Unfortunately most people aren't really motivated to fight for the sake of fighting, they're usually motivated because there's some sort of incentive involved. In a situation where it is just War for the sake of the War, but it's also a War that no one seems to be making any actual progress on, it's not surprising that discontent with the status quo is going to increase without either financial or material incentives to keep going.

Or because they've been brainwashed, but you already nixed that idea.

I believe that incentive isn't much of an issue. There's plenty of room for whatever cause characters are dedicated to. Its not very different from a setting like Warhammer 40k, for example. The prospect may be grim, but you still need to fight because not only can you try to do what you believe in/want to, but also because even if victory is unlikely, of you give up, defeat is certain.

In other words, you fight not to win, but to avoid losing, pretty much like any other War that had dragged for too long.

@Flamelord@KoL
I mean characters have individual motivations. To my knowledge, Juno, Balrog, and Graf are the only ones that fight for the sake of fighting.

Seriously speaking, I don't think that that is Juno's current goal. When I first introduced her, I was very discontent with Eclipse Princess as a character for reasons that don't need to be explained again. This she was an empty character. I changed my mindset now and trying to evolve her through more than one channel, some of those changes should have been perceptible on Hohenheim's event.

In other words, while fighting is Juno's Raison d'Être, it's not the most important thing for her anymore.
Tends to happen. Your best bet is to grab this bull by the horns and ride out the wave when it comes. I'm sure there'll be an interlude after this battle too. Rally your peeps and get something done. You should have roughly a week before the next major battle begins.

Huh? Are you nuts? The Demons are going to invade Celestia before the current skirmish is even finished. I don't think they this makes up for a lot of downtime in the near future.

@Inner Demon I mean, we don't want characters from different factions to intermingle needlessly. I guess that it got lost somewhere in the middle of the way between the OP and now, but the War of the Triumvirate is supposed to be a conflict that is older than almost anyone can remember. The reasons why the War began are meaningless. All that everyone know is War for War's sake. We never lied about this to anyone, that's why I find the total hate so many characters have for the War to be so apaling. One or two deluded pacofists is a thing but more than that feels strange.
@KoL I noticed both of our characters work at a bookstore. Shall we have them be co-workers?

Sure, why not? Though the kind of store I had in mind is an old/used bookstore, because it works better with the cozy atmosphere of this RP.
<Snipped quote by TheWindel>

Yes, but there's that certain, I don't know what, that separates "I love to hate this character" like Sliske, and "I am so salty we are saving you" like Victoire.

Victoire was never meant to be likeable in first place, so I get that at least this got through. Like the others, I'm trying to change her from a cardboard cutout. If that will ever happen and if it'll happen the way I want it to happen, that's another story.
@The 42nd Gecko

Except that Victoire is actually a strategist expert in crowd control tactics, she really knows how to turn the tide of battle in the Demons' favor, just look at how much a nuisance she is whenever she's deployed. The thing is that nothing ever goes according to plan and for some stupid reason she gets cheapshotted everytime I bring her up. The worst is that people always find where she's hiding without even getting clues first (Right @Banana Bonesword?). This tends to ruin any strategist's day.

Second, she usually just gives directions, but rarely tries to order people around. This time she was the biggest team player in the whole battle, without a doubt. But, because shit always happens the Demons may still lose.

Nobody can say that it's her fault, though.

For Eos, she was never meant to be a really compelling character. The fact that I can never use as many characters as I want to precludes any form of development for her here on this RP. Also, there's the fact that if I ever deploy her, I cannot use Ni-Mu which is a much more promising character which (given enough time) will see some development. Like most of my characters, they are born of very bland concepts, but given enough time and proper circumstances all of them develop into unique individuals. I just don't know if I'll have this kind of time for all of them here.
@Mega Birb @Banana @Lucius Cypher

Hey, guys, the OOC is already to fast for some of us when we are talking about relevant issues. A few posts out of context aren't a problem, they can be even good to get freshen the spirits, but between you three, you have taken about a whole OOC page already.

Don't you think you should move this parallel conversation to a PM, or something like this?

Current Location: Celestia

"So they have found a way inside the Nexus," Iona said as she listened to Zeruel's accounts of the battle at Arcadia, before opening the message and reading it. "Arcadia is a very borderline territory, it's likely that that whole battle was a ruse to weaken the barrier. I'll need to get Juno back here at this moment," the Dark Archangel said more to herself than to Zeruel.

Finally, once she was done reading the contents of the letter, Iona directed her attention at Zeruel once more. "Prepare whoever you can, we will likely have another conflict before the skirmish at Arcadia is due," she said, after a moment of silence. "This may as well be beginning of another great crisis."

"What kind of disorder is happening on Hell? I knew that leaving it without a proper advisor would be a problem in the long run," Iona thought. "Why someone like the Black Goat is even here? Did she take advantage of whatever loophole they used as well?"

It was obvious to Iona that Lucille knew way too well what she was getting herself into. Even if the Dark Archangel couldn't spare the time to get a detailed reading of what was transpiring on the Halls of the Hell, she could feel all those wild fluctuations of power and the clearly brewing intent to strike down Celestia.

"Take the message to the Imperator. She shall give you directions on what to do after gathering your troops. I have my own mission to fulfill in a very short order," Iona turned her back to Zeruel and began to leave. Suddenly she turned on her heels, as if remembering something, and said, "You may read the contents of the message if you so do wish." After saying all she had to, the Dark Archangel made a brief pause so that Zeruel may say anything on his mind.

In case nothing else were to be said Iona would depart as soon as Zeruel turned his attention to other chores.

The contents of the mysterious missive, in case Zeruel decided to read it was the following message:

If you do not want your war to be ruined, you will have to best us. Spread this message to the other parts of your "Triumvirate" as well.

"Your Ragnarok will not be coming today."

@KoL

We don't need two snakes.

Off to detention again, then. Yet it would be good to illuminate people on the higher orders of reality.

Well, whatever.
