Oh well, either way, I'm proud of the character development and Sigils progress with writing something emotional. That's a huge branch out for him. (And the first IC character development for the entire RP) - Kuddos @Sigil - it's been a pleasure to see the character growth.

There is a vast difference between adding in a former staff member who offers to help and anyone that offers to help. Thing is, when people offer to help who haven't been tested yet as a moderator it can lead to many issues. Sure there are plenty of people that wish to help but until the staff has time, this is a good middle ground.

And you don't just want to put in anyone as a mod who offers that hasn't been a mod on these forums before. That leads to far too many problems. There is a big difference between those who offer to help and those that are helping. Seen far too many people in the past on other forums who offered to help get moved up the ranks and in the end either did nothing or only caused problems because of attitude and "power trips" - to get a new mod to the mix takes time.

They need to check how long someone has been here, are their complaints against them, do they have experience elsewhere, can they prove that, and god only knows what else they do before bringing in someone new. Are they going to consider someone who is primarily an Rper or a GM? Which could give a good look into the person and if they will mesh well with the current staff. Sure, someone offered but hey, if they have a track record of flaking out of Rp's or always posting "sorry can't post for this that or the other" and giving excuses not to keep up - then they would be a bad choice as a Moderator - if they can't keep up with an RP, how can they handle the added responsibility of a modship?

Granted, I have no clue on their vetting process here, I just know what tactics I have used in the past on other forums to bring in new mods. Things I look at personally. (And normally, unless it is an extreme circumstance I never would promote anyone that offered that I hadn't worked with in the past.)

But then again, that is my usual two copper pieces on it.

On another note - anyone know if changes were made to the code as of yet? The forum is running smoother for me, especially when accessing my pm's and my profile page. I am wondering if that is a code change or if the servers are just behaving.

Sunie cocked a brow as the phone was answered, pushing her index finger into one ear to try to hear the woman better. The sounds in the background of wherever Flo was plus the sounds of her sisters "getting ready" to go was making this a lot more difficult than it should have been. "No, it was nothing like that Flo. You over paid on the deposit. I wanted to know if you just wanted me to credit your shop account here towards the final payment or if you wanted to come pick up the extra." Sunie tried speaking up as best she could without yelling, wanting Flo to have an easier time than she was yelling.

Her sisters pushed their way out of the back of the show, Sana carrying a dark black case and Lola twirling keys on the end of her fingers. "We'll be back in a bit," Sana said and Sunie gave her a slight nod as Lola grabbed her jacket from the rack near the door and slipped it on before skipping outside. The bell ringing as the door settled back into place once they were both outside.

Shaking her head she peeked behind the curtain as she waited for Flo to respond and saw the mess they had made. Well she didn't figure Sana made the mess, Lola was the sloppy one. Oh well it could have been worse. There had been more than one occasion when Lola had left the back room and nearly burned the place down because she had left something burning or too close to the hearth. At least time it was nothing that a little time and a broom couldn't fix.

It seemed the little exchange with the barrel end of Anisa's pistol was enough to render Gene silent, walking with Dorothy to her quarters. The woman didn't say anything, just looking over at Dorothy before shutting the door with Dorothy on the hallway side and her on the inside. What she did in there was anyone's guess but whatever it was she made sure not to be heard. That was if she was doing anything.

The Captain had been focused on making her way back to her quarters, well what she was calling her quarters for now. Then she changed her mind. Wandering over to the galley and looking around. The place seemed to be empty but that didn't surprise her. The ship had had a skeleton crew when she took over and it was what was considered the night shift now. At least she thought it had been empty, that was until she heard the tell tale sound of am empty bottle landing on the ground and threatening to but not yet breaking. Cocking a brow she drew her side arm, this was getting to a pattern. Slowly she stepped towards the sound and peered over the counter into the kitchen area. There sitting sprawled out on the ground was what appeared to be a very drunken Jahosafat. Letting her finger off the trigger she sighed.

"I do declare, aren't you the vision of an angel," he said, his speech slurring horrifically. Rolling her eyes Anisa holstered her side arm.

Up at the Foyer, Atticus gave a cockeyed glance towards Foy and shrugged. The man might claim to not be a mystery but he sure as hell didn't understand the man: granted he might just need to brush up on his vocabulary. Might want to get one of those one a day word calendars. Then he thought maybe Foy wasn't such a mystery after all. Many a people thought the Preacher was a mystery and he wasn't, he was rather an open book as well but people had a hard time wrapping their head around a Preacher who sinned. Granted most Preachers sinned in one way or another but they hid it. Atticus was rather open with his vices.

Sitting back down in the hair he got comfortable. He didn't want to upset Foy and end up walking around the ship with half cut hair. Then he be forced to shave it all off and let it grow back evenly. The hell he was going through that... Again! "Well I for one prefer to not have to raise my hands but even God has to smite the occasional sinner. When push comes to shove I prefer neither the fist or the bullet. I prefer the boom, big booms, with all the colors of hell burning," he said and grinned. The man had a love for explosives.

@Buddha I can understand the apprehension, yet the Mod Staff has had some bad eggs in the past. So for them to pick someone new they haven't dealt with before on a moderator level is an unreasonable request. Ruby has a track record with them, they know her. It seems fitting that if they have re-promoted her and she is taking up the mantle again. Especially with as much as many of us were pushing for an expanded Moderator team. It was a good middle ground compromise that helped both the staff and the Rpers.

They could very well add more moderators over time, new blood to the mix. Yet that takes time and vetting. It's a slower process. This at least gives us 2 very positive things - One, it lets us know they are listening. Two, it shows us they are working for the betterment of the community.

I am sure everything is being looked at, just certain things take priority over others. Keeping the guild from constantly timing out and making it hard for people to post I would think would be the top right now.

And we know at least some of the concerns expressed by us have/are being dealt with. A new mod was added, which will hep the current mod load as well as let even more be looked at in the long run. Seems like a very good step to me.
