No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

Woooo-sah.

Ben didn't miss a beat, drinking in the hot, black c o f f e e he needed to keep his wits about him. Coffee. Bitter. Bitter coffee. Fixate on that. The coffee.

"It was pretty... Chaotic. And Lauren and I have a very different definition of 'accident'." The brown-haired boy commented, taking another drink of the coffee and casting a glance Amy's way. He held up his closed notebook towards Lauren by way of answer, then elaborated; "I woke up early, decided to get some work done instead of going back to sleep. It's a Saturday, so I haven't got much else to do."

"I'll swing by the armory later, see about getting acquainted. And you and I have a date with a new tonfa."

@Write @NarayanK @Lucius Cypher @Lugubrious

If we're voicing opinions here, then I figure it's my civic duty to weigh in.

I've been playing RPs like this for just shy of a decade, on this site and on others. I once tried to tally up how many games I had played in that time and I got up past forty before I realized that there was no way to remember all of them. I have GMed or Co-GMed almost half of them. I presently help run a game that has lasted for more than ten years, four of which I have been staff for, one that is entering its fifth year, and another finishing its second. I have been playing RWBY games on Guild so long that the only people I recognize from way back then are Lucius and Kaithas, more than three years ago. Kaithas isn't all that much more active, and Lucius is mellower without Irish Tree and Sixsmith to play off of, but they're pretty easy to recognize.

Normally I might put my hat in the ring, but I don't have the time and I don't have the desire. Part of the reason that I enjoy this game so much is that I get to just play. No executive responsibilities.

But I rattle all of those credentials off (credentials that half a dozen of the people in this game can verify) so that when I comment on the options you (plural you) understand that it is with a not insubstantial amount of experience. I couldn't support Write or Nara more wholeheartedly as options for another co-GM.

Both, more often than not, are the voices of reason in occasionally rather heated debates. Write in particular excels at being diplomatic, though he (as usual) tries to undersell himself. The controversies that he claims seem to follow him rarely are any fault of his own, and he is always quick to try and resolve them. He is active, he stays up-to-date with most of the happenings in the game, and he has a level head squarely on his shoulders.

I'd support Nara for many of the same reasons. He's quite active, he is well-liked by literally everyone, and he is an excellent voice of reason when arguments are occurring.

Both would be ideal choices.

I wouldn't nominate Lucius for many of the same reasons I wouldn't nominate myself; he is frequently one of the belligerent parties in debates that occur. That in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. As I said, that is one of the reasons that I wouldn't put my own name forward. But by his own admission arguments over Gren's cybernetic are likely to crop up, and his sense of humor can be misinterpreted rather easily to lead to arguments like we saw only a few days ago. No offense to you, Lucius, but I would much rather support a new co-GM that is not likely to be the cause of any controversy. You are rather good at being the voice of reason yourself, but that only really counts when you're not one of the parties you're trying to bridge the gap between.

Just my two cents on the matter.
Hm. Getting tired of finding burgeoning shitstorms in this OOC half the times I check my subscriptions.

Maybe any actual issues people need addressed should be moved to PM conversations? If only to stop cluttering the OOC with arguments a good chunk of us will only skim at best? Honestly, I only have a vague idea of the issue at this point because whatever people actually involved in this are talking about is getting buried under random mudslinging and people trying to put words in each others' mouths.

Honestly, while I understand the irritation, public discourse is important.

Having all of the important discussions happen behind closed doors means only the people directly affected know about it.

Which is kind of the root of a large number of these issues.
Honestly that's all I can picture, too.

How else would you navigate this clusterfuck? XD I just skim and hope I don'T miss a change in rules or something, I both work and study, there's not time to read stuff like discussion about RP unrelated anime other people like times the number of players here.

Also I did ask for another character about 7 months ago in a PM but that slipped a memory I guess...

Keeping up with the OOC really isn't hard. I haven't looked here since last night and just caught up over the course of about fifteen minutes, including the time I spent deciding what music I wanted to listen to.

I don't expect everyone to have my inhuman reading speed, but it really isn't hard. Most posts that are completely irrelevant are obvious as such; image-only posts, video-only posts, and replies of that nature are easy to spot and are clearly of a low priority. Wall of text? Probably worth at least skimming. A multi paragraph post from a GM or co-GM? Definitely worth skimming, if not reading in detail.

No one expects anyone to read every single post in the IC or OOC, but it really isn't hard to skim and figure out what needs to be read. Nor is it hard to at least keep somewhat aware of what changes and events are going on IC.

I won't pretend to keep up to date with everything, but I do keep aware of any larger gatherings of characters or discussions in the OOC. Whether they're related to me or not. It just makes things easier for everyone when someone isn't going to be blindsided by something that has been discussed or something that has occurred just because it wasn't immediately relevant to them.
@HereComesTheSnow

You say that like it's a bad thing. Stupid sure, but people have had worse reasons to do stupid things. Besides, all attempts at satire aside this way we can properly address Pricilla's limbo status as a student, give some more tragedy to Robert, and none of it has to be sexualized. All I really need is permission to make use of Pricilla.

Why, though?

Seriously. What reason is there for it?

Priscilla was viciously savaged on a mission that was much, much more than any freshman team should have been expected to handle. Robert doesn't need any more tragedy, it's already a meme at this point, and Priscilla's limbo status can be addressed by the fact that she was traumatized and elected to leave school of her own accord.

Anything else is disrespectful to the character, whether her writer is here anymore or not. Choosing to leave because of what she faced leaves agency with her, is respectful to her character, and adds emphasis to the realities a Hunter or Huntress in training faces.

Anything else is just disrespectful. and frankly, unnecessary.
Hmm. Possibly, as part of Gren's own research into utilizing Aura as an energy source.

Without kneecaps, it won't be able to use it's extra feet. Besides, it's more fun to blow it's brains out its jaw than to take the whole head off!
