Rose Buckner

Location: The trails -> The warehouse
Skills:

Rose grinned at Layla. She didn't say anything else to Layla. Rose was fine with poly relationships, but she wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. And it seemed they actually were siblings in Arcadia too so that was understandable to want to avoid. Rose had liked Cassie much longer than she had known Lyla. She wondered briefly if she had been drawn to her friends Sierra and Cassie because they had been from the same world as her even though she didn't know that.

As soon as the portal was opened Rose went through it right behind Layla. She had no desire to be stuck on the side with Maleficent. Rose was quite done with Maleficent. What she needed was a weapon of some sort. Rose looked around. She saw a bow and a few arrows. That was good enough for her. She grabbed them and notched an arrow. She didn't draw it or even lift it so it was pointing at people coming through the total, but she stood at the ready in case Maleficent somehow got through or her daughter.

Colby Jackson

Location: Trailhead -> The warehouse
Skills:

He did raise his eyebrow when Matthew was caught stealing knives from Layla. But thankfully Layla didn't seem to actually mind, and Matthew hit Maleficent. Colby was proud that he had hit Maleficent and he was impressed with the one woman on their side who went out and distracted Maleficent. They weren't doing much damage, but at least Maleficent was overwhelmed.

Colby grabbed Matthew's hand and dragged him through the portal. He glanced at the new girl who had been running from Maleficent, she was armed now and looked ready to shoot anyone who displeased her. Colby made sure to give her a wide berth and found a spot away from the portal. He picked up a sword on his way past the box. Colby didn't care he didn't have any skill in it, he was going to protect Matthew.

"Only because I would hold back in deference to your advanced age." Dalisy said to Arnora before they went their separate ways. Arnora was the first one off the elevator, which had left Dalisy alone with Lara. That only made Dalisy more irritated. Gods she had been having so much fun in the rapids and then Lara had to show up. It was like the world was conniving to make sure she had a bad day.

Normally Dalisy might have joined one of the chaotic card games or just joined the fight for fun, but what she wanted was to make sure her sister was okay. Lara was just so much like Niah that it was a constant reminder that Niah was mortal. She might be a demi-god, but she was still mortal. Once in her room, Dalisy reached out with her senses, found her sister, and watched. Niah was alive and well. Dalisy couldn't pick up on anything going on around her, but she knew that Niah was okay.

Dalisy flopped down on a chair and sighed. She'd get changed in a moment, but the desire to punch a wall, or someone's face, had been reduced at least.

Edus had heard of Wakanda. He knew it was a third-world country. He also knew there were rumors about it having some advanced technology. Ed wasn't sure how much he believed that, but he wasn't about to ask Mira if it were true. That seemed rude, and Ed did his best not to be rude. "I did know about his hearing aid, but I had never asked if it was genetic or an accident. That is unfortunate." Ed thought back to his childhood and learning how to deal with his power.

"One of the spells I know can hurt people. When we were kids, the cousins would all play fight with the force spell. I once broke my cousin's leg. We never got along after that." How unfortunate that Lucas was one of the few survivors of the attack on Cardiff, he thought. "I don't' entirely blame him for not forgiving me since even with my sister trying to heal it, he has had a pronounced limp since then." He winced at the memory, at the image of his sister, and took a long drag from his cigarette. It was time to change the subject or move on. This was getting too personal.

"I think training and education about powers are important. Learning how to control what some people are capable of is hard, but for the world to become safe, it is an important aspect of what needs to be done. I am impressed by what Xavier has accomplished here"

Luke was on his side coughing up water and gasping for air. Finally, he said, "Thank you, Sophia. You saved my life." He took the offered blanket from Zari and wrapped it around his shoulders shivering a bit. "There are some plants at the bottom of the pond. I've never seen anything like that. Admittedly I usually sawm in pools, not ponds in spaceships. But it seemed like the plant didn't want me to surface." He shook his head, then looked at Kyle and Manny. Kyle still had the rope, but Manny had dropped his end and had moved to Luke's side checking his heart rate against his steady counting. "Thanks, I know you guys pulled me out of there. If we hadn't had the rope..." He trailed off and glanced around at those gathered near the pond. "Uh, I feel like I missed something."

"Oh, just the usual amnesiac drama. Zarina got all her memories back too. She and Kyle remember everything apparently. And Gordon is one good Crème Brûlée behind them." Tessa said. Manny helped Luke to his feet.

"You had us scared for a moment there Luke. I suggest you get something hot into you and warm-up too. Let's hold off on anymore exploring for a little bit." He eyed Zarina as he said it, hoping she'd pick up her bag and go back to tinkering with the Roomba rather than clambering around in pipes full of near-freezing water.

"Well, tragically a near-death experience doesn't seem to be the way to waken the memories." Luke chuckled, but his smile contorted a little. But then he shook his head, water dripping. "Forgive me, I'm gonna swing by my room and see about a hot shower." Kyle undid the rope from Luke so that he could walk freely and then Luke started down the hall and turned into the room with the 10 on the plaque.

Tessa continued into the Galley. At the machine, she ordered another carafe of coffee and enough cups for everyone. She glanced at Cal with her cigarette but decided to not say anything. "Want some coffee? I made it for Luke, but I wanted a cup too. I thought others might too." She said offering a cup to both Ryanor and Cal.

The Roomba finished its cleaning and then returned to its hole in the wall.

Atrium

Manny looked at the group gathered in the Atrium still. "I understand that you're all freaked out, especially at Cal right now, but we can't afford too much in-fighting. We might have to rely on each other to get out of here. I'm not saying to forgive her." He said the last bit directly to Zarina. "Hell, quite the opposite. I don't trust anyone here, but I trust you all a whole lot more than I do whoever put us here. This place is more dangerous than I assessed at first." Manny was frowning. "Something is going on and I don't know what."

"They must be watching us. The question is what do They want?" Kyle cast his gaze around the Atrium as if he was looking for something, but whatever it was he apparently didn't find it. "Sophia, that note you found was in the bathroom, right? Maybe They are polite and aren't watching us in there and that's why whoever had that room last left the note there. It survived cause They didn't find it. They probably didn't know to look there."

Niah shook her head grinning at the idea of a string being attached to either her wrist or ankle. She didn't think it sounded like a good idea either way, maybe her waist if it came down to it. She didn't want a limb ripped off. While the raft was being blown up Niah put on part of the armor, just the armbands, and set to see if she could control the whole set of armor.

At first, nothing happened. Not even her arms felt like they were going to lift off. Niah frowned. She wasn't certain if she just was failing at the task or if it was an impossible one. She cleared her mind and let herself focus on just getting lift-off. This time she got an unstable upward movement. At least she wasn't shooting up into the sky, practicing this inside was a good idea. That meant there was at least an upper limit to how high she could end up.

Her third try was much more successful. She was able to get altitude and control. That meant it was viable for her to attach most of the armor to the raft and not have herself be in the armor. That was a relief.

When she had finished that she started messing with the rope and the now blown up raft. Since it had to seat all three of them she wanted to make sure it would be stable and wouldn't just dump them if someone shifted wrong. That seemed easier to her than trying to get the armor to fly. In the end, Niah felt confident about the raft and armor set up.

"I'm amazed. This might actually work. I think we should tie the armor to the edges of the raft rather than bundle it all together. That'll keep it flat, instead of pulling up to one spot. I hope. I don't know if anyone has done anything like this before so I can't say for certain if this will even work."

Ed considered that it seemed like this was the most Mira and he had ever exchanged. Pleasantries and passing comments had so far been their only source of conversation. He assessed Mira as she spoke. She was smart, and he grinned at her own assessment of living in the Mansion.

"I've lived with a lot of people all my life. This is comforting to me honestly. The bustle and the tensions and the chaos. It is more like my own home than a quiet apartment somewhere. Though I've lived in a few of those here and there, they were never home. Always just a waypoint." He took a drag from the cigarette.

In the recent months, Ed had withdrawn from human connection so while part of him wanted to ask Mira a few questions about herself, like how had she come to join the x-men he decided against it. That smacked too much of trying to make friends. He decided for a more neutral approach that while still friendly would leave both of them safe from opening up too much. Mira was young, as were all the X-men, but she had a bright future. If the hatred of mutants would calm down enough to give her a chance to shine.

"Which do you prefer?" It seemed like a safe enough question, one that could be answered with one word or if she desired more explanation. After that, she could choose to continue the conversation or go back to what she was working on.

As Luke dove deeper into the water he noticed that there was some seaweed near the grate that they hadn't noticed from the shore. That didn't worry him though, even if it was odd that it was in freshwater. Though the water was icy it wasn't chlorinated so he could see easily. It was good water to swim in, minus the near-freezing temperatures.

He arrived at the grate and checked the type of screws that held it in. It looked like the same type as the ones from the grate at the mouth of the river. As he examined the grate one of the seaweed plants wrapped around his leg. Luke didn't notice until he started back to the surface and couldn't rise to the surface. His deep breath of air was starting to turn bad and he needed to get to the surface.

Luke yanked on the rope asking Kyle to pull him out. He trusted Kyle's upper body strength. He knew the man was powerfully built. And he felt the rope tighten and try to pull him free, but the hold the seaweed had on him was stronger. Luke's vision started to dim. He had never been afraid of the water. Only of bleeding.

His body begged him to take a breath, but he knew that would be certain death. If he could just get free. He reached down at the seaweed and tried to pull it off his leg, but he couldn't.

Atrium

"Well I know my skill set now." Kyle said as he held the rope it was securely wrapped around his arm and a section around his leg. If anything pulled the rope farther than he wanted he'd either be going with it or stop it from dragging Luke. He was keeping his eye on the water.

"I just know food it feels like." Gordon said. "Everything I seem to know is somehow related to food." Gordon added. He tilted his head and then said, "I went to Cordon Bleu. I was in a few episodes of cooking shows like Iron Cheif. It isn't all there. I can tell there are gaps, but it is coming back."

"Science is my skill set. That comes to me easily." Noah said. "I don't remember anything else. Just numbers and formula and stuff like that." He explained.

"I know I'm military and in the medical field. I have the tattoo to prove it." Manny said lifting his sleeve to show the caduceus tattoo on his deltoid. He also flicked his dog tags out from under his shirt. "Sorry Cal, no cigarettes."

"I'm with Vinnie, I'm not certain what my skill set is. It seems all jumbled. Like a little here and a little there, but nothing calls me. Well except the camera that Vinnie has in her room. And the trees. But I don't know things about the trees like I'm a scientist. They just feel like home." As Tessa talked the rope was pulled on frantically. Kyle pulled and nothing happened. Tessa looked down into the water. She could see Luke there struggling. "Something has him!" She shouted.

Manny moved over to help and pulled the rope from in front of Kyle. Together they pulled Luke out of the water. He didn't move.

Galley

The Roomba made sounds and tried to suction water off of Zarina, but since it couldn't move only the one spot was dry.

Niah frowned. She was in agreement with Flynn. SHIELD shouldn't be above the law. If Captain America was against it too... She paused. She could potentially know what he had said exactly. Niah didn't use her power of Psychometry often. It wasn't always a reliable power, but when it worked it had been intense. Under the table, Niah slowly took off her glove and touched the table. She didn't want Hill to know that she was trying to get a neutral view. Niah wanted to know exactly what happened. Every contact leaves a trace, more so for her than most people

First, she got a flash of the pair of them talking about the policies. Rogers called them immoral, and Hill's response was asking for his compliance or his resignation. Rogers then said "Compromise where you can. Where you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, 'No, you move'." The phrase gave her chills. Then Rogers threw his shield and hit Hill in the face before jumping out the window.

Niah blinked as she came back to herself and slipped her glove back on. She looked at Hill and saw a bruise that was forming. Niah was surprised that was the worst Hill was getting from the shield to the face. She wanted to say something, to make a scene as Flynn had, to quote Rogers to the group and see who was with him. There were a couple of things she thought about saying, like referencing the Australia mission, but not everyone in the group knew what happened there. She needed to say something that Hill wouldn't understand but they all would or wait. Niah decided to wait. She could bide her time. Niah couldn't even text Flynn a clue as to where her heart was with this situation because he hadn't been there in Australia.

Matt nodded at Oliver, giving him a bit of reassurance. It was good that he renounced anything to do with Thanos, but he was surprised that he had to. Matt had figured that it had been clear from his actions on the Moon that he had no desire to have anything to do with Thanos. Also, Thanos had wanted to kill him not to recruit him. Matt could understand being nervous about Oliver if he had had to make a choice to joining Thanos or not, but that hadn't been the situation.

Matt wasn't surprised when Flynn stormed out. He had been expecting it from the hot-headed agent almost since Matt had joined the Secret Warriors. He glanced at Cass. He wondered if she would go after him since Bonnie wasn't. Then looked to Hill as she gave the address. "We should get going. If we beat Rogers to his place we might be able to get him by surprise." Matt said. He didn't want to step on Cass's toes so he waited to see if she had something to say before standing.

Andy high fived Arthur. The storm and the lightning seemed to charge her. Andy's face was bright as she drew more electricity and hit another Venti. It died immediately. She remembered fights that had seemed so close and running and hiding and all the things that had happened to her on the run. Andy had been scared during those times. She had known nothing but fear and trying to survive.

Now she had fear, but it was tempered with some happiness. She was having fun. She felt powerful. That was what the camp had given her. Hope. Andy didn't know if that was good or bad.

She turned back to the Venti from Arthur and sent off another blast of the lighting that had been a part of her since before she could remember. It hit one of the Venti, which stopped moving. Arthur had the vacuum pack thing so she let him worry about getting it before letting more electricity hit another. This one still stood so she hit it again. It fell too.

"Oh no..." Emily said as Marco called her over to the Preator's table. She did not like politics but it seemed Marco deemed the conversation important for her. She stood, grabbed her chair, and moved toward their table. Madalyne dropped a bomb on them though saying they would be going to speak with Atlas. "Uh, what? Are you sure?" She glanced at Nancy. Emily knew that Nancy didn't like being around her. Emily knew why, she was an intuitive person she could make some guess. Though, Emily didn't know the full story so she didn't know why Nancy didn't like Baccus or her ability of madness.

"Yes, we are certain. Please sit." Niah said. She wasn't a Preator but her words carried weight. She also smiled gently at Waverly. "Waverly, this will be a good chance for you to prove yourself." There was a lot to explain. "I'm afraid there is a lot we should explain." Her voice was soft and caring. Much like Niah was herself.

Emily sat down with her borrowed chair at the Preator's table. "Well, we've got a bit of time I suppose." Emily said. She liked quests. She liked the adventure. Emily was especially thankful that she would be going with Marco. Who she leaned over to and whispered "Hope you like your lunch." She looked between the Preators and Niah, "You have my attention."

"Nancy would be best to explain part of it, but Emily and Marco you were both here when we went to get the gem from Mount Rushmore. That is involved in what we'll be facing." It all felt so long ago. Emily and Marco had been with the camp longer than any of the three of them that had been on that mission. As Niah thought back on it she laughed to herself about the young man Donald. She hated the kid and remembered the fear that the senate at the time would force her to go on the quest with him. The Gem had been her quest. Nancy's vision had been tied to her with it, and after Nancy had had the vision they had come to this very coffee shop to talk about it before going to the Senate. She had been so scared and nervous and young.

Dalisy had no desire to be going on the rapids again with Lara. Honestly, she had no desire to go anywhere with her. "Uh, no thanks." Dalisy said to Lara. She did her best to keep her disdain out of her voice but doubted she did a very good job of it.

She laughed at Arnora's threat. "I'd spar you." She said, following Arnora to the elevator. "I'll ride with you, but drop me off on my floor if you don't mind." Dalisy said. That was the limit of the amount of time Dalisy could keep from saying something unpleasant to Lara.

In the elevator, Dalisy pressed the button for her floor, 301. She'd have a chance to change out of wet clothes and shower before dinner this way. Maybe work on something in her room for a bit. She had a few partial projects to work on.
