Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Despite its massive flaws, my RP, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, is still one of the longest ongoing RPs in RPGuild - It turns 4 years old in July and the current thread itself is more than a year old.

@Zelosse, Can Myst meet up with Mithril?
@liferusher, nevermind, what I wanted to talk with you about might be lost in the current dispute.
@6slyboy6 Having fun is all well and good, but considering everyone's definition of fun is different and everyone has different tastes, it's good to remain mindful and respectful of others when it comes to RP :D That said, I think you did a pretty good job of managing balance with power by using the DnD set of rules, and using traditionalised runes for more powerful spells would help keep challenge about your character as well as making him not entirely useless. Since you're using an apparently otherworldly magic, that means you couldn't just find some special runes in a merchant's store and buy them out - they'd need to be hand-crafted by your character, yes? Something which would take considerable time and energy just to make a dozen or so ^-^ Not to mention if you take on board Liferusher's idea, it not only requires time, but also specific items which could be incredibly rare in Lugnica. It helps add good insight into future conflicts, making sure your character needs to always be prepared for a powerful engagement, which could lead to some interesting developments (i.e he rushes in to save a civilian or friend despite not being fully prepared).

Personally, and I know this is an invalid opinion because I don't have any authority, but personally I think the idea has some merit :P Of course it'll need to be fleshed out to the GM and co-GMs standards, but it seems to me like it could work, even if he can cast basically all types of magic. Maybe what he casts is dependent on his surroundings? Like a magic version of Castform? :D

I think the last part is unecessary; the idea of requiring special materials for each 'runic' element is enough for me.

Add that by magic then.

Oh! I like that idea. But perhaps adding a specific item he needs to make the runes. Like a specific chalk made from fireblosom or something to make a fire rune

Hey, you up for an IM Chat on Discord, or do you prefer to talk in forums? I have something to ask.
@ZekariVoblis, Edited.
@ZekariVoblis, ah, I thought only the clothes had changed. Will edit my post.
So...where should Myst start?
Alexander Sky

First, an investigator must lay out the facts.

He, after the plane crash, had ended up in a medieval-esque city, having only his solar-powered Kindle, the clothes on his back, a camera phone, and most importantly, his trusted Kalis, although it had been in the cargo hold of the plane when he had died. There was no sight of any modern technology, which would be present in even the most 'faithful' reconstruction of a medieval European city. Then, after a few rounds of wandering around the commerce district, just observing the habits, customs, speech, and of course, type of coinage used by the people, he had been cornerned by some footpads who wanted to grab his Kalis.

They had killed him, and that should have been the end of that. But, after a soul-harrowing ordeal through an eldritch dimension even he couldn't or didn't want to properly describe, he had returned where he was at 10 AM, Lugnica Time (there was a giant clockwork watch in the vicinty), with someone asking him a question he had brushed off aside last 'go':

"Are you a sellsword or something?"

This time, instead of disregarding the question, Alexander decided to lie, or, to ease his concsience, spin off a cover story.

"Yes, yes I am. I'm a bit of a novice, though, I'm seeking a master." This worked, and Alexander was sent off to a local mercenary guild that was looking for new members. Of course, he had to deal with the mercs poking fun at his' being a novice, but as soon as he proved his willingness to learn, they decided to provisionally allow him into their ranks. After that were a few expeditions to take care of monsters and beasts, which desentizized Alexander to the idea of killing to the point that when it was time to tackle bandits, he was able to do a satisfactory job of killing.

That was a few months ago.

The mercenary guild had offered to let him on as a permanent member, but Alexander had refused diplomatically, saying:

"Ah, there's something I'm looking for, someone I went to the Capital to find." He left enough hints to imply that it was a long-lost relative, so as to make it more understandable. That didn't change the fact that there were people he was looking for; he had seen people here that looked like missing people from Earth, and a few who may have worn Earth clothes at one time. This was a mystery that waited to be solved, and he'd been in enough taverns with the mercs to know that information and rumors were to be found there, and so the moment he had said his amicable goodbyes to the merc guild's master, he went to the nearest tavern. And the first person he gazed at was someone whose clothes and hair were Lugnican enough to deceive even a cursory glance from Alexander; it was 'Ease'.

Of course, looking at the blond man's eyes and expression, Alexander instinctively knew not to talk to him, nor the armored woman whom he was apparently talking to. Instead, the young man looked for other...interesting people, finding a large, possibly non-human man in armor that fully covered his body and who carried a Divine Blessing that, to his eyes, gave off a relatively weak silver glow and a short young man with two bright white and gold blessings that caused Alexander's eyes to strain. Nevertheless, he went to the two of them and said, first to the man in armor who, upon closer observation, carried a bow and lacked melee weapons:

"Hello there, good-looking," no, Alexander did not know that Ollie liked men 'sometimes'. He was guessing, and furthermore was taking advantage of the fact that sexual mores seemed to be looser in Lugnica than they were in actual Medieval Europe.

"So, what are you two talking about?" he then turned to Aleph, the short man only partially armored, and who, to Alexander's eyes, seemed to be largely depressed. "As for me, I'm seeking a job and people to have a job with, as well as to find out more about this here country; I came to the capital from a distant land." If they (and Ease) would observe him, they would see that Alexander wore a breastplate of steel without shoulder guards, and had a shield and his Kalis strapped to his back, and was furthermore clad in a Lugnican shirt and trousers, as well as tough leather boots. He also had a pack set down to the floor that contained some food and water, his Kindle and phone, and his old Earth clothes.
