OOC Reason (and one that's most important on a meta level):
-Because playing a Saitama/Ainz/Superman in play-by-post roleplay isn't fun for anyone, including myself.

IC Reason(s):
-We have established that Mythic grimoires aren't hilariously overpowered compared to the lower tiers. A single mythic can be overwhelmed by, let's say, 3 Legends (or 6 Fables) if the group knows what they're doing. Wendil can CMIIW me on this though.

-In Lumi's CS, it's hinted that Sefirot is pretty much the one inducing the god complex as it embodies the concept of angels as a whole, not just the nice, polite messenger-types, but the good yet harsh warrior types too. Being selfless beings devoted to a singular purpose (protecting humanity from the Pageless), Sefirot accepts that some sacrifices to preserve the greater whole is inevitable and that sometimes violence is the best course of action.

-Related to the previous point of angels being selfless, on the flipside, there's also Lucifer/Satan and his loyalists, which some people forget they're angels too and the Grimoire embodies all angels. How this fact relates to Lumiere remains to be seen...

Absolutely understandable. I know there's ways to make it work, but it's definitely a character that could more often than not be more trouble than they were worth in order to write a compelling story.

I'd imagine so. Powerful or not, Magical Girls practically specialize in overcoming far superior opponents with the Power of Friendship. Get a group of them together, and they can and will pull miracles out of their asses, no matter the odds.

Guess that was just my misreading on the god complex bit. It's been a hot minute since I actually reviewed Lumiere's CS, so that's my bad.

Iiiiiinnteresting.

“Sometimes, you can’t save everyone, so in those circumstances, save who matters the most.” I think is a lesson that Lumiere has embraced, but Camelot balks at. Which does make sense since it’s a pragmatic way of handling the topic of saviors. Lumi used to be like Cammie too, long ago, until she learned that sometimes, trying to save two people instead of one results in both of them dying.

Camelot has that Emiya Shirou syndrome.

Huh, seems like she just might at that!
This is most certainly a view of the world that Camelot will stubbornly oppose to the end. She respects Lumiere's power and experience, but Camelot thinks that the angel has lost touch with humanity over the century, that she's effectively a relic of another time's standards, who hasn't ever been forced to adjust or better herself due to being... well, an angel. Due to Camelot's internal struggles with her own Grimoire, it occurs to her that it would be fairly easy to lose yourself to all the glamor and glory (and self-righteousness) if you got one without already possessing a certain amount of powerful self-identity.

Yep, that’s how her god complex slowly but gradually develops over the decades. >:3

I might just be spit-balling here, but what if... the reason her powers aren't quite as hilariously over-the-top impressive as one might initially expect from a Mythic Grimoire is because said semi-sentient Grimoire isn't very happy about said budding god complex...? Hmmm.....

Questions for later.

Are you already causing chaos, Roma.

Seems she is.

Imagine Camelot siding with Merlin.

Indeed, imagine that...

(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)(/._./)

Ah yes, but by what metric do we judge those worth saving? Lumi is content to use her powers only against the pageless while Camelot broadens her horizons. If she flies over two muggings that end in fatal injuries just to save one person from a pageless, then her standards of justice contribute a greater evil born from inaction :3

Oddly enough, for all her criticism of the idealistic (read: sort of recklessly irresponsible) methods the Grand Ministry uses to train Magical Girls, Camelot is in her own way even more idealistic in her pursuit of a better future. She's not naive enough to think she can save everyone, but she's stubborn enough to make the attempt when given even the slightest chance.
Never abandon anyone. Save as many as she can, even at cost to herself.

Look at it this way. No matter how anyone falls there will be a devil and Angel waiting to steal their soul and mold them in their image. Roma just offers a better deal then “Serve Merlin till suffering horrid death by Pageless”

I don't know about you, but one of these two deals sounds a lot more appealing than the other...

Yes, Roma’s looking forward to having Camelot Alter as a friend and accomplice. Will make it easier to clip the angel’s wings and blacken them in the pitch of humanities infinite deprivations.

I wouldn't call it an impossibility. We certainly don't know quite yet how exactly Altered Grimoires come into being.
Do they start out that way?
Are they re-written after the fact?
Is it Pageless corruption somehow mixing in there?
Perhaps an Alter Grimoire can even be reverted to the original story, becoming a regular Grimoire.

Perhaps the GMs have this all figured out, or perhaps they're letting the players create the lore. So many fascinating possibilities...
I love everything about this conversation. XD
Honestly, this is probably Camelot's most fatal flaw. She attempts to take on far too many responsibilities at once and ends up stretching herself too thin whenever a new unexpected one pops up (as demonstrated in her first IC fight). This is the double-edged sword to her desire to help as many people as possible. She's going to have to get used to truly relying on the strength of other people for a change.
As far as Lumiere... paranoia towards one of the Grand Ministry's most prolific agents is such a wonderful thing.
Huh. Good to know. I shall account for that IC going forward.

Looks like Camelot has even more priorities on her plate. XD
Everyone forgot this is Suzuya's first time in London and doesn't know any English.

Hol' up. Seriously? It seemed very implied in her posts (with the dialogue with Lilac Shimmer) that she did.
I guess there was just a misunderstanding, and she was speaking in Japanese that whole time? I'll have to reread.
If so, it's sure lucky Camelot speaks Japanese then (as noted in her trivia)! Otherwise things would have been very awkward! XD
Thank ye.

Say, I'd think now seems like a good time for us to talk about what sort of downtime interactions we've got in mind. Cause I think we're supposed to have a brief break before the next group of Pageless.

You're welcome.

Assuming you're right and the plot doesn't roll in near immediately, I'd say first and foremost amongst downtime shenanigans is any girls that are interested taking some time to approach Nessie and help her get personally acquainted with everything that doesn't get covered by her initial introduction to the Grand Ministry.

Camelot is obviously going to perform her training routine where she has time, and she's also possibly to see about approaching Ethereal Rose, since IC, this is literally Olivia's first day in London and first mission by the Grand Ministry. She should be a fairly fresh face, aside from whatever impression she may or may not have given at Marrywell during the daytime (assuming she actually went to Marrywell already). Camelot only really knows her at all, because she keeps sort of obsessively overprotective tabs on any news of Alters that join up.

More urgently though, Camelot has to see about making relevant preparations for her Round Table feasts potentially being under Pageless threat going forward. I'm still planning exact details out on that end. Among other things, she may consider starting to invite other Magical Girls to her feasts to have backup, because she sure as hell isn't going to break her personal oaths to the people and stop doing said feasts. As a respected and experienced fellow king peer, Lilac Shimmer is definitely on her list of "approved to interact with her personal project", so she'll get consideration for the offer, but nothing is settled yet.

Camelot also has investigating the gold coin on her list of priorities for sure.
@The 42nd Gecko
Lol, that high-jumping introduction tho. Nice post. Very enthusiastic, that one!
And Lilac Shimmer very much continues to give off that optimistic "heart of the team" vibe that I'd sensed before... with just a sprinkling of issues. Yes, lovely stuff.
@Ponn personally I see Olivia being someone who goes with the flow of the Ministry so long as they placate her but I imagine she’d be conflicted greatly if she was asked to use her Darling to reign in any errant Magical Girls.

This is, of course, assuming the Ministry is the sort to do that. Camelot is currently only paranoid about them, for example. She doesn't really have any proof of wrongdoing, just unease with the current way they seem to go about things and the unchecked power they apparently possess. That aside, Olivia probably wouldn't be super thrilled about that scenario if it did come about...
Then there's Olivia, who just wants to make friends...

Exciting first day, huh? XD
