This is a drawing, a word which here means "a picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen, or crayon rather than paint", depicting Count Olaf.
Downstairs guy came home early. My internet is back up.

I have conferred with a couple of the other players (namely Kafka and Propro) and we've all reached a conclusion as to why we've lost interest in this RP. The chief reason is that you've been very disengaged from the managing process. We've been given places to be in, sure, but not much stuff to work with, and you haven't been motivating us to post. The choices our characters make and the things we do have felt like they don't matter; we get more the impression that we're an audience for a spectacle you're putting on and we're just along to react to it, rather than essential elements of an interactive story. I can't speak as much for the Hyrule group, but for the Gourd Lake crew, I'm definitely inclined to think this way. The most interesting thing that happened was a clash of personalities when several characters met. As for the introduction of the Big Sisters, it was more of a spectacle than something to engage in, given that there was never any actual fight--all attacks were either flawlessly dodged (Kaiser) or canceled out (Henry), and individual powers were effortlessly seen through (The Spy).

That was exactly the point. From the introduction of the Big Sisters to their departure was the equivalent of the scripted intro at the beginning of a video game. It was the fight with Bowser at the beginning of Paper Mario where you technically have control but the only outcome possible is that you loose horrifically and have to be saved by the Star Spirits. The actual interactive part would have come with the arrival of Elinor Lamb, a sixth Big Sister who's not evil, would present some information for everyone to work with then leave the course of the quest up to those involved. I was waiting for a reaction post from everyone to the Big Sister's departure and the earthshaking before I had her surface in Gourd Lake. In contrast I will admit the Hyrule crew did have quite a bit more freedom which perhaps was an oversight on my part (that you guys didn't have that freedom, not that they did) but essentially the same thing would have happened when they arrived at the Temple of Time and met with Navi and Kaepora Gaebora, been apprised of the situation and then decided on a course of action.

In addition, on a few occasions we've attempted to spur you into action to fix the situation, and nothing has come of it. I believe ProPro has stated problems and suggested changes only to be ignored, and I have purposefully withheld from writing an uninteresting reaction post for Henry to see if you would check in with me as to why I'm not posting, or if you would just move on after a while, but that hasn't been the case.

I believe @ProPro's criticisms were mainly about some less then realistic expectations I had regarding adapting video game characters to the current setting. I took what he said and more or less backed off my harshness on CS submissions, instead of trying to rationalize characters I just made sure the CSes weren't overpowered and were written well enough for everyone to understand. If there was something else he said I guess I just missed it. That's a bad mistake on my part but I wasn't ignoring him purposefully.

If I'm being honest when two thirds of the RP routinely disappears for several days at a time one member refusing to post in order to get the attention of the GM doesn't really register cause they blend in with the five other people who are just not posting and I'd already tried to GM my way past the block as best I could with the departure of the Big Sisters. There wasn't anything that could be done with the narrative without some input from the characters. I'll admit that leading up to that I could have done more to keep the RP running and make it more fun for everyone but at that point the only option I really had was to see if you guys would show you were still interested by posting in the IC or just decide to let it die cause it wasn't fun anymore. You chose the latter.

To summarize, we are feeling as if the mostly hands-off strategy you've taken to managing is not blending well with the limited creative freedom you've given us in the meantime. This was the case with the Demons RP you tried a while ago as well, I believe. I am sorry that things turned out this way, and I hope this criticism does not tarnish our friendship, but I must formally withdraw.

The Demons RP died for more or less the opposite reason. The players were given infinite creative freedom and a mostly defined world to work with but little direction. In consequence everyone clung onto my character cause they didn't know what I was expecting of them and didn't want to risk putting their own ideas into less defined areas of the world in case it clashed with my vision when in reality that is exactly what I wanted. It was basically my fault but not for the same reasons that this failed.

@Everyone, with the loss of @Lugubrious, @ProPro, @Scarifar and the tentative participation of @Kafka Komedy we've lost seven characters spanning both locations which is too much for the story to conceivable continue. It was a pleasure working with you all and I hope do to it again at some point in the future. I'm sorry to our new recruits, especially @Multi_Media_Man (who hasn't really gotten to do anything) that they won't be able to move forward in the story and I'm sorry to the original cast if my GMing got us to this point. Good luck everyone with your future RPs.

Good news, downstairs guy got food poisoning so he had to come home early. My internet is back up.
@LadyRunic As I am no longer a part of this RP and lets be honest here we aren't parting on good terms I would request that my work be removed from the RP. Not my IC posts, I don't want to tarnish the narrative or cause a giant headache. I mean the ideas such as my description of the Spring Court. Since it has become rather embedded in the story you can continue to use Yggdrasil for the purpose that has been described but I would request that my writing regarding the Spring Court from the initial post be removed. I don't really care if you use the same base concepts or simply paraphrase what I wrote but I don't want my words used as part of the lore for an RP I'm not involved in. I hope you can understand.

@Belle It was a pleasure working with you and I hope some time to be able to do so again. I'm sorry if at any point I made you feel your work wasn't up to scratch. You are a very imaginative person and a good story weaver. My hunger for precision and specificity got ahead of my manners and for that I apologize.

@BlackPanther I'm not going to pretend I enjoyed your company. I feel you could stand to put a bit more effort into your work. You have amazing promise but you never seem to go the extra mile. Disregarding that though I am sorry for all the trouble I caused as I feel I was particularly harsh to you. I never intended things to get as far out of control as they did. Usually I pride myself on being polite if a little critical, I let that fall by the wayside here and especially with you for which I am deeply sorry.

@Ojo chan 42 I believe all of the issues I raised with regards to your work were valid however looking back I should have been more tactful and polite about the way in which I went about addressing them. Perhaps mentioned them to the GM rather than simply calling you out on all of them in public. When I was suspended from the RP, the first thing you did was post a new character (or NPC rather) to the OOC along with something along the lines of "It's safe to post now". If I'm being honest that hurt, a lot. When I critique someone it is never about making them feel bad about their work. For me it is always about either helping them to understand the setting better so their work more easily blends into it or to help them develop their concepts overall, both of which where my intent with you. I never considered that from your perspective it probably looked like I was stomping all over something you'd put a great deal of effort into. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings or made you feel your writing wasn't good enough, they were all decent ideas and fairly well done, they just needed a little bit of tuning logistically to make work. Unfortunately the way I went about it was the equivalent of of repairing a Playstation 3 with a crowbar instead of a precision screwdriver. I apologize for creating an environment in which you didn't feel safe raising your voice about your own ideas because you were afraid I would tear them down.

@shylarah Of everyone I felt I got on with you quite well with you. I don't think I did anything specifically against you that I need to apologize for however I should say I'm sorry for the state I left this RP in overall. I had a bit of an aggravating effect on most everyone in this RP which lead to very unpleasant climate between us all. For that I am sorry.

@LadyRunic I feel I should say one last thing before I go. You're obviously very protective of your work and with good reason, you are an excellent writer with a decent imagination. However when you encounter someone like me (cause I know I'm not the only critical person on this site) try to deal with the problem more objectively without taking any personal offense (cause any you might perceive probably wasn't intended). If you make the issue personal the person causing problems looses the ability to see when you are telling them they are causing an issue that is damaging to the entire RP and when you're just annoyed with them cause they're there.

I believe at the point you said:
You truly angered me. I do not forgive when I am wronged in RP. Only a handful of people exceed that rule. All of them are closer than kin to me. The RP is LIFE for me, and has done much to keep me sane. I don't look at this as a rivalry. I look and will continue to do so, should you not heed the warning Zahrale gave you to mellow out, at you as a threat. A threat to my RP, to my plot. You, who will pick holes and complain about everything. You who will drive me to the point of asking the admins to delete that thread. To leaving the Group RP scene for good. I can take a lot but you tipped the scales and became a threat, a stress point, and one I could remove. My patience left when you began being a absolute jerk. If you heeded my dearest friend, this would not have happened but you kept pushing.

Following that I became completely unable to tell when I was causing problems for the RP and when I was just annoying you specifically cause you were in a bad mood. I am very sorry for a lot of things I said in this RP but perhaps this wouldn't have gotten so far out of control if you'd been a bit more objective when dealing with me. I'm not looking to argue the point. After this post I am as you said done with this RP since you don't want to afford me the chance to write Nyx out as was my original intention before leaving. I'm guessing our paths won't cross again but I've learned something from this experience, unpleasant as a lot of it was: Patience and serenity are the best tools to dealing with people, especially when you're reliant on them. You might try to take something away from this too as those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

@Everyone: I wish you all good luck with continuing this RP. I hope it goes well for you and I am deeply sorry for the disruptions I've caused before now. It was a pleasure to work with you and I hope you all keep writing, you're all quite talented. Goodbye everyone and good luck.
@Everyone I'm going to be offline for the next week or so. I live in a split level and the modem is located downstairs. About once a month it has to be reset cause its a really crappy modem. The guy downstairs went on vacation for the next week and the modem needs its monthly resetting now but he refused to grant the landlord access to his apartment unless he's present (which sort of defeats the purpose of the landlord coming to fix it) so until he gets back I'm not going to have any internet access save for what I can scare up at the occasional internet cafe. I'm writing this on my phone's wifi but I just got a text saying my data is about to expire so I can't do that anymore until my next cycle. I'll see you all in a week or so. If I'm lucky.

Does anyone here watch Legends of Tomorrow?
It's mostly all the new characters. I have no doubt I could easily continue with Kaiser but I've lost track of what's happening with Red in Hyrule Field. You said the RP wouldn't be able to lose Denys, but what about Red?

Either way, I'll try and read through all the posts after my last again. Maybe I just missed something.

The only thing that's happened with Red is Terra saved her from the glitch monster and they ran two or three blocks into Castle Town to get away from it. None of the new characters have met her yet. Also there was a world shifting earthquake thing.
Okay.
