Bio
Hello! I'm LadyRunic! But you knew that...
I love most types of Role Play, but by far my favorites are those that are well thought out and worked with. Especially when you can find a group you can work well with. I love books- So many books. It's a running bet that I will become buried under a pile of said objects one day... I'm a tad busy, and when an Rp really catches my interest I'm inpatient for posts. It's like reading a good book and getting stuck on a cliff hanger.
You can generally expect posts regularly once a week if not more.
I've RP'd for the better part of fourteen years, so I can honestly say I have some experience and I've developed the understanding of what I expect of a partner in a one-on-one or a group. I'm also the sort who will speak up and point out something if it looks off or forms a problem to me. I spent most of a year once stuck in a Voice Chat Rp that was hell on Earth, so I'm straight forward when I need to say something. I expect this in return from my Rpers and DMs. I want to improve my writing and love constructive criticism.
@AndreyichI think I spoke wrong then. Part of that 'mini-adventure'. the initial point is the caravan you start with. Essentially I'm going to have you be with it, for whatever your reason for being there is. Where are you going and why. I believe you weren't asking for the railway name as the station your getting on.
Sorry, I'm dead exausted and have been pouring over Lore for the entire day. So please excuse me if I misunderstand something.
Okay, you have the caravan, the people in it. Basically I am planning to give everyone some time to post to get a feel for the caravan and the people in it. Not to mention to feel out your characters myself. The caravan I plan to have attacked by Orc of something of the sort. Taking several people, perhaps even characters, with them in the raid. From there, I do hope there would be enough morally alligned people to go after them and help simply because these are Orcs. Not something anyone wants roaming about. From there I'm sketching out several sub plot ideas and routes but the characters will shape what I throw at you from there. I won't make it easy, but I won't make it impossible unless you go into a impossible situation. Most of these routes will revolve around characters, NPCs, I've made. Events going on in the War of the Ring or events leading to it.
Sorry for the hectic writing. I'm running on caffine right now.
@Andreyich Plot... Like I said, this takes place between Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. So you have what goes on there going on. Plus the plot isn't really. "Oh let's go down this railroad track."
It draws from what you want to do in the world. Do you want to go see Moria and reclaim it or some treasure from within? Or are you a human traveling to Minas Tirith to join the battle against the re-awakening of Mordor? Are you a Elf finishing up loose ends of your business in Arda before heading to Valinor? Are you a traveling musician, or a thief on the run?
So it has that going on. Plus what I as the Dm throw at you. Will you be attacked by a group of Orcs? Will you take refuge in a cave to find it inhabited by goblins? Then you have events that would be spawned by the world itself. The War of the Ring and the event between that and the Hobbit. Frodo getting the ring, Gandalf's traveling. The Elves leaving Middle Earth.
In the beginning, the Valar aided Eru in composing the Music, which became the World. Though they were the instruments, He was the conductor; they could hear their sounds and those of their peers, but the truth of the Music was greater than them, and belonged to Eru. For better or for worse (only Eru knows), the universe has marched to this same rhythm since the beginning of time. And will continue to, until the Doom of the World comes to pass, all is unmade, and the Second Music brings about paradise eternal.
With such a fate looming over all things, it is a wonder anything of interest happens. How can life be worth living, when the whole of the universe is still ticking to the beat of a drum set down an eternity ago? There follows a curious fact, but a logical one, that the less we know, the more surprises await us. And by seeing the world through the eyes of beings far less grand than the Gods, we are given the gift of exploration for its own sake. We look for the sake of looking, we walk for the sake of walking, we are for the sake of being. There are those that accept the immobility imposed by the icy hand of Doom that grasps us all... but there are those who feel that their part must be played, even when there is no script.
Thus it is rightly said, not all those who wander are lost.
And there are tales yet untold in the land we now know as Middle-earth. Tales that bear telling, and will hopefully be worth the getting of a biscuit or two and a cup of tea before settling in to hear them. So, we shall fill a pipe and speak of tales long since past and forgotten. Deeds not sung of, but never forgotten.
This will be a Middle-earth based role play, drawing from the lore set down by Tolkien but with a little bit of wiggle room to allow for more creativity. If you're unfamiliar with the lore, don't worry about it too much; you don't need to be great or even good, since the focus of this RP is not going to be about how amazing your character is, but what they do.
One may simple walk into Mordor.
This will take place between Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. So there will be events going on, and I shall be DMing them and many of the main characters. Unless someone offers a viable option with solid reason. If this takes off it will start with everyone in or near a merchant/ traveling caravan. So keep that in mind. Your character is going to be out there and doing things. So keep that in mind. You have your own reasoning.
That said, you should come into this with an idea of the story you want to tell, and put in the effort needed to make it happen. Being apathetic and waiting for someone else to do the job will get you nowhere. If you don't want a story to be told, or you don't want to help someone tell a story, this is not the RP for you. If you just want to play an impossibly powerful yet (equally impossibly) nubile 16-year-old wizard or some generic lone-wolf badass, this is not the RP for you.
Rules- -Be respectful -Tell a story, don't just wait for it too be happen. -Don't go poking holes in other people's character sheets. -You cannot be a dragon, balrog or such.
I'd like to start with three people, but I'm going to cap it at five. With possibility of more should it work well.
Have a extra spot for a elf. And tickle me silly if it's a Nandor elder!
CS: Name: Self explanatory.
Age, Gender, Race: If you don't know much about Tolkien lore, here's the brass tacks: humans are humans, like we are now. NĂºmenoreans are humans, but generally a bit taller and live longer (200 years or so). Dwarves are Dwarves, they remain spry up to about 300 ~ 350 years. Elves are effectively immortal unless killed and are immune to all but the worse of diseases, but are more susceptible to emotional damage; an Elf can die of a broken heart. It has happened. Concerning Hobbits, they're about half the size of a human, big furry feet, and live to about 100 on average. Uruk-hai and Orcs are allowed in this RP, and we'll say their natural lifespan (which they rarely reach, due to their propensity for dying) is on par with humans. More esoteric things, like river spirits or what-have-you, can be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Just PM me.
Appearance: What we see when we look at you. No pictures, please, unless you find a picture that actually 100% matches your character. Which, if you care about your character, you are highly unlikely to accomplish. Unless you're an artist. In which case, go for it.
Equipment: Appearance is just what we see; not all equipment is seen. Let us know what you have so you don't just so happen to have exactly what the situation calls for.
Personality: Put in as little or as much as you want here. I'm not too concerned with this. Just remember, if your character doesn't want to be part of a story, or part of a group, this is not the RP for you.
Story: Everyone has a story to tell. This is not the story that has already been told; that's your Biography. Instead, give us a synopsis of the story you want to tell, what you want us to be a part of.
Biography: The history of your character. Also a good opportunity to discuss how they came to learn whatever skills and abilities they have.
And if someone wants a challenge. Try making a older elf, something along the age lines of Thrandruil or Elrond. Though I shall warn you, detail it. Make it thorough. Though I will warn, I will close a race if we get too much of that race. So keep it diverse.
The sun was yet rising, the day was young and filled with possibilities. Zarriia looked at the imposing cliff side and frowned with a puzzled expression. "My name is Aquilan. May I know yours?" The words broke her concentration upon the dunes of sand and the many scraps of boats. They would need better shelter, a steady source of food. And various other things. Glancing back at the elf, her face looking rather young and blankly open for a small second before her eyes sharpened and her lips twitched down in a frown.
What good would her name do them? But then again it was a civil thing. She grumbled a Drowish curse, turning back to look at the dunes. Stalking off across the dunes. "Zarriia Ma'doc." Not looking for a reply she walked, taking note of ships and dismissing fire wood. Looking for more supplies and weapons. Or access to more ships, or other little cubbies hidden amongst the dunes of the beach.
@Belle O_O Yeah stay safe. Understatement. STAY SAFE BELLE! We'll need you back here!
Yes guys, I am looking at continueing this, but I shall be actually Dming. So there would be a posting order of sorts. People could join. But if someone could get Seraph to remove his characters including Nyx that would be great. I'm not going to apologize for what was said, I needed to say it and get infront of this run away Rp.
Fact is guys, I just lack time right now. I DM voice for several hours a day when I can get my boyos together. I need my me time, I work, take care of a house and the stress of the Forums was getting to me. I'm not back yet but I'm hashing out more detail, more laws, more Lore. Because I will not have people yelling at me like they know better.
@shylarah Did you cause some of it? Yes. But thing is shy, you stopped when we asked you and pointed out what you were doing. IF you poke holes after that it was poliet and when ask you would cease on that route at least. I'm going to be honest here. Seraph simply insulted my Rp and that insulted me. He was pushy and rude and would not stop. I know I'm talking bad about him but I'm being honest right now and I'm still stressed. So I am sorry, but I just cannot allow him back in any way shape or form. We'll work something out for Sini I have a idea I could pull. I.e. Nyx is assassinated, and new ruler goes after assassin.
That's a whole nother kettle there. But I have relaxing to do. I'm not getting into this. I most likely will be back by the end if not sometime next month. I'm sorry guys, but I got to take a step back right now.
The Drow glanced up at the doves before dismissing them as not a threat. They were merely doves, but doves meant food. Tempting as it was to string her bow and hunt, it wasn't the time. Not yet. They had supplies, and if worst came to worst she'd resort to eating the elf. It was a horrible thing to do but it was a matter of survival. Zarriia was nothing if not a survivor. The ale would be useful, though not as a drink. It would not be worth while. Better to use it as a weapon, or fuel if it resorted to that. Wedging the ropes off she steadily worked it off the lid, pulling it off quickly. Her sword was ready to attack any threat or deflect it.
Letting the ropes remain on the other two she replace the lids and began to dig a pit of the fire. Adjusting it so it was higher on the side with a clear veiw of the beach. "Put the wood for the fire in there. Stack the rest in the boat to help weigh it down." She looked at the spare entrance, checking both the time and weather as she did so. "Don't drink the ale, may be of use later. Three boxes of rations." Her voice gave a deep chuckle. "You have a affinity with fire. Something comes up, dump ale on them and set it on fire." She grinned with a violent glee. "Sounds like a warm bonfire."
I'm taking a bit of a hiatus till life levels out. Also I want to let you guys know, I'm not sure I want to continue this. A lot of the fun has been pulled from it for me. @Prince of Seraphs I'm not going to be all nice right now because you're the main issue for this. With all the drama and people poking each others. It's very, very stressful. Also I have a better idea as DM what I'm doing. But as Zahrale is having life act up, I'm not going to hold hands.
Seraph, you're out. I cannot give Nyx a nice way out. Not with how I'm thinking and feeling about this whole RP. You are insulting rude and a stressor that has killed this RP for me, to the point I wonder if Rping at all in forums is worth it. I'm calling you on it because it needs to be said. This is not up for debate.
If I come back I'm going to enforce a posting order. I'm going to try to DM this better. But that's a big if right now. IF I COME BACK. Clean up your characters, put them in hiders. And if I hear one more person whining about how I'm being crude or rude or they don't like how something is... I'm sorry, but I'm at the point of too bad. I need to figure out what to do.
