the car Rider leant down and looked back into the car. “I will engage Assassin directly; if possible I will kill her or her Master, but if I am not able to I will retreat. If any other Servants approach our fight I will retreat. I will not come back to the car if that is the case, lest I lead them to you; watch my fight with your familiar and leave if I do. I will find you later.”

Closing the door Rider stepped away from the car and looked to the familiar that his Master had said would lead him to Assassin’s location. “Lead the way.” The reanimated bird took flight and Rider followed it with haste, the familiar leading him into the park and towards the bench that Assassin and her Master were sitting on. As soon as the pair were in sight Rider stopped, certain that they were indeed the pair he was looking for by the way the familiar continued towards them and perched itself on a tree above their heads.

Taking deep, calming breaths Rider simply observed them in silence for the moment. The girl was young indeed, still wearing what he recognised as a school uniform from his knowledge of this era, though he couldn’t help but notice the sword at her waist. The woman sitting next to her in the brightly coloured robe must then be Assassin. Neither seemed to have noticed his presence yet, which was unusual, so he stepped out from the trees and onto the main path some fifty feet from their location.

He began to walk in their direction, a round shield of bronze and a scimitar appearing in his hands as he did so. A direct approach was perhaps unexpected coming from one renowned as a master strategist, but given his lack of resources and his opponent it was for the best. He did not have an army to flank their position, or to organise into an ambush. He did not have the ability to sneakily approach even a Berserker, let alone one summoned into the Assassin-class. If he had one advantage in this it would be his superior martial prowess in a straight forward duel and even that was something he couldn’t be certain of until he saw this hero in action.

This was, perhaps, the most irrational plan of battle he had ever come up with in all his years as a military leader. “I must be growing foolish with time.” He mused as he approached his opponent. For all he knew his opponent could be stronger than he in battle or they could possess some Noble Phantasm that would foil him. If that was the case he would have only his strength and his wits to rely on; thankfully, his wits were quite good and he was capable of bringing to bear and absurd amount of power if needs must.

He stopped again thirty feet from them and called out his challenge. “Assassin! I, Rider, challenge you!”

@Todd Howard I think Absolute Territory is supposed to be a kind of area denial attack, rather than something that wraps up the opponent; something that pushes back the opponent or hits everything in a certain range to create space around Bancho Lilimon. Or at least that's what I'd do for it. Something like flailing the yoyo around herself fast enough that it creates a kind of cage of vines?

It's hard to tell what it's supposed to be really. The only places I've seen that phrase used is in Neon Genesis Evangelion (translated as Absolute Terror Field in English) and in Japanese slang as a term for the area of exposed skin between a woman's skirt/shorts and her stockings/boots, which isn't a part of Bancho Lilimon's design oddly enough.
What the fuck is a Lorax

It's whatever this thing is.

@Weird Tales its definitely more than just us, but to be honest I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of just starting over. Maybe have fewer characters, a smaller cast that's more manageable and try to do this again but in a way that's less confusing.

A lot of the older characters who actually took part in this battle have left, like Colda or Josh, or died like Sam and Mugen; my character barely counts since he only showed up at the end. Any new characters we bring in are going to have little to no connection to whats currently going on or whats going to happen next unless they have some connection to the plot via their backstory.

At this point we can either try to roll this into the next arc and kind of... forget most of what happened so far since everyone involved quit, or start anew and try to address some of the issues people raised. Redo the Raditz fight but add some other villains alongside him; other members of Frieza's army, Saibamen or maybe even new player characters.
So how many people are still in, after the people who recently left?
It seemed like his new skill not only gave information about the different monster species in a general sense, but in the case of creatures that were a little more… unique and had a developed personality then that information was also provided. It would also come in handy should he ever forget someone’s name. It didn’t give information about their magical abilities, such as what skills they had, like his magical analysis skill did; he supposed for the best results he would need to use both on whatever monster he was observing.

Maybe he could combine the skills somehow?

The Slime, Jason, spoke up again. The fact that the skeletal goblins were being spawned by something was not new to him, he’d already assumed it had something to do with the cave becoming a dungeon, but it was good to hear confirmation nonetheless. The fact that the undead were apparently targeting Digbie due to his digging habits was a concern though and all the more reason to leave as soon as possible. “I’ve never heard of mana burn, but it it’s some kind of status effect I think I can help.”

Raising a hand out towards the Slime Oberon cast Lesser Status Heal on him, following up by observing him with magic analysis just in case it gave him any information. With that done he turned towards the others who would be leaving the cave with him and once again urged them on towards leaving. “If Digbie’s being targeting then we should get moving as soon as possible. Digbie, Rain, grab whatever you want to take with you and let’s go; we’ll avoid the old bonfire pit and head towards the cave wall before following it to the entrance.” His plan was essentially to return the way he had come back to where he had run into Ash and the others before heading to the entrance from there; the others should be gone by now but maybe if they’d been delayed they could catch up with them.

He wasn’t used to being in charge as such, it wasn’t something he had much experience with in his old life, so taking the lead like this was a bit out of character for him; but he knew how to take the initiative when need be and liaise with other people to get things done. He knew Digbie would follow his lead whatever the case, he just hoped Rain would as well. One of the Dire Rat’s was apparently going to be escorting them out of the cave, so Oberon turned in his direction as well. “Ed, you don’t need to follow us if you don’t want to; it’ll just end up with you needing to cross the cave again by yourself once we’re gone. I won’t stop you from coming though.”

Once the others were ready Oberon took off into the air and began flying away from the cave, making sure to keep his pace slow to allow them to keep up, trusting the others to be able to see him and follow him.

Why did people always find it so easy to trust others, even if experience told them it was unwise? Uriel didn’t trust this situation, or their apparent saviour, but judging by the way everyone felt the need to chastise him it seemed the others did. The lack of speech he could buy, even if it was a lie it was just being used as a convenient excuse not to give answers; but he wouldn’t so easily believe that this stranger had chosen to save them for entirely altruistic reasons. He was powerful enough to break into this prison as well as having the knowledge to do so, as well as having some means of resurrecting and controlling the abomination that continued to stalk the room. The how, the why and the where of their imprisonment was something Uriel wanted to get to the bottom of, no doubt, but the why of their rescue was perhaps a more pressing matter.

Nobody ever did anything for free. They always had a reason. No doubt when they finally got out of this hell hole this stranger would turn around and demand something of them.

People weren’t any different no matter where you went.

At least it seemed like others were starting to come around to the idea that they weren’t where they thought they were. The doctor had an idea and, crazy as it sounded, Uriel believed it. “A big black tower fell out of the sky and started pouring out monster like that thing over there into the capital. I don’t know where it came from or what happened after that; everyone died pretty quickly.” A power that could travel to other worlds, huh? Did that mean other worlds out there in the stars like the astronomers said or some other plane of existing like the Church and Ignis talked about?

The quiet guy, the one Uriel kept forgetting about, spoke up next, talking about his world and then bombarding a few of them with questions. Uriel grimaced at the probing nature of the conversation, especially him asking about how magic worked in Uriel’s world. His magic… what had happened to him wasn’t something he ever liked to think about if he could avoid it which he rarely could, given the presence of a certain annoying little prick that was still mysteriously absent. Even if it wasn’t a point of contention with him he wouldn’t have appreciated being asked to spill his secrets like that; he certainly wasn’t about to tell everyone about any weaknesses he had.

“You ask too many questions, too quickly.” Letting out a sigh, Uriel decided he might as well give some vague answers to appease the crowd. “There is no way for a person to cast magic in my world without giving something up, or having something taken away from them. Magic users are all the same, they made the same deal and gained the same weaknesses from it, but their magic is always unique to them. Magic can’t turn against you but it can… it can run out of control. And that deal… you’re beholden to it, you can’t reverse it… and you can’t escape it. Trying to break the deal is a very bad idea.”

Uriel went quiet. He’d said more than he’d intended and given away more than was wise. Hopefully the others wouldn’t notice his reaction to his own words; they’d brought up more memories than he’d thought they would.

Before he could linger on those memories too long the stranger spoke up again, apparently confirming the doctor’s theory with his broken way of speaking before urging them towards the exit again. Then he walked over to the table and began writing something in the blood on the table, despite his apparent discomfort at doing so. Despite his disgust at the gore the stranger, Ahnciel, was quite verbose with his writing; the gist of it was that there was a gate somewhere nearby.

When he was done writing, recoiling from the table and hurrying to shake the blood from his hands, Uriel quickly walked over to one of the nearby beds and pulled off one of the blood-stained sheets. Moving back to the table he threw the sheet over the message and scrubbed it away, the dirty sheet not so much removing the congealed blood as shifting it around, but it sufficed to erase the writing. “Someone go grab those two from the storeroom, we’ve wasted enough time. Let’s get moving.”
Rider nodded as Aksha addressed him; this man at least seemed to know a little of etiquette and humility. “If my Master does not require my assistance in settling in, then I will go and find Archer.” The Greek warrior turned to the young man beside him, and it took Dieter a few moments to realise that Rider was asking if his presence was needed.

Shrinking under the gaze of the renowned hero Dieter stumbled over his words. “Ah, oh… of course. I’ll be fine; I can manage by myself.” With another nod Rider left his side, walking purposefully in the same direction that Archer had left moments ago.

Grabbing his suitcase, the only luggage Dieter had brought with him, the young Magus followed the group as the Father led them on a brief tour of the church’s interior. The fact that the Grey’s were unlikely to launch an assault on them was a relief to hear, if a little curious; he supposed it made sense when they already had the Grail in their possession. From a certain viewpoint they had already won; there was no need for them to take any unnecessary risks when their only goal was to guard what was already theirs.

As they passed through the main area of the church and walked between the rows of pews Berserker spoke up about making sure there was nothing to put them in danger inside the church before leaving. That Servant, more than any other on their side, worried Dieter; a single minded obsession with cleanliness was not the kind of madness he had expected of a Berserker and a part of them was awaiting the moment she deemed them all unclean and tried to ‘cleanse’ them.

Father Howard showed them to the trapdoor leading down into the underground area of the church, explaining its purpose and history. Dieter stared at the portal and the staircase that led down to the tunnels, feeling a strange sense of foreboding as he did so. “I’m not claustrophobic, but somehow I don’t like the idea of living underground. It feels like we’re trapping ourselves.”

Stepping out into the fresh air Rider found Archer exactly as Aksha had said he would, scouting the surrounding area by staring out into the forest. He walked up to the edge of the ledge and stood next to the other Servant, crossing his arms over his chest as he too peered into the distance; though without the same privileges he couldn’t see nearly as far.

“You have the advantage over the rest of us Archer. We’ve only just arrived but you’ve been here for some time now, planning and making your preparations. What is your opinion on this war?”

@Reflection
@Double This seems more like an attempt to wrap up this fight as quickly as possible so we can move on and hopefully do things better next time. As for Sully stealing the kill, well, my only issue with that is that Sam's death seems forced; as in its really obvious the character is supposed to die and that was the only way to do it.

To answer your question... no, I'm not really having fun with this. The fact that every Raditz post involved him throwing one punch or kick and sending people flying is not great; there needs to be an allowance for us to take control of the NPC's during our posts so that every fight doesn't end up as 'attack villain, villain says ow, launches us away'. Add that to the list of ideas for making the next fight better.

So far I don't think we've had a single exchange of blows, just people trading big hits, mostly because that would require controlling another character or a collaboration post.

That said I'm willing to stick around and see what the next fight looks like, hopefully it'll address some of the issues we've been raising.
