Saying "the bible says" means nothing when up against an idea that spawned from the bible itself. It's really you saying "My sect says and mine is the one true interpretation." Which isn't a valid argument to me. :/
That's not the argument. The seven deadly sins just aren't in the Bible; it's a man-made idea that came after as an interpretation. What is, however, is 1 John 2:16 "For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world."

I know of the seven deadly sins, but they're not supported biblically. The Bible says that Greed, Lust, and Pride are the sources of all evil.
